Would give less than one star if possible. No soliciting sign on the door and the walkway but they didn't seem to care. the sales reps came to our door in a two team duo at 7:30pm. The girl did all of the talking since I am a young man (I'd assume) until it came time to perform their scam in which the man took over. Gave a huge BS "deal" which was a complete scam and barged into my house to see my thermostat. Ended up running up a bill that they said they'd cover the everything but the monthly service charge to use our front yard as "prime real estate to promote Vivint," which we were later told by a technician that it wasn't allowed what they told us. Everyone in the house heard it and confirmed that we didn't hear them say something else. They ended up getting us to sign thinking we were getting a great deal, and sent over a technician who didn't come over until 9:30 and didn't leave until 11:50pm. The technician destroyed the house by drilling huge holes in our walls, as well as cracked our door frame drilling in new door handles. When we had another technician over to pull our equipment when we cancelled, he couldn't even remove the door handles to put the original ones back on, due to our door's integrity being compromised. Overall this company might have great equipment which is actually pretty neat, but it's impossible to overlook the terrible service and scamming mentality of the sales reps. If they ever come to your door, be aware of their pitch, it's all a scam and a lie. read more

But having to go through the salesman process, the customer service and the install process is like having cancer. It's literally hurdles and incompetence left and right. Maybe it's the Covid style employees, but overall the horrible install process and incompetent customer service should be warned to everyone before signing up. (It's been a week and I've talked to over 10 employees, going on three installers, and don't have all the products I've ordered and a incomplete security system.) System is great, good quality. You do pay a service fee plus a seperate fee for the equipment in order to own it. I've encountered the following issues though: 1) Vivint kept my $1200 deposit that was suppose to be applied to the equipment and ONLY returned it after I took notice. 2) Google Nest Thermostats weren't programming so therefore the issue was handled by Google NOT Vivint. 3) I had (2) Keypad Door Locks malfunctioning, Vivint sends (1) and its in the wrong color and now I'm awaiting on the proper replacements. This process has taken 2-3 weeks now. 4) Vivint does NOT send a technician back out to repair/replace any equipment. Upon receiving the new part/s, YOU the customer is walked through the installation process by a Vivint Rep. Overall, the system operates nicely until you encounter issues and have the need to contact Vivint. Pay attention to what currents customers are saying & posting. read more

I have to admit that overall their system works, so In the beginning I would have given them 4 or 5 stars. But now after having the system for a few years, I'm realizing that I got ripped off in the beginning. So even though it basically works, I wouldn't recommend them. Three years ago I went through a rough time in my personal life and had to move into the house I'm currently in. I got a quote from Vivent and it seemed like a great deal. The sales guy was super nice, made me feel comfortable, so I agreed to sign up. Well idiot that I was at the time, which I now can honestly attribute to the hard times I was going through personally, I failed to get a copy of the receipt or written contract from the guy before he left. I was supposed to pay about $60 per month for my system, which included the monthly cost of the security system that they installed and the payment for the service that I chose, but then after approximately 2 years my monthly payment was supposed to go down to around $40 after the system was paid off. The first problem I had was that he forgot to add the main camera to my package, so I had to pay another $300 on top of what we had agreed upon. Fine, it was added to my plan. Well here we are almost 3 years later, and my payment is the same and has still not gone down to the $40 that he had promised. And because I failed to get a copy of the contract from the guy, which was totally my bad, I have no proof of the agreement that he promised me. Also on top of that, I paid for 3 glass break sensors, which I have proof of, 2 downstairs, 1 upstairs. But I recently realized that they never actually installed the one upstairs. Again my bad because I should have checked at the time they installed it and realized it then. I guess what it all comes down to is that at a time in my life when I was going through a personal struggle, and perhaps wasn't operating as mentally savvy as I would have preferred, their sales guy used it as an opportunity to take advantage of the situation in order to make a sale. Good for him I guess, but not so much for me. So if you go with Vivent, get everything in writing, and check for every single piece of hardware that is supposed to be installed. read more

