I went to Volcano Hot Pot my good friend recently and had a great experience! This site is located in the old Bertucci building adjacent to The Avenue. We were greeted and seated by a friendly host that explained the process to us. We ended up ordering two hot pots and the bbq. To be honest, one hot pot was HUGE & we could've definitely shared that. The soup was hot & pretty spicy (we both had the TomYom soup). The bbq portion was my favorite! We decided upon the garlic shrimp, beef bulgogi and sliced pork. There's a sauce/dip station near the desserts where you can make your own sauces! Also in that area is a mini buffet area that had nuggets, fries, coconut shrimp and other bites. Although we were both pretty full, we left a tiny bit of room for dessert. There were mini sweet treats that were absolutely delectable- not too rich, not overly sweet. They also had ice cream cups, too! All in all, I had a good time! Next time, I would only order one hot pot, or skip it all together for the bbq! It's a fun & interactive experience- great for date night, girl's night out or family time! It's nice to have a hot pot/bbq restaurant on this side of town- try them out for yourself! read more

Before I get into the food, I need to give a shoutout to our server Natthawan! She was amazing throughout our entire service, so friendly, checking in and making sure we were taken care of. Even when some of our dishes did not come out on time, she remained friendly when we asked and checked promptly! Now getting into the food. This spot opened up recently and their grand opening was this past week. The restaurant was pretty clean, as expected. They offer a wide range of meats, sides and hot bar items. The sauce bar is great too as it offers over 15 ingredients to make your ideal sauce! My FAVORITE part is the freezer of thinly shaved meats that are available for you to grab on your own! They have brisket, lamb, chicken and pork. Another surprising factor about their meat selection was their Galbi (short rib). Unlike other AYCE spots, the Galbi was flavorful and had a good meat to fat ratio. Their garlic shrimp was also delicious and the shrimp were huge! Their sago was also very good! Very creamy and slightly sweet. One item I personally did not care for was their drinks. We tried the lychee, mango and peach and it tasted verryyyy watered down and not cold. From the outside, this place looks nice! The streamers and signs were up to celebrate their grand opening. For a Friday night, the wait was 20-30 minutes for 2 people which I found to be pretty good. We went with just the KBBQ option. 7/16-7/22, there's a deal for 20% off all day dinner. At first glance, the grills seemed new. The tables themselves don't look very clean. They also have a buffet section which was not clean. On their website, they advertise corn cheese but we didn't find any there. In fact, the only "appetizer" I saw on the iPad was rice. No steamed eggs or salad as well which is frequent at similar restaurants. Don't get me wrong, they have vegetables but they don't provide kimchi, pickled radish, cucumbers, or anything of the like that I'm accustomed to with a traditional kbbq spot. The buffet section's layout was weird. In the back from left to right, you have one section for sides (wings, dumplings, snow crab legs, corn on the cob, etc..), one section for drinks/ fruit (lychee drink, passion fruit drink, watermelon, etc...), one section for desserts (cubed cakes: chocolate, coconut lemon, etc..), and one section for all the sauces. Every section was missing food, was dirty with sauces or crumbs spilling out, or were missing plates/cups so I couldn't even serve myself. Oh and in the middle of these sections is a freezer with thinly sliced lamb, beef, etc.. for you to self serve which seemed odd to me when there's an option for other meats through the iPad. The freezer also had popsicles and strawberry and vanilla ice cream cups. I was surprised to not see chocolate. Rocket bomb pops were there which was nostalgic! The sides had crispy wings and dumplings. The corn was small but was very juicy and tasty! I have to say, though, all the "warm" buffet foods were rather cold. The fruit/ drink section was random in my opinion. The drinks seemed watered down or just on the lighter side with sugar. Desserts were small and okay. They weren't dry. They were just kinda there. Looks like this place is either missing plates/cups or they're figuring out their sauce system. When I first got sauce, it was a plate with 3 sections so I got multiple. When I went back for a 2nd time, there were just bowls. The sauce section is so messy and a nightmare tbh. The meats that were the most flavorful in my opinion: spicy bulgogi, spicy pork belly, galbi, wagyu. I kept reordering the spicy bulgogi. Their portions are quite small. The wagyu is extra $$$. A staff member dropped it off at our table. I told the waitress that I didn't know what it was because we didn't order it! Our waitress explained what it was and told us to enjoy it, no extra charge. The meats that were mid: pork belly & garlic brisket. The garlic brisket was so mid. Too chewy. The pork belly lacked flavor. The meats that we would not order again: Beef tongue, rib eye. Both had a gamey, metallic flavor. Neither of these cuts are supposed to taste like that which is incredibly strange. The iPad: unsure if there was a stand option. But I don't think there was. There is a strap for your hand but I thought it was annoying to keep going from one thing to another. The staff was attentive!!! They were on it with timing. Our server got us extra napkins and refilled our drinks when necessary. Finally, the fire alarm went off near the end of our dinner. Staff reassured us that there wasn't actually a fire. I guess it got set off by accident. The firetruck did show up. Overall, I would be hesitant to come back to try their hotpot just because things were not as clean or uniform. Their KBBQ experience was not unique. In fact, I think they have missed some of the basics. read more

