I believe this Waffle House in Ashland has been here for a long while. Because my friend told me he had a classmate from his childhood used to work here. Come to find out, it was many generations of management ago. Me and my friend came here for breakfast because the hotel's breakfast line closed early. It was my first time dine at a Waffle House. So, I picked the combo from the menu without much of investigation on Yelp. Service was pretty good. After we finished eating, waitress took the empty plates away. It seemed more people were coming in. My food was lukewarm. I ordered All-Star Special only $11.00, it was $13.50. The waffle wasn't special. But I had to have it because it's Waffle House. My friend ordered burger with hash brown and toppings on the bottom. Weird placement. Prices were reasonable. Since it's 24/7, I could come anytime. Nice. read more

The service here is very wonderful and the employees are very kind, but the cleanliness of the restaurant could be better. The some of the workers were not wearing hair nets, and I find that concerning considering that most of the workers had long hair, I ending up finding a hair in my drink so I just left. We were greeted upon entry and requested to sit in a certain area because they were short-staffed. Despite being short-staffed, we were waited on quickly. Our server was excellent. She was friendly with a great sense of humor. She kept our drink glasses full and made sure we had everything needed. Our food was cooked as ordered and tasted great. My spouse and I waited nearly 45 minutes to get a table. As Waffle House is a local favorite of ours, we didn't object to waiting. However, there where two tables that sat unbusted and empty the entire time we waited. Other customers come and left due to the extended wait time. As we where being seated, roughly 15 minutes after I asked to speak with the manager, Dennis came out. He was defensive right off the bat, and he wasn't listening to anything I was trying to say. All I was trying to explain was that unbusted table was causing then to loss business, and made the whole staff look bad. He started yelling at me and was so rude, and unprofessional that he told me and my spouse we had to leave. Dennis has no business being employed at Waffle house, let alone in a management position. Until this abusive, and aggressive individual is removed from this location, we will not be returning. We have never been treated so poorly, or with such disrespect. My husband and I stopped here a few days ago. I knew as soon as I had the grits that they were off. I only had a few bites. Within 24 hours, I was vomiting. It became so bad, I sought urgent care. My condition then deteriorated to the point they sent me to the nearest hospital in an ambulance. I ultimately was diagnosed with bacterial food poisoning and pneumonia from aspirating my own vomit. My family and I decided to go to this waffle and. The staff was nice and very friendly. My order was right but the rest of my family's meal had missing and or wrong foods. My grandparents asked for egg whites and they got regular eggs. I don't know if the don't separate eggs which isn't that hard but they didn't tell us they didn't do that. My mom ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese grits bowl and they didn't give her grits. There were flies everywhere and it was disturbing for me. This was my first time at this place. There are no Waffle House near my house. My cousin told me the place was amazing. As we drove up to the building all I could think was "This place is supposed to be better then iHOP. The building was super small, and there wasn't much seating. We got luck and was able to sit down before a giant crowd came in. The booth was super small, to me only two people can fit in there. Our server was super great. She came up pick what we want. "The All American Breakfast." I got my sausage extra crispy, and the grits was AWESOME!! I had to put some salt and pepper, but you get like a entire bowl. The waffle was huge!!! We live in the area and occasionally go to the Waffle House after church, won't be going back for a while. There was plenty of staff standing around making lots of noise but not doing a lot. The place was really dirty today. The waffle station was awful, dough had run over the sides of the irons and was piled up around them level with the tops and falling over on the floor. Long wait for food and it was tepid at Best when it arrived. We heard several customers complain about the temp of their food too. No one seemed to care. Person who acted like a manager didn't seem interested either, other than to contribute to the noise level. Trash was all over the floor every where we looked. Realize they had a busy a.m. but they could take a moment to pick up napkins and straw papers off the floor before someone slips on them. read more

Very dirty, disorganized work stations. Came here on 02/20/2021 at around 11:30pm-12:30pm. The lady with blonde hair called Shayan was extremely rude and racist to us and her coworker that was working the kitchen was beyond rude and antisemitic. Told us that we should've been in the oven a little longer. Very nasty attitudes and Shayan kept rolling her eyes and saying shes tired and wants to go to sleep every 5 seconds. I asked her for my chicken sandwich with no cheese and she rolled her eyes and said " you're so picky, you need to learn to them together". They need to take a course in hospitality and professionalism, because they have none. At least smile and take our order and we wouldve gone our merry way. Was roadtriping from NYC to Charleston SC hence why I stopped. Food was eh, chicken was way undercooked gave me with cheese and bacon. Cannot have pork. Also told me that they dont have utensils nor napkins and that I need to go to walmart for that. We were gonna go to cracker barrel on the way home but since we had a great experience in an Atlanta, GA Waffle House, we thought we would give Waffle House another try in Ashland,VA... but it was a big mistake. The lady greeting and seating was the only positive experience and a waitress we wished we had (Sonya, I think was her name). Bacon was greasy, eggs over medium were barely over easy, and waffle was burnt. Our waitress never checked on us and we were right at the table at the entrance of the counter (couldn't miss us if you tried)... and worst part was the non stop complaining about how people were not leaving good tips. So here is a tip... focus on providing good customer service and connecting with people and the money will make its way to you. We did leave 15% because its the right thing to do given the pandemic hit but I can see why people were not leaving good tips. read more

Had never been to a Waffle House. Was skeptical when we arrived because it wasn't the cleanest place, but the service was friendly & quick. The food was tasty. We expected it to be more of a restaurant setting like iHop. Instead it was more like fast food tables & booths. We of course got waffles. They were good. The bacon was thin, flavorful and crisp. My kids loved both. My husband who had the most negative feelings before we arrived, conceded that it was much better than expected. I only wish it was cleaner. Food that we ate was OK, the one star is because of the food handling. I directly witnessed the grill cook handle raw bacon and beef with her (gloved) hands, then directly use the cooking utensils to position and prepare the meats on the grill. The prep cook who is handling the prepared foods then used the same now soiled cooking utensils to move around and then remove the cooked food. This prep cook then handled a fresh tomato and started slicing it for my salad. When I called him out and told him his (gloved) hands were contaminated with raw pork and beef, he seemed to not understand, somehow insisting that because he was wearing gloves it was somehow safe. The woman who took my order then told him "he wants you to change your gloves" at which point he gave me a look and then changed them. I didn't eat the salad. This exchange really bothered me, not just for the unsafe handling of raw pork, but that somehow asking that my salad not be contaminated with raw pork was somehow an extreme request and it was something that "I wanted" him to do rather than something that they need to do to keep their food safe. We usually hit the Waffle House on our way down 95. The service is quick but the AC is often set so low that it makes me wonder if they want you to eat and run. That might not be far from the truth because of the amount of coffee we drink. It's a conundrum.... Drink coffee to warm up because the AC is so low. Turn the AC down so the customers don't drink up all the coffee! Ok. Enough about that. I recommend fresh eggs over easy, hash browns and sausage. Hubby like the grits... not my thing.
