We came into Hagerstown as a base camp for a few days (29-30 SEP) of bicycle riding on the C&O canal tow path. As you can see I wanted to think about this a little bit before I reviewed. Bear with me for a little set up. My wife can be a bit finnicky, eating smart/clean lately for her health (she is doing great, so proud of her). I'm an Army vet, will eat and drink anything, even things I shouldn't. So that makes chosing a place a bit of a first world problem. I was on the hook to pick a post ride (24 miles) lunch place. She had scored well on a few safe pick places earlier in the trip. I had looked at reviews, looked over the pictures. I believe I had in my mind a little place like Gianni's over by Fort Meade, MD. This was not that. I want to like this restuarant more than I do. Perhaps if we lived here and I tried a few more things it would grow on me. As it is, it is adequate. I have no real complaints. I don't quite understand the 5 star reviews as much as the 1 star reviews also don't ring accurate. I suspect the local reviewers are, rightfully swayed by a nice set of owners/workers and the out of towners are expecting too much. The service was a bit slow for a Saturday after 1300, but there was only one guy, Carlos we saw. {It brought to mind the Star Trek original episode with Mr. AtoZ running all over the place}, so that can be forgiven. We were hungry so that likely made it seem longer than anything actually occurred. I discovered that their operation had been in another location in this small town for many years, and had only been at this location for a few. It looks like it. Everything still had that fresh look of the home makeover shows. I also suspect they do a decent job of keeping it clean, no off smells or gunk in corners to make me think otherwise (I check- barracks inspections old habits). The prices are MD, "post-covid" we had a small pizza, an order of fries, a salad and iced tea for $46.00. A bit steep, but we all have to get used to a bit of sticker shock. For that price I wanted a bit more value, a bit more refinement/finish to the items. Everything was just okay. Ordered two Chicken Subs with double meat. I did not get double meat or any lettuce on the sub. I paid $3.99 for the extra meat on each sub. I called the restaurant and was greeted with a rude male team member that refused to offer any refund or resolution or even a credit. He would not let me speak to the manager when I asked to. He hung up on me during mid conversation. This is the most unprofessional establishment you could go to. Please avoid at all costs. Total cost for two subs that were sub par in every way and terrible customer service was $39.00. The male worker would not give me his name but he worked the night of 2/17 assuming management would like to discuss his unprofessional and rude behavior. This place is absolute trash. They don't care about customers they literally said they are happy to lose customers. No where, in the history of calzones in Maryland, do they include ham. The online ordering website does not mention ham. I picked my ingredients. The receipt does not mention ham. My party bites in and there's ham. She is ALLERGIC to ham and has been throwing up. The owner's responses? " That's not my problem we don't give free samples you should have said no ham i dont care it's not my problem I can't help you". I paid $40 for a calzone that leaked GREASE all over my counter and a veggie sub that tastes like salty wet lettuce. This place is a joke and the owner doesn't care once he has his money. We were looking for some good, NY-style pizza on our drive from NY to VA. Last night we suffered through Pizza Hut with the in-laws, so we really wanted some good pizza!! We got a Greek salad to split, and it wasn't much to talk about. It was fresh and the dressing was good, but there were minimal toppings and - well, it wasn't worth the $8. The pizza made up for it, though - we got cheese and it was great! The restaurant was clean and our waitress was friendly and attentive. No complaints there! It looks like they're halfway done replacing the yucky carpet with tile, and we sat on the newy-tiled side. Parking sucks, we are in a small RV and managed to squeeze in on an end. read more

We walked into this restaurant at 5 pm on a Tuesday night. There was one customer seated waiting for take out but no staff was present front of house. We waited, then seated ourselves, waited some more and finally got up and opened the swinging door into the kitchen to see if anyone was home. The staff in the back looked surprised that someone might be asking for service. Presently, someone did come out of the back asked if I was picking up. "No, we are looking to be seated". He told me someone would come out and take our order. Long story short, the wait staff was less than communicative. I ordered garlic bread, when in fact, it comes with the meal (she didn't point that out). I ordered the Greek salad and it was THE SADDEST LOOKING SALAD I HAVE EVER SEEN. The pasta? Awful. The worst. I ordered a cheesesteak and a medium cheese pizza. It took 45 min to deliver and that is fine, but you could tell they made the cheesesteak sub right away and it sat for a long time because the bread was completely soaked through and was disgusting. I only live 10 minutes away, why not wait to make the cheesesteak when your about ready to send the order out instead of sending such a disgusting cheesesteak to me. Very disappointing. Drove up from Annapolis to Hagerstown and looked for good Italian food. This is the classic example of a great local "hidden" gem. The food was outstanding. From the meatball sandwich to chicken parmigiana! And the Greek salad too! Will be going there again! More than worth the 1.5 hour drive to enjoy their food! If you're close by, stop by and enjoy! Today, I noticed that Vince's Pizza had moved from Halfway, closer to Williamsport, into the the old Carmine's location. I anticipate that they will do VERY WELL here, with easy to access parking !!!! Their old location WAS difficult to maneuver in and out. Trash management. I paid for a large order to feed over 20 Soldiers and when i called to inform them they did not provide the wings the employee or possible manager/owner said my Soldier ate them and chuckled as if it was a joke. Then he cursed me and said I was trying to get free food. I am blown away by the disrespect after I spend over $150 at their establishment. WE ordered a large pizza etra cheese with pepperoni. We called about 20 min's to see how long it would be for delivery they said they left for delivery and should be knocking on the door. I waited 15 min's no delivery. Called got an excuse and said it was on it's way. Pizza came. Got it to the apartment, an opened the box, the pizza was warm, like it had been sitting around and no etra cheese. Called again, started to eplain and got hung up on. Not too shabby. They're our go to delivery for pizza when we order in. Not exactly New York authentic, but about as close as you'll get in this area - not greasy enough to be considered NY style. They have some really good entrees as well, I'm picky about red sauce and theirs is pretty decent. The sauce has a nice, tart, fresh tomato taste. I don't know if they make it in house, but it's not your typical pizzeria standard red sauce. Great prices and you get a good amount of food for the price. The entrees come with a side salad and a big chunk of garlic bread. I was really impressed when they made and delivered an order of the pasta with white clam sauce that they had recently removed from the menu...the clams were very fresh, still in the shells too. I'm not sure why they have Mexican cuisine on their menu and I have yet to try it, but it seems like that side of the menu is slapped together...they use retried beans en lieu of fresh black beans for their burritos. I can't vouch for it though as I've never had it, but I personally will stick to their Italian entrees. read more

It was superb & I highly recommend this classic combo from Vince's. The delivery man was very nice & professional as well. When our waitress brought our pizza our drinks were empty sat pizza down n left we had to ask the other waitress for refills , when she brought the bill again had to ask fir box for left over pieces . I tried to call and order a pizza. Spoke to some girl on the phone. Such an attitude, she talked to me like I was annoying the heck out of her. When I asked if the sausage was pork or beef she asked someone who I heard in the background saying it was sweet Italian. I recently was in the area on business and was looking for a local pizza place for dinner. Our waitress, Courtney, was very nice and helpful with the menu. Soon after we ordered, I overheard the manager loudly disrespecting our server in front of other guests. I have a history in the service industry so it made me very angry to see how he was speaking to her. I asked to speak with the manager personally and informed him that I had overheard him and was not happy about it at all. Employees deserve better. read more

This place is amazing. I eat there at least 3 times a week. The pizzas are amazing as well. I usually get the bacon cheese fries they are tasty and are a huge amount of fries and bacon. The subs are banging they make there own bread and the subs have a perfect amount of seasoning. I have never had a problem with it there.
