STAY AWAY! Very unethical business practices go on at this location. I ate here yesterday (3/28/23) for lunch and full disclosure I have not eaten at a WaBa Grill in a long time and after yesterday, I won't be back. The menu has changed as has their pricing. I ordered a chicken bowl for $9.99. I was then asked veggies, which I said yes, and then white or brown rice. Given the sequence of the questions, I believed the veggies were a part of the bowl and not an add on. I was then given my total of $12.01. When I questioned the total and asked isn't the bowl $9.99, the employee said, "Yes." Not until I was done eating did I realize there is a $1.00 charge for veggies despite taking away some of my protein to accommodate the veggies. The employee lied and failed to tell me the veggies were an add on. It is VERY evident this company and establishment is attempting to steal $1.00 at a time from its customers and will likely continue doing so. So my recommendation is go somewhere else where customers are valued! read more

This WABA was opened on the site of my favorite sushi/Japanese restaurant, so I was not really happy when that happened. But, my wife really likes WABA since she's try to eat a little healthier. Yes the area is a little shady, but if you're from Santa Ana you're used to it. It's very clean inside and employees usually friendly. Plenty of parking even during lunch. Inside has a few tables but tons of outside seating. WHAT I REALLY LIKE is that they offer salmon. Not an option I'm aware of at Flame broiler. Also when I ask for avocado they usually give me a lot. Terrible attitude of staff, which always comes from the top and how much they care about effective customer services AND customer experience training. I'm not out for staff to be reprimanded, just retrained. No issue with the food quality, but there were some unacceptable aspects of our dining experience that must be told. Staff had back door propped open on very cold night and said they had to do so or the door would lock. Female employee's attitude about me closing the door before knowing why it was open was negative (heavy breath, grumbled to other employee). Final straw that led to me writing what is a VERY RARE negative review (or ANY reviews for that matter) is staff had incredibly inappropriate music playing in the restaurant that had graphic lyrics about sex and body parts, including the words f**king and p**sy. Staff did change the music after asked, no issue with attitude with that. Management needs to focus on effectively training staff on customer experience beyond just being auto-pilot "nice" only when directly interacting with a customer, as well as do more quality control around customer dining experience. read more

My review is solely based on the food. (We ordered it for delivery, so I can't comment on the customer service or the atmosphere of the place) but honestly, their food was so good and fresh that it is worthy of a good review!! I ordered the steak rice bowl with a side of shrimp skewers. The food was delicious and very healthy. I'm always looking for good dinner options with low calories. The bowl was about 600 calories and it came with a decent amount! I'm very pleased with my order. The shrimp skewers were a little basic, but tasted good nonetheless. We will most certainly order from Waba grill again, but they need to open up a location closer to us in Irvine! We would be there all the time. read more

I am very disappointed in this waba grill I have been coming to this waba grill every afternoon for the past 3 years for my break and I am always pleased with the service how ever last week I was off work late and decided to stop by and get the regular I always get salmon veggie bowl with brown rice only to find out salmon bowls are no longer sold after 10pm because they take long to cook and they are almost closing the cashier tried selling me the salmon bowl but the lady said she didn't have any more salmon after 10 and that it was gonna take long to cook at least that is what I heard the cook tell the cashier to tell me this has never happened to me in any other waba grill The cashier tried accommodating the order for me which was nice but still bumped that I didn't get my usual salmon bowl. The closing time is 11 so your telling me one whole fuckn hour before closing time and I can't order salmon crazy! read more

Heard this place is comparable to Flame Broiler, and I think I like Waba better! There are so many more options: shortribs, shrimp, and salmon. Of course, they have the norm, steak, chicken, and tofu. You can choose white or brown rice too. We got the shrimp specialty plate, Waba signature plate, and Waba bowl. The specialty and signature plates come with a fat orange slice and some weird salad.. maybe kale? The shrimp was flavored really well. It was smokey but still had some sweetness to it. The chicken was pretty similar to Flame Broiler, but I liked the steak at Waba better. They put some kind of sauce on it that I really liked. It's on the sweeter side. Add some hot sauce and I'm good to go. The only thing that I wish they had was different size options like Flame Broiler, but there always has to be a tradeoff I guess. read more

I used to go here once every two weeks for lunch. I liked it here because they were fast and efficient. Now, however, the new cashier made it so difficult to order. I wanted a combo and she only let me get a bottled beverage, even though I said I wanted a fountain drink. She also got my order wrong, even after reading it back to me. How did this one get such a high review? Rundown of the score: Chicken has been overcooked and very very dry. Rice did not have enough water in it and was under cooked: very hard and unpleasant to eat. Teriyaki sauce: chemically tasting and smelling. I poured it and it was like nail polish. I kept smelling it and i started to lose my appetite. Hot Sauce: again, with the chemical smell. Why not just get bottles of sriracha and leave them on the counter???
