Great service. My bike was fixed in a timely and expertly manor. Would take all my bikes should they need to be taken care of.

I went into the shop after a reality check type ride. It was simple enough, a flat rear tire after riding over a rough patch of road. I got off the bike and got my stuff together...spare tube, tire irons, CO2 canister and adapter. Got the tube out and a new one in. Got the adapter and the canister...threaded adapter and threadless canister. Now, the 7 miles or so that I have yet to go, in cycling cleats, comes into painfully clear focus. I make a hike, get saved by a fellow cyclist who does have a portable bike pump and limp the last two miles back over the hill to the car. Short story about a long day. I was in Yokuhl Valley. Thankfully, it was only about the mid 80's. I went to trusty Visalia cyclery and asked the guy working there (I apologize for not getting his name) to take a look at the back wheel because I thought it was out of true. He said it was just the tire and put some better pressure in it and he was right. I ended up getting a new bike pump (small but listed as going to 120psi), some tubes and threaded CO2 canisters. The guys was patient and helpful with my inquiries. I would've bought some new shoes (5 miles on cycling cleats will not only blister your arches but also destroy the shoes) but they didn't have my size in stock. I brought in a very rusty (from years of coastal air) salvageable bike and they took me right in despite not having an appointment. I'm so upset... I bought a brand new bike for my mom for Christmas which I specifically told the staff at Visalia Cyclery when I dropped it off- that it was a surprise for her and obviously BRAND NEW Public Bike. I needed the brakes to be attached and we went with a tune up for $80 bucks. I left the plastic on the wheels because like I said it was brand new and a surprise. I just picked it up and the wheels are FILTHY BLACK. The tubing on the wheels even have dirty finger prints on them. I understand you need to make sure the brakes work, but this is a CHILDS size bike and it looks like it was ridden outside SO HARD. No plastic on the wheels, finger prints everywhere and black wheels. I definitely can't return it now if it doesn't fit her and I'm spending the whole afternoon trying to clean the wheels so that her present doesn't look USED. The older man that helped me was so nice, but when I picked up the younger guys didn't even offer to help me out it in my car- I'm petite and I was struggling to lift it. Overall so unhappy with my experience here.. I didn't mention anything when I picked up the bike because I was so shocked and at this point what could be done. read more

BIT OF A RANT HERE BUT CUSTOMER YELP REVIEW HERE FOR FREE IF INTERESTED. I don't do this so you know this is an important fyi: SCR*W VISALIA CYCLERY So anyone that knows me knows that my beach cruiser is my baby! They also know I'm an avid rider. It's my release and I ride 50+miles a week through this lovely city of Visalia. Anyone who knows me also knows that I have praised and highly recommend Visalia Cyclery Bicycle Shop to anyone and everyone I know. I get asked a lot about my bike(I know she's pretty..thanks) and I always without hesitation point to the Visalia Cyclery sticker on my bike and tell curious folks about them. I have purchased all my beach cruisers from them. 4 over the last 8yrs or so. They have all progressively gotten more expensive as I have learned what I want and require in a bike for myself. This root beer beauty pulictured above after upgrading the seat was $500+!! But sooo worth it! I always wanted to support local businesses and have had nothing but good experiences here over the years. One of the cool things about them was they offer free lifetime maintenance of the bike after you purshcase(gears, spokes, chain, etc from what I was told) Well today after a couple of years of riding and thousands literally thousands of miles my handlebars came loose. The screw was stripped(they put the bike together..important for later) Luckily I was close to Visalia Cyclery and it was opening time. Figured I'd take advantage of that maintenance for once and see if they could remove the screw for me real quick. Sweet right!? Not anything crazy to expect right!? WRONG!!! Walked in and after the initial pleasantries, I explained that I was several miles from home and on a ride and my bars came loose. Guys looked at it told me I would need new handle bars and would be $50+ and he'd have to order. Ok good to know but not in the budget for one, and two doesn't help me out now. So asked if he could pull the screw out for me real quick. That's when he noticed the screw was stripped and very accusatory said, "Well the wrong tool was used on this" very matter of factly. When I pointed out that they put it together...crickets. Then proceeded talked smack about the