I have been coming to visible changes for around 10 years or so. I have had various stylists cut my hair until I found Nary, who I have now been going to for atleast 8 years! I have very long hair and have been to several people for countless shampoos and blowouts such as Allison, Angel and Meta (all of which I highly recommend). For color I have gone to a few people to switch it up. I had previously gone to Kathy for great highlights for several years. I know go to Andrea, who is a rockstar when it comes to balayage, and babylights and all things super blended. She really understands what I want. A big fan of visible changes. The shampoo is a part of the hair cut process that I tend to favor, but not this time. My stylist was way too rough on the shampooing. She wasn't friendly at all and was rubbing and shaking my scalp so hard that I felt very uncomfortable. That wasn't the worst part, however. I couldn't handle it once she started viciously scratching the back of my head with her long, fake, pointed nails. I told her that it hurt me, to which she replied that I was washing my hair wrong and that I need to scrub hard to get my scalp clean. I've had my hair cut thousands of times, and never did I feel like my stylist was trying to rip my scalp off. The rest of the hair cut went ok. After getting past some misunderstandings on what I wanted, she turned out to be a pleasant person to talk to and actually did a very good job on my hair cut. But will I be coming back to this location? Not likely. read more

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR DONE HERE. Literally just go anywhere else and they'll treat you better. I have been going to visible changes since 2017 but unfortunately the chemical specialist who always did my hair does not work for them anymore, BIANCA WAS THE BEST!!! I mean good for her! I scheduled an appointment for May 17th with BECKY. I was a bit skeptical but was told that she was on the same level as my previous specialist so I just told myself it would be fine. I showed her a picture of the hair color I wanted, it was a dark red/burgundy. She bleached my hair and applied the color. After washing it off, it looked way too bright and nothing like the color I had asked for so she added some purple to make it darker. I asked her how long the color would last and she TOLD ME IT WOULD START TO FADE AFTER SIX WEEKS JUST LIKE ANY OTHER FANTASY COLOR WOULD. "START TO." I even told her the products I was using just to make sure I'm doing the right thing and she said it was completely fine. It has been only two weeks and my hair looks like crap. The color is almost completely GONE in TWO WEEKS. I paid nearly $280 FOR THIS? So obviously I decided to call them up. I talked to someone who was a mediator between me and BECKY because she was busy... she told me I would have to pay AGAIN for the toner?? I just paid damn near $300 dollars and you want me to pay more after 14 DAYS??? When YOU couldn't even get the color right the first time? Absolutely ridiculous. read more

First and foremost, he is always on time for the appointment that is set, even on Saturdays , when business is at its highest demand. He is professional, sincere and takes pride in his work. Okay, I have a confession to make. I have been cheating on my hairdresser of 19 years for almost a year now. I met her at Visible Changes in Almeda Mall in the third grade for my first perm. My mom and her became really good friends and they still are. Through the years she has done my mom's, my daughter's, and my hair. We followed her to every salon she worked for and now she has owned hers for about 13 years in Clear Lake. I have always kept my naturally curly hair long and full of chemicals because I always get bored with my color. I dreaded, if not more than my friends, fixing my hair. I always hated my curly hair and of course would straighten it everyday. One day, the love of my life named "The Chi" iron was invented. With my new found love in my life it would still take me 2 hours to fix my hair. I was past fashionably late to every outing. Last year, (September of 2007) a co-worker of mine told me about a Japanese chemical straightener that I could go to a salon and get done. It was a couple hundred dollars to get done, but it would save me so much time. She had her hair straightened and it looked great. She said she just comes to work without having to blow dry. I was so excited and could not wait to make an appointment. The guy that did it went all around the world and was supposedly the best in town to get it done. As soon as I told my friends and boyfriend at the time they were just as excited as me. They were all so tired of me being late to everything that everyone chipped in to pay for my Japanese straightener. So, I go to my appointment/consultation and whew hoo..... my hair is strong enough to get the straightener...YEAYAH. It took 7 hours and 2 guys to straighten my hair. At the end the hairdresser tells me that he has to cut my hair because it did not do too well through the process. So, he cuts my hair about 2 inches past my shoulders. In December (2007) the ends of my hair just started breaking off. I was getting scared. So, I went to Visible Changes in the Galleria and had one of their top chemical specialist look at my hair. Her news to me was devastating, but she gave me hope. Since December (2007) I have alternated between 2 wonderful chemical specialist, Heather and Melissa. They have been working on getting my hair back to health and I get to still have my hair colored. I can tell a big difference and my hair is no longer falling out or breaking off in globs. I only let one person cut my hair and that is why I have to alternate between Heather and Melissa. Trang Nguyen is the best stylist that I have ever had. She never leaves me with a boring hair cut. She is fast and I feel so beautiful after seeing her. Trang has won countless awards and brings in well deserved revenue for Visible Changes. She is number 2 in the Galleria and number 10 in the nation for Visible Changes. Every 6 weeks I get a highlight/lifting toner for natural hair color and cut. All three woman have taken care of me and my hair is getting better. The customer service is great and I would set an appointment as early as possible to see any of them. You will not have much luck by just walking in. I do spend between $150 to $200 every 6 weeks, but it is money well worth spent. They are very professional and they really do care about your hair. They do not just try to sell you products like other sharks I have encountered. I have followed their advice in regards to products and they really have helped. Parking can be crazy, but I will give you my best parking advice (I hope I will have a parking spot after spilling the beans on this one). I always park in the Dillards parking lot and walk across to Neimen Marcus. Go straight through NM to the escalators going down and Visible Changes will be on your left. Btw....I haven't gone back to my old hairdresser because she is in Clear Lake and I am more closer to the Galleria area. With gas being so high and my hair bill that is the rational thing for me to do. read more

