I got up early with friends to head home on a recent trip. That's western North Carolina to central Texas. OVER 1000 miles to my bed. Might as well get a quick breakfast. Super friendly staff; traded some banter with the cook. I love this place because they cook the bacon to order! Although, for this visit it could have been a little less cooked. But, I appreciate him trying to get it right for the #softbaconsnob. Did notice that some of the hashbrown options had vanished from the menu. I inquired and the waitress still said they could do everything they used too. Kinda surprised though, that's a signature thing for WH. I struggled thru the HB ordering process too because of the changes as I rely on the traditional menu. Think I ordered scattered, splattered, Jerry Mather'd. Gee Wally, why does my taters have coffee grounds on it? Nice experience and held us over till Meridian, Mississippi where we had lunch. Will be back next year to check in on a true southern staple. Standard Waffle House breakfast, sticky table and all. Our server was prompt and got us coffee and food right away. Our food did not excatly come out as we ordered it but it was ok. A few things were missing. Unfortunately, the thing that really took this down for us was our server had really dirty finger nails. They clearly had dirt caked under them. Unfortunately, when working in the restaurant business hygiene is extremely important. It made us wonder if she had washed her hands? We both failed to finish our food. Won't be back. read more

It's hit or miss. Waffle House isn't known for being the cleanest establishment in town. Sometimes the food is correct & warm, sometimes it's not as good. Sometimes the staff is appropriate and friendly, sometimes they aren't so much - it depends on the day. We walked in and no customers, 3 employees. One server and 2 employees sitting in a booth. When the server greeted us I said 2 coffees and we took a seat at the counter. My wife is nudging me me to leave then. As hungry as I was I wanted to believe there was a reason for the condition of this place. So I mentioned to the server "wow you guys must have had a busy morning". Very casually she said no they have not. In my experience Waffle House has always been clean, efficient and decent food. Too many good independently owned restaurants in Blairsville to go here. The waitress was friendly and the coffee not good. read more

It was the first morning of our honeymoon vacation and we were eager to have waffles before we relaxed after a 10 hour trip. Seeing 4 1/2 stars made this stop a no-brainer for breakfast. We took a booth in the far back corner of the restaurant. There were a number of flies buzzing around, but we tried to ignore them, even though it can be a sign of a cleanliness problem. My lady ordered a breakfast bowl with eggs and sausage, as well as a waffle. I ordered a meal that had eggs, hash browns, and a waffle. The food was just okay and we were hoping for something more enjoyable, but it did what it needed to do and we quickly made our escape. The service was friendly, but the food was nothing special and the flies speak to an unseen cleanliness problem. If and when we come back to Murphy, we will probably skip the Waffle House and make big ole waffles at home. This is a "skip if you have better options" review, even if the better option involves making an egg sandwich at home. read more

This was the WORST Waffle House I've ever visited. The restaurant was filthy and our waitress was horrible. She brought out our drinks with the food instead of ahead of time...and they weren't even busy! The OJ we ordered tasted disgusting, like old, moldy oranges. I told the waitress and she made sure to comment that SHE made the OJ fresh this morning. The food came out with a pool of grease on my plate. Ugh. The bathrooms were also gross. There is not much in the area as far as restaurants but I would avoid this Waffle House. read more

It's my first time out here in Murphy and I came in with a LARGE group of kids. They welcomed us in sat us down and gave us some of the best most attentive service I have ever received. The cooks were on their A game, the waitresses and managers were super friendly and welcoming. The food was fast, hot, and right to my liking. An excellent stop with excellent people! They did a wonderful job, were very fast, and all had smiling faces and good attitudes even with the large group of people that came with. Loved this and will definitely be back! read more

I love Waffle House. Sadly, this store isn't quite ready for prime time. I was greeted warmly as soon as I walked in at 9am on a Saturday. It was busy, but I was surprised it took over 10 minutes for anyone to even make eye contact, much less take my order. I ordered my usual chicken with eggs and hashbrowns. I wasn't asked what kind of bread I wanted (I got white bread, but would've ordered a biscuit given the chance). The eggs were ice cold by the time they showed up, even though the hashbrowns were steaming hot. The chicken didn't show up until after I was done eating everything else. I watched the cooks (one trainee with a manager) prepare multiple orders and the problem is clear: they fire the eggs and hashbrowns at the same time. The eggs finish cooking way before the potatoes, so they plate the eggs which sit there getting cold while the everything else finishes. Everyone got cold eggs that day. I don't expect a lot from Scrabble Hut, but it kills me when they can't get a simple order right. read more

Waffle House is always a hit but this one is great on customer service. I took a large group of 40 and they had us in and out in a very impressive amount of time. The food was perfect and they got every order right. I am very impressed with how well they handled my group while exceeding my expectations of customer service and the quality of food delivered. Definitely a hit or miss. Don't come here for dinner. Your better off doing a late night snack. There were only 2 people working. Freezing cold to the point where I had to put a heavy jacket on my 2 year old and she's still cold. The sever didn't know how to work it and the cook refused to turn on some heat. Also had to wait 30 minutes just to order. Just to find out that a grilled cheese isn't a grilled cheese it's just bread with cheese on it, not even melted. Then halfway through my chicken deluxe I found a grey hair from the server in my food. Probably not coming back here again. read more

Visiting from out of town and was expecting the same service and quality food as in my home town Waffle House. Well unfortunately it wasnt the case. From dirty waffle makers, under cooked food and arguing servers in front of all the guest this was very disappointing. Cooks act like they are kings and run the place but work stations are dirty and unsanitized. Would not recommend anybody to visit! You would be better of with a hot dog from the gas station down the way!!!! read more

The Wife and I were just coming back from Cherokee NC via Pigeon Forge Tn car show and decided to stop and have breakfast at the Waffle House in Murphy NC. Now awhile back I had a bad experience with the Waffle House in Powder Springs NC and the wife had talked me into trying the one in Murphy. Well to my surprise it was great. The service, the food and the cleanliness. Cindy was our server and it was like we had known her for years. She was personable, professional and helpful. I look at it this way, all Waffle House Restaurants are not the same so give them a chance like I did. Prices are not equivalent to portion sizes. Unaffordable. Have heard that menu items are being removed. WH is not what is used to be in case you haven't stopped in the past year. When all you want is a decently prepared scrambled egg and you get eggs that are either too dry to eat or so greasy that all you taste is the grease, it's time to find an alternative to breakfast foods. read more

I'm only giving this place two stars for the food. My friends and I came in and were greeted as soon as we came in- but then our cook and server hovered over us smiling. Didn't ask us anything whatsoever so finally I told them what I wanted to drink. The server was friendly- as was the cook though he was insulting my husband and cursing.
