Ordered chili cheese fries and when the food was received it was visibly obvious that the chili they served had been sitting in a steam table for hours possibly ALL DAY (we ordered at about 10:30 pm Wednesday April 18,2018)... You could even see that it was burnt and not fresh at all. The cheese couldn't even cover up the careless food presentation, let alone unappatising and even possibly unconsumable by appearance. There's nothing that can be done with this food except trashed or flushed. The cook didn't fool anybody, but only made himself look like a fool. Either the cook on shift is employee of month, or maybe its protocol or company policy to keep and recycle old poorly prepared food. It's like "Feed the patrons the garbage to save on the waste bill". "Let our customers pay us to dispose of our aged and unedible food that should be discarded". No one wants to be an economical garbage disposal, especially when they are paying for Well Prepared Fresh Food. If your gonna serve crap, advertise it, put it in writing on your menu. Don't fake, don't front.. The Pantry is not a wise choice for good food. Denny's is not any better. read more

Finding a place to eat after 8 PM in Eureka can be tough for someone that doesn't know the town. This place is open 24 hours. The two waitresses went out of their way to be friendly, maybe because they weren't busy. The food isn't special, along the lines of a Denny's. The portions were HUGE. I've been to the pantry restaurants a few times over the years and the last time is the last. I went here for breakfast because it was the only thing I saw open at 6AM. The food was terrible. I don't think there was a single ingredient that wasn't sitting in a Sisco can for three years. Greasy, bland, just plain terrible. Bad coffee, poor service, sketchy clientel. Just a bad scene all around. The Arcata place isn't much better, still poor food and mediocre to bad service. I'd advise going to the Chalet or Marina in Eureka, or Wildflower or Golden Harvest in Arcata. Hell, even Adels is dreamy compared to this. read more

Customer service was excellent. We had breakfast which was pretty good. I ordered the pantry special omlette, it came with a special sauce, which I believe it was chedder cheese with nacho chesse, pretty good combo. Price was very reasonable. This is a good place to stop for pretty good food at a pretty fair price. It's typical diner fare and the service is pretty good, too. Not haute cuisine, but not a greasy spoon, either. We try to go when it's not too crowded because it can get a bit noisy, but in general we really enjoy the Village Pantry. read more

This family owned restaurant is open all night! Got into town about 1am starving from a long car ride and looking for a Denny's (which I thought would be the only restaurant open) when I drove by their open sign. The food is similar to what you would find at a Denny's, however, unlike the latter it did not give me gut rot! Thank you for feeding me at such an hour. read more

The pantry is a local greasy spoon. No more no less. It's not much better than denny's but it is still better. It's also one of the few places open 24 hours in eureka. The food isn't the best but it is edible. The service is friendly and candid. The prices may seem steep but you get your moneys worth. I just left the Pantry and I had such a great experience! We were seated quickly and tended to immediately by the nicest waitress I've ever had. She was enthusiastic with all of the patrons and filled our coffee and water every time she passed by. As for the food it came incredibly fast. Within 10 minuets of ordering we were eating. The portions were large but not insane. A great balance of quantity and quality. Definitely the right choice to make for Sunday breakfast. read more

I have been a regular here for the better part of 15 years and it's one of my favorite local places to eat. Yes, it is kind of like Denny's, but it has a more home like atmosphere. The food is always good, the service never takes too long and the waitresses are always friendly. read more

Just a local Denny's, but worse. We went there for dinner- it was alright. Service was good, and the waitresses were nice. Food was so-so. Went back there in the morning for breakfast (The motel was right across the parking lot) and the server was totally rude and kept glaring at me. However, when a local and regular customer came in- she was all smiles. Also, dishes were dirty and disgusting. Pie was so-so, mainly filler and not apples. Stopped in here on a road trip to Oregon. The food was beyond expectations! It was rather busy but waitress was awesome! Family restaurant atmosphere with homemade food taste! My mom and I were going up North and actually planned to spend the night in Eureka. We were going to dinner somewhere, and my mom decided on the Pantry, I honestly didn't like the look of it but went along. When in side my mom really liked the look of everything. She liked how the wall paper was kitchen/family room wall paper. A couple minutes after we ordered the waiter brought food over. Seemed like record time but it was the wrong order. Our actual orders came later. My mom had roast beef and mashed potatoes. The roast beef was store bought lunch meat and the potatoes were likely microwaved. I had a hamburger with bacon and fries. I had already noticed that the coke tasted bad, but I passed it off. A surprizing amount of places either have flat soda or dilute it. But I instantly noticed that the fries were completely unsalted and otherwise unappealing. The burger was completely forgetable, pretty rare for a bacon cheeseburger. My mom's reaction went from "it's... okay" at the beginning. Then she started admitting it was pretty flavorless. When we left she looked at me and called it the worst meal she's had in a long time. We ended up not staying in Eureka. read more

The prices are pretty good. There were 10 of us the fried cod was very oily, French fries were good, salad was ok, was good, roasted turkey and stuffing had no flavor, meatloaf was dry. I stopped at this place around 11:30 am for lunch on the way south with my mom who is in a wheelchair on a Sunday. They looked busy but we waited. It took 15 minutes to serve us and only one person acknowledged us during that time. They were obviously short handed. We were seated and it took another 5 or so to order. Then it took 30 minutes for food to be served. It looked as if there were at least 3 other tables waiting for food on our side of the restaurant. They brought out dishes and tried giving us them but they were someone else. We finally got our food. My mom had ordered an omelette with no hash browns but sub with fruit. The fruit was canned syrup drenched fruit which she could not eat. I ordered a special but with regular pancakes, not the chocolate chip pancakes. They arrived but only one egg and one slice of bread, soaked in melted butter. The bacon was ok. The pancakes tasted good but when I lifted them to put bitter under the top one, the pancakes all had grease streaks underneath. Shows poor cooking skills in the kitchen: cooking all food on both sides of the grill instead of keeping the pancakes on one side to avoid just this. No thanks. Egg showed up after I finished. I asked the girl what the deal was with the service, if they had sick calls and therefore short-handed with the long waits? She looked at me like: what are you talking about, this is normal. If it wasn't such a chore to get my mother in and out of the vehicle, I would have left before being seated. All this and $2 cup of mid to bad coffee...not for me. read more

For years when I came to Eureka (about 2x a year) I would have breakfast at the Pantry. Alway prompt and friendly service, and good food. I don't know what happened, but my visit there this trip today, it was totally different. when we came in there was about a 10 minute wait to get seated even though there were empty table near where we were seated. The wait person got us drinks relatively promptly, but then he disappeared and came about about 10 minutes later to take our order. While he wasn't rude, he was just clearly not happy or friendly, just short curt questions or answers. Was about 20 minutes before our food came and about 2 minutes after that he walked by and dropped the check on the table without even glancing at us. Just a totally change in attitude from every other time I've been there. The food was still good, and I admit it was a Sunday, and maybe the 2nd string was on duty, but I was really disappointed in the change of attitude. read more

I walked over for dinner there was only 3 people in the restaurant with me .I sat down finally got my order in and order a salad with my dinner came and no salad, The waitress ask if I wanted it to go I said no. the salad came finally while I was eating my dinner she never came back to ask how every things was going . when she was walking around she stop before my table and never refilled my ice tea. glass.
