On our way back to California from Vegas, we pulled off the road into a pleasant little town called South Hills, Nevada. I've been to Vegas countless times and had never even heard of this place. What started as a quick restroom stop at Terrible's turned into an incredible midday meal at Mama Bird. Came here with a party of 4, we got sat immediately. lt was almost a full house. When it was time to order they said they were out of chicken thighs. Mind you it was at 11:15 A.M. and it's a fried chicken restaurant, so that's absolutely ridiculous to me. We waited about an hour for our food to come out with no updates on anything. They could've said they were understaffed or they forgot to put in our order or something but no updates, absolutely nothing. I think they were even trying to avoid us because we're Asian. Also, a party was seated after us and left 10mins after. Honestly, we should've followed their lead. Chicken were 6.5/10; size of the chicken were huge I'll give them that. Sometimes you just want really good Southern comfort food. I was really craving that, and wanted to try some place I hadn't been before. That's when I stumbled across Mama bird. Fortunately for me, they had a chopped brisket salad that sounded amazing. I ordered that with the biscuit.. because, hey, if you're going Southern you got to have a biscuit. The salad came out in this small colander. The presentation was really awesome, but I was a little worried that that salad was not going to be enough to fill me up. Well let me tell you, they pack a ton of solid in that colander! Is instead of just throwing a handful on top, they spread it out throughout the entire salad. It was perfectly dressed, and had these amazing candied jalapenos. Next time I go I'm going to order more of those, they are so worth it! Let me tell you something, this is not your ordinary Jello butterscotch pudding. The stuff is made fresh, and it's made with knob Creek bourbon. Yes, you heard me right. This is definitely a boozy pudding. The only thing I wish it had, was a shot of knob Creek on the side. Maybe if management reads this they can make that suggestion to the bar. Anyway, that pudding was absolutely amazing! I seriously could have eaten two or three of those. All in all I was extremely pleased with Mama bird. First of all let's talk about Gio! This guy is an amazing server who continued to go above and beyond for us. And can we hear it for Chef?! More to come... When we travel to Vegas, we don't venture off the strip because we fly in. So when we had the opportunity from our road trip to explore outside and try some of the amazing restaurants we decided to try this place out. We called ahead to see if there was outside seating and that it was dog friendly. We were happy to hear that it was! Drinks- Watermelon Lemonade is chef's kiss! Everything is freshly juiced and made in-house. 10/10 recommend l. Starters- We started with the deviled eggs and they were delicious. The candied jalapeños were a great touch to balance out the savory. I'm normally a weakling when it comes to jalapeños, but the candied version was subtle. Get the 3 if sharing with someone so you don't overload ahead of the generous entrees. Entrees- We opted for the two piece fried chicken thighs with mac & cheese and jalapeño cornbread. The fried chicken was delicious. They brine the chicken for three days and it tasted tender and flavor packed! I don't like mac & cheese and it is never my first choice or my second choice, but whatever sorcery is in this mac & cheese I must know. It was delicious and not heavy on the cheddar taste - subtle and slightly rich. Loved that the pasta was al dente. Now here's where our boy Gio comes in. We came here to try the fried chicken AND the brisket. However, we learned that the brisket cannot be sold under a pound. They only charge by the pound. Knowing that we had a hearty entree coming with the chicken thighs, we knew we would not be able to eat a pound of brisket in addition. So we tried to get creative and say we'll just order the grilled cheese put the brisket on the side LOL. Gio went above and beyond and spoke with the Chef so that we could try the brisket on its own. So shout out to Gio and Chef for making that accommodation for us. But the customer service didn't stop there. Gio brought out some water for our pup and the Chef even gave her a small burnt end, which, of course, she was thrilled about. We really appreciated the hospitality that was shown to all of us, including our pup, and for the extra mile that they went. After taking my wife to take pics at the welcome to Vegas sign and 7 magic mountains. I ended up getting the pit master. She introduced herself, introduced us to the menu along with making some recommendation. We ordered chicken waffle, pork scrambled, and the biscuits and gravy. Of course, i must have a sweet tea. At the end of breakfast, our