TLDR: Really solid new AYCE KBBQ and hot pot spot with good quality meat, friendly service, and a setup that makes the whole experience easy. We'll definitely be back. We checked out Volcano Hot Pot & KBBQ during their grand opening week, so it was pretty busy, but everything still ran smoothly. They were doing their ribbon cutting ceremony that day and gave everyone 20% off their meal, which was a nice bonus. The restaurant is really nice inside. Every table has a grill with overhead ventilation, plus built in hot pot burners if you want to do hot pot. Ordering is done on a tablet, but they also have a buffet where you can grab meat, appetizers, veggies, desserts, drinks, and sauces whenever you want. We decided to do just the Korean BBQ this time and pretty much worked our way through all the different meats. Our favorites were the fatty beef brisket, garlic strip steak, spicy squid, and pork belly. Everything tasted fresh and the quality was better than I expected. I also liked that you can grab meat from the buffet while you're waiting for your tablet orders to come out. It keeps food on the grill instead of sitting around waiting for the next round. The hot bar had seafood boil, spring rolls, and a few other fried appetizers that were worth trying too. The tables are a good size for two to four people. Since there's only one grill, I think that's the sweet spot. The staff was friendly the whole time and did a great job keeping the food coming, especially considering how busy they were. This is exactly what the White Marsh area needed. There really hasn't been an all you can eat Korean BBQ and hot pot place in Baltimore County, so it's nice to finally have one nearby. I'm glad we have a hot pot/kbbq spot in the white marsh area! There is parking all around and when you enter it's a spacious venue. We got the hot pot and kbbq experience and got a complimentary plate of Wagyu to start. It was yummy! There is a sauce bar, hot foods bar, cold foods bar, and area to grab frozen hot pot meats yourself in addition to ordering on the tablet. The service here is very nice. The only challenge is that there seem to be lag between the tablet order and food arriving -- it wasn't all at once but rather in batches. The cold foods section also had some cross contamination with spoons which is hard to control but made that area less appealing to take from. Apart from that this was delicious and my family enjoyed their meal. read more

We were in the area and decided to try this new location! The space is vibrant and has a great theme. The lighting and seating are great too. The host was prompt and friendly. Our server was taking a moment and host let us know. The server offered us lunch or dinner saying that the lunch was a lot less in terms of portions and offerings. It would have been helpful to see a menu to know how much less. We went with lunch and had plenty to pick from! The "extra" section like for sauce, desserts, and appetizers was big! I wish the sauce section had bigger and more options for sauce combinations the current sheet had 3 and hard to read. Additionally there was a cooler of meats for hotpot which would have nice to know about before ordering, I was confused why they weren't on the menu. There were also several drinks which is a bonus but half were warm. The cooler they were in wasn't keeping things cold, as well as the dessert cooler. The appetizer were okay, I like the spring rolls! The actual hot pot was excellent the offered a veggie broth and meat broth for the mushroom base, I really liked having the option. The scallops were my favorite in my hotpot. I do wish the server had offered more broth we had to ask as we weren't sure how it worked. The bbq was great however our grill wasn't working very well and after 4 people it finally started to work. This is were I had wished I had known the difference as only 7 meats were offered for lunch. What I did noticed was how fresh everything was. Lastly was dessert, they offered so much including ice cream. I sampled a few and most we delicious. However the cooler being warm definitely didn't improve the mousse! Ive been waiting all year for this location to open up, and its been worth it! They just opened and our experience was great. The service was so attentive and friendly, they walked us through the ordering process and food came out quickly. There were so many options at the self serve hot bar like spring rolls, coconut shrimp, orange chicken, fries, sesame balls, and then also a dessert area and cold area for kimchi, cucumber kimchi, and radishes. Everything felt fresh and clean. We just did the hotpot, and the meat and vegetables were solid. I do wish they had more dumpling options. Since they just opened we got 20% off the bill and a free volcano plushy! So cute. We will definitely be back soon. read more