To start, the only reason I'm giving visible Changes at the Galleria a VERY generous two stars is because of my amazing hair stylist Nary. She's wonderful, bubbly, artistic, social,an experienced hairstylist, and it shines! She is the only reason I stay with VC. Now, on to why I would give Visible Changes 0 stars if I could-- their customer service. I understand that they can be busy and that being put on hold is essentially a guarantee, especially on weekends. But I'm never entertained when I call in and before getting a word out a very stern woman answers with "Visible changes, hold" before I can even say "okay." After what seems like 10 minutes they return to my call and are very very rude! The receptionist(s) act as if they hate their jobs and the tone in their voice when I book an appointment is anything but polite. I'm a frequent there and they give me the same attitude and rude service every time by making me wait and taking other customers in front of me when I was there first. Secondly, the price. I understand being an upscale salon they will charge a lot more than average. But to have the ends of my hair simply dry trimmed (no style, shampoo, blowfly, straightening, or product of any kind) SHOULD NOT cost upwards of $45. I don't know if the front desk themselves are trying to rip me off but I refuse to pay any more than $20 for a low level to dry trim my split ends. I've dealt with their bad attitudes for almost 6 years now and I'm willing to sacrifice my beloved hairstylist to look for another salon. Visible Changes @ the Galleria will run their business to the ground if they keep this up. read more

Out of all the Visible Changes in Houston I think the hairdressers here are the most talented (and the most expensive). Parking can be a bitch though sometimes during the holiday season or on the weekends. I used to only go to the cheap Asian places that charged $15 a cut and I decided to give Visible Changes a shot one day and the difference was night and day. This place is very unorganized. I checked in at 5pm for my appointment and didn't get taken back until 5:40pm. And when the lady took me back, she's like oh... I didn't know you were here. Uhm... My appointment is at 5pm. Why wouldn't I be here at 5????! On to my haircut. I wanted a blended long later look with side bangs. Showed pictures and everything. What did I get ? Choppy straight barely any layers and last minute cut straight side bangs. Uhm... Apparently I was not clear with my words and picture... I usually walk out satisfied, not blown away. They are quick and do a great job. I only use a style director or a master stylist, but they seem to be very reasonable for what they offer. No complaints here. For me, there are a few better than others (some are very talented), but for the most part, you get a nice look regardless of who does it. I am only commenting on the hair cuts and styles. I've had a bad experience with a color here, but they did fix it for free. Plus, you get discounts for students and on b-days. I only went here because Toni and Guy didn't have anything available, and I was in need of a trim. I got a cut with a lady on the master level. I don't remember what her name was, but I think she was from Europe. I told her to layer my long hair. It looked fine afer she finished. But I guess I couldn't tell because I didn't get it blow dried. It cost an extra $20 for long hair. Kind of odd. I thought it was a waste to get it blow dried since I would style it again later that night. I went home, styled my hair and saw that the layers did not blend in together. The layers were choppy and seemed to be in three levels of layers where it was all straight. It was a horrible experience. I will never go back here again for my long hair. I do know that Daniel cuts real well. I would have gone with him, but he was all booked up. read more

