I like the food that is served at vinaigrette but have been put off by their ever changing tip changes. Somewhere around the pandemic, they said they were eliminating tipping and were going to pay their waitstaff higher wages. Of course, simultaneously went up on all menu items. The next time I went, tipping was back but the prices remained the same. Today, my bill indicated "KAT" or some thing similar with a 2% charge for kitchen employees appreciation tip. Awful! The food looked promising but I was disappointed with my take out order. First off, their contactless pay didn't work, so my husband had to scramble to find an ATM (we are on vacation). After finally receiving our food, I was so hungry I unpacked our food and started to chomp down...only to find out that they gave us a Reuben sandwich instead of the hot turkey. I'm allergic to beef!!!! I was so panicked, I don't remember if I spit it out or swallowed it, so I had to take my emergency allergy medicine and get my epi-pen ready, waiting to see if I'll need to go to the ER. We don't live here! So that was added stress. I immediately called them to ask for a refund. They did not seem very sorry. The person I spoke to said, "Sorry for your loss." after I explained that we got the wrong sandwich and I'm likely to need medical attention now. What a rude and weird response! I was able to eat the salad we got (pepitas salad) since it didn't contain beef or pork (I have Alpha Gal Syndrome.) but it was so SALTY I couldn't eat more than a few bites. I finally gave up on having dinner altogether, more worried about having anaphylactic shock than hunger. It's been 2 days and my bank still shows that the charge for our food is PENDING. The beet goes on is my favorite Definitely more a place to go when you have some extra cash, as the menu has increased and everything is pretty pricy, but it's a great place for special occasions, and they won't rush you out. The salads are much better than you can get, and you can tell everything is high quality. Love the back patio, but the atmosphere inside is bright and fun as well - weird to say but I love the bathrooms there too. Service is usually very good, and although they used to give complimentary bread, it seems like servers are willing to try giving some bread atill, even if they have to charge for it. read more

Asked for allergens, they did say all salad dressings are ok on soy (soy-free) except the miso ginger (clearly). I ordered a different dressing on mine than it comes with but they messed it up at first, replaced it without me saying anything word, but new salad had no bluecheese which made me sad. Kale nachos were had by my kale loving niece who said it was too much kale for even her. Third person in our party had the Mac n cheese, which he said was very good. Overall okay, but for the price I still came home hungry and with tons of available caloriee available for the day. I have been coming to Vinaigrette for 5+ years now. My friends and I frequent it when they're back in town or when we are craving fresh, healthy options. I used to love the service staff and the overall ambiance of the place, now I will NEVER be returning nor will any of my friends. The new location is smaller, but still super cute with a nice patio. Menu still the same, with our favorite apps, salads and sandwich combos. However, the price has gone up while the quality has gone down. The portions of my omega salad is actually comical (see pic below). My friends and myself would gladly pay $20+ for a quality salad that is locally sourced and substantial enough to be considered a meal. However, the price for the portions is no longer acceptable. Our server forgot an appetizer we ordered, a soup I ordered, and failed to take our dinner order for about 45 minutes after we sat down and got our drink orders in. I understand high volume weekend nights and being busy during a rush; I have been in the service industry for 8 years now, serving and bartending. However, there is no excuse for our servers rude demeanor and lack of urgency when they had multiple servers on the floor splitting tables. Reviewed during Covid-19 I don't live near Vinaigrette but I always stop by here if I'm in the area. My friend and I came here for Saturday brunch (they're closed on Sundays for now). Inside dining is closed but they have 2 outdoor patios that are open although there are no heaters but it was a nice day outside and we didn't mind. We got the black bean and kale tacos for an appetizer and I ordered the Asian chopped salad with tofu and my friend got the roasted veggie and provolone sandwich with an omega side salad and cup of soup of the day. Everything was really good and I definitely recommend the Asian chopped salad, the portion is huge and very filling. Okay. Numerous problems with this establishment after eating here five times. My honeymoon phase is over. Their menu says they raised their prices and therefore tips aren't necessary, yet the receipt has a tip line??? My friend and I both got the pear fessor and to me, it lacked flavor, especially could have used more dressing. Only two pears are on the entire salad, so that was disappointing. We both got flank steak added. The steak needs salt and pepper or a seasoning. Quite bland. The check was what floored us. 36 bucks for a cup of soup and salad and 46 bucks if you add a drink for the liver. Way overpriced and under seasoned. We won't be going back read more