nine-year-old complaint was she's so sick because the food was so good and she ate way too much. Agata made the experience that much better. The doors super heavy but a nice guy headed the same way rushed over to open it and that set the tone. Our friends were seated, we joined them and Crystal quickly came over and introduced herself. Our friends used to be in the restaurant business so through their questions I learned that so much of what's served is made in house. I was shocked to learn the ginger beer was house made. My kinda place! I did apricot peach. So delicious. We came during happy hour so we did the pickles n green beans w dill ranch and deviled eggs for the table. The pickles n beans were my favorite. The egg didn't do it for me. 3/4 of us ordered the brisket and rib combo. 1 just did all brisket. The meat was SO tender. I love the bark on the ribs and the brisket was fall apart tender w a similar bark on the edges. I did cheddar grits. Fantastic flavor. There were hints of onion in there too. Woman did the greens. I loved those too. Our friends did slaw and mac, which they also said was delicious. Woman's ribs were overcooked in comparison to the other two of us. I wish she'd gotten another piece but she gave it to our friends. The water was meh so I switched to sparkling. The biscuit was also not a fave. It's called an everything biscuit. I thought it was going to be a honey butter one. No one was particularly crazy about it but the cornbread had jalapeños so that was out. The menu is small yet vast and impressive. I had curiosity around the watermelon soft serve but was told they were out. The parkings always chaotic around here but it's worth braving. They also own Hola - which I went to but don't remember the food, and rise and shine where I guess they wear pajamas which is cool. Service was solid. I ran out of sparkling at one point, but my glass didn't sit empty too long before Crystal brought me a fresh one. She was very attentive, knowledgeable, kind and patient. I'll absolutely be back. What a great little spot to drive to and enjoy a little breakfast with the family! We were greeted as soon as we walked into the restaurant and sat right away. I was sort of surprised by this since it was a Saturday during what I would assume is the breakfast rush. We had a starter of fried pickles and those were just perfect. I've never had them a thin slice like that before but they we're truly like pickle fries!! My boyfriend was ecstatic to try the bloody Marys with bourbon. Definitely more up his alley than mine but he must have loved them as he had two! I tried to piece of the bacon that was in the bloody Mary but the bourbon flavor was very strong for me. Grits were AMAZING! I ordered grits and pork belly, to me the grits were the standout of the meal. Our biggest issue was a miscommunication among the staff about who was supposed to serve our table. This became a problem because we were hoping for a quick and memorable last stop on our Vegas trip. The team apologized repeatedly once the mistake was realized, and the service improved after that, but the initial confusion did set things back. As for the food, I enjoyed the deviled eggs since the candied jalapeño was a fun touch. The firecracker shrimp had a nice flavor, although it was slightly overcooked and fell apart easily. It's been a few years since I've been to Mama Bird since moving out of the area and my return visit did not disappoint. Agata was our server and she provided warm hospitality during our visit. We started off with watermelon lemonades and the spicy fried green beans appetizer. The green beans were so tasty and the cool dill ranch paired perfectly with the spicy crunchy texture of the batter. For one of our entrees, we ordered a pitmaster scramble that was loaded with smoked brisket and pork belly. We also ordered chicken strips with their house comeback sauce and their version of buffalo sauce that was sweet and spicy. I prefer dark meat so I went with the breaded chicken thigh plate with the north and south fries which is a mix of crinkle and sweet potato fries. We selected everything biscuits with our entrees but it was a tough choice between that and the jalapeño cornbread. Mama Bird has expanded since the last time I've been in. Happened upon this place while RV shopping since it seemed to have a menu that everyone liked. The restaurant itself is very clean and welcoming. Everyone that works there is awesome and extremely friendly and helpful. The staff bumped them up a star. The food is where we had the issue. Maybe it was an off day because I know they have amazing reviews. I ordered a small shrimp and grits and the first one came out without the shrimp. Very apologetic staff and quickly corrected the issue. The grits were unfortunately pasty (which is why I rarely order them, but this seemed like an authentic Southern kitchen) and the shrimp