We had a salesman come around our neighborhood one night selling Vivint. We did not answer the door because most of all, we are struggling financially and cannot afford anything anyone is selling. About 10 minutes later, my daughter opened the garage door to get something out of our car and he came running up to us with a sales pitch! I told him we weren't interested but he started in on his manipulation techniques and lies. We said we were already under contract with another competitor and he said that they buyout the competitors' contracts. He said the service was $125/ month and began showing us all the wonderful advantages Vivint has. The list went on and on. We fell hook, line, and sinker! We could have all the security we needed, as we feel we are at high risk for crime against our already marginalized family. It would only be a few more dollars than what we were paying now for our other security service. They wanted to install it that night but we told him we had little ones and were putting them down for bed. He promised they would be here soon and take less than two hours. The technician finally showed up 2 hours later which was too late for him to start because my kids were now asleep and I was going to bed. I asked him if he could come back at a specific time the next day. He said he would. He did not show and the salesman tried to reschedule for another day which was not a good day for us. We agreed on the following Monday morning and he could complete the install. My wife was there for the install and said the tech came in an unmarked car and had no Vivint logos or IDs but she allowed him in. The guy must have been new because he kept calling someone else asking how to install and set up the equipment. He destroyed the prior cameras from our old company when he "tore" them down and left several times to get more parts. Finally, he left 8 hours later without connecting the sliding glass door to the system because he didn't have the right part or didn't know how to set it up. They were unable to return for another week to finish the job, after repeatedly calling and complaining that our house was not secure with a toddler and a pool just steps away from the unsecured sliding door. We had spoken with the salesman about not being able to finance any of the deal because we have bad credit. 2 days later I received an email from a financing company that welcomed us to their group and said we owed over $4000. That was later canceled by the salesman and the "bill" was being financed by Vivint itself. My wife and I kept telling ourselves we should never have done this. But the new walls and the outdoor stucco had new holes that wouldn't be repaired. Now we find out that they do not pay off the old company. We have to pay them off to cancel the service, then Vivint will send us a gift card. We don't even know if that gift card covers the payoff amount. This has been the worst business experience we have dealt with and we have had quite a few. This salesman is a master manipulator and liar. The technicians are incompetent and the administrators and customer service people are also helpless. If I could give this company zero stars I would! My fiance and I were tricked and decieved into a free 30 day trial by a sales representative named Parker Weaver #213064. We were told to try out the service free for 30 days and then we could cancel if we didn't want it. Mind you we already had a existing doorbell camera. The sales rep promised that its a 30 day free trial and we could easily cancel it. So we agreed, but after reading some reviews and learned that it's actually really hard to cancel the free trial. I called the sales rep the very next morning and told him that I changed my mind and didn't want the security system before the techs came to install the equipment. He insisted to say that he would help us to cancel the service and he gave me his word and promised he would help. He even said he would have his manager help to cancel the service. So I agreed to the free 30 days. They had came to install the equipment 30 mins later and after they installed it, the technician said it was only a 7 day free trial period. So I called my sales rep again to clarify that it was a 30 day free trial and he said "its usually a 7 day but for us it will be a free 30 day trial." He promised again and gave me his word. 30 days came up and I decided to give my sales rep Parker a call and he is no where to be found all of a sudden He's not answering our calls and blocked our numbers. So I call the company myself and found out i am not able to cancel the service because I am now locked into contract for 5 years. The free trial was for 7 days. I can not cancel until they get a hold of my sales rep and he has to tell vivint himself that he had given me the trial for 30 days. I have never in my life been so disgusted with a company and how they do business.  They are literally lying and deceiving people into signing up with their company and not even caring about it. I'm not going to pull any punches about Vivant! In my opinion they are the most anti-American customer service company around. You'd better ask your questions 5 times and be absolutely positive that you understand them. And you had better also document every name & date of any & all communications. Several months into my unfortunate purchase and contract with these people, I tried to return their surveillance equipment and keep the monitoring service. That's when i finally realized that there were 2 companies involved. Had this system for 2 years and it was fine, I moved out and now I get the bills when the new owner makes changes to their account. They can't even get billing right. I have called multiple times to try to get refund for the charges and they put me on hold for an hour or more to tell me I need to talk to a different department, that department will say everything is good and I will get a refund after two weeks, after a month of no refund I call again and they have no idea what I'm talking