TLDR; I went to get my hair done at the Galleria. I specifically told the hairstylist to keep my length, she cuts it entirely too short and adds in her term layers. Colorist and Shampooer agreed hair was not as I described to them. Manager made me feel like my feelings where invalid. Later on I noticed after paying 100+ dollars for color, I still have noticeable gray.
As many woman know, your hair is apart of your confidence. When go to take a picture or look in the mirror, I seem to notice my hair is the first thing that I attempt to fix. This started when on Wednesday; I went into the hair salon with an appointment for a cut and color. When I walked in the staff was very friendly and requested for me to wait in the lobby. My stylist greeted me and took me back to get my hair washed. I then asked her if I was going to get my hair washed twice as I was getting a color. She seemed shocked at my mention of getting color and took me back to her station. She asked me what I wanted. I said that I absolutely loved the length of my hair but I wanted a more dramatic angle. She seemed to understand, but as she was cutting I noticed that the length seemed to be getting shorter in the front. She asked how I wore it and I let her know that I often wear it curly in the front. She assured me that "beachy" layers would add volume to my haircut. This would turn out to be a major mistake.
After my hair was cut, I went back to the hair colorist, who I explained how I wanted my hair cut. She said she could see how it wasn't how I described but that she would do her best coloring to make the cut work. She promised me that she would get rid of my gray hairs and I was excited as they bother me greatly. She placed the blonde on my hair, and stated I could have my blonde about her bottom color. She sat me in a chair, letting me know that I would need to wait for the light to be accessible. 30 minutes later, I sit in the chair with the light and she says it would be five minutes. Without being checked on fifteen minutes later the shampooer comes to me and checks my hair. I've never been told about the third person, and I doubt it matters but I suppose at the time since my experience had already been downhill, I was just looking on the down side.
I explained to the lady washing my hair what I wanted and she informs me that she seems how it looks like a mom hair cut. There is NOTHING wrong with a Mom haircut, but I don't feel like that was the look I was going for. I asked for a dramatic angled bob, and I don't feel like I got that.
I got back to my hair stylist after waiting 20 minutes for her while I sat with my hair dripping wet in the lobby. She roll brushed my hair and then straightened it. She asked me how I liked it, and I was very upfront with her. I told her that I hated it and it wasn't at all what I wanted. I felt the layers looked blocky and that the over-all cut was not what I described.
She offered to have someone else cut my hair, but I was NOT interested in having more length taken off. She fixed some of the layers so that it at least wasn't horrific. I went to pay and waited an additional 10 minutes for someone to bring up the ticket so that I could pay. The Manager, Victoria, decided that the best choice of action was to inform me that I was not allowed to cry walking out of the salon and that there was nothing wrong with my hair. I told her that I did not like the length what so ever. I was made to feel bad that the hairstylist wasn't going to be paid for the work done on my hair. I was angry, hurt, and upset. She then informed me that I should have specifically requested for a disconnected hair cut. I don't know about the majority of you, but I don't exactly understand what terminology for hair cutting is. Should I bring a cosmetology handbook with me every time I go to get my haircut?
I asked if it would be at all possible to get two small extensions on the side to bring down the length in order for my hair to at least be manageable. Victoria stated she would not be able to assist, and would need to contact the regional manager. I sent an email and requested information for than and never heard anything back.
I did leave the salon in tears, and was so upset about my appearance. I felt unconfident. I then went home to decided to try adding to blond pieces of clip in extensions. The colors did not match, but I decided to attempt to make it work for the sake of feeling better about myself as I had work in the morning. When placing in the extensions I noticed that the gray pieces I had told her bothered me where still very noticeable.
Honestly, if the salon had decided that instead of trying to make me feel like I was in the wrong I don't think I would have ever felt this strongly compelled to write this review. I feel like others should understand the type of practice they run, and how they feel that customers should walk out feeling. I went in feeling excited and walked out in tears. read more