VinIgrette used to be one of my favorite places to eat. Why do I now give it 2 stars? Their to go portions don't match what you get when you dine in. Salads are 1/2 to 2/3 the size. Also, they have become like the Soup Nazi when it comes to their bread. They used to be generous, and the portions have dwindled to the point where 14 bucks worth of a purchase gets you what you see below. Yep. 3 small pieces. Someone needs to tell the staff that "sustainability" shouldn't apply to shafting customers decent portion sizes. If you can detect the frustration in my voice, it's at seeing a once great restaurant rest on their laurels and forget the core reasons that propelled their business in the first place. With all of the restaurant options these days, forgetting what value means, and assuming every customer is a vegan who eats there for the ambiance of "New American" is going to hugely affect their customer base over time. For those at Vinaigrette who wish to confront this reality, a few observations: 1: This change started happening about the last 12-16 months ago. 2. Whoever your kitchen staff was, they used to be generous regarding portions... enough to where I felt the restaurant was a good value. Whoever left around that time, or whatever change you made, you should change it back. This restaurant is INCREDIBLE! My mom and I are taking Route 66 from L.A. to Chicago, finding interesting places to stop and eat along the way. So far we have made it to Oklahoma, and Vinaigrette is my favorite place to eat so far. Their menu is almost entirely salads, and the salads are delish and they are big. Instead of sections for "entree", "appetizers", "sides", etc., the menu sections are "bright", "sweet", "savory", etc. each with a unique list of salad options! Matt was a great waiter. I've been coming to this location for years and service has never been an issue. The quality of food, however, has declined. The Mac n cheese was disgusting and cold. Do not waste your $7. I believe too much flour was used in this recipe. Nasty. The greek salad was decent. But I only got a tiny leaf of lettuce (the size of my fork) compared to the long leaf of lettuce the salad usually comes on top of. The shrimp didn't have any flavor and smelled really fishy. Yuck! I had the Pepita Salad with added dried cherries with a Ginger Turmeric Tonic... ....my taste buds were poppin!! I had to cleanse my palate with water between bites & sips...because the flavors were so robust & intense... that's a good thing! The complimentary bread & triple berry dessert were amazing. I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN. Being a vegan in Albuquerque has been hard over the years and I really wanted to like Vinaigrette (especially since they used to have amazing bread rolls). The fact is that every time I try it - something terrible happens. Frequently, I find accidental meat or cheese floating in my salad after explicitly saying I AM VEGAN. Nasty surprise to find chicken in a salad that's supposed to be vegan. The final nail in the coffin was finding a DEAD BEETLE at the base of my salad. After a couple of super rich meals I decided for health reasons to go Green. A salad would be used to balance the several sopapillas with honey and the tasty green chili from previous meals. I was looking for a salad that was more than just a salad, it needed to be an experience and a satisfying meal. I wasn't even sure something like this existed but after doing some digging I found the vegetable gold. Vinaigrette is the name and salads are their game! We opted to sit outside in the patio in order to absorb the amazing Albuquerque weather. We started our meal by ordering some sugarless hibiscus tea that looked like something stolen from a hummingbird feeder. I ordered the Cesar salad with medium rare tuna and my wife had the Greek salad. Our salads arrived: they were a spectacle of color, taunting us to dig in with our forks, fingers and our minds (please see photo below). Every bite of Tuna, lettuce and tomatoes worked in harmony creating a satisfying experience. In the end, the healthy required salad that I wasn't looking forward to, had become an inspiration worthy of a five star review. Just as we were about to pay our check the super friendly NM girl offered a Mr. White deal we couldn't refuse "Homemade mixed berry pie oh my!" It was the Ying to our Yang salad, the perfect unhealthy rebel yell to end our meal. After the last berry was devoured, we sat under the crisp NM air contemplating our experience planning to return the next day for some more deja vu salad and pie and return we did. Vinaigrette is always a go-to when I want a healthier meal in Santa Fe that still presents as a nicer dining experience. It may seem fast casual, but it is anything but. Creatively put together salads are the main draw here, but the restaurant also has a selection of sandwiches, soups and appetizers on the lighter side. I always get the kale fritters! I've had a handful of salads here and have never been disappointed. And trust me, these salads are definitely a meal. They've also got fun, healthy drinks, a decent selection of wines and a few creative cocktails. Although I did have the turmeric mimosa once, and it wasn't for me. Service has usually been friendly -- one experience I recall a while ago left a little something to be desired with the server acting like she wanted to be anything but at work -- but