Booked a Duffy boat for a surprise birthday celebration. I called ahead of time to ask a couple of questions about my reservation and the lady was so helpful and kind to answer all of my questions. We got the 12 person Duffy boat and we all fit comfortably. They allow you to come up to 30 minutes before the reservation to decorate the boat which was very nice! Once we arrived, it was a couple of guys who showed us to the boat, explained everything and were so kind! We arrived a little late for our reservation but it wasn't a problem to them. Alright, first of all, I've rented many boats from Voyager, however I just had the worst experience I've ever had. So this worker from Voyager named Andy was so rude to us at first however we let it go at first. I mean, maybe he had a bad day at first. BUT, this is where it gets bad. So, on HIS mistake, we had to pay an extra $100 because ANDY had told us that we had to be back by 5:05 P.M., however, when we got back at 5 P.M. he had told us we were supposed to be back by 4 P.M and charged us an extra $100 dollars. My first experience in a Duffy boat was topnotch thanks to Voyagers. My younger sister tasked me with booking a sunset birthday cruise for 12 guests. Booking was easy, pricing was fair, and Luann was very proactive in giving us all the relevant details we would need for our reservation. The dock is on the Balboa Island side near were the ferry pulls in. We were able to find free street parking in the quaint nearby residential area on a Saturday late afternoon. We were a couple minutes early (shocking for our group!) to the dock but Andy was welcoming and let us board a few minutes earlier than our confirmed start time. We had lots of space to spread out, ample room to set up our food and beverages, loved the sound system and had a great time overall. And, it always feels good to support a small local family-owned business. We will back to Voyagers! read more

Bought a deal on Groupon for an afternoon date with my husband and had a fun time! Luann was sweet and Joe was awesome. We couldn't find parking and when we did the meter had a 2hr max limit on it and our rental was for 2hrs. Not to worry, Joe ensured we weren't ticketed and fed our meter when our time was almost up. The Duffy itself was in great condition. Nice and clean, had a cool sound system, drove well and we felt safe! My husband didn't want to move from the Captain's chair! Lol. I want to rent from them again but will wait for it to become active on Groupon again. I don't want to take a chance with another company after receiving fabulous customer service and a clean ride! Voyagers is first class. I've been on several Duffy's in the Harbor and the Voyagers boat is by far the cleanest and well kept. I originally found out about Voyagers because it was the end of summer and I wanted to still make use of whatever warm weather we had and finally ride a duffy boat that I heard was a pretty awesome experience. I organized everything with Luann and she was awesome from beginning to the end with ensuring that the date and time worked for my friends and I. On the day of our scheduled ride, we drove down to Newport and parked in the residential streets and walked over to the pier. We quickly found the boat docked and met one of Luann's workers who gave us a quick guide on how to steer the boat and what we could and could not do. After loading our food and drinks onto the boat, we were off. Since we were running late into our 3 hour boat ride, Luann's worker was so nice to offer us additional time since there was no one immediately renting the boat after us. We steered the boat around the lake and took turns at the Captain's chair and had a great time. Overall, the boat was nice and clean and very easy to learn how to steer. I would definitely use Voyagers again in the future as needed. read more

