Lazy Saturday and we wanted brunch. I ordered the cornmeal fried shrimp PoBoy with the north south fries. The fries were delicious. Seasoning on north fries was just right. Nice bite on the pickles. Felt a little too much breading on the shrimp, but portion size is great for the price. That watermelon lemonade was fresh and fire!

Nice spot with a modern, inviting interior and a comfortable atmosphere. The service was excellent--friendly, attentive, and fast. The salad came with a bit too much dressing and condiments for my taste, which overpowered the fresh ingredients. The fried chicken was decent but a little on the salty side. The waffle was very thin, reminding me of the style served at Roscoe's rather than a thick, fluffy Belgian waffle. Overall, it's not a bad place if you're craving chicken and waffles, but don't expect anything especially unique.

Do want good food served with southern style? Look no further than this restaurant with great service and food to match! You are greeted with a smile and hello, and given a menu with combos of tongue lovingly ' gut bustin' fare. The everything biscuit is home biscuit made with everything seasoning. The pitmaster scramble is packed with taste and is hearty! If you're hungry after that, you have a hollow leg. The French toast casserole is loaded with blueberries and a fiery hotlink. I had the peach apricot ginger beer that is refreshing with a tasty ginger bite. Also it's made right there! [[HIGHLIGHT]]My advice, go have some "Slap yo' mama good" food with southern style service, music filling the air with good cookin', and decor that reminds you of an old timer diner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then, grab a ginger beer bottle to drink at home, then bring it back for a $1.00 refund! Thanks again!

I love Mama Bird! It is a little bit far from my home so we don't go often. The foods here are worth to drive. The foods are healthy and fresh. I usually come here for breakfast. It was my first time for dinner. I tried Chopped Brisket Salad. It was very good. It looked small but I couldn't finish it. I definitely order it again. Burger and fries were good too. I like candy jalapeño. I love watermelon strawberry lemonade. I always order it when I eat here. Our server was good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is nice and clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This. This right here, is everything. The butterscotch pudding is to die for.

Sometimes you just want really good Southern comfort food. I was really craving that, and wanted to try some place I hadn't been before. That's when I stumbled across Mama bird. This place is located in a shopping center, you really can't miss it unless you tried, they have great signage out front so it's pretty hard to miss. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside, the place has great vibes. They do a great job of combining a semi rustic feel with a neat and contemporary eating establishment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm not saying this is like Cracker Barrel at all, but I am saying that they've got some barrels lining the top over the bar. Which is pretty awesome, especially when you see all of the bourbon beneath.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was really in the mood for some brisket, but I also wanted a salad. Fortunately for me, they had a chopped brisket salad that sounded amazing. I ordered that with the biscuit.. because, hey, if you're going Southern you got to have a biscuit. The salad came out in this small colander. The presentation was really awesome, but I was a little worried that that salad was not going to be enough to fill me up. Well let me tell you, they pack a ton of solid in that colander! Is instead of just throwing a handful on top, they spread it out throughout the entire salad. It was perfectly dressed, and had these amazing candied jalapenos. Next time I go I'm going to order more of those, they are so worth it! Of course, if you're looking for Southern comfort food, you absolutely have to have dessert. I opted for the butterscotch pudding. Let me tell you something, this is not your ordinary Jello butterscotch pudding. The stuff is made fresh, and it's made with knob Creek bourbon. Yes, you heard me right. This is definitely a boozy pudding. The only thing I wish it had, was a shot of knob Creek on the side. Maybe if management reads this they can make that suggestion to the bar. Anyway, that pudding was absolutely amazing! I seriously could have eaten two or three of those. All in all I was extremely pleased with Mama bird. This place has it all and I'm looking forward to coming back and trying it all in the very near future. Bottom line? There are a lot of good choices for southern food in the Las Vegas area. I can say I've eaten it every one of them, but for right now monow bird is in my top five of best Southern cooking establishments that I've been to. You really need to go try this one!

Stopped by Mama Bird while visiting family in Las Vegas and wow--this place delivered. I went with the chicken fingers (had to try something simple), and they were outstanding. Super crispy, well-seasoned, and clearly not your average tenders. Big shoutout to our server, Agata--she was fantastic. Friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Service like that really stands out. Great food, great service, and a spot I'd definitely come back to next time I'm in Vegas. Highly recommend.

