    Easter Brunch

First thing first. We're not from around here so this review is for my gang back home. All this is part of our Anthony Bourdain tribute to his show The Layover Atlanta. This was one of the places to go. So being a little hungover from last nights blues bar outing, we needed this. One pecan waffle was needed. Lite fluffy and large by CANADIAN standards. Btw it was Easter Sunday and yet this place was full. We sat at the counter and watched the military style kitchen deployment. It was amusing and impressive. Everybody had a role. They got our order wrong but it was probably because of my accent. I ordered 1 double pecan waffle but we got two regular pecan waffles. NP, I took one home. The next was the hash browns. Learn the lingo. Scattered, smothered and capped is the way we went. It was as promised!! Greasy salty sweet. Washed it down with a cup of black joe. Everyone was friendly and personable. Families with kids and dads with daughters. A slice of Americana. If you're not from here then you gotta eat here so you can understand all those references to similar diners in all those american movies.

First of all, it is waffle house. Cheap greasy diner food. If you are not looking for this, don't come or complain. It's how waffle house is supposed to be. As someone who grew up in the south I've visited all sorts of waffle houses. This one by far is the best I've ever come to. It's the people that make it that way. Much like each waffle house varies, so do the people. I will admit I've had some bad experiences with the evening shift. Nice people but bad service and cooking. But the day shift (7-2) more than makes up for it. I now go to this restaurant more than any other just because of the amazing service and cooking of day shift. The waiting staff is excellent. My children even know them on a first name basis and love coming here. And while all the cooks on day shift are good, I have to give a personal shout out to the man they call "Leonard the great". There's a reason they call him that. Make sure he's cooking for you. And in closing, their management is even wonderful. Their district manager, Nichole, handles any situation that may arise and has gone out of her way to make up for the few times I had bad service on evening shift. Wonderful place. I'd give more stars if I could.

It's alright. Your typical Waffle House. Always busy and always cold! Could use a good cleaning, though.

I…read moreloved the atmosphere and had a great time at the bar while waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. The bartender and drinks were amazing, and the bacon appetizer was incredible! We enjoyed the Pearberry which was light and delicious, as well as the Japanese Old Fashioned which my partner thoroughly enjoyed. Although the price for bacon seemed hefty, it's almost a slab instead of slice of bacon. It's a solid portion and very thick and deliciously coated in a sticky sweet sauce that we enjoyed. We were having a great time and were in great spirits but it took a turn once we were seated for the dining portion of the experience.. I think our experience came from the person manning the meats, who in our opinion doesn't know proper temp checks. We ordered multiple filets, ribeyes, and a tomahawk at our table of 5 and every single one was under. We asked for medium and medium rare throughout our table, but they all arrived severely underdone. The tomahawk was the biggest disappointment, when you pay a hefty price, you expect better results.. but it was raw, because rare doesn't even really describe it. We are not the type to make a fuss, so we just ate our steaks and asked for sauce to make them palatable. The flavor was there but it was very subtle, it could used a bit more seasoning. We relied heavily on the sides and our prior experience at the bar to keep spirits up. The reason this review isn't worse is because regardless of our dining experience, our bar experience was superior and I'd go back strictly for that. I would try it again to see if the cook has gotten better but not for a while.

I decided to try the salmon eggs benedict, and it was nothing short of outstanding--a beautiful fusion of flavors with perfectly poached eggs, rich hollandaise, and fresh, high-quality salmon. Every bite was satisfying and thoughtfully prepared. The rustic potatoes were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and seasoned just right, making them the perfect complement to the dish. I also ordered mimosas made with fresh-squeezed orange juice, which added a refreshing and vibrant touch to the entire experience. What impressed me most was the attention to detail, from the presentation of the food to the overall quality of the ingredients. You can really tell they care about what they serve. I rolled in there hungry enough to eat the bumper off a truck and ordered the meatloaf ciabatta sandwich with hand-cut fries, and sweet mercy... somebody's grandma must be back there running the kitchen because that thing was borderline life-changing. The meatloaf was thick, juicy, and had that "somebody's been perfecting this recipe since 1978" flavor going on. The ciabatta held it together like a champ, and those hand-cut fries? Lord have mercy. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside -- the kind you keep saying "just one more" until suddenly the basket's empty and you're thinking about ordering another. Now here's the real kicker: they've got gluten-free options, which means I can bring my wife this weekend without her looking at the menu like it personally offended her. That alone deserves a round of applause. So if you're anywhere near Buford and your stomach starts talking louder than your good sense, do yourself a favor and stop by.