about. After a week, I was about to cancel the service; they said the contract is only three days, and this salesman should have indicated something about the 30-day trial on my contract. I was informed of false information. I called customer service and was transferred to too many departments and people who said they could not do anything about this because it passed the three-day trial. I decided to cancel my contract due to poor equipment and service, but Vivint makes it impossible to do this on the phone. I spent nearly 3 hours on multiple phone calls and finally spoke to a supervisor to get help. Vivint continued to bill me for 6 months even though I received no service from them. You CANNOT cancel this service contract on the phone, as their website indicates. Because they consider it a "life-saving service" it takes 30 days to cancel. Purchased an upgrade to my system at a cost of 2100 and was told it would be payable in 5 payments was charged over 3500 and get not get a satisfactory resolution to the error also quoted a monthly service charge of 34.99 per month in the month of April I was charged 3 separate times on 3 consecutive days of the same month different amount when I called I was told it would be taken care this never happened. TLDR; Horrible company. Shady, lying salesmen. Outrageously over priced. Terrible customer service. Charges you for services you didn't ever get. Sorry, this is going to be long, but I'm pissed. Vivint is by far the worst company I have ever has the displeasure of dealing with. I recently purchased a new home and needed a security system. My fiancé has used Vivint for years at our old home and besides the older tech of the devices we had, there were no issues so I decided to get a quote from Vivint on our new home with the intention of getting it installed. When I first called I was connected to a sales representative named Frank, unfortunately I didn't get his last name, but he is located in the Las Vegas/Henderson area. Over the phone we told Frank everything we needed and he quoted us $54.80/month including the equipment and monitoring fee. We also learned that since my fiancé had purchased his original security system Vivint had changed their pricing model and instead of them throwing in a bunch of equipment at the start and just paying $60/month, they now have you finance all equipment and they quoted me a $21.46 monthly service fee. No problem, sounds great. My fiancé and I spent almost am hour on the phone with Frank asking him a ton of questions regarding how much more would it be if we needed x amount more sensors once the technician got here and fully assessed our home. Frank assured us MULTIPLE times that it would never cost us more than the $54.80/month even with more sensors because Vivint makes their own equipment and it is "cheap" to them. My fiancé even asking him verbatim, "so hypothetically say we need 30 more sensors, it would be the same price?". Frank again assured us it would be. The reason we grilled him so hard because if you are financing the equipment, how does more equipment not equal more expense. Doesn't make sense, right? But that is what he told us so we went with it and scheduled a time for a technician to come over an install. Overall, we were quoted $1,999.74 total for the equipment we would be financing. Once the technician got here, he looked on his tablet and read off everything he was to be installing that day. It only included 6 sensors. I let the technician, know what we were promised over the phone and his face instantly dropped and was like here we go again. He told us this is a common occurrence where the salespeople constantly overpromise. He told us that wasn't how it worked and you do in fact have to pay for each additional device, so Frank either lied to get the sale or is an idiot. The technician quoted us a total of $3679.55 for the amount of equipment we needed to finance which is insane. By the way, this was supposed to be a takeover system, our home is already hardwired and we already have our own cameras and smart door lock. This was literally only for a panel, some door/window sensors, and a couple glass breaks. The pricing is outrageous. $1,679.81 MORE THAN WE WERE ORIGINALLY QUOTED. We told him we weren't going to go through with that at the moment and wanted to talk to Vivint again first. He told us he would put in his notes and someone from the company should be contacting us shortly. I do want to say the technician was actually really great and we felt bad that we had to waste his time and turn him away. While waiting for a call, we decided to contact Frank again on his personal line. After telling him what happened, he again said what he quoted us was correct and tried to put the blame on the technician. He then said he was on his way back to the office and would call us in about an hour to go over everything further. Guess who we never heard from again. I later got a voicemail from an account manager named Chelsea calling us to go over our issue. When I tried calling back on the same number, Chelsea was unavailable, but I was able to speak to another man who's name I did not catch. We told him the entire situation and what the salesman had promised us over the phone. The line Frank used was recorded and the account manager told us he was going to pull the recording and listen to it and get back to us. Never heard back from them either. At this point we were 100% done with Vivint and had decided to go with ADT instead (they were great btw, no shady sales tactics or surprise costs). The big kicker is I just got charged the monthly monitor fee they quoted me! The Vivint system does not exist in my home and I never signed a contract with them. Ridiculous. read more

