The owner comes out and speaks to the customers waiting outside as he awaits the empanadas baking. We wanted to try different flavors since it was our first time having Argentinian food. The empanadas were simply amazing. The man there was right, they're all perfectly seasoned and did not require any of the sauces. The Al Pastor is elevated with the chipotle sauce but it's not really needed. My favorite were the caprese, plum and bacon, and the al pastor. But really, you can't go wrong with any of them. Located next to Shell Gas Station with just enough parking out front, and it was a pleasant surprise. The doors are blocked but someone comes out to take your order. There's a sign on the door. We really really liked this place! Stopped by to have an early lunch - didn't realize that there's no seating inside (it's all kitchen) but there are several tables on their patio. It was a sunny but breezy day - nice area to try some empanadas! And try we did - we got one of almost their entire menu, plus the sandwich. All were good, most were great. The pastry is flaky and tender, not greasy at all. The fillings were varied and fun - each of us had our faves, but there wasn't a single dud in the bunch. In fact, while we were noshing, I even ordered a few to go for my MIL. No bathroom facilities but you can use the restrooms in the gas station right next door. Each order comes with a dahlia (grown in their very own backyard) which is such a sweet, beautiful, and personal touch. Vinoma has been on my to-try list for forever, but it's so far from where we're located. How'd I even come across this place you might ask? A while ago I had been introduced to baked Empanadas, and this popped up as one of the best places to grab one. Finally, my partner and I were able to hit Vinoma up since we decided to hike around the area. It's located right next to a gas station, so parking lot is shared between Vinoma and the gas station convenience store. At the time that we went, they blocked off the entrance so ordering is done either at the door, or through online. There's only a few outdoor seats available. I'm kind of surprised there isn't more because of all the popular reviews, but I'm guessing a good portion of their customers just take their orders to-go since our empanadas were given in a to-go box. So we were told that these are 3-4 biter sized empanadas, and people normally order like 4-6 each. Since I usually avoid dairy and I normally don't opt for anything too spicy, my choices were limited. I decided to go for their 1) Traditional Beef, 2) Curry Tofu, and share a 3) Peach Cobbler (seasonal). My partner ordered the 1) Spicy Beef, 2) Al Pastor, and 3) Creamy Corn. We also ordered an Alfajores. Our order took a bit of time because it's freshly baked, but we had some great time watching the owner's son entertain other people. What a nice kid! Similar to other empanada places, you can distinguish which empanada is which by the letter located on one of the corners of the empanada. Both of my savory empanadas were pretty good. Well seasoned, flavorful, baked perfectly, but the one empanada that really stood out to me the most was my partner's Al Pastor. I was unsure about ordering it at first because I usually don't like pineapple in my savory food, but that Al Pastor was super flavorful. The sauces - salsa verde and chipotle aioli was the cherry on the top. Amongst the three I choice, I liked the peach cobbler the most. There's bits of peaches in there. I love a crumbley top bits, and peaches are in season, so it was deliciously sweet! We were also surprised about the Alfajores. That cookie was big! Almost as big as an empanada. It came straight out of the fridge, but we let it sit for a bit so that it's not as hard. It's dense, but the dulce de leche was just soft enough that everything just melted together after sitting out for a bit. We enjoyed it a lot! The owner is super interactive and friendly. Big foodie and has so much food recommendations and also unafraid to ask for recommendations. He's just very personable. Our second visit to Vinoma and surprised that despite the COVID pandemic being in our collective rearview mirror that this delicious Argentinian Empanada restaurant still doesn't let customers enter the establishment to eat ? Weird. The food is delicious and once again my wife and I ordered a dozen assorted hot and fresh empanadas but it was windy and not easy to sit outside on their few metal tables in the cold wind and in the shade ?! Highlights were the bacon plum open face empanada and the spicy beef empanadas. Everything was delicious and for about $3.50 each and a total of about $45 for two people splitting an order of a dozen small hot and distinctly unique empanadas we were satisfied, filled up and with a few leftovers. The place is attached to a gas station so a good place to grab drinks and use the bathroom if needed. MY RECOMMENDATION- REOPEN and let your customers sit inside and eat. I have been coming a few years and do not think I have done a review yet. The owner Brian puts love and care into both the food and the customer service. Great chef and a super nice guy. The food is singular and delicious. The tapas have a good crisp to the pastries all around. Plum and bacon has delicious mozza, crispy bacon and sweetness from the plums for the perfect balance. The spicy beef is flavorful with just a hint of spice and pairs perfectly with chipotle aioli for a pop of extra heat and flavor (I had not tried the sauce until today but will add to my orders going forward) The new pot pie is another blend with some sweet and savory and the gravy rounds it off perfectly (I recommend giving a slight shake to ensure gravy distribution). My daughter (11) was at her friend's house for lunch and when I called and confirmed she was staying there for lunch she asked what we were doing for lunch. I said Vinoma... and now we have her and her friend here instead to get their fix in. The food delicious as ever with the old favorites and always cool to try new flavors when Brian rolls them out.
