I own a 2016 Volvo XC90. Over the last two months, I've brought my car to Volvo Car Seattle five times because it keeps displaying a turtle message. Each visit, they've replaced something different--spark plugs, then spark plugs again, then a coil, then a fuel injector--but the problem persists. They simply plug in a diagnostic device, read the error code, and fix the bare minimum without identifying the actual root cause. I've repeatedly asked them to do a test drive and investigate properly, but they won't. It's clear they lack either the capability or the incentive to truly diagnose the issue. I've spent thousands of dollars and lost countless hours dropping off and picking up the car. They've also reduced their loaner fleet, so I'm forced to rent a vehicle each time. If you value your time and money, I cannot recommend this dealership. A proper diagnostic should trace problems back to their source, not just treat symptoms. This was my first visit to THIS Volvo dealership, and I have to say, I am truly impressed! Booked my service appointment via the Volvo app, with the first appointment being 1015am. I work night shift so was hoping to drop off the car closer to 8am after my shift. Reached out to the dealership and was welcomed to drop the car off early! I am preparing for a long haul road trip across the US for christmas, so I dropped off the car for the recommended maintenance package. Kylar was super accommodating and helpful and the entire process was SO smooth! After dropping off the car, I spoke with Kylar about my schedule and plans and everyone was super accommodating! Not only that, but I found out at the last minute that my warrantee coverage for new breaks was not covered....now this seems like a huge inconvenience, BUT when I picked up the car I was informed that the service manager had approved a 1 time courtesy replacement! The sales person I worked with was very nice, and somewhat knowledgeable. I asked how I could pay a deposit and put in my order on the car, they said to email one of the managers. I send him an email, no response. I reply to the canned text message asking who else I can email, they give me another name. I email them. No response for four days. I reply back to THAT with my build and ask how I can pay the deposit. It's been another three days, and no response. I recently purchased a vehicle from Volvo Seattle, and within a very short time, major parts failed -- things that shouldn't fail until well past 100,000 miles. My car only had 20,000 miles when I bought it. After having multiple certified mechanics inspect it, every one of them confirmed the same thing: the car must have been in an accident or previously damaged, and the issues were clearly present before I bought it. This means it was fraudulently sold as being in good condition. I've contacted the dealership and asked them to take accountability, since these problems could not have developed in normal use and clearly indicate concealed damage. The manager, Andre, was supposed to call me back, and hasn't followed up. If you're thinking about buying from this lot -- be careful. Get an independent inspection first and don't believe the information they provide. I'm giving the dealership one more opportunity to make this right before I pursue further action. read more

do not buy an extended warranty from here. they do not tell you and leave it for the fine print, but every time you need work done it has to be released from Volvo due to a "tie back". they find it's acceptable to not respond to emails or phone calls for over three months, not releasing your car even though it's a Subaru and they would not do work on it as Volvo. it is unacceptable to be waiting for over three months to have your car issue addressed, slimy, dishonest to conduct business this way. read more

I was ready to purchase and was told that I would get a call back with an estimate of the final sales price. I waited - no response. I called back and and got a text stating that he was busy and he sent over a purchase estimate. I asked him to call me back so that we can close the deal. He never responded. I called back and asked to speak with someone else who stated that they would help me with the purchase. I was put on hold and then told the car was already sold. I asked to speak with the manager. I'm sharing my experience so others don't fall into the same situation. In 2023, I bought a used 2018 Honda CR-V from this dealership while I was pregnant, and looking for a safe, reliable car for my growing family. I trusted the team to guide me fairly -- but looking back, it's clear they took advantage of me during a vulnerable time. They sold me the car of $24,625 plus all the fees and some PWC SERVICES that i never used them -- without properly explaining the details or giving me a chance to truly understand what I was agreeing to, so I ended up with a $31,000, which was way above the market value, and pushed me into a $0 down payment. The loan ended up being nearly $40,000 at 7.24% interest for a 5-year-old car -- with monthly payments of $545 for 6 years. I later found out that one of those expensive warranties expired