I didn't like this place at all. I got tomato juice, it tasted awful.. It tasted like the cup had beer n just dumped it out n not wash it and just poured tomato juice in it. My fruit cup was very sour and soggy. Pancakes were ok as well. I don't think I'll be coming back. read more

This was a great find. Had my mind set on a different place to eat but it was closed. Drove down the 101 and just got off the freeway on a lark. This place popped up, looked crowded (a good sign) so we pulled in. Got seated immediately. Cheerful waitress took our order and wow! It came out fast and good. Went here for brunch and had the Loco Moco. Being from Hawaii, it surprised me to see loco moco on the menu so I had no choice but to try it. Surprisingly it was just like how it should be made. I'm assuming the owners have roots in Hawaii because there was even portugese sausage (THE BEST BREAKFAST FOOD IN THE WORLD) on the menu. The prices are good too, and it feels like how a diner should feel. It gets really busy, so expect to wait in line for a table during the busy hours. read more

I'm a waffle snob so when I ordered the waffles, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was crispy but soft and flavorful. Extra points for being able to sit right away on a weekend morning around 9. Service was fast and friendly. There's a lot of free parking at the back. read more

One of my favorite no frills breakfast joints. The staff is so welcoming and friendly! Service is quick. The have the BEST fresh squeezed OJ! I love both their home fries and their crispy hash browns. Their eggs are always cooked perfectly! I'm gluten free so they bring me corn tortillas instead of toast. I'm happy! Only negative-they cook the bacon a bit too much. It's beyond crispy and sometimes burnt. I'll live. I love this place. read more

Went here for brunch and was happy to find a breakfast place we could get in to without a wait on a Sunday. When we walked in the owner greeted us in such an unexpected friendly manner. He was genuinely grateful for his customers. Our server was super nice. I love that they have kept the old school diner look and kept the prices down with it. When you order the bacon well done, it truly comes out well done! We all had breakfast foods and they were all delicious. The gravy could have had a little more flavor though. When we left the owner went out of his way to thank us again and tell us how happy he was to see us. read more

This is probably one of the last mid-century ambiance coffee shop/family restaurants left on Ventura Blvd. , south/west SFV. Wor wonton soup is a meal to savor. All-around treasure of by-gone days. All-American breakfasts and diversity inclusion in menu. Lots of photos on walls if celebrities and especially coach John Wooden from UCLA. Outside seating among palm trees and Buddha fountain. I came in at a busy hour...11am Sunday morning. I ordered a sirloin steak (medium well) and eggs. It came back and it was medium rare - pretty bloody!!! Told the waitress I am not count dracula....got it back but too cooked. There is a reason why I asked medium well in the first place. Then I had to share the coffe creamer and ketchup with the entire counter. My first impression of this place is not too good. One goof up is probably ok, but three negatives make it bad. I have been a patron of this restaurant for over 10 years, and I go there for good consistent food at a reasonable price. There is no other restaurant in the valley that fills the bill like VIP.....Most importantly, the owners are nicest and most attentive owners I have ever met. Thay are always there with a genuine friendly smile....they treat you like family. The same goes for the staff. The same 2 gentlemen have been cooking back there since I have been going, and the service staff has never changed. That says more about these people than any food review. The food was decent. I got the eggs Benedict and I really liked the sauce. It was lemony and different from other sauces and I usually get gets Benedict when I go out. I tried both the hash browns and home fries. The hash brown was lacking flavor. I found a hair in my home fries. They weren't really cooked well. Overall it was an okay place to try out. read more

This is a divey little neighborhood place, so don't expect big ambiance. It serves breakfast and lunch only, but it's decent. The food can be a tad on the bland side, and it's not the kind of place for big expectations where food is concerned, but it is solid and consistent. Typical breakfasts, salads, burgers, etc. They have daily specials that are very inexpensive. Where this place shines is the service. The staff have been there for a long time, and are incredibly pleasant. REAL servers, not kids who know nothing about the restaurant business. These servers are long-time pros who remember what you like to eat and drink, and call you by name. Makes me nostalgic for the days when most servers were like this. read more