were itty bitty. Think salad shrimp tiny. Both my husband and father ordered the pulled pork sandwich and said it was okay, but both wished they were warned it was spicy beforehand. She came over and apologized and said we could have a free alcoholic drink but we declined due to a 6 hour drive ahead of us. Thanks to Google restaurants near me search for this find. When we travel, we like to find local favorites and Momma Birds has to be one of them. Everything was fantastic from the greetings to the food. Our waitress Agatha was a delight to speak with and she explained their menu to us and informed us about their in house home made items such as Watermelon ice teas to their slow roasted brisket, to their house fresh made ranch. Agata introduced their bar products to us and shared that they are a Burbon specialty bar and that ties into them being a Sothern kitchen. We went with happy hour food items so that we could eat a little variety of items like the 50-50 fried green beans and pickles, the buffalo tater tots with shredded brisket, and the fried chicken sliders. Their dill homemade ranch was deliciously amazing that I had to spoon it onto my chicken sliders and the Buffalo tots, I was expecting them to be dripping in Buffalo sauce but surprisingly, they weren't and that brisket that topped those bad boys was so tasty. For my drink, I went with a sweet tea that was very tasty it was what real southern sweet tea is all about. Let's get straight to the point. I started off with their ginger beer and it was delicious. Hubby got the watermelon lemonade, it was refreshing and tart. I was indecisive about trying their shrimp and grits or the fried chicken, so I got both. The chicken was good but the bottom of it was very soggy and had a bit of a strong smell. Giving it a 7/10. This was a great dining (brunch) experience that truly exceeded my expectations! It looks unassuming from the exterior given its location within a strip mall. Their menu is extensive! They specialize in bourbon-based beverages if you're feeling boozy. They have so many food options as well including breakfast served until 3:00pm! I tried the cherry mimosa which was exceptional and topped off with a premium Luxardo cherry. The beverage was amazing with predominately orange flavor but with the perfect hint of cherry and plenty of bubbly. I had the chicken and waffles. This features two large boneless chicken breasts plus two eggs any style plus a cornmeal waffle plus a small slice of watermelon. Delicious! The chicken was perfectly fried but in no way greasy or oily. It had a wonderful crunchy and flavorful coating. The two eggs (over hard) were perfectly prepared. The waffle was delicious as well and not overly sweet. The cornmeal base definitely gave it a country feel. The watermelon was wonderful. Flavorful and juicy! Five stars is no easy accomplishment, but Mama Bird earned it! I highly recommend this establishment! Have been to mama bird on multiple occasions - but never for breakfast. So this review is for that. In need of some breakfast while in the Southwest, on consultation with yelp, Mama Bird was way at the top, and loving everything else - why not? Off we drove. My go to in any new location is either corned beef hash, or some type of omelette. In this instance I chose the smoked brisket hash ($19.95), and coffee ($4.50). It did not disappoint. Instead of white potatoes like you normally see, they use sweet potatoes which were a nice touch. I liked the savory/sweet (but they aren't THAT sweet) change. Also included was an everything biscuit (and yes, I would totally order this by itself; light AND fluffy goodness with each bite). The dish also comes with eggs which I got over medium (perfectly cooked), and in this instance a nice slice of watermelon. I really loved the decor, and the big mirrors add a really nice touch to the space. I got the two-piece fried boneless thigh, and my husband ordered the half slab of ribs. For our sides, we had the macaroni and cheese, sweet corn, jalapeño cornbread, and the everything biscuit. Everything was delicious. The fried chicken was crispy and moist, and the ribs were super tender and almost fell off the bone. We were looking for some late breakfast and found this awesome southern style restaurant on Yelp. Really nice decor and interesting layout. Theres also outdoor seating but it was way too hot for us to sit out there. The kitchen cook greeted as soon as we came in, with the country music playing in the background. He was a really nice guy. Our group was too large for the booths so we sat on a side next to the kitchen. It was a little odd mostly because I could feel the heat behind me. But still love the open kitchen/diner style. And they're not quiet either lol. Just makin food and talking like its home. Love that vibe. Found out the person who greeted us was the general manager Pedro. No wonder, the food