The Vinyl staff always provides good customer service. Courteous and friendly. Usually when I come here I do not get food but the one time I tried it it was a hit. Nachos are a yes. Charcuterie a yes. The chips a tad salty for my taste. Still nice and crisp. I believe they recently switched to a new security company to handle the door and be present inside the venue. And I can tell a difference in a positive way. The security actually speaks to you and treats you like a human being and provides customer service as well. But also handles "situations" accordingly. I had to go with 3 stars (maybe) here because I liked the atmosphere, the holiday decor, the music and the drink I ordered but I think I missed out on the full experience which lead the other reviewers to give 5 stars. I stopped in the Tuesday before Thanksgiving around 7pm-ish. It was raining outside and the inside had about 10 other people sitting at the bar. We opted for a table seat for a little space. The 2 hostesses also served us. One was in training. The "trainer" had 0 energy. It brought down our excitement to try someplace new because it seemed like she didn't want to be there and wasn't necessarily welcoming. I ordered a Liar Liar for $14. Cute presentation and overall tasty drink but they make it with SO much ice. I'm not a fan of grapefruit, and asked them not to include that juice, but was informed that the drink is premade so there are no alterations. The drink was a typical fruity drink. Lots of sugar, lots of ice and little alcohol. They ask for a card upfront to open a tab. While waiting for the drink we oversaw the bartender at work. He was super sociable, shaking up drinks, talking to the customers and having a good time. I see why people rave about their interaction with him but unfortunately we didn't get that vibe. After just one drink we decided to close the tab. Drink, tax and tip totaled about $18. Again, the inside was super nice. The drinks are standard price for the area and there are some cool combinations you can choose from. Didn't get to try the food so I can't give you any suggestions there, but they had a couple things that caught my eye. Overall, it was cool. Next time,note to self, sit at the bar. read more

So I went to vinyl on June 5 2026 and I got a tequila soda water. I took a sip to make sure I got the right drink and it tasted to me like there wasn't alcohol in it. I proceeded to tell the bartenders that there was no tequila in my drink and instead of them taking my drink (that I'm paying for) and doing somthing about it, the bartender looked at me and said " there is alcohol in it babe" and the I proceeded to explain the here that I couldn't taste it and she said " how long have you been drinking " I like vinyl but it I keep having these experiences and I'm tired of it. read more

On a laid-back Sunday, I took a stroll down South Tryon Street in South End and found myself at Vinyl, a bar with a clear love for music. Behind the bar, vinyl records are on display, and the walls feature striking abstract artwork of musicians, creating a cool, creative vibe that instantly draws you in. The music playing in the background set the perfect tone. Vinyl offers a brunch menu that looked seriously tempting--I almost ordered the Shakshuka--but I was craving a burger or wings, and luckily, their regular menu was also available. The bar staff, especially Jamie, were super friendly and accommodating. Since I'm not into spicy foods, Jamie let me sample their Peri Peri sauce (from their newly added wings) before making a decision. While it was flavorful, the kick was a bit too much for me. On to the main event: I'm on a mission to try all the smashburgers in Charlotte, and Vinyl's VINYL Burger was just what I needed. It features double smashed patties, pickle chips, red onions (which I swapped for grilled onions), white American cheese, and Biggie sauce, all served on a toasted brioche bun. I added ketchup and mustard to round out the flavors. The smash patties were on point--thin, crispy on the edges, and juicy in the middle. My only critique is that I could've used a couple more slices of cheese to really amp up the gooey factor, and maybe a leaf of lettuce for a little extra texture. Next time, I'll definitely request those extras to hit the sweet spot. The burger comes à la carte, so I added a side of fries, which were fresh, crispy, and perfectly seasoned--no complaints here! I'll definitely be back soon, probably to give that brunch menu a try. One tip: from what I've seen driving by at night, Vinyl can get pretty lively and loud, so if you're looking for a more laid-back vibe, I'd recommend stopping by in the early afternoon. She made great recommendations for food - I started with the Salt & Vinegar chips then had the Peri Peri wings. I went to Vinyl to celebrate a friend's birthday a few months ago and ordered one drink for myself, plus ONE birthday drink for my friend. We stayed for about two hours and I didn't order anything else before eventually leaving. The next day, I checked my bank statement and realized I had been charged more than $150-- clearly someone else's entire tab was run on my card. When I called the next day to get it sorted, the manager on duty didn't seem to care at all. I eventually asked to speak to the general manager and ended up speaking with Mark. His response was honestly unbelievable. Instead of taking the issue seriously, he questioned whether I had gotten drunk and simply forgotten buying all those drinks. I told him to check the security cameras -- we were standing right at the front of the bar, directly in view -- and even gave him my friend's number to verify everything. After that, I heard nothing. No call back, no follow-up, no apology. At that point, I realized they weren't going to take responsibility for their mistake. Thankfully, I reached out to the birthday boy and he reimbursed me directly once I explained what happened. What bothered me most wasn't the billing error (mistakes happen), but the complete lack of accountability and professionalism. From the dismissive attitude to the refusal to even attempt an investigation, the customer service was genuinely pathetic. You expect this kind of experience from Chuck E. But I'm here to tell you that the food at Vinyl is incredible! They recently just hired an executive chef to ramp up their dining program, because they want to be known for both cocktails and food. When you see the menu, you may think it's just bar food, but I promise you it is all wonderfully delicious - almost unexpectedly, so. So I can't wait to see what they're going to do with this new or expanded menu. The price point is fair for all of the menu items. I think the most charming thing about this establishment is the connection to music. All of the decorative details honoring so many of the great musicians who have passed on really speaks to my soul. I highly recommend this spot whether you're going after work for drinks or on a first date. It's perfect that way. It's located in South End so parking can be challenging. In a Wednesday evening, it was a little slow and the service was not as quick as we would have expected with it not being busy but other than that, all good! It's located in Southend, on Tryon/Summit, in the mix of many establishments all around. It's super easy to get to via light rail, car/Uber or a scooter if you're in the area. Vinyl Brunch is 10/10 I love vinyl. I have been going for lunches and dinners and recently tried their new brunch. Outside patio is so fun, and even includes heaters when weather is colder. I got the sauce on the side, more for preference to dip rather than smother, but would recommend doing the same if you're not sure of the spice level. Our friend's husband was denied entry for a supposed dress code violation, even though he was wearing high-end Essentials attire. It felt discriminatory and deeply disappointing. Thankfully, we made our way to Vinyl and the experience was completely different. The staff welcomed us warmly, the crowd was diverse, and we were able to enjoy the rest of our night without judgment. Vinyl showed what true hospitality looks like. While both venues are part of Charlotte's nightlife scene, they are very different establishments. However hospitality is hospitality. Crave left us disheartened. Our waitress, Madison was super helpful making recommendations and she did not steer us wrong. The Peri Peri Chicken Wings are sweet, crisp, spicy and addicting. The homemade Salt & Vinegar chips with the sweet sour cream and onion dip are amazing too. As good as those were, the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Sliders were the best thing (and Madison's top recommendation) on the menu. Super crispy, sweet and not too spicy for perfect flavor.
