Jesus is the man I see for my haircuts. I went in a few years ago hoping to get an appointment with another stylist that a friend uses, but he was booked so I went ahead and saw Jesus. I'm glad I did! He has cut my hair exactly the way I have asked each and every time I've been. I cheated on him once and went to Ceron in Uptown Park and it took nearly 1 1/2 years to grow out the mess I was left with. I immediately went back to Jesus and even told him about my mistake. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE!!! I didn't even get a chance to sit down! I had called earlier in the day to ask about their rates well they gave me the run-around how they cannot do that because they need to see my hair, any other place has been able to give me at least a sliding estimate but these people were not very interested in answering my questions. So I just went in to see the prices. I get there and its a HUGE salon and a lot nicer than what I expected since it was in the mall. I asked the receptionist can someone see me and what would the price be for my roots, she said someone can see me but gave me the run-around about the rates. I said I came in because you said you need to see my hair to quote a price and now I can't get a price? So she rudely turns around and calls a stylist to the front. She was nice but gave me a rate that still wasn;t specific but I figured it would be close to the price so whatever I'll do it. Then I asked about a blow dry - they charge extra for that too! I asked how much that was, the stylist said she doesn't do blow dry so she doesn't know. I asked can I speak to the person who does do blow dry and she went to the so-called manager and asked him. He was SOOOO rude and said no no we cannot tell them how much it costs !!???????? I said I need to know before I sit down because if not you can charge 250$ for a blow-dry and there will be nothing I can do about that, you need to be upfront with your services and prices or I cannot do it, who gets something done when the 'manager' can't even tell you how much or close to how much it will cost? He said sooooo rudely okay buh-bye and turned away!!!! I asked for corporate's contact information and the names of the receptionist and this so-called manager but they didn't even respond to me! Just kept doing what they were doing and didn't even acknowledge me!!! It's time to get into the current century! I have been a client for over 25 years. I have seen the salon grow from a hole in the wall with posters on the ceiling at the wash basins to a gleaming modern furnished store. However, to fit in this current world, they need to get their online appointment app to work! It's the worst. Was in Houston on vacation and needed my roots touched up (bleached). My hair is relatively damaged but I just wanted a quick touch-up so my roots weren't so dark. They quoted me $60-$80 on the phone after I fully explained my hair situation and what I wanted. Once I got there, they told me they would have to do 'corrective color' and also I would HAVE TO get a restorative treatment as well. I told them to just bleach my roots- that is legit ALL I wanted but they insisted on trying to make me pay $150 for services I DID NOT WANT. I promptly left, and was stuck with dark roots for the remainder of my vaca. Wouldn't recommend this salon to anyone- I'm sure there are better places elsewhere. read more

I have been to a couple Visible Changes locations and they are always a good experience. Gretchen did an amazing job with my color and Angie is a great stylist. My only issue with Visible Changes is that it seems to be common practice to Up Charge you for things that you didn't ask for... to perform services that you didn't ask for and then charge you for them... Like, putting a keratin treatment in but only telling me once it's already in.. $30.. and then I even told her I didn't want her to style it so she ran a flat iron through it a couple times.. and they charged me the extra fee for styling.. $10-15. I am always happy with my results when I leave VC, so I would recommend it.. just be prepared for upcharges.. read more

I haven't loved my hair in a very long time and I still don't. My hairstylist, a male whose name I never even got, was mediocre at best. First, he had no clue what a long bob is. He told me that I would not look good with a bob and that I would have to "walk around with a flat iron in my hand". He practically refused to give me a long bob so when I asked what he recommended, he again had no clue. He just continued to tell me that a bob was not the right cut. So I told him to just cut off some of the damaged hair that had grown out. He didn't cut any layers and when I asked him to add some, he practically threw a fit. Then to make matters worse, he didn't even dry my hair completely before he started using the flat iron. I could smell the stench of burning hair and then embarrassingly realized it was me. Worst haircut and worst experience of my life. Definitely not worth the $70. read more

This was my first time visiting Visible Changes and for being the first time it was a great experience! I was coming in to color my hair a specific red shade. My colorist was named Marcus and he was very nice and gave me exactly what I wanted. When going in for anything I would say to have a picture to show them, it helps. He made me feel comfortable and is very knowledgeable when it comes to coloring and especially maintaining it. I will definitely be going back to him when I need a retouch. The color was almost a red velvet, think Ariana Grande type red and it came out perfect and everyone at work and home loved it! After reading reviews for a colorist, I made an appointment with Marcus. He listened to what I wanted, matched perfectly and was efficient. Very nice and personable, too. Will be going back to him again. Suggestion for store and for clients - call ahead to make sure your stylist is on time. I waited over 20 minutes with no update by the store, then walked to the receptionist to inquire the timing. Took 5 minutes to get an update, then another 5-10 minutes before I was called back. I had made this appointment on my lunch break. Had to head back to work with wet hair. Sure would have been nice to know I would be over 30 minutes late going back to work. I know now to call ahead and verify the timing of my stylist before I go to the store. read more

