Carne Asada taco & Chicken Tinga taco
    Lesley M.

Love this place...glad our original plan fell through so we stopped here! What a fun restaurant with great food and music! The two tacos I had were delicious...chicken tinga and carne asada. Both were flavorful, topped with fresh ingredients...the chicken has a kicked with it too. I tried the fried ice cream, and I agree that it was ok but had too much crunchy cereal for my liking. The queso was great along with their chips. Hands down quick service too...overall excellence and will definitely come back when we come back to the area.

We stopped here while having to kill time and needed to grab lunch between events. In my youngest son's words "this place is amazing". He and I both grabbed the steak fajita tacos, and we shared queso. He had never had fried ice cream so of course he had to try that afterwards. The steak fajita tacos were flavorful, loaded with peppers and onions, sour cream, and cheese. The fried ice cream was loaded with crispy cereal flakes which he said took away from the ice cream flavor. The service was fairly fast for being packed during lunch on Saturday. They didn't have a lot of local beers on tap which was somewhat surprising. I really liked the vibe of this restaurant, and they played really good music. If we are in Sioux Falls again, I definitely want to stop here for more tacos.

The tacos here are so good! The mango one is our favorite, but a close second is the cilantro lime. I wasn't a giant fan of the shrimp taco, but they were all good! They have really good variety. The cheesecake dessert is also good! The interior of the restaurant is a really cool vibe and the service was good too.

We were looking for a place to grab a quick bit for lunch. I am so glad I found Vinyl Taco on our road trip. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was amazing. I love theme bars, and this is such a cool spot. I love everything from the Mexican flare to the rock music played from vinyl records and unique touches throughout the entire restaurant. I am sad that this place is not closer to me. The cilantro lime chicken taco was my favorite. My fiancée doesn't usually order chicken for his burrito. He did this time, OMG! That smoked chicken was amazing. And I LOVE that when you order a margarita, you get the actual ounces in alcohol drink without the ice. Fantastic experience.

This was our first time coming to Vinyl Taco. I was surprised as to how small the restaurant was. Our booth had the coolest table top. It was made out of old album covers. I ordered the Fatijs Fiesta bowl. It tasted ok. The chicken had a weird texture to it and it lacked traditional Mexican flavors. After we asked for guacamole, the dish improved. My partner ordered 2 different tacos: steak fajita and Barbacoa. I took advantage of the $2 margaritas and the glass they presented it in...If you were an Elf, then you would have loved the child sized glass the Margarita came in. I tasted no alcohol in the two that I drank. My partner thoroughly enjoyed his Surly Axe Man IPA. THE BEST PART OF OUR DATE NIGHT.....Miniature Bowling!!!!! We loved the price. Every Wednesday night it's only $3 per person to bowl. I think we played 5 or 6 games. It was so much fun....and we loved Traycin, the Surfer Dude bartender. He was so awesome and professional. And a shout out to whomever cleans the women's restrooms: HURRAH!!!!!

We started with the chips and guacamole. I was not impressed with the guacamole, but it wasn't bad, just bland. It needed a little more garlic, some onion and lime. We also ordered the standard margaritas. They come in a bottle, with a piece of rosemary inside, and you pour your own. These tasted sweet, but were actually strong. The pork belly taco was pretty underwhelming. It was rather dry, but the au jus on the side helped it out a little bit. The chicken tinga was hands down the best part of the experience. It was a little on the spicy side, but nothing crazy. The service was fine and the atmosphere was relaxed and hip. The patio is a fun area when the weather is nice.

This is separate from the restaurant next door, next door is Vinyl Taco and this is Vinyl Social - The restaurant has a full bar and the social club only has appetizers. (Which I've pictured, they're printed on the record) There are plenty of things to do - Nintendo, ski ball, shuffleboard, giant Jenga, ping pong, beer pong, checkers, dancing and more. Be mindful though, you pay for most of the games you'll play, much like in life (though I'm not sure if they make you pay for Jenga) This place is a reason for retirees and parents with a herd of kids to leave the house and play games. Its cool. Those of us that enjoyed Bucks in the early 2000's can come and enjoy more debauchery at the same location. We're old enough for social clubs but too old (yes, believe it) for clubs and bars. Welcome drunk, you're home. Its got an old school set up with a full bar but I only ordered a soda while here - it was silly and small- $2.50/soda, 1 refill - but its a cool joint where the music is too loud and you're bound to have some fun. :) Stop by.

On a work trip, Yelp was raving about this new local joint. Sioux Falls is much more than I was expecting, and Vinyl Taco was one of those reasons. It is 21+, whether you're eating at their restaurant side, or going to their social club that is attached. The adult exclusivity adds to the mature, fun atmosphere--no kids allowed, and it is refreshing because you can play and eat like a kid here! Their menu is pack-filled with every sort of taco option...my favorite being the crispy chicken taco. We also got an order of their chips and queso, their chips are crunchy and crisp. Their margaritas are so good, and so cheap. Being from Nashville I'm not used to drinks being so cheap, so this was a treat! You can get them by the glass or purchase a medium or large pitcher. We went with the strawberry margaritas, a perfect boozy fruity blend. I had such a blast hanging out here. The menus were displayed on vinyl covers. We were greeted with fun décor like a lava lamp wall, and there were plenty of games next door from bowling and karaoke to beer pong and pinball!

