My family and I had an amazing experience at Voltaire. My wife and I took my father-in-law and our son there to pick out an electric bike. Elvira and Denis helped my father-in-law find the perfect bike. They knew which models would be best for his size and our intended use. We wanted a bike that he was comfortable on and could handle taking our toddler along. They had a beautiful folding bike with a strong rear rack that was perfect for mounting attachments. Elvira explained all the features and answered all of our questions. My father-in-law then when on a test ride and fell in love with the bike. They also had all the extras we could want such as the perfect child seat for our little guy, a special model specific seat with shock absorbers, a rear view mirror, and the coolest folding bike lock I have ever seen. Denis installed all of our extras on the bike before we even finished checking out. I have not been to a family owned shop operated by knowledgeable experts in a long time. Can't recommend this place enough. We look forward to when we bring the bike in for it's future tune ups. read more

I bought my bike on Amazon originally and went to Denis for additions and repairs like mud guards. He can help with installing new items bought online, or repairing issues that are common from intensive mountain biking. I haaaaate to complain because I'm a nice person and all my post are mostly positive but i have to speak my experience. My brakes were both shot so i made an appointment for new brakes and brought my bike in. The guy that took care of me was very nice and did everything i asked for. I walked our happy. Forward to 4 weeks later. The back brakes were useless. I called on a Monday and the phone message said they were closed because of no air conditioning. They happened to be open and i was in the area so i stopped in. Big mistake because the person in there didn't want to work.He had no idea who i was and fake checked in the computer and had no record of me ever being there even though i gave him exact details. I took my bike and left furious. I spent $150.and don't expect a prize just my money's worth. I'll never go there again even if i have to drag my feet on the ground for brakes. read more

I had an serious problem with the front brakes on my BH EasyMotion e-bike. Having purchased it at Voltaire, I called and Denis suggested to bring it right in. While we waited, Denis did a fabulous job repairing my e-bike and even upgrading my front brake a higher level replacement. I agree with the other reviewers. The staff is very helpful during the sale but the follow-up and customer care stinks. I have tried email since their web site say they have basically shut the phone off. You never see the owner just the guys that work there. Something is definitely off with the way they run their business. Given inventory supplies are low everywhere I understand that they may have trouble keeping up, but that is no excuse for poor customer service. I would look at other places like the other reviewer did (going to PA). They are benefiting from the current (COVID) demand and can get away with the poor service, but once that slows down so will their business. read more

When I was sold the bike, I was told of a great warranty, which gave me reassurance about my purchase. I reached out to BH with my information and bike details to start the warranty process. After a month, I reached out to Justin because I did not hear anything from BH Europe and he said, "BH Europe wouldn't respond to that warranty info submission, so no need to worry on that part." I took Justin at his word. Out of curiosity, I reached out to BH Europe again to confirm my warranty activation. Here is there response: Dear customer, Thank you for your email. We are sorry to inform you that BH EUROPE does not activate the lifetime warranty for bikes sold in North America by BH USA. Best regards, BH Bikes Europe I put 1200 miles on my BH Easy Motion. It was my daily commuter. Had something happened, I would have been screwed. The shop sold me this bike because they wanted to get rid of it. Does anybody knows what is going on with Electric Spokes? I have been trying to contact them for days (phone and email) and I can not get pass all the pre-recorded voice messages. I purchased a eBike and I can not seem to get an update. Oh yes, paid up front. I added 2 more stars today and would like to share the following: Derek did improve his customer support. He was very responsive and communicated clearly the situation with the bicycle I placed the purchase order for. However, I'm not sure if that was a result of my writing directly to the Voltaire Franchise or because he finally got to my order. Anyhow, I picked up my eBike. It was what I expected. Both, the product and the support provided at the store. Electric spoke has it all. Good products, and excellent prices. I just happened to have a hard time communicating with them otherwise, I would have given them one more star. read more

