Staff was friendly but no one greets you when you walk in. All tables were full when we got there so we just sat down in the waiting area, wait staff just asked who was next when a table came up cleaned. They seemed like they wanted to rush us and definitely understaffed. A table actually walked out and canceled their order while we were there as they said it was as terrible diner not ugly. They just didn't get a good vibe and I agree with it. Waiter was super nice though and doing his best. Food was good. Not sure if I'll go back or not. I think their prices are right. This was a lovely little breakfast diner that seems to be family operated. It's a little & humble diner that you might overlook if you didn't know any better. Some friends recommended it so we stopped by while in the area. We had a slight wait since there aren't many tables, which wasn't a problem. I ordered the veggie omelette which comes with the home potatoes. It was wonderful. Personally, I think it could have used a bit of cracked pepper mixed in with the veggies but still great. My husband ordered the peach cobbler French toast which was good too. We got there a little later, as they close at noon. So they were sold out of the regular French toast bread. They offered it with wheat bread instead, which worked out well too. There was one lady managing all the tables who was very efficient. We will be back the next time we are in the area. I would recommend arriving by mid morning since they close at 12pm. If you are in the area, don't miss going to The Ugly Diner. read more

Well, used to really like this place. Good local breakfast and lunch spot but today they lost my business forever. Went in as a single for breakfast. Sit at a larger table since only open seat. Guy took my order and disappeared. Another waiter asked me to move to a smaller table to make room for a larger party and I responded no problem....and moved . 15 people came in after I ordered...ate....left. Asked my waiter if my food might be coming anytime soon and he said yes. He served food yo 6 more people that came in after me....I left. Guy in the pony tail there should be fired. If you are looking for that food that makes you think of your grandma's cooking, this is it. Not much of a place to look at, which is maybe why they named it what they did. The menu is on the wall and has all your old favorites. I have been wanting to try the chicken fried steak, but I seem to always get the hamburger steak thats covered with mushroom gravy and those mashed potato's and green beans. Quick overall service. Food and service are excellent. We have added to our favorites. The French toast peach cobbler was enjoyed.

I ate breakfast here today and it was amazing. Service was fantastic, friendly, and fast. I loved the 80s decorations and nostalgic feel. Brilliant to have menu on the wall. I had the blue special - two eggs, potatoes, bacon, and a biscuit. I think it was quite possibly the best biscuit I've ever had. will definitely be back to try the biscuits and gravy! read more

It's not pretty inside, but what comes out of the kitchen sure is. Our waitress, Kelly, was fabulous! Efficient with a bit of sarcasm. The food is plentiful and delicious. The menu is on a chalkboard on the wall. Breakfast until 11:00. Then lunch 11:00-2:00 We were there on a Wednesday morning around 10:00. It was busy, but we got the 2 seats at the end of the big table. The coffee is served in all different kinds of mugs, a fun touch! I had shrimp and grits and hubby had the shrimp and crab omelette. The Gouda grits were smooth and delicious. The shrimp and light sauce were very tasty. It was all sprinkled with green onions and bacon bits. It was better than Emeril's! Not much has changed from last year-- unfortunately. Breakfast, which used to end at 11:00, now ends at 10:45, and they are not kidding; a couple walked in at 10:45 on the dot and were told they could not get breakfast. (Starliner and Duck diner both serve breakfast all day). Wait staff seemed harried and hurried. It is clear they don't want you getting too comfortable here. This was formally The Diner and that relocated to the next block just over a year ago at this new location a block away in the strip plaza. I was here in January 2021 and have made several visits here since and am updating as things have gotten even better. The interior has filled out nicely and the service is quicker and more efficient and it's more comfortable without the stupid plastic shields everywhere, enough said about that! The chef made his rounds a couple of times we were there and his attention and check-in were appreciated. there are a couple new items on the menu that look very promising and we shall see. On our most recent visit last week my honey had a cheese veggie omelet, which she thoroughly enjoyed and I, once again, got the country fried steak that was done, maybe a little better than last time, it was hot, fresh, and cooked just right and, once again, the gravy was very good. Bottom line: The Ugly Diner is doing a great job and we will return again soon, no doubt. Recommended! read more

Menu is on the wall with daily specials written in. Wide selection to fit any mood. We had the black and club other and mushroom and Swiss. Perfectly cooked with lot of juice! 2 handed eating!
