Po' Boy made with oyster mushrooms! Omg! This was absolutely incredible. The sauce perfectly compliments the Cajun flavor!

This truck is VOODOO alright! I've eaten here a few times and it is always amazing. The problem is that I can't try new things because I'm hooked on the po' boy sandwich and the Mac. Even took some to go for my friend and she loved it! Make sure to follow them on IG for events and notifications of sellouts. I've had issues with their kiosk being glitchy but a staff member has always been nice enough to help. There was some confusion with my food going to someone else but they fixed the issue promptly. I absolutely love the food from this truck and look forward to grabbing something from them the next time I'm at Vegan Exchange in NOHO!

Mmm mmm good! Found Voodoo Vegan on instagram and have been following them for a while. They recently posted photos of their hot honey oyster mushrooms so I had to try! Saw they'd be in Long Beach at the Trademark Brewing - a cool brewery with outdoor beer garden - so I took the trek to find them and I'm so glad I did! Tried the hot honey oyster mushrooms and the voodoo Mac and cheese. Hunni, let me tell you, both were slammin! H the ode hot honey oyster mushrooms were freakin delicious! Fried to perfection and glazed with the hot honey which was both sweet and spicy... yes please! And the Mac was delicious... only wish the portion was a lil larger. The prices were kind of high but probably on par with most food trucks - not exactly sure. We paid about $42 for the oyster mushrooms and the Mac but it was worth it! Food took about 15 mins and the staff and owner was extremely nice! Welcoming, friendly and flexible with the menu. I'll be catching them again soon and I think you should too! You've gotta try these hot honeys!!! Thank me later!

My friend and I tried this truck at SoCal VegFest 2023, which was a couple months ago now, and I'm still thinking about their Who Dat?! Mac. This was the one item at the whole event that both of us gravitated to, and our gut didn't lead us astray. You don't miss anything with this vegan mac. It is packed with amazing Cajun flavor, savory cheesiness, and satisfying crunch. We added all the protein and toppings, and honestly, that was probably the most convincing vegan shrimp I've had. Also the girls staffing the truck were the sweetest. Would be a regular if only I lived closer!

They had the best faux catfish basket! They made those oyster mushrooms taste just like catfish with perfect breading too!! I liked the food so much, I would eat here everyday if I could...

Voodoo Vegan has been on my list of places to try for a WHILE so when I saw they'd be at Vegan Playground on a night I had free, I got dressed and headed out! And I really want to give them 5 stars, but based on this first experience, I cannot. Let's start with the good: They are clearly popular as I arrived not even an hour into the event and they had the longest line... but not the longest wait which I loved! Ordering was easy and the staff was friendly. THE SHRIMP PO'BOY IS DELICIOUS, YALL!!!! I love po'boys and every vegan one I've had up until now has let me down. The bread is incredible, the inside is flavorful, and the portion is generous. Loved it. Now for the not-so-good: The main reason I wanted to try this spot was for their vegan mac 'n cheese. I didn't enjoy this one. I think there's a difference between heat and flavor. This mac had heat but not a lot of flavor and definitely not a lot of cheese vibes going on. This was very disappointing. Also, I understand inflation is wrecking all of us right now, but these prices felt a bit steep! I'm the first one to step up to support a black owned business, it was just a bit much tn, regarding the cost. Overall: I will be back to try other things... maybe one thing at a time at these prices.

Our "Seafood Platter" with extra $5 shrimp.

Shady business practices! I went with my partner and a couple friends to the Vegan Exchange in North Hollywood. We had to order our food on a tablet in front of the truck (probably so it's easier for them to pull a quick one on people and hide in the kitchen). We ordered the "Seafood Platter" for $13. The tablet then prompted us with a REQUIREMENT to add an extra $5 to our "Seafood Platter" for shrimp. When we got our order, it was just fries, a slice of bread, coleslaw, and four shrimp. This is not a Seafood Platter. Was the $13 just for fries, coleslaw, and bread? When I brought this concern up to the lady at the pickup window, I was greeted with immediate hostility and defensiveness, so I'm sure this is not their first time having a customer call them out on their unethical business practices. In hindsight, I believe my $1 tip was overly generous. We will not be coming back, and I plan to contact the coordinator of the Vegan Exchange event regarding this incident.