was so good and the service is awesome. I noticed the unmarked hot sauce bottles as soon as we were seated. Apparently they're inhouse made. A red Louisiana sauce and the other a green jalapeno sauce. Both are awesome. Our server was Isabell and was very friendly. I ordered the Mac n cheese chicken tender waffle sandwhich with north n south fries. Amazing! The chicken is crispy on the outside and tender and juicy inside. Waffle was perfect. Little crisp outside and soft not dry inside. Fries were regular and sweet potato, both worth it. Any of the items go well with the included house sauce. Its so good! First time at Mama Bird and we're so glad we dined in and visited this wonderful eatery. As soon as our party of 8 walked in the staff were so nice and welcoming. Isabell the host and our waitress sat us down and Pedro the manager greeted us from the kitchen. We've never seen a restaurant manager so involved and hands on in the kitchen and their staff. Even though he was busy he was very attentive to all the customers coming in to the restaurant. We even spoke with him about their meals and sauces. Mama Bird is the type of restaurant and eatery that you would want to frequent and support. They provided excellent customer service and delicious food. They are very welcoming to all walks of life and different groups. They cook delicious meals and provide excellent customer service with a sincere heart. When we arrived there were several families already dining in. While we were seated plenty more customers started coming in. Lots of locals and also people visiting from other states like us dining here. We met a couple who are also from CA and frequent LV. We have already told our family and friends from LV and CA to check out Mama Bird for delicious meals. Will be back in a couple of weeks to try other items on their menu and we can't wait. One of the many things that stood out for us about Mama Bird is how considerate and conscious they are about food allergy ingredients. Thank you Isabell and Pedro for accommodating our family members that have peanut and tree nut food allergies. For our party of 8 we ordered Pork Belly and Grits, Chicken Wings, 2 Fried Chicken Sandwiches, Mac n' Cheese Chicken Tender Waffle Sandwich, 3pc Chicken Tender Plate with Coleslaw and Kid's Chicken Finger and Fries. Coleslaw is so good. Their coleslaw comes with diced green apples which adds flavor and their special sauce. The coleslaw is not too sweet either and not saturated which we all enjoyed. The Mac n' Cheese Chicken Tender Waffle Sandwich was humongous. The chicken and waffle was not over cooked. The inside of the chicken was still tender and moist. Pork Belly and Grits is a must try. Food definitely was definitely flavorful and not salty. You can tell Mama Bird takes pride in their meals and service. We've already shared our experience at Mama Bird with all our social circles in both LV and CA. Will be meeting some friends at Mama Bird in a few weeks for brunch and we can't wait to try other items on their menu. read more

This place was packed and people kept coming and coming. It was nice, music in the background, tvs to watch the game...a full bar, I had a killer Bourbon Bloody Mary which has the most perfect and delicious slice of Bacon and a pickled egg. I ordered deviled eggs which were really good but the bacon wasn't the same that was in the drink. I ordered Eggs, watermelon and White cheddar Grits which were phenomenal OMG delicious! My brother got the brisket and pork belly--He liked the brisket but said the Pork was dry--hard to swallow dry... All in all, we both agreed we would go back IF The die chooses it again (This was all the die this time as well) and probably just for breakfast but they serve dinner all day so you can go order whatever you like, whenever... Our waiter was very attentive. Brother told me today that the portion size for the price was shockingly small, he always has leftovers and didn't here plus while we didn't want dessert, they never asked if we did.... I am from out of town and was spending time at my friend's pool. I grabbed a meal to go. I got the three chicken tenders. They were the largest I've ever had! Very crispy and crunchy. I don't like spicy things so I got the two sauces that don't have any spice and they were great which were their original and dill ranch. Also, my meal came with a side and they recommended the mac & cheese, which was unique with the saltine cracker crumble on top. Gave it a little crunch and salty twist. I also loved the melt in your mouth cornbread. I was able to pick off the jalapeños and enjoy it just like they said. For dessert I got one of their hummingbird cakes in a jar. I liked the idea of the cute jars, but really not needed and the desserts were just all right. read more

Found mama bird's on Yelp and decided to try it out on our way home from Vegas. I'm glad we did!