Rip-off and mighty shady business practices. After paying a $21 deposit (refundable only if you buy the system), I had a rep come out and discuss a takeover from my ADT service to save money. Over the phone a different rep had quoted $41 per month, but now it was going to be $49, which included the financing for a new keypad. Or I could pay $600 up front for the keypad and then $46 per month. All of this was negotiated by the rep on a call to his supervisor. There was nothing in writing at any time, so I refused to sign up. All this rigamarole would have saved me only $4 month. Avoid Vivint. read more

Stay away.... far far away!! The sales person is nice but very persistent especially with a no solicitation sign on my front window. We ended up purchasing equipment (thru financing) and service. We were told the installation guy would be there within an hour and it would take less than an hour to set up. Installation guy came about 3 hours later and was here for at least 2 hours (for 2 cameras and 3 sensors). I advised not to use the outlet he wanted to use since there was equipment already using the outlet. He said he would run it behind the refrigerator in the garage and of course didn't. About a week later we had issues with the equipment going on and offline. We talked to tech support and it works then doesn't work. I even paid $150 out of pocket for my internet provider to come out and verify the internet / WiFi is just fine. No surprise a week later the equipment does not work again. It has been down for two days. The sales tech that said he would be available for any issue is not available. I am tired of dealing with tech support. Now to try and cancel.. forget about it. They say you have three days to cancel or you have to pay the full price of the equipment and 50% of the contract. First of all, 3 days is not long enough to determine if their service / equipment works. Secondly, why would I pay full price for equipment that does not work. I got off the phone with an "account manager" that extended my contract instead of canceling. Are you freaking kidding me! They don't deserve a star. Equipment has issues constantly and you need to troubleshoot with them on the phone because they don't send help unless you pay for it. Ive spoken to 7 different customer service agents and everyone tells me something different. I've been trying to get a broken security door lock fixed for over a month and a half. Called to cancel service twice and they hung up on me both times. Called back and they wouldn't pick up and a recording said they were closed. I'm still paying for a service that I can't use and can't cancel the service. So, if you're looking for this type of product and service, this is the company for you. read more

Stay Away! We signed up with Vivint a while ago. Aside from batteries draining quickly, there really wasn't too much of a problem with the service itself. When we contacted them to possibly add additional cameras because of an increase in crime in the area, they quoted us astronomical prices over double their market values. Just recently, we bought a new house and moved into it. I reached out to update our service address and they want to charge me $129.00 to do it. They claim it's to have a tech install the already installed wireless hardware. Such a scam. We'll be cancelling as soon as our contract is up in the next 10 months. read more

He's been at my door three times and three times I advised him I have security and DO NOT wish to change. We are elderly and my husband is not well. I will never ever purchased anything from Vivint again. I won't refer anyone I won't buy any more products from them. I've been with them since 2017 and I have been fighting to have my invoices corrected for the last four months only for them to lie. Their business practices are not truthful from day one and I will keep shouting it to the rooftops until they fix my bills. I paid them in full and they will not honor the price they quoted me. They Asked me who did I speak with in the loyalty department?? I gave them date and time. All they have to do is pull the phone records. DO NOT SIGN UP!!! Buy a pit bull jk... I was moving to Henderson NV from California so the apartment building sent the move link and Vivint was on there. So signed up probably 2/06/23. I went to Vegas 3/4/23 to sign my lease which move in date 3/10 and I told VIVINT move in date 3-10-23. First the sent the DIY KIT to the wrong address so had to call again they had to send it again. They won't cancel the service because I was 3 days past the 30 days. At the time I barely had the boxes a week and haven't even moved in. So they want me to pay 36 months off services that hasn't even been started or connected. I opened the box to see what was in there that's it. I should of transferred my ADT so I was with for over 15 years. I refuse to pay which will effect my credit I am livid. I give it negative 50 stars. I already talked to the apartment manager in regards of this not to refer Vivint and posted on my social media. Even had a a few friends repost it for me. I asked for loyalty department loyalty department gets annoyed because I asked for a supervise and transfers me to a total different department and this is not the first time it has happened. DO USE VIVINT!!! As I'm typing this so far been on the phone waiting 37 minutes so far. Last week I was on the phone for almost 2 hours still no resolution. This is ridiculous. They should pay me for my time and my minutes on my phone even though it's unlimited minutes they still should pay .25 cents a minute. Good luck if you sign up. Pick any other competitor service. Vivint is the worst! Camera will constantly freeze up and videos will be choppy. I went out of town and wanted to keep an eye on my house through my system and the hub conveniently stopped responding when I needed it to work most. Customer service is a joke and can never do anything for you but offer $15 off. Slap in the face. I wish I could just cancel service but they will continue to charge you for the crap equipment until it's paid off so you're stuck! Please save your money!! read more