I think that was definitely an outlier. Food comes fast and fresh. Parking can be a bit of an issue, as their lot is small and shared with another business. Also, they pay a living wage, so staff aren't at the mercy of tips. This is my single favorite restaurant in Albuquerque. I like everything about it: the many salads, the starters, the wonderfully refreshing drinks, and even the gorgeous wide plank wood flooring in the dining area. The chopped salads, yes they have two different types, are perfect and the kale fritters are worth the trip even if you live 30 minutes away. It was my first time returning after the COVID closure. The Vinaigrette is now a tip less restaurant. Their prices have increased on every item quite significantly, in my opinion. I ordered the Kale Caesar. It was wonderful! I also requested bread and oil, as they had provided upon request prior. The server informed us that it would be $2 for 2 slices, no oil. I would also like to add that it was extremely cold in the restaurant. I don't think they were using any type of heat to warm the very uncomfortable dining area. Aside from the price increase and the cold environment, I still enjoyed my dining experience. read more

First time visiting today, I love salads! However I ordered the nutty pear-fessor for $17 I received my salad to go but they didn't have any forks. They just ran out, I was referred to walk across to garcias kitchen to ask for one. I didn't want to do that. So I went to my local general store to buy a pack just to eat my salad. Then I opened up my salad and realized that the portion size is so small. I'm starving by then, so I eat my salad but I'm still hungry. This salad girl is all about this new restaurant featuring a myriad of salads, which are, according to their web site, made with "70 percent organic produce," which is locally-grown and artfully presented. Seriously, there isn't a salad here I wouldn't eat. They all sound great, though I played it safe this first visit and had a Garden Salad. The wide open space with high ceilings and bright colors mixed with white walls adds to the inviting atmosphere. It turns out this place is one of two locations, the first one is in Santa Fe. According to their web site, The organic produce is "... grown on owner Erin Wade's bucolic, 10-acre farm - Los Portales - in Nambé, New Mexico, about 20 minutes north of Santa Fe." One minor downside: The Mustard Roasted Potatoes I ordered were a little too greasy for my taste. I don't know if this was a one-time anomaly, or if it's how they prepare them. I have a feeling it's not, because they seem to want to cater to the health-conscious clientele. I do not know you in person but I think you are someone to admire! Destiny is a strange thing and I'm glad that you found your path and passion in growing food and collaborating with local farms with the same purpose. Albuquerque needs this! I first visited Vinaigrette, finally!, accompanied by my eight year old daughter only knowing the restaurant was a sustainable place and to forget my frustration from previous bad service during a dentist appointment. I needed a treat... a good, conscious and loving treat. Little did I know about all the background happenings that occur so I can enjoy a great meal worry-free! The ambience is fresh, casual and, in my opinion, not pretentious. Service has a nice pace and their patio looks very inviting -- People looked so happy sitting outside that later I regretted staying inside. My daughter's eyes wanted to get out of their sockets every time a server walked by with a dessert. Also, I didn't find it expensive. We went during lunch time and shared the Tuna Melt and a Caesar Salad with avocado. That Ginger Turmeric Tonic was to die for! and the Homemade Soda Pop was delicious as well. Walking over from the Albuquerque Museum, for some reason we opted not to get a Baconator at Wendy's. Yeah, that's sarcasm. I had the Nutty Pear-fessor salad which was excellent. Lots of stuff that isn't just lettuce - bacon bits, blue cheese and stewed pears. all with a yummy dressing that left me feeling full and like I'd made a good choice. Mom went with the eggplant parm which was a good sized serving and she said it was quite good. And then... carrot cake happened. Very very good. Moist, tasty and with a really nice cream cheese frosting. Actually, too much frosting. We scraped off quite a bit of it and left it behind. Good meal, good dessert. Nice location. My wife and I have been patrons of Vinaigrette for many years. More often than not, the service is okay and nothing worth writing about. However the poor treatment we received from a Manager named Cre today warrants a review. Today we had lunch and while we were waiting for our meal we noticed something the staff were doing that could potentially be a sanitation issue. We brought it up with our waitress and she asked if we'd like her to bring it up with the manager. We said sure. Considering we are 1+ years into a global pandemic, we felt it wasn't unreasonable to look for some assurance that the proper procedures are being followed to ensure a safe experience for customers. The manager then came out to speak with us and instead of reassuring us, he was very defensive and aggressively asserted that if we aren't comfortable we are welcome to take our meal to-go. This is not the sort of treatment we expect from a place like Vinaigrette. We may not return. read more