I have been coming here for years and always just went to whatever stylist was available at the time, until 5 years ago when Janet cut my hair from long and layerd to a short angled bob. I haven't gone to another stylist since!! She is amazing. Always cuts my hair like I ask for and will not let me leave looking bad. You can tell that she is very knowledgeable about hair and knows what works and what doesn't. I had to move to Dallas recently and I have not found anyone else that can cut my hair like Janet does. Forgive me for not spending another red cent with your company thanks to Stacy, Elle and Jamie at the Galleria Location. The Houston Weather was used as an excuse for why my hair style didn't last more than a day when I would think that is something the "professional" stylist should consider while doing the hair. That's a cop out. I've lived in this city for years and never had the xperience of my chemically treated roots waving up within a day. All I wanted was them flattened out. If I could give this salon 0 stars I would. I walked into the salon with hair about 3-4 inches past shoulder length. I had been wearing BLONDE all-over highlights on my naturally very dark hair for 13 months (applied by a different hair stylist at a different salon) at the time of entering the salon. PRIOR to scheduling my appointment I even went into the salon for a consultation to make sure that I would be able to obtain the certain blonde hair color that I wanted. They referred me to Lauren (master colorist) for the color (who told me during mid-highlight that she was quitting because there was too much drama at the salon) and then referred me to Allison for a cut (only has been cutting have for about 3 years... after I specifically asked for a higher level person)! Well, Lauren started to foil my hair and towards the end of it, she literally took all of the hair that was not in a foil, used her hand to apply bleach and then wrapped a single piece of foil around it. She went to rise my out and I kid you not CLUMPS of my hair began to fall out. Of course I started to panic and Lauren says "oh girl, that's just breakage. It happens all the time. This is nothing". So I run my fingers through my hair and I literally was shedding worse than a golden retriever after giving birth in the Atlanta summer heat. Mind you that prior to even allowing Lauren to put foils on my hair I asked 3 basic questions: 1) Is my hair going to break off? 2) Am I going to have to cut my hair because I do not want to cut it? 3) Would you allow someone to bleach their hair if you thought it was a bad idea? She said that everything would be fine and she uses bleach all of the time and just to sit back, relax, and have no worries. Well, after watching about 3 inches of my hair fall off the bottom it was time to sit in Allison's chair for a cut. She grabbed the ends of my hair with her two fingers and said "we need to cut 4 inches off". I PANICKED. I said "no I can't, it is so short, why is it falling out, what is going on?!" And while I'm speaking she cut off all of my hair. Now my hair is FRIED and I'm trying to rock the WORLDS WORST HAIR CUT because the sides don't reach my chin, the back is uneven and sits right on my shoulders so it flips out like the Lizzie McGuire cartoon and I am rocking 13 year old girl bangs (at age 24). My hair was soooooooooooo blonde (mind you I'm naturally very tan and have deep olive undertones) I couldn't even take a picture without looking like someone spilled mustard all over my hair and rubbed it in. The next day I came back in tears to get a toner over the blonde and the manager told me "I'm not even going to start with you". He was SO RUDE and unprofessional. So I threw a FIT. After every female hairstylist in the front of the salon came up to me, rubbed my head, and then told me how sorry they are for me, the manager Jamie finally offered to help "condition" my hair back to health. I went there for 4 weeks getting complimentary blow dry and conditioning treatments but it was actually PROTEIN treatments which make your hair extremely coarse and my hair fell out even more!!! It was so dry and the protein just dried it out even more. So after 4 weeks of being humiliated by my peers for this awful new hair cut and color I went back in the salon and paid Carly to touch up my color. And all I can say is THANK GOD FOR HER. She was the ONLY honest person about my hair. She told me how it looks (awful) rather than trying to convince me it looked great and really took the time to try and get the color to a normal, human color. Its been 2 weeks since I've seen Carly and I just took the liberty to do my home at-home conditioning treatments everyday, I trimmed my own hair, and dyed it to a normal lightest brown-blonde color using Garnier Olia (which is amazing) and I can tell you now that after self treating my hair, I have seen more improvement then they could ever provide me. Now my hair is a normal color but I'm still rocking the world's worst cut. All in all, DO NOT PAY VISIBLE CHANGES ANYTHING AND DO NOT GO THERE! They think their opinion is better than yours and at the end of the day YOU KNOW YOUR HAIR AND YOU KNOW WHATS BEST FOR YOUR HAIR!!!! Lastly, I spent over $400.00 on their services. Might as well have just thrown it down the toilet. read more

Mitchell Morris is the reason I'm rating this hair salon 5 stars. First, I book online which is convenient and provides a discount each time I pay. Mitchell is punctual and washes my hair himself. I've been going to him for about two years now and don't have to say what I want, he knows. He does a fantastic job with the men's cut and fades the sides really well. To top it off he cleans up my beard at the end. During the whole experience, we trade stories and have ourselves a good laugh. He just got promoted again and unfortunately is a few bucks more expensive now, but he's worth it. :) Highly recommend Mitchell. read more

I am pretty critical of businesses these days but I have had nothing but great experiences so far. My last one in particular stood out to me. I had an appointment that I arrived too early for. My appointment time passed and my stylist was not ready as he was with another client but they kept me apprised the whole time of what was going on and what the timeline looked like, which I really appreciated. They also apologized as there had been a scheduling error on their end and what was really cool was it was a sincere thing, which is really rare these days. Long story short they got me in pretty late but kept me really informed, made real apologies, and didn't try and blame someone else. They also gave me a haircut on the house to make up for it. Mistakes are going to happen, that's part of any business with volume customers, but what really stood out to me was how well they treated me and clearly cared and valued my time. Super commendable. I'm not going to get angry or bitter over honest mistakes made by earnest people when the mistake is properly remedied. To give a different example, I stayed at an upscale hotel later that evening and they did not have rooms available at check-in. We had to wait for nearly 2 hours in the lobby with a mob of guests. The folks working at the hotel were rude, did not apologize, tried to shift blame, and provided no apology incentive. I will not be returning to the hotel. As a customer you can deal with an error, no big deal, but the difference is how the company treats you after the error. I thought visible changes did an awesome job and definitely won my loyalty. read more

Years ago I stopped into this Visible Changes for a cut. I previously spent my entire life straightening my curly hair (a process that would take 2 hours every day, with lackluster results). When I sat in Clay's (I think that was his name) chair with my short, wet curly hair, he said, to my surprise "We are not going to cut your hair, you need to let it grow to one long length and wear it curly.