First of all let's talk about Gio! This guy is an amazing server who continued to go above and beyond for us. And can we hear it for Chef?! More to come... When we travel to Vegas, we don't venture off the strip because we fly in. So when we had the opportunity from our road trip to explore outside and try some of the amazing restaurants we decided to try this place out. We called ahead to see if there was outside seating and that it was dog friendly. We were happy to hear that it was! Drinks- Watermelon Lemonade is chef's kiss! Everything is freshly juiced and made in-house. 10/10 recommend l. Starters- We started with the deviled eggs and they were delicious. The candied jalapeños were a great touch to balance out the savory. I'm normally a weakling when it comes to jalapeños, but the candied version was subtle. Get the 3 if sharing with someone so you don't overload ahead of the generous entrees. Entrees- We opted for the two piece fried chicken thighs with mac & cheese and jalapeño cornbread. The fried chicken was delicious. They brine the chicken for three days and it tasted tender and flavor packed! I don't like mac & cheese and it is never my first choice or my second choice, but whatever sorcery is in this mac & cheese I must know. It was delicious and not heavy on the cheddar taste - subtle and slightly rich. Loved that the pasta was al dente. Now here's where our boy Gio comes in. We came here to try the fried chicken AND the brisket. However, we learned that the brisket cannot be sold under a pound. They only charge by the pound. Knowing that we had a hearty entree coming with the chicken thighs, we knew we would not be able to eat a pound of brisket in addition. So we tried to get creative and say we'll just order the grilled cheese put the brisket on the side LOL. Gio went above and beyond and spoke with the Chef so that we could try the brisket on its own. So shout out to Gio and Chef for making that accommodation for us. But the customer service didn't stop there. Gio brought out some water for our pup and the Chef even gave her a small burnt end, which, of course, she was thrilled about. We really appreciated the hospitality that was shown to all of us, including our pup, and for the extra mile that they went. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As far as dog friendly goes, I think the above speaks for itself. There are two large tables outside of the restaurant which they consider their patio. Feel free to bring your pup and enjoy amazing food and fantastic service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I got a bunch of spots saved on my yelp and honestly I never get around to all of em but I finally made it out to Mama Bird. After taking my wife to take pics at the welcome to Vegas sign and 7 magic mountains. I ended up getting the pit master. I was l stuck for a min trying to decide what to get, everything sounded good, but im pretty sure you cant really go wrong here Food came out lookin fire and tasted even better. the meats were juicy and had hella flavor. also dont be scared of the jalapeños. they are more sweet than spicy so they actually go real good with everything [[HIGHLIGHT]]place had a good vibe, nothing crazy just chill and solid food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Wow! We woke up this morning and said that let's have some southern food. We Mama Birds and the food and the service was amazing. Agata is a total sweetheart. She introduced herself, introduced us to the menu along with making some recommendation. We ordered chicken waffle, pork scrambled, and the biscuits and gravy. Of course, i must have a sweet tea. At the end of breakfast, our nine-year-old complaint was she's so sick because the food was so good and she ate way too much. Agata made the experience that much better. She is soft spoken and checks on us here and there. :) We included some photos. Sorry. We started eating and took photos after a few bites. The food is delicious!

Holy brisket! I've been to pretty much every bbq place in Vegas & this was the best I've ever had; moist fall apart! Their apple coleslaw was tremendous! Nothing like it ever! Had such a great time with excellent service-shout out Crystal!!

Extremely delicious. Been flirting with coming here for years, last meal of the year out was here with friends (who'd also never been and were excited to come) and it didn't disappoint! The doors super heavy but a nice guy headed the same way rushed over to open it and that set the tone. Our friends were seated, we joined them and Crystal quickly came over and introduced herself. Our friends used to be in the restaurant business so through their questions I learned that so much of what's served is made in house. I was shocked to learn the ginger beer was house made. My kinda place! I did apricot peach. So delicious. We came during happy hour so we did the pickles n green beans w dill ranch and deviled eggs for the table. The pickles n beans were my favorite. The egg didn't do it for me. 3/4 of us ordered the brisket and rib combo. 1 just did all brisket. The meat was SO tender. I love the bark on the ribs and the brisket was fall apart tender w a similar bark on the edges. I did cheddar grits. Fantastic flavor. There were hints of onion in there too. Woman did the greens. I loved those too. Our friends did slaw and mac, which they also said was delicious. Woman's ribs were overcooked in comparison to the other two of us. I wish she'd gotten another piece but she gave it to our friends. The water was meh so I switched to sparkling. The biscuit was also not a fave. It's called an everything biscuit. I thought it was going to be a honey butter one. No one was particularly crazy about it but the cornbread had jalapeños so that was out. The menu is small yet vast and impressive. I had curiosity around the watermelon soft serve but was told they were out. The parkings always chaotic around here but it's worth braving. They also own Hola - which I went to but don't remember the food, and rise and shine where I guess they wear pajamas which is cool. Service was solid. I ran out of sparkling at one point, but my glass didn't sit empty too long before Crystal brought me a fresh one. She was very attentive, knowledgeable, kind and patient. I'll absolutely be back. I want to try the pulled pork and their catfish. The place is cute, just be prepared for country music. Thanks for a great meal and experience. Cat man's LOVING the ribs and the briskets so tender he's enjoying that too (and he barely eats beef when served as cat food. Let alone human food!)

