It's all very simple. THIS COMPANY IS A COMPLETE SCAM!!! In order to schedule an appointment with them, you must either purchase all equipment in advance either by paying cash upfront a little under $5000 or they will perform an inquiry, a frowned upon credit check, with a deposit of $129 that would only be applicable and deducted if you purchase their equipment to secure an appointment. Heed WARNING DO NEITHER!!! So as I was unaware for my 4000 sq ft home only wireless systems with a maximum of only 7 cameras total including the doorbell camera, (which means your security will be compromised if the wifi drops) was the maximum equipment that was charged over the phone and not what was promised by their phone representative. The nice installer/technician arrives on time to explain that the hard wired system with more than 7 cameras is a product that doesn't exit with VIVINT. So obviously canceled the whole job, the installer had to phone in to the main customer service line who spoke to me and I verbally confirmed my complete consent for canceling this entire action. Well VIVINT still is holding my less than $5000 HOSTAGE from my atm now for about a 1.5 months and stated that it'll take them an additional 2 weeks to deposit back the money AFTER 5 phone calls! So if you're looking to upgrade your home into a smart home especially if it's above 1,500 sq ft your better off looking into authorized full service dealers of RTI, and Savant with far better quality hardwired cameras for the price and simply using alarm.com for surveillancing. You can google those highly rated brands and then see that everyone including ADT, Simplysafe, Eagle Sentry are technically under the alarm.com surveillance network but just have their logos printed on them. Where do I start... Considering where my wife and I have come from in ADT, I can confidently say that Vivint Solutions does have innovative and fun products compared to the former. The security system is up to date in terms of technology and offers nice spins with the customizable doorbells, which brings enjoyment and fun to the occasion. That's about where it ends with the positive. I mentioned above that my wife and I have come over from ADT to Vivint. It was promised to us that if we were to leave our current contract with ADT and switch over to Vivint, that our early cancellation fee from ADT would be paid by Vivint. Hearing this promise from the representative was enough for us to pull the trigger on the switch. That was two months ago, and still we have NOT received any payment of the sort for the cancellation fee. My wife has had a few conversations with the representative and he has promised on multiple occasions that the payment has been shipped and we would be waiting for a tracking number, that turned out to be a lie. On another occasion, he stated that the payment was approved and he is now waiting for Vivint to send out the gift card, and this was AFTER he stated before that the Bank of America gift card was shipped! That turned out to be another lie. When we attempt to call this individual, he will not answer and when he does answer, there's always an excuse. To this day, we were promised a call on Tuesday, April 11th and of course, like clockwork, no call. I say all that to say, while Vivint does have nice and innovative technology, it is definitely not worth the headache of broken promises and a lack of communication between the representatives. My wife and I feel like we were led astray and manipulated by deceitful practices in order for the representative to secure another contract and a notch in their cap. I definitely DO NOT recommend this service unless any promise made can be backed by a written promise that it would be upheld. If we had known that it would be this difficult and stressful, we would have stayed with ADT. But I guess everything is okay because our doorbell can make funny noises. The security system works most of the time, but when it doesn't then customer support is very inefficient. We have had troubles with a window sensor since it was installed two years ago, we call every 2-3 months. It will work for a bit then stops again. The others are fine but they won't fix this one that is defective. Additionally, we were "guaranteed" something when we got our system in new home. Now they refuse to uphold the guarantee, and want name and ID number of the person we worked with two years ago- as if we had it. We just signed up with Vivint and had a security system installed at the house. The tech that installed our system, Frank, was on time (even early!), friendly and very considerate - offering to clean up everything and making sure that every was set correctly prior to leaving. We requested some placements for our sensors that were, I guess, kind of out of the ordinary - but he was more than happy to help us out saying "it's your system, we want you to be happy with it". Great customer service attitude. One of the coolest things about the system is that we can control our system remotely - either over the web or via smartphone app. If you feel like you forgot to arm the system when leaving - you can check the system's status from anywhere! (And turn it on remotely if you DID forget). Super duper! The salesman that we placed the order with on the phone was good - but neglected to tell us that the contract period was 42 months(!) until the end of the call. Customers beware... This is been one of the worst experiences of my life when dealing with a service that does not work or any service company in general for that matter. . This company has very kind and enjoyable representatives on the sales, customer support, and technician side. But once you realize the cameras don't work and the system has dozens of glitches no matter what equipment gets replaced or serviced by a technician, they will not let you out of this contract without filing a suit. I have spent $700 only half a year again on a system that has had 15 service calls and I don't know how many hours wasted on the phone. They have obnoxiously long waiting lines over the phone as well... Expect at least 30 minutes per department you need to talk to. I only know two other families with this service and they are going through A very similar experience. I strongly recommend doing as much research as possible from other customers with poor reviews before even remotely considering signing this contract! This has been a nightmare! read more

