I am surprised to see the rating of this shop is kinda low. I especially love this Peet's shop because all the staff members are always so nice and generous whenever I ask for a pup cup for my dog, a big-full cup compared to Starbucks' small and half :-). I always walk out there with some good coffee and good mood. I normally place my order from app ahead, then pick up from the counter, and ask for pup cup of course. I actually don't mind at all not being greeted. I would be exhausted to say any word if standing there for hours. I wish they had comfy sofa chairs, but then people would hang in there even longer I guess, LOL. read more

This review is about one of the baristas, Chris, who sometimes works the register. He wears glasses. I don't want to get into too much detail, but every now and then I stop by to grab a drink or pastry, and whenever he happens to be the one ringing me up, the experience has been very unpleasant. He has consistently been rude and dismissive, with very poor customer service. I honestly don't think I've ever seen him smile at a customer. I'm not sure why he is placed in a front-facing role where he has to interact with customers. I usually walk in with a good mood and end up walking out feeling the opposite. His energy is just off. Everyone else who works here is kind and pleasant. Unfortunately, his behavior takes away from the otherwise positive experience the rest of the staff create. Their space is vibrant, and did I mention that you do not need a code to use their restrooms?! My go-to beverage is their Iced Green Tea during the warmer months, and during the winter time - their Holiday Spice Latte with an extra espresso shot or two! (highly recommended) So, what is the Holiday Spice Latte? It features a pleasant but not overwhelming fusion of cloves, ginger and cinnamon, the holiday spice latte is a refined festive drink that we honestly loved. While it is made with Peet's signature dark-roast holiday spice blend, the coffee flavor is not overbearing, so it would definitely hit the spot even for a medium or light roast drinker. The latte highlights the spices -- the best part of the blend -- while not being overly complicated. I've also enjoyed their Horchata Cold Brew Oatmilk Latte, as well as their Peppermint Mochas when the season calls for it. I frequently order from Peet's Coffee at various locations. Today, I mistakenly placed an Uber Eats order at the wrong branch. I called to inform the staff and mentioned I'd pick it up later. They asked what time they should prepare it, and I told them 10:15 a.m. However, I got sidetracked, almost made it home, and only remembered to return for the order at 10:35 a.m. When I arrived, my order still wasn't ready. It's frustrating when a manager chooses to lie instead of taking responsibility for forgetting an order. Claiming they don't start orders until customers arrive, rather than being honest, is unprofessional and undermines trust. They said they could start making it then, which was frustrating since I was already running late--my son's teacher was scheduled to arrive at our house for his class, and I ended up being 10 minutes late. To add to the frustration, once my order was finally ready, they didn't place the drinks and sandwiches into a to-go bag. Carrying all that along with my son in my arms was impossible. When I asked the male staff member to put the items into a to-go bag (a standard practice for Uber Eats orders), he accused me of giving him an attitude. Got 1 star and 5 star service in same visit. Came in with my kid and cashier couldn't be bothered to look us in the eye or say thank you are offer any common courtesy. Meanwhile the person making my coffee couldn't have been better and truly offered service with a smile. I love Peet's and go to them all the time. I come to this one every few weeks and they never ever get my order correct. I have started making sure I speak extremely slowly and clearly and have them repeat it back, and yet they still don't either make the right food or mess up my drink. For example just today. I ordered two plant based flatbreads. She repeated it correctly back to me, and yet I got two plant based breakfast sandwiches. She rolled her eyes when I said I ordered the flatbread. I discover this location because I was craving for Kinder's. I found this location nice. The staff that work there are FRIENDLY. I was greeted when I came in and I was greeted when I left. You can not get a better greeting at any other Peet's Coffee. Lots of table in this location. I have taken a seat and just relax. I was not bothered by any messy table. I ordered my first pumpkin latte of the season. It isn't very pumpkin spice forward but it's nicely balanced with hints of nutmeg. You can still taste the bitterness of the coffee without being overly sweet. Still very enjoyable. This Peet's Coffee is located in the Ygnacio Plaza. We especially enjoy their outside seating where people often sit with coffee beverages and their furry friends. Fun neighborhood coffee shop located in a small plaza. This location is very clean and the employees are very cheerful and helpful. I ordered the Peppermint Cocoa, which appears to be a seasonal drink. It came out in a fair amount of time, even though this location was bumpin' that morning. It was quite busy on a Friday morning at 9.00am. Almost all of the seats were taken, but we found two at the big, shared table in the middle. The Peppermint Cocoa was just the right balance between peppermint and cocoa. I chose to add almond milk because I'm lactose intolerant, which added a bit to the price. I would gladly come back to this location. read more