What a great little spot to drive to and enjoy a little breakfast with the family! We were greeted as soon as we walked into the restaurant and sat right away. I was sort of surprised by this since it was a Saturday during what I would assume is the breakfast rush. We had a starter of fried pickles and those were just perfect. I've never had them a thin slice like that before but they we're truly like pickle fries!! My boyfriend was ecstatic to try the bloody Marys with bourbon. Definitely more up his alley than mine but he must have loved them as he had two! I tried to piece of the bacon that was in the bloody Mary but the bourbon flavor was very strong for me. Grits were AMAZING! I ordered grits and pork belly, to me the grits were the standout of the meal. Just need a little bit of salt on top but that's just my personal preference, and they had cheese in there. Just amazing!! And I know the chicken fried steak with gravy was amazing because I didn't even get a bite of it. He ate it right up! Guess that means we'll be going back to try more!

Ask the Community - Mama Bird

    Do you folks take reservations?

Hi Eric, This is Ariel from Mama Bird. We’re a first-come, first-served restaurant and don’t take reservations, but we’ll be happy to get you seated as quickly as possible…

How busy are they on weekends?

What kind of oil is used for deep frying the chicken? (I only ask because I get upset stomach with certain oils like soy bean oil). Thank you!

Hello Erik, Unfortunately, we do use soy bean oil to fry our chicken.

Is the other location (near Summerlin) now closed?

Unfortunately, yes that location is now closed.

Are reservations recommended for a weekend dinner?

generally reservations are always a good idea - but normally they are not needed -

What's the difference between north and south fries?

North fries= crinkle fries, just regular fries South fries = sweet potato fries

When are you opening the southwest location?

I asked last time I was at the restaurant and was told aug/sept for the opening of the sw location. Right now it's still completely gutted inside there. So it's not open at all.

    Is there Apple Pay?

We do not accept Apple Pay/Samsung Pay at this time.

Which is the north fried and which is the south fries?

North fries are crinkle cut potato fries. South fries or sweet potato fries.

Can you get fried chicken and barbecue items all day or are there 'lunch' hours?

    Full menu available all day.

Any plans to serve hush puppies?

    This would be amazing!

    Are you open for Thanksgiving?

No. We are closed to spend time with our families.

    Are there Vegetarian options?

Just go to there website and check out there menu.

    Any vegan options?

I did not see any vegan options on the menu when I went .

Our waitress was super friendly and upbeat but she immediately let us know that there was only one order of fried chicken left if we wanted to order it. We were not ordering fried chicken so it wasn't an issue but I thought it was odd that this is an item they would run out of on a Sunday. I ordered the chicken fried steak which came with mashed potatoes and greens. My husband ordered the catfish dinner which came with hush puppies, grits and greens. The food arrived pretty quick and was hot. My chicken fried steak was just ok. The mashed potatoes were good and the greens were the worst I've had. It was like a pound of sugar in them. Caught me off guard. It was so sweet that it was inedible. My husband's fried catfish was prepared perfectly! (We asked for it to be fried hard) It was hot, fresh and well seasoned! The hush puppies were a bit dry and taste like they roll it in the same fish fry as the catfish as it had a slight fishy taste but the grits were amazing! It had a white gravy/sauce on top of it and it was just soo good! I had wished I ordered his plate even tho we swapped a few forkfuls. One thing I noticed was the menu had changed. Based on other yelp posts, there were items that I had in mind I wanted to try when I got there like the egg rolls. The menu is vastly downsized from when they first opened which was a bummer. Usually when a restaurant downsizes their menu by that much, it's usually a sign it won't be open much longer. So go while you can if it's a place you've been wanting to try. We paid almost $80 for 2 dinners (not including tip). We did not get drinks since we had been drinking earlier. The price wasn't too bad for a sit down restaurant inside a Vegas casino.

