This was the day we were leaving to go to the airport to go back home to the Bay Area. We left a god awful seafood spot that was not very good and were looking for a bar to kill time before we left for the airport. We stumbled upon this spot and they had literally just opened 30 seconds ago but was still doing opening procedures. We asked if we could come in and the bartender was gracious enough to let us in. We came in around 9:30ish on SuperBowl weekend and it was a very light crowd. We sat at a table across from the bar. Our server spoke very low, making it somewhat hard to understand her but very pleasant. My partner was very hungry so we ordered the jerk chicken wrap, no tomatoes, and the crispy brussel sprouts. My partner enjoyed the wrap. So much so he ordered another while I waited for the brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts were very hot (like straight out the pan) but not crispy. Our server was unavailable for awhile? but my partner was able to order another jerk chicken wrap with the super cool bartender that came to check on us. This one came with tomatoes and chips, despite him asking for both to be removed. I ended up eating the chips. They were surprisingly good. Baroness is the perfect late night hang out spot. I come for the tasty drinks, yummy creole pizza and crab au gratin dip when I'm out with friends. I stay for the chill vibes and good music. I love that there's space at the bar but also comfy private spaces for more intimate gatherings with friends. Stopped in a few weeks ago for happy hour. It was the night of the NFL draft(1st round)... and as luck would have it, they were showing it on their TV's. Ambience and Vibe- 9 out of 10. Very cool and well designed spot. Bartender- 10 out of 10.. I forgot his name unfortunately.. great customer service and the 3 drinks we ordered.. pineapple, spicy pineapple and strawberry margaritas were out of this world. Food- 8 out 10.. very solid, Flatbread, candied pecans and jumbolaya were well executed and tasty. If they had been served a bit hotter in temperature, would have been a 9. I have to agree with other posts in that this is a business that makes you wait - for no reason. I can't express the feeling of approaching the completely empty bar and waiting patiently while two bar staff have a conversation and don't even care to look my way. After hearing all about their complaints about work issues I had to break their conversation and that surely looked to annoy them. This happened twice when I approached the bar. We were stoked about this place too, what a disappointment. Had the service been acceptable this place would have all of the elements of a weekly Happy Hour visit. However, it was revealing with the lack of service why there were no regulars (or anyone) attending the Happy Hour. Oddly, our food was served so quick that it was a pleasant surprise. The food wasn't spectacular but decent for Happy Hour. The place is very cute inside with nice artwork on the walls, was very clean, and has the potential for a good vibe. This place has really gone down hill since it was Victory. My coworkers and I had the weirdest experience here one day after work. We walked over there after work one day, so it was kind of early about 5:30pm. We walked in to an empty bar and instead of greeting us in a friendly way, the bartender kind of rolled his eyes and scoffed as if we were intruding. I shrugged it off and we proceed to ask for drink menus. He told us to "scan the QR code" on the tables. Still not friendly. I asked about the happy hour specials and one by one we placed our order. When I paid for my happy hour drink, I stopped to ask him a question regarding the price. I thought i heard $5 per drink and when I asked in a friendly way, he barked at me that I heard wrong and it was $9. So I tapped and closed out. I already felt uncomfortable so I didn't even look at the screen, just tapped the tip option and signed. Come to find out, when my coworker paid and asked for a printed receipt, gratuity was already included in the bill so he got double tipped (which he obviously did not deserve). When my coworker tried to confront him, he lied and said it was on the menu. IT WAS NOT. The owner was sitting there and argued about the same thing. IT WAS A LIE. There was no notice of a tip being included anywhere on their little QR code menu or signs at the bar or any where to be found. Service is 0/10 Drinks: the happy hour specials was just ok, definitely not worth $11. 5/10 Food: we ordered the muffaletta sliders 4/10. It tasted old and had an extra layer of what tasted like cheez whiz or melted American cheese which I had never seen in a muffaletta before. We also ordered a cheese board. The meat looked between white/green, the pralines and crackers and some of the cheese was good. 7/10. I would not recommend and definitely not going back. It's a dark, run down, bar with terrible service and mediocre drinks. There are plenty of other options downtown that have better quality food, drinks and service! read more

We hosted a professional social event at Baroness on 11/23/24 and it was OUTSTANDING from top to bottom. The venue was very accommodating and welcoming, the food was excellent, and they created signature drinks that were delicious! The arrangement of the space in different rooms also created great opportunities for conversation. Next time we're in NOLA, we will definitely book Baroness for our event. read more

It was comical, like an old SNL skit: "I'd like an order of scallops." "Sorry, no scallops." "OK. I'd like the Brussels sprouts." "Sorry, no Brussels sprouts." I ended up with the SOB sliders, which were amazing and the charcuterie board, which was tasty if not imaginative. This place was awesome! We found this little gem while staying at the Homewood Suites. It's a small bar in between Poydras and Canal. We visited on a Sunday night and they were playing very nice R&B tunes. We decided to order Hurricanes....I've had a Hurricane just about every time I've visited New Orleans, but I am convinced that was the best Hurricane I've ever had! Better yet, that was probably the best drink I've had since I turned 21 and started enjoying adult beverages! The bartender that took care of us was the young lady with the neat glasses. We also tried the crab dip and it was amazing. We returned the next night, but the vibe was different and it was much quieter although there was a live band. I'm sure we will return! read more