We ate here on opening night. Our server was great. Sorry I didn't remember his name. He recommended drinks and appetizers. We got here early and it filled up quickly. We ordered the tortilla popper appetizer. It was amazing. The best. I had the pina colada and my partner had the pineapple ale. Entrees were good. My partner ordered the gringo tacos. I had the fajita bowl. And we finished it off with the churro waffle. That was delicious. Great atmosphere. Friendly service. Good food. You will enjoy this place.

ONLY OVER 21! First time we tried coming here we had our daughter and found out it is over 21 only. Second time we came with just adults. Unlike most Mexican restaurants they do not have complimentary chips and salsa. We ordered chips and queso. They were really good, actually better than our food. I ordered the burrito and my wife ordered enchiladas. The burrito was ok but the green sauce wasn't great. The enchiladas were not good and red daisy tasted like plain tomato sauce. Prices were kind of high. The ambience is cool rock and roll themed. I probably would not eat here again but would stop for a drink. They have a nice game area with mini bowling, pinball, ski ball, and some other games.

Was in town for the week for work. Like to try local flavors when out. Atmosphere and service is TOP NOTCH! Food was reasonably priced and out of this world. Great flavors. Tacos are sold by each so you can try one or all. Be sure and try the Tortilla Poppers appetizer. Craft beers and cocktails bring the experience together. Can't forget to mention the classic music spinning on vinyl or the menus on old album covers.

It was a great place! But if a Mexican restaurant does not bring you salsa right away with a basket of chips. It deserves a 1 star.

A rarity for late-night drunk food spots, Gili-b's is actually some super legit Mexican food. I've come here for lunch dozens of times when the food and kitchen is fresh, the customers are sober, and the employees aren't stressed by a bunch of drunken jerks asking for ridiculous orders and demanding their food be ready with the speed of Taco Bell. Since I'm gluten free, the street tacos are my go-to. Nothing better than meat in corn tortillas, topped off with onions and cilantro. What else do you need? Alright, their salsas and sauces are also excellent. My favorites are the chorizo, carnitas, carne asada, chicharron and lengua (unfortunately they are sometimes sold out of this one). Plus a tamarind Jarritos. Our last meal before moving from Sioux Falls was here (sober and in the daytime), and anytime I'm back in town I'm heading here IMMEDIATELY.

The vegetable burrito contained lettuce, beans, spoonful of cheese, and pico de gallo. Not a single vegetable on it?! Ordered cheese enchiladas and got chicken. Do you not ask for pico de gallo, ranchero or enchilada sauce because all you'll get is their hot spicy salsa. My children do speak fluent Spanish so there should not be a language barrier. What once was the up-and-coming best takeout restaurant in Sioux Falls, which could be franchised, has turned into overpriced takeout. With competition being fierce amongst new authentic Mexican takeout, They need to both step up their game and get back to reasonable pricing.

By that point I was already seated and committed, but that's something I wish I'd checked beforehand. Because of that, I intentionally ordered something that would come out hot. Wasn't about to order a salad or anything that didn't need to be cooked. So I ordered the fajitas with chicken, steak, and shrimp. You know how fajitas are supposed to come out sizzling on a hot plate? These didn't. They weren't cold, but you could definitely tell everything had been sitting back there for an extended amount of time. They didn't taste fresh at all. And it gets worse. Every time I've ordered fajitas with cheese and bacon anywhere else, you get solid melted cheese and crispy bacon. Here? Runny cheese sauce and bacon that had zero crispiness to it. The whole thing was a mess. The meat portions? Ok the pieces were cut up small. I was picking through all the vegetables and onions trying to find actual pieces of chicken and steak. A lot of peppers and onions. The Verdict: Plaza Azteca was a miss. The margaritas were decent but the fajitas were a lukewarm, runny, disappointing mess with small pieces of meat. Combine that with odd service and some concerning health reviews, and this is a two star experience at best. Won't be going back.

We were both in the mood for Mexican, this was very close and the ratings looked good. The bar looked impressive as we walked in and after we were seated, we started with 24oz Margaritas (see picture) to accompany our free chips, salsa & white sauce (see picture). While the Margaritas were quite large, we both commented that they seemed a bit weak on the alcohol (or it is possible that they used Reposado tequila with less flavor). My wife decided to order the Combo #2 (pork tamale, ground beef enchilada & ground beef hard shell taco - see picture) while I went with the street tacos - Carnitas (pulled pork), Pollo (chicken) & Al Pastor (spit-roasted pork). We both enjoyed the Combo, with my favorite part being the pork tamale. I'm a big fan of corn tortilla street tacos and found them all to be very good - but my favorite was the Al Pastor. A quick Google search indicated that Al Pastor is a spit-roasted pork influenced by Lebanese shawarma - marinated and then cooked on a vertical rotisserie. This carmelizes the edges, resulting in a savory, tangy and slightly sweet flavor. Whatever the science...I found it delicious! If you found this review helpful, please Share, Follow & Like.
