I called a buddy before dinner and told him I wanted something amazing. Not just food--something…read morethat had clearly been thought through and executed well. He rattled off a bunch of options, but none of them sounded right. I found this place on Yelp, saw the reviews, and decided to give it a shot. I'm glad I did. The menu is stripped down to the essentials: three burgers and three side options. Fries, onion rings, or frings. That's it. No giant menu trying to be everything to everyone. Just a team that has clearly decided to focus on doing a few things exceptionally well. The burger was outstanding. The smash patties had an incredible sear. The pickles were sliced paper thin. The lettuce was chopped instead of being a giant leaf hanging out of the bun. The sauce had a familiar Big Mac-style vibe but was clearly their own thing. Every ingredient was there for a reason. What really impressed me was the attention to detail. The temperature contrast between the hot burger and the cool toppings was perfect. The texture and layering of flavors were exactly what they should be. Somebody has spent a lot of time thinking about every component of this burger. The onion rings were hot and crispy. The fries were crispy, salty, and exactly what you want them to be. Nothing felt like an afterthought. The atmosphere fits the food. Simple, confident, and authentic. The staff had their own vibe, the place had personality, and nobody seemed interested in following trends for the sake of trends. They just make great burgers. I've already decided I'm coming back to work my way through the other two burgers on the menu. That's probably the highest compliment I can give a restaurant. If you appreciate craftsmanship and people who have truly studied their craft, this place is worth a visit.

Sophia and I ordered takeout from New Orleans Hamburgers and Seafood for lunch when we landed in…read morethe Westbank after the trek from Virginia. This has been a go-to for us for years every time we came home. And we were very hungry of course so let's see how things went. Once we unpacked and rested for a bit, we went online to check out their menu. For our orders, we usually selected their seafood platters which are reasonably priced. Their drive-thru system is pretty good for pickup orders which can get backed up once in a while. But no worries here for us. My selection was the any two choices platter which were thin fried catfish and soft shell crab. Everything was good and well seasoned. The only setback was they didn't have enough fries in the box. Normally, their to-go orders would have plentiful fries or other sides to your liking. But not this one. Other than that, I was full with my order. We'll continue to use New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood the next time we come home :)

So we went outside of the city and located this place for breakfast that turned into lunch. I wanted to try the King Cake daiquiri but it wasn't frozen enough and what they let me sample tasted terrible. I ordered the two meats or proteins plate with the garlic butter fries and slaw. My two proteins were the thick fried catfish and fried frog legs. Also, the plate comes with two hush puppies. I also got the fried green tomatoes. The fish was fresh and frog legs were fresh and the fried tomatoes were fresh the slaw and hush puppies were crispy and fresh. The service was kind and professional. Service was not long there was confusion one side of restaurant was sit down and the servers take your orders. The other side was place your order at the counter and get a seat/table and the server brings the food to the table. There restaurateurs seemed like family and friends and longtime patrons. We got fountain drinks (sweet tea, soda, water). I recommend if not use to butter garlic fries get it on the side. It was ok for me but my friends didn't like it. It tastes like onion sour cream potato chips.