bike they sold me and said that "this isn't meant to ride so much and the bars will come loose like that." Excuse me!? For $500 this wasn't a piece of junk they sold me. It's actually a good investment and yes over time the bars will loosen like mine did. I get that. But to have the tone that it's a brown turd cause it's not a $5000 road bike was a really offensive statement to say the least. Explained to him I just needed the screw pulled out real quick so I could put the piece of rubber sleeve I scavenged from my bar mounted phone holder in between the bar and retighten. Not a permanent fix by all means and I know I need new bars but I've done it before(like I said ridden many bikes many many many miles) and it would've gotten me home in this particular jam. Instead I was met with skepticism and condescension telling me that " It won't work and will make it worse etc etc." So asked if he couldn't take the screw out for me and he said I'd have to leave it and he'd give me and estimate!?? WTF!?There was no one in there, had been open for maybe 15mins at the time. I said no thank you I'll find someone to drill and tap the screw for me and remove it. I was polite and kind the whole time. Learned you attract bees with sugar not salt. Still being polite, and completely understanding to what he was explaining wasn't enough for them to take a couple minutes to pull out a screw for me so I could get home. A $500+ bike un rideable due to a ¢2 screw smh!‍ I have gladly left that Visalia Cyclery sticker on my bike for the couple of years I owned it for free advertisement. They were good people. Well it's coming off and shame on your customer service. Don't worry guys walked my bike home safely no thanks to them. So now instead of praising and recommending you to everyone under the sun I know and who asks, I will relentlessly and continuously tell every man, woman, and child to avoid you and your horendous customer service like the plague. I may not be a customer that goes in and spends thousands on road bikes etc. But I was an avid and loyal customer nonetheless. I have purchased two bicycles here, and come in regularly for service & questions. I live out of town, and there is no bike shop in my town anymore, but even if there were I'm not sure I would not still come here. The staff are all super knowledgeable, which helps you buy with confidence. Their selection of bikes is not huge, but what they sell they know, and they only really sell quality. Their prices are fair, and the lifetime tune up deal on bikes purchased in the store is definitely worth it, especially if you're not a mechanical guy/gal. read more

They lied to my mom. She called and asked if they had her bike tire size in stock and if they could change it for her. They answered yes and said come on down, we can change it today. My mom lives an hour away in the Sequoia National Park by the way. She brought her bike, took her an hour to get there, and they said they did not have it in stock, and could not work on her electric bike. The worst part is they acted like nobody told her it was in stock. They were very rude to her. And by the way..what kind of bike shop can't change a tire on a..bike?? Electric or not, that doesn't matter when it comes to changing her tire. Also they sell electric bikes there, so they should harbor the capacity to work on them. So within the last month or less me and my husband have went into this store maybe 4-5 times. We bought two bikes, over $1,000 spent for both... it has been busy almost every time we go in which is totally understandable considering the high demand of bikes during these times. I've also been in there when it's not so busy, each time me and my husband have been in, it takes 15+ minutes to ask if we need help. Second, I've had conversations with two different guys that work there, both extremely rude. I purchased my bike today 6/16/20 and it was in a box so the guy who helped me advised me to call around 3/4pm to ask the progress of my bike.... mind you, I live 1 hour away and I just want a time frame so I can plan accordingly. So I just got off the phone with whoever answered and I asked if I could please get an update just so I could plan to borrow a truck to pick the bike up. I couldn't remember the exact name of the bike and I told the guy I couldn't remember and he responded with "do you not have the receipt ?" So then I told him I'd look for it... took me a few minutes but I found it and gave him the name. He then told me, "No it's not ready, we are extremely busy". I said "okay that's fine, do you know more or less when it would be ready just so I can plan accordingly" and he responded with, "no I don't. We don't just have time to build your bike" Are you F***ING Kidding me!? How rude was that. As mad as that made me, I stayed professional (as they should) and just said "well of course not, I'm not saying you do". At