My stylist, Gabriel, gets 5 STARS! But i'd give the rest of a 3, so average that and you get 4 stars. So let's talk about Gabriel -- I've been going to him for about 2 years and he's the best stylist i've had! He has curly hair like me and has been so helpful in giving me styling and maintenance skills because he actually understands curly crazy hair! His product recommendations have been spot on! I not trust him completely! He's also totally friendly and actually listens to what you are saying. I would definitely recommend him to everyone! But especially if you have curly hair!! He is a higher level stylist so his hair cuts are a little more expensive. But you won't be disappointed! Now on to the rest of the place -- front desk isn't that friendly. When I was checking out, the girl didn't acknowledge me, ask me how everything was, nothing. Then I asked her a question about prices and she didn't even break a smile. She didn't say thank you or have a nice day. Also, it is quite annoying that they charge for conditioner, for regular daily conditioner (I don't remember them charging for that before). One time I "fell" for their trick. After shampooing, the girl asked me "want conditioner?" and of course i did because they usually do it anyway but then I was charged extra for it - kinda crazy if you ask me. But I really only go there for Gabriel - I try not to interact much with front desk and I don't bother getting conditioner. read more

Another bad haircut from another Visible Changes. The only person who treated me like I wasn't another cow to heard from zone to zone was the girl who washed my hair. The management were the worst offenders. They treated me like a idiot when I complained and told me that I got exactly the cut I wanted, which is ridiculously untrue. The list of unfortunate experiences with this chain keeps growing (unfortunately my hair doesn't grow nearly as fast). If you're going to go to any Houston area VC I'd recommend Willowbrook . The mall may not be nearly as nice but the stylists are much better and the management doesn't treat you like crap. read more

Marcus is the best person to go to if you plan on doing ombré or balyage!! He gives you what you ask for and is totally honest with you on what will look best. He makes you feel really comfortable while your there. Not only does he take his time to do everything correctly but he also loves what he does. Meta was just as excited as I was to do it! Meta did exactly what I had hoped and better. Her suggestions were on point and I left feeling fabulous! After trying out several other botique salons & well-known chains in Houston, I was finally referred to Letti at Visible Changes in the Galleria. She has been with VC for 15+ years and is the best stylist I've ever been to. The is one of the Top stylists so she's a little more expensive, but she cuts my hair so well that I only have to see her once every 8 or 10 weeks. She always listens to my feedback and gives me styles that work perfectly with my lifestyle and schedule. I have now been a loyal customer for 3 years and strongly recommend her! Be sure to call a few days in advance to book an appointment, though... she fills up pretty quickly. read more

Came here for a trim and a style but wasn't blown away by it. Of course the style makes it look nicer at the end but was very disappointed that it came out to be $41 dollar. Pretty pricey for a trim. Guess my search for a hair salon is still on. Only good thing about this place was they got me in and out pretty quickly. Other than that I wouldn't recommend it. It's been over a year since I got a proper haircut. Moving from San Antonio to Chicago to Houston has been pretty awful for the locks on my head. I had been going to random places for haircuts. I went and got my haircut at a Great Clips 2 weeks ago. I cut off 4-5 inches. I just needed it off since it was so hot. I thought I would be satisfied but I wasn't. I needed some style and shape. I had been researching places but I finally just broke down and thought I would try out Visible Changes. I've always heard of them, had friends that had gone to them and seen them in the malls. I figured they had to be legit because they are in malls everywhere in Texas. I did some research and saw that they all have to go through some extensive training. I also did some snooping on Yelp and found this mall hair place was better than another mall hair place that will remain name less. I always found Visible Changes to be so trendy and high fashion so I was a little hesitate to go. Everyone looks so fabulous though so why not give it a shot. I called this morning to schedule an appointment. The lady was abrupt and I felt a little rude so I was a littler nervous about going in. I blew it off and thought I need to keep an open mind because I really need to find a place and someone that can cut my hair. I got to there a few minutes before my appointment to check in. She got me checked in and told me to have a seat on the couches. Shortly after I sat down barely 5 minutes my name was being called and a lady said she was going to be washing my hair for Kristina. She was nice and pleasant. She asked if I wanted any conditioner, deep conditioner, moisturizing etc. I politely declined. Then she said they have complimentary condition and I said yes to that. I remember reading reviews this morning about someone saying yes to conditioner and then getting charged extra for it. It was a nice relaxing hair wash. Once she was finished she asked me to sit on the couch directly across from the hair washing stations. A few short minutes Kristina is standing in front of me introducing herself to me and we walk to her station. I told her my hair drama and said that I needed something different with more shape and some volume I guess. I told her I was looking at pictures and was debating between a bob, angled bob or long pixie. We were discussing my options and she said we could go with a bob. Kristina said if I wanted to go shorter or I didn't like my bob we could go shorter with the long pixie. She really listened to what I had to say and she also took her time cutting and styling my hair. We finished and she walked me to the counter to pay. That's when I realized that Kristina was just a Hair Stylist which is the rookie level. She was awesome and I plan to go to her again. They have different level stylists and the prices vary upon experience. I asked the lady at the counter about online booking and she got me all set up with that. Despite my first impression when I made the phone call for the appointment overall the experience was pretty awesome. Visible Changes and Kristina are life savers. I now have a place I can rely on for a haircut. If I ever move to another Texas city I won't be afraid to go to Visible Changes in that city. read more