DO NOT USE VIVINT. Ever since my system was installed about two months ago I have had nothing but trouble with Vivint and Vivint customer service. Today when I accidentally set off my alarm for the first time there was a communication failure. After more than an hour on the phone with a Vivint technician the problem could not be resolved. I was told that Vivint would have to send out a technician and that the first available appointment - A FOUR HOUR WINDOW - was in four days. (I was initially told that there would be a fee for the technician visit to fix this essentially brand new system, but after vociferous complaint I was told that there would be no fee). In my earlier review I said that the problem seemed to only be Vivint service... now I know that it is the products (the hardware and software) that are problems too. Oh, and forget about trying to talk to someone at corporate headquarters... they are too important to talk to mere customers. Maybe, after a call from the supervisor with whom I spoke, and after an email to complain they will see their way clear to communicate with a lowly unimportant customer. Just installed a Vivint alarm and camera system based upon recommendations from friends who already own a Vivint system. Needless to say, so far I am very disappointed. First, when asked, the sales rep told me that the cameras are "hardwired" to the home's electrical when in-fact they are plug-in and need wifi to operate. Secondly, the technician showed up to the install appointment without most of the equipment I purchased. He said he could do a partial install and come back at a later date to finish the system. Thirdly, after installing the system, the technician informed me that my wifi service is not fast/strong enough to run the system properly so he had to adjust the system to run off of the cellular system. The problem is that now I wont be able to view my cameras/alarms through the cell phone app when I'm away from my home. Basically the technician said that after spending thousands of dollars on an alarm/camera system, now have to shop for a better internet service if I want to be able to use the phone app. (and there's no guarantee that that will solve the problem). My other choice was I could cancel the contract and he could remove the system, leaving holes in my walls. Then, A day after the install, 2 of my cameras went off-line. The salesperson, Dallon tricked me. I got royally cheated because of the lies, and yes, I was naive, but he seemed convincing. I just found out that it will cost $1100 to break my old contract (he implied it would be about $200 and Vivint would pay for it.)Here is a summary of the lies he told me: * He said my old company, Monitronics, was discontinuing service in my area (boy was I dumb to believe this one, but he caught my while I was extremely busy and distracted) * He said he would give me $200 to cover the cost of breaking my contract with Monitronics (turns out it will be $1100 to break that contract). * He said he would be available by cell any time I need him (He gave me a cell phone number that he doesn't answer or text back from) * He told me my system will work with Amazon Echo Dot. It doesn't. Your tech support tells me Amazon has a software issue. Amazon doesn't know what you're talking about. The resolution specialist can't help me. She only offered to defer 6 months of payments to Vivint. Now I have to go the next year with double payments, from both my old company and my new company. So now I have a 5 1/2 year contract with a company I hate, and I will not be continuing after that time is up. During that time, I will tell my story to everyone every chance I get. So Vivint was supposed to show up Friday with a "patch" to fix my camera. The "patch" never came so the technician did not show up. This was set up by a "supervisor". They have offered to cancel my contract moving forward but will not put my house back to how it was before. (I had a self contained security system). Therefore leaving me with way less than what I started with as well as wasting money the last year and a half for a system that did not work completely. I have had Vivint as our home security system for 2.5 years and it has been somewhat reliable, however, this week my panel has disconnected from the cameras etc 3 times, today I was on hold for 20 minutes, (normal hold time is less than 1 minute) last night when I called it was a 50 minute hold time. They have no local number to call for someone to come out and replace the panel, I'm not a satisfied customer at this point. I feel like they are having issues on their end and they won't come clean and admit it. If that many people are calling in then there must be trouble. i would give less stars if I could. We have been customers at our home and business for 5+ years. Our back door sensor went bad in our business. It kept setting off alarms at 1,2,3 in the morning. I called them after the first two and they had me send an email explaining the problem. Unknowingly 13 more alarms were set off. You would have thought someone from the company would have called and told us after our email. They charged us $50 per call because they said they sent out security ( they never came because i have cameras that show no one responded) but i was still obligated to pay the fees. Everytime you call them you spend at least 1 hour on the phone with no resolution. They offered to send a technician out for free to fix my problem. I declined because i don't trust the sensors not to go off and I can't afford $50 a false alarm. I'm stuck in a contract with them that i can't turn on. I would not recommend this security company and we use to love them. read more

Ok, so here's the deal. I got Vivint over 5 years ago. They installed the equipment efficiently and there were things about the system I loved, including the phone app. They bundle the cost of the equipment with the monitoring costs. Once the equipment is paid off (3-4 years) they continue to charge you the same amount just for monitoring. It's on you to call and "renegotiate" the monitoring. They make this very, very difficult. If you opt out of monitoring (which I did) you no longer have access to the app to "self" monitor or manage your system remotely. Your cameras are then rendered useless and you have to do everything from the base keypad in the house. Also, their equipment starts to fail after a couple of years, so you have to repeatedly buy new equipment to keep your system running. They keep you in a hamster wheel of paying them money. I recently switched to SimpliSafe and it feels so good to say good-bye to Vivint!! read more