without me ever using it, and now I'm stuck with a high loan on a car that's only worth half of what I paid. At that time, I was visibly pregnant, emotional, and overwhelmed -- and they showed no compassion or honesty. I believe ethical dealerships should take care to explain everything clearly, especially when a customer is clearly in a vulnerable state. Instead, I felt like I was misled and pressured into a bad deal. I take responsibility for not knowing more at the time, but it doesn't excuse their lack of transparency and empathy. Couldn't get name or phone number right for about 10 minutes- transposing numbers, reading back totally different name, et. I asked him to please shuttle her back to train after visit. He tried to bait and switch me to a car that was $4k more than the original one that I was looking at, I talked to someone 30 minutes before telling them that i was going to be early and 10 minutes before i got there he called me and said that it sold. I literally sell cars and know that if someone is doing paperwork you let someone know especially if they are driving more than an hour to your location. I appreciated that Chris was able to answer some questions on the phone before I swung by. I came prepared and well researched on the car I wanted and the current market conditions, and I still had to advocate for a deal that I was comfortable with, but they listened and worked with me. Car sales is what it is, there was still a little dance to be had, but I felt it was pretty amenable here. I arrived at the service desk first thing on Tuesday morning, no appointment, and very concerned. I usually wouldn't go out of the way to write a negative review for a business; however, I feel it is the only recourse for the level of inconvenience they caused my wife and I last Friday. Months ago, my wife inquired about getting a 4G upgrade to our XC90's computer. We were aware that the 3G service was being disconnected and that the 4G upgrade was coming. My wife continued to call for service availability until she was told that they could schedule the service. She then set a date after the holidays and was quoted ~$500 for the upgrade. She intentionally set the time/date for the appointment for a Friday as we live 4 hours from the dealership and I would miss a day of work to take it. A day prior to the appointment she called to verify the appointment and what the expected wait time would be while it was being done. There was no indication of any issues getting the service completed. We got up early and drove straight to the service center and arrived 20 minutes early. As soon as I walked through the door and gave our name as was greeted with the question, "What did they quote you for the 4G upgrade?" I answered, "about $500. Why are you going to change it?" He quickly said that the part alone was $800, and the total upgrade was actually $2400. I then told him I needed to verify what my wife was told and that's when he continued by saying that we couldn't even do that because Volvo hasn't even released the parts for installation yet. Naturally, I was negatively surprised, and then when I questioned how we even got to this point. That was followed with a shoulder shrug and half-apology discussing the ignorance of some other employee who didn't understand what the service actually was. That's right. It's akin to watching a political debate. There is so much double talk, my head spins like Linda Blair's in the Exorcist. It was so bad this time around, I simply decided to hang on to my current automobile. It was just an easier proposition. The closest I came to an actual purchase was because of Austin. He understood my needs, and tried to accommodate me as best he could. His interaction made Volvo cars loom higher than BMW, Audi, or Mercedes. That may be a dumb reason to choose one car manufacturer over another, but so be it. Volvo of Seattle hopefully appreciates how Austin can influence a potential customer. He is a salesman, but Austin is also a spokesperson for Volvo and this particular dealership. I also liked the intimacy of Volvo Seattle compared to the mega dealerships that abound. This practice is predatory and is why the auto dealer franchise model should not be enshrined into state law. We came in on a Saturday, did a contract, and left all our info. After traveling 5 hours from across the state, my wife and I traded in our Highlander for an XC40 Recharge. When we finally settled on the right vehicle, the day was ending so we waited until the next day to finalize the sale. On the next day, the paperwork was issued for the wrong VIN - something that wouldn't have been addressed had i not done a full review before driving off the lot. Furthermore the car was not fully working, requiring an hour of shop time, nor fully charged, as I had asked them to do the night before. After a month passed, we had received no financing documentation from the lender to make payments. Trying to get a response from the dealer was impossible - 4 calls over 3 days were left unreturned as we grew increasingly concerned. It took intervention from Volvo Corporate for someone to finally answer our question - and assure us that the first month was paid at purchase, and I would receive the paperwork shortly. Except it wasn't okay. A month later, we still hadn't received the registration for our car, which was due to expire in a week. Our local licensing office couldn't extend the registration. 