I've been to several KPOT locations, as well as another Volcano Hot Pot location, and unfortunately I don't think I'll be returning to this one. The biggest disappointment was the food. The Szechuan spicy soup base tasted bland and wasn't very spicy, especially compared to other KPOT and Volcano locations I've visited. My girlfriend felt the same way about her Tom Yum soup base, saying it lacked the flavor she's used to. The booth seating also felt awkward. I'm 6'3", and I felt like I was sitting unusually far from the table. I actually had to sit closer to the end of the booth just to comfortably reach everything. Another issue was the napkins. Hot pot and Korean BBQ can get messy, so having to repeatedly ask for more napkins--and only receiving four at a time--became frustrating throughout the meal. Lastly, the grill didn't seem to get hot enough. It was difficult to get a good sear or crisp on the meat, which took away from the overall BBQ experience. Overall, this location just didn't live up to the quality and experience I've had at other KPOT and Volcano restaurants. read more

I was finally was able to come in yesterday. I have to say I'm extremely disappointed. I'm disabled and can't use the tongs or scissors so I needed help cooking n such. The waiter let my food burn. It wasn't that busy either. Your buffet section was highly lacking. And the menu thing was hard to figure out. The rice was very dry and I couldn't swallow it so I had to spit it out. The meats were low quality compared to Iron Age in Catonsville. But yet it cost more at your establishment. I came with a friend and he had never been to Hot Pot/KBBQ before and I was sad that this had to be his first experience. As of right now I have to say I will not be back. read more

Finally got a kbbq and hotpot spot in white marsh. At $35 for both kbbq and soup this is more affordable than local competitors without compromising quality. Meat was fresh and the side bar had plenty of options including snow crabs and free fruit tea. Our server, Keith, was excellent and quick, checking on our table often. Place was clean and the decor was modern, making this place great for both a date spot or just family dinner. Would 100% recommend this place and I'm happy I no longer have to drive down to ellicot city to get good kbbq!! read more

I've been waiting for this to open since 2024 and it was incredibly disappointing. We came around 5 on a Friday during their grand opening event and only waited about 15 mins. They don't seem to have text automation to notify waiting parties that their table is ready. Something to keep in mind if the wait is long and you maybe want to walk around the avenue. The tables were fine, very spacious for two people. The booth seating felt weird, though. I'm 5'11 and felt hunched forward most of the time because of how far the seats were from the table. The wait staff was friendly, attentive and always be around to make sure guests were taken care of. We started at the buffet area and were rather underwhelmed. I grabbed some cold gyoza, spring rolls, and fried chicken wings from the hot foods table. They had decent flavor despite the temperature. There was not much else to select from here. The sauce bar was pretty dirty, but there were lots of options. I'm pretty plain and enjoy the regular ol' kbbq sauce and sesame oil with salt, the 15+ options they had just seemed a little too much. There was also a refrigerated shelf with fruit, juices, and seafood. I only tried a passion fruit juice which was extremely watered down. In my opinion, this entire self serve area at these types of restaurants takes away the whole kbbq/hotpot experience. The appetizers section on the iPad was pathetic. Firstly, how does a KOREAN BBQ restaurant not serve KIMCHI? The menu literally only listed rice as an appetizer. It was dry upon arrival. No corn cheese, despite it being advertised. Again, NO KIMCHI? We only did KBBQ, and only about half of the meat were decent. Heres how I would rate the meats that we tried: - Spicy bulgogi: good, this is a tried and true and honestly kind of hard to screw up. Multiple orders for us, because the portion sizes were so small. - Spicy pork belly/regular pork belly: see above. These were pretty good, too, and ordered multiple. You get about 3 long strips per order. - Garlic Brisket: this was just ok. Really chewy and flavorless. Would maybe give it another shot. - Beef tongue: this was gross. Extremely chewy and had a gamey/metallic flavor. Shouldn't taste this way at all. - Ribeye: just ok. Came in three little cuts so the portion was a surprise. Tender, but again had an unusual gamey/metallic flavor that just left the whole thing off. - Beef galbi (short rib): pretty big portion/cuts on these. Had good flavor and the meat was tender, easy to eat around the bone. - Wagyu: pretty good, not too much marbling like good cuts but it did the job. It's extra $$ and was given to us as a mistake, so we were not charged for it. All in all, the main course was super disappointing. It makes me wish we had tried the hotpot with how bad it was. The IPad assigned to our table stopped working toward the end. It completely disconnected from the WiFi required for their ordering app. Beforehand, we had placed one last order of spicy bulgogi, that never came, and we just decided to get dessert and call it. Dessert was the highlight, even with how basic it was. The self serve freezer had strawberry and vanilla ice cream cups (no chocolate which is kind of an L) and rocket bomb pops (the nostalgia hit). The tiny cakes in the refrigerator looked pretty good, but were a little dry. Also the fire alarm randomly went off at one point? Unfortunately, this place has been one of, if not, the worst kbbq experience I've ever had. It seems like they're still figuring things out which is understandable for how new the franchise is. The only appeal to trying this again would be for the hotpot, but I'd rather just drive to Ellicott City for this cuisine in the future. read more