INITIAL REVIEW: August 8th, 2017 My husband and I are truly disappointed with Vivint. According to the consultant who ultimately helped us with the contract and installation process, Vivint was the best thing that she had ever personally experienced as a home security system and as an interface system with the ability to incorporate other smart home systems (such as Alexa and Nest). Unfortunately, in our experience that is not the case in the slightest. Although the idea of having an app available for smartphones that would enable us to control the system remotely is a truly wonderful concept, the real-life actuality of this app is quite disappointing. The app only works properly approximately 60% of the time. The other 40% of the time the app either will not connect with the system, freeze and shut down our phones, or connect very sporadically and lose connection just as quickly. This is frustrating as we do not have the ability to remotely control let alone monitor our home as we were promised we would. The system itself routinely (once or twice a week at a minimum) sends incorrect readings and will say that one of our doors is open when they're closed, the overhead garage door is up when it is shut, or that the front door is unlocked when it is indeed locked. This does not necessarily persist for a short amount of time - we've been sent notifications on numerous occasions saying that we left something open or unlocked. Upon checking, we've found that everything is secure, but that the system is sending us faulty information. This is very unnerving as it can happen in the middle of the night or while we are away from the house, and consequently leads us to worry that our house has been broken into or that we left something unsecured. Furthermore, when the system is triggered we rarely receive a "checkup call" from Vivint to verify that everything is okay. For example, our fire alarms are very, very obnoxiously sensitive. If we are cooking on the stove - not burning or even frying anything for clarification - our fire alarms will go off about 25% of the time. I don't believe these are Vivint fire alarms so their sensitivity does not really apply here, but they are connected to the Vivint system. We have only ever received one "checkup" call from Vivint out of the 5-7 times the alarm has gone off when the system has been armed. Additionally, we had a Vivint glass break sensor installed which is practically useless. It goes off whenever our utensils bump together with anything more than the slightest of touches. Only once have we received a call when this has happened whether the system was armed or not. The other major faulty piece of equipment is the doorbell camera. It frequently disconnects from the smart hub and the apps. Furthermore, when someone rings the doorbell and we try to access our camera on our phones to see and possibly interact with the person at our door, the camera routinely will not connect until a minute or two after the doorbell has been rung or the panel has been reset, making the doorbell camera essentially useless. The doorbell camera is also supposed to capture movement and store records of such clips. While it does a great job of catching the cars that go down our street and the breeze as it moves our tree's branches, it was unable to detect the movement of someone breaking into our car that was directly in its line of sight. While we were very hopeful that Vivint would give us a sense of security and allow us to control our smart home features with ease, it has ultimately made us feel less secure in and in less control of our own home. UPDATE: March 11th, 2019 The app has been working more reliably as of late, but only marginally so. The connection has been better, so there has indeed been some improvement there, but it has sent false information to us many times. We always lock and close the doors of our house when we leave, yet Vivint routinely says that our front door is unlocked or even open. An important note, our front door is the only one with an automated locking mechanism. When the app notifies us that there is an issue, you can bet we open it and attempt to lock the door via the app. However, it simply does not work. Why? Because the door is already LOCKED. In addition to all of this, we have had issues with our Vivint "security" system OPENING our overhead garage door or UNLOCKING our front door ON ITS OWN. Finally, the panel itself is supposed to have its own backup power. Yet, I cannot unplug it from its outlet to move from one place to another without it dying and having to restart. Aaaaaand we are locked into a contract with them for a few more years as of yet.... In sum, if you are looking for a reliable security system to protect yourself or your loved ones, steer clear of Vivint for both your fiscal, and emotional and mental sanity. read more