4 more calls over 3 days, and still no calls were returned (including to the county auditor's office!). Finally, a finance manager called asking us to resign the financing contract, indicating it was done incorrectly. He was unaware of the many other calls I had placed. While finally having a manager on the phone, i indicated i needed a new and final registration, as Washington law requires titling of a vehicle within 45 days of sale. On both phone and via an email message, I indicated I needed a registration so I could legally drive the car. An initial attempts to resign the revised paperwork (because of the dealer's mistake) failed because the manager couldn't properly use docusign. I returned the financing agreement he wanted signed, but he then never replied again. After setting a deadline of end of business the next day -- and having communicated the same via phone and email - I received no response. I will have to drive 5 hours to Seattle next week to get this resolved. I can't recommend this dealer. After my experience I have no confidence in their competence or ability to do their job. read more

They advertise upon approval your vehicle will be delivered within two weeks time. I received an initial call that my vehicle had arrived and was getting checked out before I could receive. I had a unique situation and needed the car quickly and when I called I was helped by Austin Davenport and he was very helpful and delivered my car exactly when I needed it. I wish I could say I had a great experience @ Volvo Cars of Seattle but this was definitely not the case. So my mom was in an accident last week (she's ok) and her car was unfortunately totaled. The car she drove was a full size sedan but wanted to get something bigger since she carpools two little grandkids. I originally called 1st sales guy and got great service until he said he would call me back the next day to confirm possession of the vehicles. Never got a call back (day of test drive) I called the dealership and to much "luck" I spoke with Joel. So this guy (Joel) clearly needs some much needed sales training one on one!! I tried to get in touch with the 1st sales guy but Joel clearly wanted to steal his sale (not cool) but continued my original conversation to see if the cars are available for test drive. So I started to help him and instead of giving him year, make, model & miles I decided to just give him stock numbers. Once I got to the 3rd stock number he asked how many cars would you like to see? I informed him once again we had no clue on what my mom likes (1st day car shopping) and if we could just continue we can even eliminate the cars that are not available. To my shock he replied with I RAN OUT OF PAPER and was reluctant to find more!! Asked to speak to the GM but he said he wasn't available and directed me to the internet sales Pete Reilly. Once Pete got on the phone and got a full understanding he apologized for dropping the ball with (Joel's lack of customer service & understanding of the SALES concept) and turned the conversation to a productive sales leading car purchase! Unfortunately the numbers didn't line up for both parties and we were unable to purchase the car. Overall my experience was less then good and would be confident if Joel wouldn't have picked up my call I probably would have gave them ONE more star (the car we test drove was so dirty)!! Navid, on numerous occasions, has advocated for us, on our behalf, to the Volvo mechanics (not that they really ever need coercing) and to Volvo America. His advice is frank and accurate. He is always looking out for what is best for us, and not just the dealership or Volvo. Sales: We purchased our most recent XC90 with Nick, and our Finance person was Jeff. Nick was absolutely amazing... not only patient but thorough, and all of this in the time of Covid. He talked us through every detail of the cars we were interested in, answered all of our questions --honestly-- about features, reliability, service issues and myriad other topics. When I couldn't decide on which color I wanted, he did the hard work of finding examples in each color, as well as researching which colors were available in our desired trim and feature set. What was really amazing, and something that sets VCSea apart: When I wanted to be absolutely sure I was picking the right car, there was ZERO issue with my walking off the lot after our 2nd set of test drives and going down the street to a dealer of another vehicle I was looking at as an alternative. Who does that!?! We bought the car. We met Hans and had a great time geeking out over the Volvo brand. In the beginning I had a good experience working with the folks at Volvo Care Seattle. Obviously before you purchase a car the salespeople treat you very well in the hopes you will buy from them. My issue was after the sales of Pre-Owned car from