OMG, Stay away! On Sept 15th, went there to look at e-bikes, the person who took care of us was extremely helpful, Nick, I liked a bike, but they had nothing for my wife in stock. We were told to come back next Tuesday they will have a bike there for her, i explained we were leaving for vacation, but will cut it short and come back for the bike. If she likes the bike, we'll take them both, along with a bike rack. Nick and Justin both said there was a $500 Labor Day sale and he will honor it, because it was still posted on line. So now its two weeks later, on Tuesday, and they had a bike for my wife, but the bike I liked was sold, but would have one for me on Saturday, Frustrated, but said ok, ready to but deposit down, when Justin said he will not honor the $500 rebate because too much time had passed. We left in total disappointment. What adds to all this is, after trying many times to contact Nick, he refused to answer any texts, or phone calls. On our way out the door, Justin said that our leaving was no problem because they would most likely have the bikes sold by the weekend anyway. We subsequently purchased two bikes and the carrier from another dealer, (drove all the way to Lancaster, PA to purchase from another Magnum dealer). High end bike shop with lots of recumbent trikes for adults and a wide variety of other bikes for kids and adults. They also have every accessory you can think of in the shop. Have a cup of coffee, a bottle of water and design the bike of your dreams.. That is what I did and it didn't cost an arm and a leg. I am a partially disabled over 50 woman who needs to get back to better fitness and an adult trike is the way for me to go forward. I pedaled today for three miles-- after not for almost 4 years. My buying experience was a-1 with both owners of the shop. They were friendly, extremely knowledgeable and very fair on the pricing. They custom made my bike and I could not be happier. They respond quickly to phone calls and text messages and you can set up a page with them on their website to stay in touch. it was a very pleasant buying experience. I have the rover and one day I will get back into a Catrike and to some serious riding but for today I am grateful for this slick functional no frills didn't break my bank recumbent trike. So happy there is a good quality bent Shop close to Hudson County otherwise I would have had to go to their sister shop in Hamilton NJ. I wish this business every success. I called Voltaire Cycles in Verona to see if they could take a look at my BH ebike. It was an BH dealer before but apparently wasn't now. I gave him a call to see if he would take a look at it. He said to bring it in. It was a 40 minute drive. When I got there he apparently just turned it on and told me it was the battery causing the problem and told me to record what level it was in when I had a problem. I have 2 batteries And the problem was the same with both. He didn't even want to have me leave it so he could look at it. Wound up taking it back home. Another customer came in and he just ignored me. I left totally annoyed! He had told my brother the company went out of business even though they still make bikes just not in the US. Wasted my day off. Don't know about you but I certainly wouldn't buy a bike there. read more

Derek, the owner, is a great guy. However, his staff is virtually void of customer service training. Originally tried calling/emailing to inquire about service for my street scooter and none of my messages were returned. Finally just went down in person. Was told 2-3 days. Wound up taking close to 10. Was not given a single update by the store. Had to constantly stay on top of them. Was even told it would be ready "tomorrow" - went down there and was told it would be another day. Wasted trip. They butchered the repair and even left the plate on the bottom off, which is now gone. Derek was very nice and refunded partial payment, but, stupid me, wanting to give them another chance to do better, I reached out to him personally three times and no response. #Done. If I could give a negative number of stars I would. I brought my bike in for service explaining a problem where the electric cuts out sporadically. After one week I was told that a tune up was done and I could pick up my bike. After explaining the problem again I was assured that the problem would be looked into. I attempted to call service several times over the next 12 weeks, finally I received a call back stating that my bike was ready to be picked up, that they had done a tune up. After three months the problem was never looked into, never resolved. I was given a 20% discount on that tuneup but still can't use the bike. When I went to pick up my bike I had to wait a half hour while it was retrieved from a storage facility. I honestly don't think anyone ever looked at the bike or ever did a tuneup. I feel scammed and dismissed. This is a bike shop I will never go back to. read more

