I went yesterday and wanted seafood. They did not disappoint. What a nice little place. The staff was super friendly and the food was amazing. I also had clam chowder, which was perfect and tasted incredible. Definitely recommend. I've gotten pizza and subs from them before and they were also fantastic.

Everything came to the table quickly, and we were also given complimentary bread along with olive oil for dipping. I feel that the garlic knots and bread may have been better served with some sauce, but they were both good starters. Once the pizza was placed on the table my entire party was silent apart from the sounds of the occasional grunt of approval. The crust was perfectly cooked providing enough firmness so as not to fold or drop any toppings while also avoiding any char from the oven. The entire party is excited to make a return so that we can try more of the specialty pizzas available.

The crew here is fantastic. They're friendly, quick, and every single time I've come in for carry-out, they've slipped me a little bite to try while I wait. Not sure if that's just how they treat everyone or if I've got a standing reservation for VIP treatment at this point, but either way, it's the kind of small touch that makes a place feel like home even when you're only passing through once a year. The grinders are consistently great, and honestly the food alone would keep me coming back - but it's the people that make Nino's stand out. If you're ever in Uncasville, stop in and tell them I sent you ;)

Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana is a New Haven-style pizzeria that opened in New Haven, Connecticut…read morein 1925. It was founded by Francesco "Frank" Pepe: an immigrant from Maiori, Italy. Pepe first arrived in America in 1909 at the age of sixteen. He eventually learned the baking trade and for a time he worked at Generoso Muro's Bakery. In 1925, a one-story brick bakery owned by the Boccamaiello Family at 163 Wooster Street became available for rent. Pepe seized the opportunity to start his own business. At first, Pepe mainly baked and delivered bread. Eventually, he began making pizza. The only toppings were tomato sauce and grated Romano cheese; anchovies were a traditional add-on item. Pepe would travel up and down the streets selling his pizza on a pot that he balanced on his head, and then eventually from a wagon. After years of success, Pepe purchased the apartment building that he lived at and converted the ground floor into a grand pizzeria. The new pizzeria opened in summer 1936; at the time, it was the largest pizzeria in the United States. Throughout the 1950s-60s, Pepe experimented with putting fresh shucked clams on the pizza. Today the "White Clam Pie" is considered Frank Pepe's signature pizza. Frank Pepe passed away in 1969, but his legacy lives on. The original pizzeria owned by the Boccamaiello Family was later reopened under the name "The Spot". It was purchased by the Pepe Family in 1981 and reopened as a satellite location. The Pepe Family later franchised the brand. Aside from the two original locations in New Haven, there are now eight other locations in Connecticut and an additional eight throughout the East Coast. On a recent trip to see a concert at Mohegan Sun Casino, my older son and I stopped for dinner at the Pepe's location there (which opened in July 2009). I've visited this location a number of times before. Although a number of people have been critical of the pizza here, I've never had a bad experience. My son and I ordered and shared three small pies: the "Fresh Tomato Pie" (summer seasonal special: fresh native tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, garlic, grated Pecorino Romano & olive oil), the "Margherita" (crushed Italian tomatoes, fresh mozzarella & fresh basil), and the "Spinach, Mushroom & Gorgonzola" (mozzarella, spinach, mushroom & gorgonzola). We paired the pizzas with some locally-produced Foxon Park White Birch Beer. The toppings were fresh, the crust was crisp, and the flavor was explosive! My son and I ate about half of the pizzas, boxed the leftovers, and shared some delicious "Chocolate & Vanilla Gelato" for dessert. Great food and great service! Sure, the pizza here isn't as good as the pizza at the original New Haven location, but it's still WAY better than any other pizza that you're going to find in this area. We'll continue to eat here during future trips to Mohegan Sun!

On a hot day, the restaurant was nice and cool, and very clean. Our server, Brandi, was so kind and funny. She was attentive and came back to make sure we were satisfied. Out of the menu, we ordered clam chowder, El Captain on fireside bread, the Cheeseburger quesadilla, the High Point, chicken tenders, kids cheese pizza, and fries. LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE FRIES. Unlike any fries I've had before. Like a fat crispy version of a curly fry. Soft and fluffy on the inside, nicely crisp and you could tell the oil was clean. We ordered extra fries to go. The clam chowder was good, but different. A little grainy with what tasted like basil. But it was loaded with clams and the portion was generous. My kids were really happy with the pizza and tenders. Again, everything tasted fresh. The cheeseburger quesadilla was soooo good with mushrooms, onions, and the sauce on top. Tortilla was still crispy despite the sauce. The chicken sandwiches were good. Not the highlight of the table but the fireside bread it was on was delicious. I think everything else at the table was so full of flavor, they just didn't shine. But nonetheless very satisfying and the chicken was cooked perfectly. My kids said they would drive the hour just to eat here again. I don't disagree!

So that means everyone loves Nana's. Which means that, on a very rainy weekend early afternoon, we ended up waiting quite a long time to order and then to get our food but ... I suppose it was worth it (this is high praise coming from someone who almost never believes waiting in a long line is actually worth it). My friend and I split the spicy Caesar kale salad as a starter. I cracked up when I saw "massaged kale" as one of the ingredients. But all jokes aside, this was one of the best kale salads with abundant dressing and, in lieu of croutons, breadcrumbs and cashew parmesan. It tasted pretty indulgent and rich but you can certainly fool yourself into thinking it's actually healthy. I got the tomato sandwich plus bacon (so a BLT without the L) and it was pretty good, though I do wish they cut the bread a little thinner so I could pick it up and eat it as a sandwich. As it were, I just used my knife and fork - certainly more civilized. The pizza was also not bad, though I wish there were some more of the toppings - heard it's leagues better than Mystic Pizza. There are a few tables inside but be prepared to wait. When it was peak rush hour, there were two lines inside, one for the bathroom and one to place an order. Even though they were so slammed, the staff couldn't be friendlier. Our waitress in particular came by often to see how we were doing. Parking lot also filled up. We parked in the Mystic train station and then walked over.