this point, this guy already knew he messed up because he said "oh I don't mean it in a rude way" Yea dude, because it was totally meant in a non-rude way. Anyways, I really don't appreciate spending hard earned money at a place that lacks good customer service. Don't get me wrong, I love the bikes and quality but rude employees like that will get them to lose customers very quickly. I have worked in customer service when I was in high school, even then I maintained my professionalism. Did I keep the bikes? Yes.... but ask me if I'll buy anymore from them? Nope. I have my receipts and I'll just have my husband go in to take them to get serviced when need be. In a place that sells bikes for high prices and has people like me willing to buy them, they should be at least treating their new out of town customers with some level of respect and courtesy. I went to Visalia Cyclery to purchase a bike for my 7 yo birthday. I talked to Byron who seemed helpful at first, but I was very much mislead. When going through the different Bikes I settled on a base model Shredder. Byron told me the bike would be about $210 - $220, plus a helmet, which would total to about $260. He asked if I wanted the helmet now or later. I was expecting to have the bike ready to go and pick up the helmet as well, but it turns out they still had the bike in a box and had to put it together. Byron said they were busy that day and they would call me when the bike is ready. At that point I told him I would pick up the helmet when I pick up the bike. Remember, this is a Birthday gift so I wanted to get everything at the same time. When I went to pay for the bike, the cost came out to about $260 all in. Byron rung up the register at $520. I told him about the mistake and he fixed it to show the agreed upon price of $260. A full day went by with no call. The next day, the day of the Birthday, I called the shop to see if the bike was finished and it was. I also asked if the helmet he had put aside for me was there and the person on the phone said he didn't see one, but maybe there is a helmet somewhere. I show up to the shop and the bike looked perfect. When I asked about the helmet, another employee that was helping me asked about what size I was looking for. I told him I need a child size helmet for a 7 yo. He then said, "we kinda need a head here to fit a helmet." Normally, I would agree, but in this instance, it is a gift so no, there will be no head here to fit the helmet on. So after I decide on a helmet, using my brain and best estimate, I asked if it was okay to swap out the helmet if it didn't fit and the employee said it was okay as long as it didn't looked used. Then he proceeded to charge me $42 for the helmet. I told him that I paid for the helmet already and that Byron was supposed to hold one for me. At this point I was already annoyed because, 1) I had to call them as it was apparent they weren't going to call me, 2) there was no helmet as promised, 3) the sales person helping me when I picked up the bike was being very condescending to me, and 4) I paid for a helmet, but wasn't going to get one. When I asked about what the bike was $260 the employee stated that the bike is $230 plus tax would be $260 so there's no helmet. I was incredibly pissed off at this point and got my sons bike and loaded it in the trunk, but I couldn't let the fact that I was promised a price and didnt receive what I expected. I looked up the price of the bike in Visalia Cyclery's website and the exact bike is listed as $199 on their website. So I went in and asked about the price and a different sales person told me that it is in fact a $235 bike. My experience with Visalia Cyclery would have been a good one except that I was mislead by Byron throughout the process. Every aspect of our conversation was misleading. I wasn't called when the bike was complete, I wasn't given what was agreed upon, there was a price discrepancy with the product I purchased, and when I went into the store to inquire about my situation I was treated like I was the idiot who made the mistake, when in reality it's in them. I have to reiterate, the bike was perfect; the service was ass. read more

Last July 2020 I bought two brand new tires and two brand new tubes for my bicycle. Within two months 1 tube went bad and the shop replaced at no charge. Within 10 months another tube went bad the bike shop admitted to was a defective tube but didn't know what was wrong with it and refused to guarantee it or replace it. The tube had a pinched mark on it from the last guy who installed it. So i paid another 50 dollars because they pinched the tube last time. I remember years ago the bike shop Visalia Cyclery would guarantee their tubes against punchers and defects. Now Visalia Cyclery buys cheap Chinese tubes and will not guarantee them. I bought this bike there, i will be buying my next bike elsewhere. read more