Update:After not hearing from the company ,I asked for a refund and they immediately obliged!I was feeling uneasy about a company that wouldn't honor what they advertised and I'm glad I changed my mind.After diving in deeper and reading some of the reviews posted here and on google I think I made the right decision. So far the jury is still out for me on this company.The drama started yesterday after I ordered the boosted rev scooter from their website.They are a small company, offer Affirm financing, and as of today at 11:23 am est time ,the description states " for a limited time,,we offer free shipping +choice of ABUS or THOUSAND helmet." Great! I was thrilled with the extra options so I purchased the scooter.I was charged $20.27 for priority mail which I was fine with but a few hrs after the purchase I was informed that when I went to check out they were in the middle of updating their boosted rev inventory and shipping policy so I wasn't charged the correct shipping which was $65 which included mandatory hazmat certification. I sent them an email about the promotion and tried to call them with no luck.I also received an email this morning asking me if it was possible that I had visited the website last November in which that promotion had been offered.I sent him and the owner later a few screenshots with the promotion still displayed.The clerk offered me a coupon for 20% off a helmet.Later I received an email from one of the owners thanking me for my purchase, "We work hard to make our customers happy, so if you have any feedback, or want to say hi, please reply to this email.We'd love to hear from you!".Not only did I reply but sent a pic of my ipad displaying their current promotion.I haven't heard a word from them.It's disappointing, to say the least that they are not honoring their promotion.I did try to reach out to them several times by phone with no luck but they were quick to reply when they needed more money for shipping.I'm excited to get the scooter and will update my review if anything changes. read more

Ok. The jury is still out but I am very apprehensive. I called the store yesterday and spoke with Dave. I ordered an electric bike for$1,500 based on his representation that if it wasn't in stock the store would be getting a delivery in a 2-3 day window and that there were no unusual delays as I expressed my eagerness for a quick, stocked item. Today, I received a confirming email that it may be 2 weeks or more. I called and spoke with Jennifer who advised Dave wasn't in the store and that everything is backed up and could offer no definitive timeframe for delivery. I am livid at what appears to be deceitful misrepresentation. If what she told me is inaccurate, then I will so advise. For now, I am waiting for a promised return phone call before I determine whether I should notify my credit card company. In these precarious times, one should operate with integrity and candor. If there are unusually long delays and uncertainty because of the Covid19 pandemic, tell the customer upfront and let her/him then make a decision accordingly before ordering. Do not prey on people's vulnerabilities. Waiting to see what happens next. I will follow up on this site with either a good or bad resolution. read more

I went into electric spokes to learn more about e-bikes and how I could learn to ride one since I live in Brooklyn and biking there is a big deal. Everything about Electric Spokes is first rate. Derek and Mark are the consummate professionals. They are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the world of electric bicycles (and cycles in general) down to every last detail; they're interested in getting to know you as a real person to fit you with what you need without overselling bikes or accessories merely to make a quick buck; they're warm, funny, and extremely receptive to any and all questions whether at the shop, by email or on the phone; and, they're very fair and more than reasonable in terms of pricing. I was unfamiliar with electric bikes and Derek spent hours patiently educating me and then helping to fit me with an appropriate bike. I never felt any pressure to buy anything or to upgrade to a more expensive bike at any time. If anything, he encouraged me to look below my budget to see if a particular bike that I hadn't considered would work for me. And once I decided to purchase a bike, both Derek and Mark worked very hard to make every adjustment under the sun to make sure I was, and continue to be, comfortable and happy. I consider Derek and Mark friends because that's how I was made to feel from the first day I entered their store. They're amazingly knowledgeable, extremely friendly and kind, and very caring. I've never seen business owners take more pride in making their customers happy and in working so hard to be sure of it. I can't recommend Electric Spokes highly enough. Buyer Beware- it is a lovely store with lots of pretty bikes. I bought one and spent over $3200. The bike took off with me on it. I brought my husband into the store. Derek said the controller doesn't work in humidity. (I guess it is an Arizona bike). They refunded the bike, BUT REFUSED TO RETURN MY TAX MONEY. Obviously, this is illegal. I took the high road and returned the power cord, etc. I called one last time- Mark hung up on me. I strongly advise you to deal with folks who are sure they are going to be around tomorrow. I saw a Rans bike for sale on his website ,which is a hard bike to find in this area,at a reasonable price,so I called and spoke to a rep of Electric spokes and expressed my intent to purchase said bike.I received a call back from Mark the owner of Electric Spokes who told me that the bike was at his other location,and he was attending a convention in Las Vegas at the end of the week and would not be able to get my bike to his location until the following week.Despite my assertion that I would be willing to drive as far as needed to pick up this bike,he insisted he would have the bike in his shop next weekThe following weekI callled both his cell number and Electric spokes number several times and left messages but received no response.At the very least I would expect a reputable businessman to call me back and explain why he could not deliver my bike.I did not give him any deposit so thankfully was not out any cash but this is no way to do business. read more