Pretty okay. Opens early - definite win. Staff is good and works hard to get everyone served but it's often quite a lineup so be prepared to queue. The croissants and muffins and cakes are adequate, but no more than that. VERY loud once it gets going. Definitely a "bring silencing earphones" place. The coffee is fine but not great. Nothing that'll make you go "wow"! Lots of teas, which is a plus. The beans can be excellent, especially their limited releases. But watch for the roast dates, they can be three weeks old at times. Parking is easy early on and then later in the day the lot is PACKED. read more

Tables littered with food and scraps not wiped down. This is by far the worst Peet's in the area because of the lack of discretion when hiring young entitled employees. Place looks walnut Creek amazing .....beautiful floors and nice decor. I'm not a huge fan of Petes coffee but hey you can't be picky sometimes. The gentleman at the register seemed to have had a little more coffe than the average person. ...super EXCITED, full of energy and what you could expect from someone who had an expresso with like a million shots....took me off guard since I'm a little on the tired. I did asked for my drink to be stirred but I don't think he understood what I meant. I tried to explain but yet again I'm too tired. Results where a layered malchiato .. (which is what I didn't want...too sweet in parts way too sour in others) oh well coffee is coffee I suppose.... I LOVE my Peet's lattes! I use the APP to pre-order sometimes, but now I also just go into the shop to order in person, since I am not usually in a rush and not as worried about Covid face to face-ness. Most associates are friendly, and I like to chat with them when they seem ok with it. Who knows, maybe I can brighten their day? The teams usually seem to be working hard to fill orders, while maintaining courteous behavior. However, I'm a die-hard Starbucks fan. You would think Ygnacio Valley Rd, the main artery through Walnut Creek and then over the hill to Clayton Valley, would be a hotbed of coffee shops. And you would be wrong. In fact, traveling east on YV, there are no coffee shops after you leave downtown Walnut Creek for the 7+ miles till you arrive in Concord/Clayton. Except for one. This Peet's across from Heather Farms is the sole coffee oasis in this caffeine-challenged stretch. For location alone this place must do great business. It's a decent Peet's, nice, varied interior seating including window seating, some outdoor tables, a group table, and more private seating along the walls. The seating is decently spaced out so you aren't right on top of your neighbor. A great spot for relaxing and enjoying a bit of coffee. Good Peet's. *Great* location. read more

Employees are very rude. Granted we came an hour before closing and you could tell they just wanted to leave which I get but they are supposed to be open till a certain time and shouldn't be annoyed if people come in close to closing time. They are super unfriendly, dragging chairs along the floor, talking/screeching very loudly to each other. I'm giving a 3 star as I left very disappointed this morning as I ordered a vanilla latte with an extra shot and it sees all I got was a cup of milk. I have 0 hint of the coffee or shot.... there was a situation before where they forgot to add each. I was in a grab n go situation on my way to work and as I went to sip I was questionable on the color but then the taste confirmed it. I love ya peets but ya let ya girl down this AM. I just left this Peet's Coffee Shop on Ygnacio Valley Road in Walnut Creek. Unfortunately, I did not manage to get the cashier's name, as I was so flustered. As I was ordering a drink, I asked to substitute a non-dairy milk, and the cashier's response was "It doesn't matter what milk you choose, the calories will be the same." Excuse me? I was bewildered and mortified. Does he think I am ordering a soy milk, because he thinks I need to lose weight? Does he think I am engaging in a fad with my allergies? I tried to respond that I had allergies, but he again repeated "It doesn't matter if you get half-and-half, soy, or coconut, it's the same calories." His coworker overheard me, but he just glanced at me as he poured coconut milk into my drink. I told the cashier strongly, "I am lactose intolerant -- the calories aren't the issue." After such, he *finally* put my order into the register for me to pay. I was with a friend, and I was so shocked, I walked off. I will likely call the store when I get off work, but his behavior was completely inappropriate. I should not have to argue with a cashier to get my drink allergies-free for myself. I am extremely disappointed with the service I have received today, and I feel humiliated. Fuck this location. read more