We came here because the concierge at our hotel recommended this place. When we googled reviews, they did have 4.4 stars out of 5 so we thought it would be good. I can't speak for the drinks because we just had beer and house wine for the happy hour special. The music was nice, we happened to come when there was a filming of the restaurant for promotional purposes. The food looked nothing like the pics on the menu and it all came out at different times. I ordered the truffle popcorn and the skillet shrimp pasta in a cream sauce....there was no cream and I MAY have had 4 tiny shrimp, not even cocktail shrimp size in the pasta. I had to ask for seasoning because there was none. The truffle popcorn seemed to be microwave popcorn with truffle seasoning on it (the second batch I got was good, first batch had lots of popcorn seeds sitting on top...the guy who made up the bowl wasn't happy I sent it back, it should never have been served in the first place)...AND it came out after I got the skillet pasta. The server I believe was new, he admitted to only having the burger, nothing else on the menu and he wasn't very attentive. I snagged happy hour thankfully cause if I had paid full price I would have been very disappointed. I also ordered a charcuterie board... it literally was 2 chocolate covered pretzels, 4-5 small crackers, like 5 slices of pepperoni and 5 of salami (like you buy at the deli counter at Walmart in the bag) there was a few small chunks of cheese.. a small wedge of Brie.. a couple nuts.. it does normally come with fruit but I asked for it without because I don't eat berries. Customer beware!! I specifically made this account just so I could make other people aware for safety reasons. Hubby and I had a date night to celebrate my birthday last night. We entered at about 9pm after a night out at walk ons. The bar itself is very beautiful and inviting. We were greeted by a Hispanic bartender who helped us pick out some drinks (and even let us try a new cocktail she was learning). Since the bar was empty, the male bartender asked her if she wanted him to make one of our drink and she agreed. Both of our drinks were phenomenal. They were both very friendly and kept up a nice conversation with us. A couple minutes later another customer came into the bar and ordered with her and (for reasons I am still confused about!) all hell broke loose. Apparently the other guy asked her for a drink he'd had before, and it was one that the male bartender had created. Because it was his specialty, the female bartender asked him if he wanted to make it. For whatever reason he got really loud with her saying that if she knew what was in the drink she should just make it herself. She explained to him that she only asked because she didn't remember everything that was in the drink, just the basics. He starts yelling at her, telling her she's acting stupid, commanding her to stop talking and she's just got this dumbfounded look on her face because I mean really, it just escalated and she was at no point being argumentative or rude to this guy. It made us REALLY uncomfortable. When he started to get loud she told him that it was fine and she would just make the drink. Kudos to this lady because whew!I don't think most people could have kept her cool like that. The whole time he just keeps going! And she just keeps saying don't worry about it I'll make it. To make matters worse, he then kind of like bends down to get closer to her face and continues to be a complete dick head after she's already agreed to make the drink herself. My husband (being the nice man that he is) saw how embarrassed she was and how completely unhinged this guy was acting and attempted to steer things in a new direction to take the heat off of her. My husband told the male bartender something to the extent of "well hey dude why don't you make me a drink that you like making since you're the recipe guy I'd love to try something " and this dude just would not back down. He then proceeded to get louder, tell my husband not to interrupt him, told him to stay out of it because his bartender wasn't listening to him, and that my husband shouldn't be barking commands at him. The lady bartender was visibly mortified and asked him to please just calm down. He ended up walking away loudly saying how he was going to go sit down "before he had to put his hands on somebody". What on earth????????? The lady bartender repeatedly apologized and said that she had no idea what that was or where it came from. We had all been sitting there having nice light conversation and it was like something flipped a switch in this dude. I've never seen anything like it. We stayed for a couple minutes after that and she continued to apologize and we had some laughs about our random trauma bonding experience together. She was really nice and we felt so sorry for her. I honestly kind of felt bad leaving her there with him. I assumed this is why it was empty in there on a Friday night...because if this is the way he behaves! I don't know if he was the owner or something but wow. I've never seen somebody talk to another person like that in a work setting. Completely unprofessional and honestly, kind of scary. When we were getting ready to leave she let us know that the drinks were on the house and apologized again. My husband and I have worked in service industry for a long time and have never experienced something like this before. We will come back to see her on the week days but will avoid this place like the plague on the weekends when he is here. . let me just say that this lady needs a raise, and that man needs to be fired before something bad happens. When asked if we could please order, they said that they have no servers and weren't able to take a food order. They did find the energy to walk over with the check for our drinks - ha!
