Hubby and I came here for a social event with other parents from our kid's school. We luckily found parking right down the street. It can definitely be difficult to find parking in this area. We actually went to their other location by accident but staff there, directed us to the right address. When we arrived, everyone fit surprisingly well, in their small bar area at the front. We sampled some shareable items from the menu, and had a few glasses of wine. The bartender seemed annoyed when asked questions, which did not really inspire me ordering much. I'm unsure if he was overwhelmed with the place being just about fully booked, and also having us crowd the bar area, although I believe this was set up prior to the event. The glass I wine I did have, I enjoyed. I had a few bites, but not much. The flatbread was nice, as were the salmon and salad. I like the ambience. This is a perfect date night spot. I would probably have a better time dining here with hubby, just us. It's been some time since I've been to an intimate wine bar/restaurant. I love the dim lighting and close tables. Dined here for two on a Monday night around 8pm. The restaurant was pretty empty with only two other tables dining for the night. Overall, it was pretty quiet and lighting is dim. It's quite different than the NoMad location which I feel is always busy, lively and loud. My husband and I came in for dinner after a long day working so we were most interested in decompressing with a few nice glasses of wine. The wine was great and paired nicely with our food selections. The waiter urged us to get more cocottes since they are on the smaller side, however, we ended up having a lot of leftovers. We mostly at the cheeses and charcuteries which were all very good. The rest of the food was fine, nothing bad but also all pretty basic. This spot is close to our temporary apartment so I'd definitely go back but probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back to this location. read more

This was a spot for me to grab an end-of-a-long-day glass of nice wine (a 2016 Chateauneuf-du-Pape), along with a grilled shrimp and endive salad with crumbled blue cheese. It also allowed me to chat with the experienced and engaging staff. Hugo and Carissa gave me the background on this year-old spinoff of the VSV empire. The place was busy, with only a couple of bar seats available - which is always my fav spot anyway. The food choices offer a tasty array of small plate choices. This is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood, which, considering the population of the Riverside Blvd buildings, suffers from a lack of good food choices, especially the sit-down variety. I've been coming to this place for almost three years now and have loved it! However, the most recent visit was really disappointing. I'm betting this location has been franchised - this particular location is far below the standard for Vin Sur Vingt. Gripes: - Wine list has shrunk way down - Food was inconsistent with other locations - but priced the same - No small touches - No expertise offered by the server - No fun wine specials - Severely truncated wine list full of sub-par choices - not interesting, not delicious, zero sparkling wines offered, and all overpriced even by industry standards for wine markups. - ....And for some reason the pours have diminished to about 4.5 oz. Yeah, it was $24 for a 4.5 oz pour - though the table next to us was served observably larger pours; so who knows. Not great. - Bathroom was filthy and had the most pungent smell. All kinds of disappointments, large and small, have taken this place from the sparkling five stars it used to be, down past a 3-star shoulder shrug, to land at an honest two stars. Overpriced and low value, do not recommend for the food. They also have a very small and not great wine list for a place that's supposed to be a wine bar. The Nicoise salad and escargot that we got were both pretty tasty but higher price points. Their charcuterie plate was the real disappointment and definitely way overpriced for the amount and quality of meats and cheeses that were provided. As you can see in the photo it is a pretty sad looking charcuterie plate with so little food that they charged $47 for, which is pretty ridiculous. Got the beef tar tar, escargot, BLT(I know not very french) and chicken salad. It was really good. Escargot and beef tartar was the highlight. Service was amazing and you know it is meant to be when they leave the empty escargot pan on your table because you can still dip your bread into the leftover parsley garlic butter. Heaven. We've been living on Riverside Blvd for almost 5 years and Vin Sur Vingt has always been our go to. We LOVE it! Tonight we found out that the menu has been changed: all the vegetarian/easy to make vegan options had been removed. No more tartine with avocado or the tartine with tomatoes. Not even a salad! The salad was to die for! The 4 of us had to go to Cipriani. We are seriously hoping and pleading that whomever manages Vin Sur Vingt on Riverside Blvd comes to their senses and goes back to the original menu, which was perfect for every type of diet and palate. This neighborhood vineyard is so friendly. The owner treated my friend and I complimentary drinks before the holidays, and once my friend got confused over the location and I had to leave before I can finish my wine - I already took a sip! Finally! An establishment above casual Chinese and coffee shop chains in the neighbourhood for nights where I want to eat out and have a drink within a 2 block radius from my place. Visited on a Tuesday night and it wasn't very busy. I hope this place picks up because the neighbourhood is in dire need of such establishments. The space is not very large which makes for an intimate setting. We had some sparkling by the glass. The wine list was nice and I'll sure come back soon to try more wine varieties. What stands out for me is the menu, which was longer than expected. All choices were very French such as charcuterie and cheese selections, croque monsieur, and other French classics. Recently, my husband and I went to Vin Sur Vingt. A receptionist showed us to our table, across from a table covered with the shredded napkins and bits of mushed food left by a family with a toddler and we waited and waited. Finally, the waitress (the same person as the receptionist) appeared to take our wine order and to apologize for the wait, explaining she was the only one working that night. We then waited and waited until the wine appeared, with a further explanation that, not only was she alone, but it was her first night on the job. A family came into the restaurant with a very small child and was offered the uncleared table. The child rebelled, stated firmly (and quite rightly) that he did not want to sit somewhere "so messy." Service halted while the waitress--apparently also acting as the busboy--cleaned up. Eventually, our food order was taken and we waited some more. A woman near us wondered what it would take to order some wine. Time passed and the waitress came back and said that the "machine" was broken and she had been unable to place our order, what was it again? More time passed and the waitress brought out our dinner, but mine was not what I ordered. The waitress apologized and asked if I might want it anyway. No. [Note to waitress, when the "machine" is broken an alternative technology that might help is the "pen and paper."] I thought another glass of wine might help, but realizing that ordering wine might take a rather long time, my husband went to fetch some from the (wine) bar area, where the waitress was--surprise--also the bar tender. Eventually, the food came: perhaps the teensiest portion of salmon I have ever seen. I have been a few times to Vin Sur Vingt before. The food is indifferent and the prices are too, given the size of the portions. (And, I say this as a really small person who does not eat much.) The service has always been lousy. This is not because the staff is poor, but because the manager is not hiring enough staff to cope. What sort of manager sends a young person, on her first night on the job, out to act as receptionist, busboy, bartender, and waitress all on her own? On the plus side, the rose is nice and poured generously and--I assume this is what is responsible for many of the positive reviews--it is bliss to have a restaurant, any restaurant, in this culinary desert on the upper far west side. But, my advice is, if you are not within a few-block radius, go elsewhere. read more

Went here for brunch late on a Sunday and only three tables were occupied so much to our dismay it took one hour to receive our food. Our waitress made no apologies, but the other waitress came by and offered us a free drink and said there was a problem with the computer, but we saw others receive their food before us despite arriving after. When our food arrived one dish at a time the goat cheese tartine was very tiny although tasty and the pancakes were excellent. We really wanted to like this spot since it's in our neighborhood, but they need to do a better job at service. read more