Loved my stylist for color. Unfortunately the colorist won't do other services. I ended up with an inexperienced and overly confident stylist and my long hair that took 4 more years to grow ended up in a mullet. Go elsewhere! They are priced ok but by the time you tip 3 people and buy the overpriced products that they are so coached to sell, you will be sorry you didn't take my advice. read more

I've been wanting to do Ombré for about a year now. I decided to go to Visible Changes over the weekend and I had my appointment with N____. A week before my appointment, I called and asked if I could have a consultation because I wanted advice of the type of Ombré color I should get. The person who set up the appointment said that I would have the consultation during my appointment. So I agreed to go ahead and schedule. Once I got there, I was taken to N____. She started asking what did I want to do with my hair and I showed her a picture. She said it was to light and she wouldn't be able to give me the result that I wanted. I was glad that she was giving me her professional opinion. She then started to show me a picture of a previous client she did an ombré to. LIKE I said, I totally understand her professional opinion. I told her I thought it was to light and I was not about to spend over $135 on barely having the tips dyed. I told her I wanted something different then what she showed me. In a way I kind of felt pressured and I told her I didn't want to make an impulse decisions because I knew I would regret it. It's also my money that I would have to spend. I know she got mad when I said that. I could tell. She then told me to look up on google and see what I liked because she recommended a caramel ombré. She showed me a picture and I liked it so I asked her if she could do that for me. She said no because it took me 30 minutes to decide what color ombré to get and she needed an hour and a half. FIRST OF ALL, when I called to make an appointment, I SPECIFICALLY ASKED IF I COULD HAVE A CONSULTATION before my appointment. The girl that answered said I would be able to do that during my appointment. SECOND OF ALL, they never said there was a amount of time that I had to finish my consultation! WTH! I told N____ I would think about it because I was not about to do an impulse decision only because she wanted me to do what she wanted but I wouldn't be satisfied. LIKE I said, I understand her professional opinion but come on at least tell me there's certain amount of time to try to see what I should do. I will for sure not come back. And I would never recommend someone to come here. Plus, they give you the starting price but don't know what amount they'll exactly charge until it's done. RIDICULOUS. I HAD beautiful, long, curly hair (almost shoulder length) I showed the stylist a picture of what I wanted to do with my hair (now grown and ready to be styled) My exact words were "I want to keep a good amount of length. An amount that is able to be grabbed, but not be a hassle to maintain" AS SHE TURNS ME AWAY FROM THE MIRROR (SO I CANNOT SEE WHAT SHE IS DOING) She proceeds to use a 4 on my sides, fades the back (my scalp is now showing), and left the TOP a good length (if only she had done that on my sides) The place is very packed. It's a "get you in, get you out as fast as possible" business. I will say that their products were reasonably priced against online pricing (I am saying this so I acknowledge some good in this bad, hints the 1 star). We are both very PICKY about who touches our hair because we don't want anyone to mess it up. We went and saw Janet, and she was able to do both of our hair cuts and I must say we were pleasantly surprised! This was my second time coming to Houston . The first time I went to see vida I had come just for a blow dry, she up sold me to a haircut which I agree I needed . This time I made the appointment and got a haircut . It was excellent as the previous time however when I got to the register to pay they charged me 20 so my service went from 39-59 she took it upon herself to flat iron my hair and then charge me for it . As the customer I was surprised to see that I had to pay extra when the stylist had not explained to me she was going to charge extra for a flat iron. I'm. Dry upset especially because I'm a stylist back home . I will not be back and I will not recommend this salon again read more