I was very disappointed in choosing voyager. Brought out of towners, we sweated in boat as little air with Plexy glass and the table top broke off before we entered and my husband had to reassemble it with drill. Seriously! Not classy or 5 star luxury. And tabletop broke again during cruise. Definitely not 5 star. The best boats ever in Newport Bay! Clean! Set our boat up with a nice table cloth...comfortable..just like it was your own boat! Luann is wonderful! Most of the other Duffy boat rentals are for tourists. They do not care about their return customers. I believe Voyagers are in this for the long term. They are trying to capture the locals. The owner and "family woman" (that's what she states) had very poor customer service. I tried calling back multiples times and texted multiple times within seconds after booking with a time conflict and instead of picking up my call she took the time to immediately charge my card and went on to explain how she's a business woman and she needs to feed her family and that she has to charge me $50 because her booking company charges her and her landlord charges her money for rent and she has to survive and feed her family. Not sure why she brought it up but ok. She then laugh hysterically and said it's not her problem. I usually go to the other bigger Duffy Boat rentals but I figured I would try Voyager even though they were smaller. Boy was I wrong. Skip this business due to their poor customer service and rent from other more organized businesses that are safer. She took my $50 for a 1 STAR bad review. Not worth it. We lost power 4 times during our 2 hour rental!!!! We cruised the Newport Harbor in one of the Voyager's larger 10 passenger Duffy boats last Friday. Luann was very friendly and the arrangement was easy, however, the boat was a dud. During our 3rd loss of power, an OC Sheriff boat was nearby and towed us to a public dock. We got it to work again, but then died within eye sight of the Voyager dock. Joe was very apologetic but haven't heard from Luann even after I sent her a text a few days later, which seem like her preferred mode of communication. I don't like writing bad reviews. and this will be my first. An apology would have gone a long way!!!! After my review, I promptly received a message from Luann. Voyagers was so wonderful! We've visited Newport Beach several times over the past year and wanted to try something new during our December visit. We had done a larger harbor tour earlier int the year and it was super crowded and not particularly pleasant, so we thought duffy-boating might be the way to go. I contacted a few of the rental companies in the area and Voyagers was absolutely the most prompt and accommodating of the bunch. Luann was very sweet and helpful during the booking process and got us all set up a few days before we were due to visit. On the day of our rental, we parked in the metered parking and walked across the street to the pier where they'd instructed us to meet them. Joe was there waiting and was kind enough to give us a little orientation (since we'd never done this before) He also provided a map and gave us some pointers on the best routes through the harbor. The boat is beautiful - so clean and comfortable. We had 5 people (4 adults and one 3 year old) and there was probably space for at least twice as many if needed. There is an awning over the top so that you are shaded, and windows all around (I believe it can be open-air if the weather is nice) There is cushioned bench-style seating along the perimeter of the boat, with a few small table tops where you can set drinks, etc. There is also a nice little cooler at the front of the boat where you can store any snacks or food you've brought along. Additionally, there is an iPod hookup where you can plug in to play your favorite music (a feature I completely forgot to utilize because we were so distracted with the fun of the boat and the sights of Balboa Harbor :)) We headed out along the harbor and saw all sorts of fun stuff, from huge "lifestyles of the rich and famous" homes to yachts and sailboats with funny names, to barking harbor seals, pelicans, and friendly (maybe overly friendly) seagulls who would fly right along beside the boat, staring in, or take a perch on the front of the boat right in front of the "windshield". Something important to keep in mind: the boat tops out at about 3 miles per hour, so although Balboa Harbor doesn't seem all that huge, you don't make super great time as you wander around... so make sure you give yourself enough time to see and do what you want to see and do! We had a little one along and figured his attention span would be somewhat short, so we opted to only reserve for an hour. This was a mistake! For one, he was completely entertained the entire time and was sad when we were finished, but additionally, an hour just doesn't give you enough time to truly enjoy this experience. We thought we'd allowed enough time to return to the dock without a problem, but due to the aforementioned slowish speed, we ended up running a bit behind. Luckily, Luann was very kind when I texted and said "no worries" - we ended up being about 20 minutes late and they were very nice about it, which was appreciated. In the future, we would definitely reserve for 2 hours at the minimum and would probably opt for 3 or even more! It was such a fun day, and the price was extremely reasonable, especially when you compare it with spending $15-20 per person on a group boat tour that lasts 30 minutes. I can't recommend Voyager enough - please do yourself a favor and go check it out the next time you are in the OC. read more

Voyagers Rentals was definitely the best Duffy renting experience I ever had. We planned last second to book a Duffy and were experience horrible customer service from other places. Not Voyagers Rentals!! Luann and her husband offered such wonderful customer service! We had the option to either meet at their dock, or have them drop the Duffy off at a public dock on the island. They both gave us a tour and a rundown of the Duffy we rented and I just have to say, they keep their boats in immaculate condition! The Duffy we rented comfortably sits 10 people and the captains chair is in the middle of the boat allowing the driver to be included in all the conversations. The price in unbeatable and the personal experience they gave us already has us booking more tours! read more

I had the opportunity to take it out with my family twice over thanksgiving weekend and we had such an amazing and relaxing time.