    $50 for just "ok" food

I gotta be honest, I was SO excited to try this and was SO let down.. I tried the Voodoo Vegan food truck at Vegan Playground in West Adams. I got there as soon as they opened and was 4th in line. I ordered the vegan seafood gumbo which cost $25 and the voodoo fries for another $15. After spending $50 (with tax and tip) on just two items, I was expecting something amazing or at least certainly worth the cost. FIRST, it took 35 minutes to come out which is absolutely absurd for a food truck. SECOND, the gumbo was no more than 6oz of soup. It looked like an 8oz container that was very less than full. $25 for a couple spoons of gumbo was disappointing. The fries were fine, but really just fine, nothing special especially for being their special fries. Overall, neither were very flavorful. Super disappointing to spend $50 and wait 35 minutes for just "ok" food.

1st off all of the food was cooked to order so everything was fresh! It was my 1st time here so I didn't know how to order or pay, the owner came to the window with a beautiful smile and great attitude and showed me how to scan the QR code and place my order. The food was absolutely delicious and flavorful every bite was mind blowing. I couldn't believe how similar the mushroom tasted to seafood. The tartar sauce was for sure the star of the show it complimented both the oyster mushroom and the fries perfectly. I can't wait for them to have outdoor seating because this was definitely a meal to sit and enjoy immediately

Very disappointed in @voodooveganfood we have tried two Sundays in a row only to find out each time they are waiting on the chef and who knows when the chef will arrive. It's one thing to serve a poor meal because you can make up for it the next time. But the one thing people can't get back is time. And when you make the time to go somewhere and they're not ready that's time they can't make up for.

While I am not at all vegan, it can be a fantastic change of pace when trying a cuisine that is not at all my regular routine. Happily, Variable has tons of choices, and we loved what we got. I was drawn towards the 'N Seoul Bowl' (Korean spicy plant based pork, house marinated Kimchi, organic edamame, steamed organic spinach, carrot, steamed broccoli, onion , organic shiitake, topped with green onion and sesame seeds and side organic quinoa). So good, a bit spicy, and so many flavors on the plate it was impossible to not only love it, but I could not finish it, either. That goes from all their dishes. They are big, and in our experience, it came out piping hot soon after ordering it. My companion tried the 'Indian Tikka Masala' (homemade Indian curry, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, yellow squash, potatoes, cabbage, chickpea, micro green, Served with blend wild Jasmin rice and Indian Flat Bread). Tastes so fresh, hearty, with just enough of a kick to it. I look forward to trying some of their other dishes, too. The burger that the table near us ordered looked fantastic. I gotta think that everything here is pretty dang great.

They only have a hose A/C in the corner that didn't do much to cool the place down. The food though was amazing! As 2 vegetarians and 1 vegan, we had never seen such an extensive plant based option with not only vegan cheeses but meat substitutes with protein! No wonder they have been ranked #1 for multiple years. The starter bread came in a brown bag and was soft and delicious, especially with the house pesto. You could really taste the basil but it didnt feel too oily. We got the calamari because none of us have ever seen a vegan one on a menu! It was breaded and fried and had a squishy center made of pea protein that I guess simulates the real one? It came with a marinara dipping sauce. I could obly have a few because they were fried and I felt like they were a bit too salty Next the pastas came out - the Pistachio pesto and the fusili with sausage. Both were delicious. The pesto sauce was the same one we had with the bread but the pasta had Pistachio chunks in it as well and generous amounts of pesto. The sausage was chewy and the sauce must've had either the same seasoning or chunks of it blended in because you could taste the same flavor in that as well! We had hopes of trying dessert but these 3 dishes were a perfect size for our party and we had been starving ourselves for most of the day for this (probably due to all the protein included in a usually carb only meal). The chicken stays crispy for a long time and reheats nicely as leftovers. Everything we've ordered is really good and crave-worthy. We got the lucky catsu, curry catsu, crispy shrimp, spam masubi, catsu masubi, orange chicken, crispy chicken. Top two favorites are lucky and curry catsu. Small things I'd personally wish to change is that the onion is too strong in the macaroni salad. Wish it wasn't in there period. And the rice is a little on the dryer side and it sticks to the container- so when you scrape up the last bits of rice, you could be eating the paper from the container. I like that they use compostable containers though!! But yeah the rice is on the harder side especially as leftovers. But whatever, their main items are bomb and makes me not care about anything else. Service is quick! Note: it is not a sit down restaurant. You order (ahead) and park on the street and call them to let them know you're outside. They'll bring the food out. Reception isn't great outside fyi. I've been here 3 times and never last long enough to get a photo before digging in. There are two other vegan restaurants right next to it, same concept - order and pick up. Great for different options if one is craving Mexican from Cena or hot dogs from All franks.