Do NOT waste your money on VIVINT. I wish I had read the reviews before I bought this system. If it worked the way it was supposed to it would be great but unfortunately the cameras are always offline, usually at the most important times, when something is happening outside. If they're not offline then it takes forever for the video to load and by then whatever was going on is over. Whenever something happens I we go back to look at it on camera it says no video available. I've had several incidents at my home that somehow didn't get caught on camera. When I call they say they can't fix the problem, they said "oh your 4 year old cameras are outdated you'll have to purchase new ones! Well I just finished paying for them, how convenient! I seldom give reviews but I wouldn't recommend Vivant Security Systems at all! I had their system and service in my previous home to support a friend who was working there at the time. They lock you into a 5 year contract which I should have checked out better. Prior to moving, I paid off the equipment and the buyer of my townhouse was going to take over the service... she was a liar and didn't but that's a whole other story. My cc on file was charged last month so I paid off the remaining balance of the service and received a confirmation email that my account was canceled, sorry to see you go, blah blah blah. I noticed those clowns charged my cc yesterday for another month of service. I don't think these companies realize that consumers are on top of their finances and actually check charges on their account. After having to make yet another call today, hopefully this has been resolved by "Fred" in the loyalty department or he'll be hearing from me again. I love when you call these companies and they transfer you around to who knows where to speak with someone who can't understand you and you can't understand them. After 2 burglaries on my street. I decided to contact security companies. I had three companies come and give me a quotes. Cox, Monitronics, ADT, and Vivint. Once I got the quotes I was doing my research. The next day another home was broken into. Do to price and features I decided to go with Vivint. I contacted Lee Barber who had installers in the same night. I wanted to wait a month or so to post until after I was able to test the customer service and response. After a few accidental false alarms we noticed that the company was very responsive and polite. Lee was great and even followed up with me to see how I liked my system. A pushy salesman came to our door while my wife and kids got home and was putting away groceries. My wife said she wasn't interested and that we have cameras and security and don't need their service. He then begins to harass my wife about getting cameras through Vivint even after she told him no and that we already have cameras. He then says that we live in a high crime area and that our cameras are cheap and that we would be calling Vivint in a year from now for their service. His rudeness and bad attitude took my wife and son by surprise and she told him with his attitude we wouldn't choose Vivint in the first place. He then says to her would you really go with us in the first place.. If I was there I would have told him where he could go.. Well, a Utah company coming to Vegas and trying to sell security cameras with terrible sales reps will never get you anywhere in our town. Okay so I got this service 6 years ago and was told that once my 5 years was up for paying for the equipment my bill would decrease. I called on last week (I had been calling for a year with run arounds) and was told that the supervisor said that that's what the salesman say to customers to make sales. But, this was after the rep was confused as to why my bill didn't decrease so I don't believe that. They only offered for me to sign a new contract to decrease my bill for 3 years!! Smh. I was told the panel to be installed was free as long as I paid for the Vivint service. So I picked up two cameras at $100.00 a piece to go along with the new system. Come to find out the panel was not free, and the cameras were way more than I was told by Vivint. I contacted Vivint about this and they basically said there is nothing they are willing to do to help resolve this, so now I am stuck paying over $1500.00 for the system as well as the monthly monitoring fee as well. So if you are considering Vivint, a security system with two cameras will run you $83.00 a month for years. After reading all these horrible reviews I'm glad that the appointment we had with some asswipe by the name of Luke fell through! We met a rep at Sam's and he set up an appointment for a consultation for Tuesday 1/29, Monday morning at 6:30 am we get a wake up call from some girl confirming the appointment for TUESDAY ! Seriously they find it necessary to call that early for the next day appointment ? Ugh! I did say something about it after she finished her speech .. few hours later ... a text from someone different confirming the same appointment ! Okay.. we got it the first time ... Tuesday morning my husband got a text at 6:30am from Luke once again confirming the freaking appointment for 2-5pm for that day... 5:30-6p we're eating dinner realizing he never showed up, NO CALL, NO SHOW !!! After all that bullshit , the wake up call and text, he's a no show! Husband sends him a text saying we waited for him, set time aside , and for what ? A no show , we found it rude and that we were going to talk to the rep at Sam's next time we're there ... His response .... SOUNDS GOOD! So if the sales guys are rude , that just indicates the company either is oblivious to its employees behavior or they don't give a shit... in the end it worked out for us but nonetheless it speaks volumes for Vivint ... sorry to all these people that are stuck with long contracts and shitty ass service .. we'll keep looking else where .. Excellent equipment. When it works, the quality is great. When you have an issue, it's a 45 minute plus phone call to trouble shoot before they send out a technician, unless you want to pay $49.00 for someone to come to your house. I have called and called and called...they don't care. A manager told me I was being "rude" for telling him all the things wrong with their system (and it took me upwards of 20 calls to get a text from him telling me to leave them alone).