this dealer. The car ended up having a very serious roof leak when it rained and this was only discovered after a few weeks of driving off the lot. I had hoped due to the Volvo brand and professionalism one would expect from this dealer they would make it right but in the end they did nothing to help me solve this issue. They offered to "buy" the vehicle back and in turn sell me a different car but the cost was much higher so I really wasn't a good solution. There was no offer of looking into the issue or saying they would help fix it. I was basically told sorry you bought it we have nothing to do with it. I would encourage anyone looking to work with a reputable dealer to look elsewhere. They could have had a lifelong customer and someone who would have referred them business. I sincerely hope those that read this review will spend their hard earned money at a dealer who cares about their customers even after they purchase from them. We have a Volvo XC60 that has had some recurring problems, particularly with the heater not working, since the beginning when we bought it. We have taken it multiple trips to service and gotten no help -- they repeatedly say that they cannot locate the problem. Originally we also reached out to Sales since it was close to when we bought the car, and the guy basically shrugged and said we needed to work through service. On top of this, on multiple occasions I have tried to order things through the parts department only to have something go wrong with the order. On the last one, they assured me that the part would come in before a certain date (which was super important because that was when I was leaving town). The person took my name for the order and said they would call me when the part was in. On the last day possible, I still had not heard from them, so I called -- the person explained that the part was on backorder so I wouldn't be getting it that day. This was after MULTIPLE assurances that it would be there on time, and in addition, apparently he made no effort to contact me to let me know it was backordered. We like the car overall, but from Sales to Service to Parts, we have had truly pathetic service end to end from this dealership. read more

The inside was dirty with dog hair and paw prints on the panels in the back. Also there were marks on the battery that shows it was jumped. Thay gave us a out the door price. Of 37000. We said that was 4000 to high want can you do? Thay only dropped the price by 1000. They tried to show us numbers on what the car sold for but my wife and I know better. After looking at kelly blue book yes they could have come down more. Just because they are in SEATTLE thay don't need to jack up the price. One more thing. Tuesday, the day the used car was listed online I immediately contacted the dealership. An hour later I received a text response from Travis who said the vehicle was not ready yet and it was still in pre-inspection and they were still working up the price. He said he alerted the sales manager of my strong interest and would update me when the vehicle was ready so it wouldn't slip through the cracks. I was then turned to Brian B who emailed me photos of the car and took over the conversation. Seemed promising. Two days go by and not a word, Travis now ignores my texts, yet the dealership and CarGurus sites have been updated with photos and a price. I make contact with Brian again and we start conversing about my trade, putting a holding deposit down, and working the numbers. In any NORMAL scenario this would be considered a pending deal as the sales manager was now involved and numbers were being made. No other offers should be accepted. I actually once worked for one the largest auto dealers in the PNW, so I know the process, and yes, some of the tricks. Friday comes and I'm told I can hold the vehicle for a small refundable downpayment. Cool, no problem. Then a bit more back and forth about my trade and trying to make the numbers work. I tried to make an appointment to do a test drive and was told the vehicle was still in pre-inspection and couldn't be driven until Monday, fine. Saturday comes there's a little more back and forth in the morning about making the numbers work. Then everything gets SHADY. I was emailed a distorted picture of nothing and am told there's a problem with the vehicle inspection that could make me not want the vehicle, but no description. I asked to resend the photo and tell me what the issue was. No response, he had all day to answer a simple question! So basically this is their way of saying they found a better deal to sell the car out from under me to another customer. How absurd and rude, they must think I'm an idiot. Sunday comes and they say, oh sorry we sold the car yesterday (while they were ignoring my inquiries), even though they said it wouldn't be ready until Monday for the public. Only thing missing from this joke of a deal was a bait and switch. Why even waste my time?! This is the kind of BS sales experience that gives auto dealerships the BAD TASTE and rap people often expect. Shady tactics are alive and well at Volvo Seattle. Certainly a one star experience.
