Father's Day - I am so disappointed in the service. We arrived on time. I was asked how many were in our party. I advised her that we had a reservation. She asked reservation - we do not have any reservations. Again, I stated that I have a reservation with a confirmation and reminders. She said you do? I stated yes, let's not go there and please fix it. I showed her the confirmation. They pushed tables together and we were seated. As we seated, she stated she would get us some rolls. We saw a smaller party, seated after us, receive rolls. We were eating, I asked for some rolls. She stated they are cooking some, they did not have any reservations, and did not plan for many people (like Mother's Day). I reminded that WE had a reservation. We finally received the rolls, closer to the end of our meals. During our eating, I asked her for more napkins - she responded - MORE NAPKINS - I put extras on the tables? I stated we used them (adults, children and a toddler) - we needed napkins. No cool. My son and daughter in love - waited long for their pizza (we all had our meals). She finally brought a pizza to the table and advised that the wrong pizza was cooked. (She did say they could eat that pizza (at no charge), since they have been waiting so long. Before the correct pizza arrived, she did ask if they wanted to box it up (we were all packaged up). So they did take it to go. I asked for two cups of sweet tea to go - she said you want two cups to go, I laughed and confirmed, "Yes, I am thirsty" the tea was very good! She then asked if one was for myself and my son (we both ordered tea (refills are included). We were going to get dessert, we decided, after this meal were not going to order any. After all, we didn't want to need more napkins. #1 - No apology for not having us on the reservation. #2 - She mentioned again we did not have any reservations and not prepared (when I asked for rolls). #3 - Why do we need more napkins - she had put extras on the table. #4 - Ask why I need two teas and who were they for? #5 - My daughter-in-law paid cash. She returned her change without removing the charge (which we had to ask what this fee was; she stated it was an automatic cc fee). My DIL said, "Oh, I have cash." Yet, she still charged the fee; she had to return the fee to my daughter in law. I will state that I budgeted a higher tip because we were a large party. I covered my 3 sons (the dads) and myself. However, I gave her 20% (with much regret). I just could not bring myself to reduce it. So disappointed. Food was good but that type of service!! 06.27.2026 - Finally, after sending *unanswered email, calling for owner(was told the owner would be in Friday and Sat. p.m.). Has potential and what we ordered was good, but needs some work or will turn a lot of people off. Very nice staff and good initial impression - until I asked about a liquor menu. I was handed a beer and wine menu. I said no, what about whiskey and tequila. Beer? Wine? No, no, not what I was asking about. Clearly limited English. I gave up and ordered a beer that I saw on draft. Sorry, no draft - only bottles. I said I saw the tap handle. Sorry, we no longer have any draft beers. *sigh* Bottled beer it is. Once we were seated, our server was very nice, had good recommendations, and spoke good English. She was clearly spread thin, however, and service was slow. Still, her recommendations were good and the food and salad were excellent. 4 stars because of good food and friendly service with good recommendations. Patio is also sweet and has a good area for kids - noting inside may be your preference if you're on a date night and don't want kids playing nearby. Inside ambiance looked nice. Almost went to 3 stars because of slow service and way too limited Enlgish working the front of house. This is a very solid Italian option in downtown Lewisville. We stopped in around 5:15 on a Saturday and the restaurant was almost full. We ordered the Meatballs, Spaghetti Bolognese, Chicken Martin, and Eggplant Parmesan. The meat balls were excellent and very flavorful, Spaghetti was a very creamy dish with lots of meat but was a bit one note, Chicken was excellent and our favorite dish, and the Eggplant was good but paired with a very intensely garlic flavored noodles. Overall the food was fresh and well prepared. Our only challenge was the service I think they only had two servers for the entire restaurant and even with them working diligently, the service was slow and inattentive. Still a good overall experience but the service keeps it from a fifth star. read more

Wow!!! We absolutely loved this place! Was looking for authentic Italian and we absolutely found it! from the really cool Italian style setting to the family that runs the place... we loved it! The complementary bread basket was very welcome and home baked bread is hard to beat! And then there was the seafood ravioli. Didn't really love the food or service at this restaurant. Ordered an old fashioned with Blanton's, and the server had no idea what I was talking about. I had to go to the bar and point out the bottle. The old fashioned was Blanton's on a rock with a maraschino cherry. Lol! The beet salad was ok, but the dressing was way too sour. I came to this place because it had good reviews and looked nice, but honestly, the food was awful a complete waste of money. I went about an hour ago and now I'm dealing with terrible stomach pain. First of all, I've never seen a carbonara made with onions totally irrelevant to the dish. They didn't even use pancetta, just basic bacon, and the sauce wasn't carbonara at all. It tasted more like a bland Alfredo with bacon completely flavorless. I also ordered the D'Nonna Seafood Pasta, which looked great in the photos but was incredibly disappointing. It came with only three shrimp and empty clam shells literally just the shells, nothing inside. Now I'm wondering if something was off with the seafood, because the stomach pain I'm experiencing is severe and not normal. Really hoping this doesn't turn into something worse. Before the ownership change D'Nonna was fantastic! I wanted to share the great food and experience with others by giving D'Nonna gift cards for Christmas. There's a sign at the host station advertising that they sell gift cards. I spoke with the host. He didn't understand what I was saying. He tried to seat me, then tried to get my credit card, then tried to get me to make a reservation. He barely spoke english and had no clue what I was asking. I had to point at their sign that says "gift card" and repeat myself multiple times. Once he finally understood, he said "we don't make gift card". I asked about the sign that literally says "gift card". He told me "we don't make no more, maybe make a reservation". I didn't need a reservation. I wanted to purchase gift cards to give as a gifts. I called after leaving, that didn't get me anywhere. I tried emailing. The email address on their website bounced back. I reached out by social media on Dec. 18th. I didn't receive a response until Dec. 28th (after Christmas). The response was from the former management. I'll miss the original restaurant, it was great! read more