I ended up getting so full that I took my second dish home! I absolutely loved the coconut drink, "I Am Chill." They were also happy to customize it with less ice, which I really appreciated. The "I Am Next Level" bowl was delicious, healthy, and very satisfying. My second dish, the "I Am Beaming" Pesto Alfredo Pasta, was a little too creamy for my taste, but it was still enjoyable. It was fairly noisy during lunch on Friday, and the service was decent but could have been a little more attentive. There were a few moments when I found myself wondering when the waiter would come back to my table. Overall, a great Dine LA value with delicious, healthy food and some creative drink options. I'd definitely come back to try more dishes!

The ambiance is always a cool, calm, and chill vibe. I tend to come around the time they open on the weekends, and it's especially quiet, and I enjoy eating out in the outdoor area. Smoothies are delicious and they offer so many customizable options. On this visit, I had the savory version of "I Am Hospitable." This waffle is cooked to perfection and it has the perfect amount of crispiness and fluffiness. The oyster mushroom is exceptionally well-cooked with a great crunch without it being too oily. Everything here is always seasoned appropriately. Customer service here goes above and beyond, and I believe (Candace?) saw us on our last visit. She was so warm and engaging, plus she gave some really great suggestions. I wish other restaurants had people like this. On every visit, no matter who seats us, we receive the same warm welcome and friendly service that makes us feel great the rest of the day

The cashier was super patient and helpful which I appreciate a ton! The location is on the corner of a lil strip of businesses so a few parking spots which makes a difference. Inside was a small setup but again super cute Here's what we got: 1. The Smokey (10/10) - it's banging! I really wanted to try it specifically because the onion-jalapeño jam got me stuck... and it did not disappoint! 2. The brisket breakfast burrito (9/10) - I asked them to cut both in half since I was gonna share with someone in the streets haha I love burritos, I love vegan breakfast burritos so nom nom nom! 3. Speculoos brownie (10/10) - it's super El Niño so the brownie was hot and ready by the time I landed so it was gooey and delish af I will definitely be back when I can push out to HP to grab refrigerated meets and cheezes! Best of the best…read more Maciel's is a Highland Park gem located on of course York Blvd - this Plant-Based Butcher Shop has been voted one of the best places to eat in Los Angeles and rightfully so. Whether you're vegan (like me), vegetarian or flex (like a lot of the world) this is a spot you should definitely try at least once or at least thrice. Impressive sides, soups, salads, sandwiches (both hot and cold), "meats" and "cheeses"... Not to mention desserts and breakfast items. Love the French Toast!! But that Reuben is a 10/10 and my guilty pleasure. And the meats are plant-based, loaded with flavor and true culinary flare. Maciel herself as well as this eatery combines passions for cuisine, health, nutrition and care all in one in this often thriving vegan-friendly area in Greater Los Angeles. Catch them also at big gathering such as the annual Vegan Street Fair in North Hollywood, Coachella Music and Arts Festival, and Open daily from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm, closed on Mondays. Some parking in their lot, but street recommend if the lot is full on the corner of Aldama St/York Blvd. Gender-neutral restrooms. And open to all.