Service was solid too, everybody attentive without doing too much. Drinks: I got the drink flight and I gotta keep it real... this was my only real complaint. Out of the four drinks, only ONE was good. I don't remember all the names, but the golden one with Jack Honey was cool. The other three? Easy passes. For $42, that ain't it. 3/10 Appetizers: Now let's talk food. The biscuits are CRAZY. Soft, buttery, fresh, and that pepper jam takes it to another level. They even put the jam in the hush puppies which is a power move. 10/10 The crab cakes were fire too. All flavor, real crab meat, no filler nonsense. Definitely something I'd order again. 9/10 Main Plate: I ordered the fried fish with Brussels sprouts and mac & cheese. The fish was top tier. Fried perfect, seasoned right, crispy but not greasy. 8/10 The Brussels were mixed with sweet potatoes, good balance, good flavor, just nothing that made me lose my mind. 7/10 The mac & cheese wasn't for me. Thick cheese sauce but no real flavor behind it. Just kinda there. 4/10 Overall: All in all, it was a good experience. Great service, good food, and a solid atmosphere. Even with a couple misses, I'd still come back and try more off the menu. Nellie's definitely worth checking out.

Our server was kind, helpful, attentive, and just everything you look for in a server. We waited about 20 minutes to be sat, but you'd expect that at a breakfast place at breakfast time. No concern there. I ordere chicken fried steak- amazing, gritz bites - double amazing, tried my husbands sweet potato waffle - triple amazing! The mac and cheese was just fine. I would easily go back again just got the chicken fried steak, sweet potato waffle, or gritz bites. The ambiance is quite nice. Theres a table dedicated to the matriarch of the establishment, which really adds to the southern, home cooked vibes. The to go counter was busy the whole time we sat, but they seemed to move quickly. We were close enough to the door to hear the hostess telling people they were running out of certain items and that the would had increased to 30 or 40 minutes. Be sure to get there early to not miss out. Everyone was friendly, and the food was phenomenal. Can't ask for anything else.

Gritz Café Review…read more "The Day Vegas Introduced Us to Catfish, Sweet Potato Waffles... and a Missing Collard Green Mystery." June 17, 2026 -- the day Tiffany got insider intel from a Vegas local who told her, "You HAVE to try Gritz Café."That was all she needed to hear. She told me, I checked my Las Vegas Yelp food list, and sure enough -- Gritz Café was already saved. Destiny. Since Tiffany was already near the restaurant and I was still at the hotel, I ordered online. We couldn't enjoy the dine‑in experience this time, but we're saving that for the sequel. The Orders Tiffany went with one of her go‑to comfort dishes: Biscuit & Gravy Scrambled egg hard Potatoes with fried onions I saw Catfish on the menu and immediately felt spiritually connected. I ordered The Mississippi: 3 fried catfish pieces (grilled next time) Collard greens Steamed mixed vegetables Sweet Potato Waffle Extra tartar sauce Extra syrup Then came the hardest part: waiting for Tiffany and the food.I'm a smart husband, so I won't say which one I was more excited for. The Arrival... and the Plot Twist Tiffany arrived with the food, we unpacked everything, and immediately noticed two things missing: My collard greens Her scrambled egg Vegas giveth, Vegas taketh away. Tiffany's Biscuit & Gravy She said it was outstanding, even with the twist:The sausage was cut into pieces and placed on top instead of mixed in.Different, but delicious.Only the missing egg kept it from perfection. My Catfish & Waffle Combo The catfish wasn't as big or thick as the ones I get back home, but the flavor was outstanding -- seasoned and cooked perfectly. The Sweet Potato Waffle?A revelation.Perfect size, perfect thickness, perfect flavor.I'm now a believer. The steamed vegetables were... vegetables. They served their purpose and made me feel like I made at least one healthy decision. But I was really looking forward to those collard greens. Customer Service Redemption Tiffany called the restaurant and was transferred to the manager, Olivia. She was extremely apologetic and assured us the refund would hit my card by the end of the day.(At the time of this writing, it hasn't shown up yet -- but we're giving Vegas grace.) Final Verdict Even with the missing items, the food was delicious, the flavors were on point, and the service recovery was handled well. We're excited to return -- in person -- on our next Vegas trip.Because Gritz Café deserves a proper dine‑in moment.