Someone recommended D'Nonna to us and we were very excited to try it, given that it's so close to home, in Old Town Lewisville, which they're trying so hard to revitalize and we are trying to support their efforts, and since we are always trying to find a good Italian restaurant. We were, unfortunately, so disappointed. First of all, it's difficult to figure out where the front door is. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and just perfect! Love the brick walls and the bar and all of the decor! Unfortunately, it looks as though they've completely neglected the outside. They have a great patio, but there are weeds that are growing everywhere. The rose bushes look happy, but they definitely need to be deadheaded, and most of the plants that are so nicely gracing the patio are wilting or dead. We were greeted right away upon entering. They brought bread and marinara sauce to our table. The bread was warm and looked great! However, it was just bland bread. It had no flavor and definitely no garlic. And the marinara sauce that accompanied it was cold, which was a sad surprise. The menu looks great with lots of choices. We ordered an Italian margarita, which was good. We ordered the Salsicia Pizza, the Chopped Salad, and the Meatballs Napoletane. The salad was delicious and very flavorful; the lettuce was fresh and crisp. We enjoyed the meatballs. They had a good texture and were not dense. The pizza, though, was disappointing. The pictures showed it being covered in cheese, then with the toppings added. The cheese, though, was scarce. The sausage was good, but the toppings overall were very minimal. The pizza was not hot. None of the food was hot; it was just warm. The service was great and we appreciated the server's recommendations. This restaurant has so much potential! We hope for the owner or manager to read this review and that some of the things might be considered. Unfortunately it was raining earlier so we dined inside which gave a more date night atmosphere with beautiful classic Italian restaurant music playing. Everything on the menu looked fabulous and we were even lucky to have the owner stop by our table and talk about his grandmother's recipes and this being their family's first Texas location. Ordered D'Nonna for a party. Though they were able to get my order in for the same day, the pricing that showed online wasn't what they tried to charge me. I got a lasagna and chicken fettuccine order ($125) for small trays. And when I inquired about the pricing online, she said "I'll give you a discount" and changed it to $75 per tray. Well my friends, here I am again, going to new spots (at least for me), around the neighborhood. I have to be honest, I discovered this place totally by accident. I was coming out from a Sunday brunch and a wrong turn in the parking lot put me in front of this place. Definitively I was willing to try. Let's start with a little history. This place used to be Sfereco, also an Italian restaurant who disappeared not so long ago just out of the blue (even the one at the Flower Mound's river walk closed for good. I had a review for it in my profile if you want to check it). Back to D'Nonna. Once I transposed the door, I saw the setup is pretty much the same than Sfereco used to be. It was a Wednesday night and late for Texas standards, so the place was not busy. I sat at the bar. I noticed the bartender was taking care of the table (only one occupied at that point) and she took care of me (exactly the same happened to me at "Sfereco"). I ordered a glass of Chianti. After a bit the girl (who confessed to be below drinking age) told me she cannot find it. She offered me a red blend instead. Once I tried, I figured out she did not know the wines. She poured me a slight sparkling sweet red (Rivata Casa Rossa), typical dessert wine. I checked the bottles myself and I saw a California blend. She replaced my glass (much better at this point). I ordered the "Lewisville" salad (their version of Arugula and red beets) and Gnocchi 4 cheeses for entree. I got a basket of bread, which were very similar to the garlic roles "Sfereco" used to serve (too many coincidences, isn't it?). One thing I have to point, is they mismatched the order of the plates, I got the Gnocchi before my salad (hence the 4 out 5 stars). I asked the little bartender if she can switch the order, which she did with no hesitation. I ate my salad, which I can tell it was well balanced, since you have Arugula (sour) and Beets (sweet), so the dressing has to be up to par (which was, indeed). The Gnocchi, I can point, very few Chefs in Dallas (and if you rush me, I will say in America), knows how to cook Gnocchi (they cook pretty fast, and they become "polenta" if you overcook them), and these ones were right on point! Kudos to the Chef!! The four-cheese sauce was kind of mild but flavorful (Chef, not my intention to give you advise, but I could use a little bit of powdered Nutmeg there). I finished the plate in pretty much no time (I was hungry and it tasted good). Got myself an after-dinner drink, paid and left. Honestly, I felt like I was back at "Sfereco". The experience was pretty close so was the result. Well, the important thing is, I found another good dinning place around the neighborhood. If you are thinking about going to the "Garden-Of-The-Olives" or similar, I really encourage you to try this place instead. You won't be dissapointed. read more
