It was just okay. Nothing special. Grits had way too much butter. The scrambled eggs with cheese were just okay. The waitress was nice

The staff is very rude, unprofessional. On line orders aren't even fixed until you get there.

The coffee cups came with lip stain on it, they serve the forks, knifes and spoon with their own hands

They offer a variety of soul food items. I'm a huge fan of their beef tips , fried chicken , meatloaf and their lasagna (offered on Thursdays ). Each day they serve different things. Some of my fav sides are the Mac and cheese, the cabbage and their green beans. They are friendly people and you can not beat the prices. I eat here atleast once a week!

I used to pass this place all the time back when I was in high school, but never thought twice…read moreabout it. A friend of mine from high school posted a picture on Facebook of a fish breakfast plate that he got from here, and when I saw it, I instantly thought that I had to try it as soon as I could! Luckily for me that day was today, as I went here before heading to work. Ackingna's Place is locates I'm Old Walkertown Road right beside this auto repair shop. It's small that it's easy to miss it if you are not paying attention. There is very little parking, and it's crammed so get there early or be prepared to have a hard time getting out of you park there when it's busy. Since I got there early that morning, it was fairly easy for me to get in and out. There's no dine in area here as it's strictly takeout. As soon as I got out the car I could smell the aroma of bacon and sausage along with motor oil from the auto shop next door. I had to ring this buzzer to get somebody to come up and take my older. When I was there it was rand by this older black couple who were really nice. The menu is located on the front of the building on this laminated piece of paper, and is big enough where you don't have to squint. They serve breakfast all day everyday. There also serve lunch and dinner. They have omelets and these various breakfast platters whose price is dependent on the type of meat you get, as well two eggs, grits or hashbrowns and two pieces of toast. All this could range from $5 on up. I got the breakfast platter with bologna, cheese eggs, hash brown and toast. I added an orange juice and it was $8 total. The food took a little longer than I would have liked to be ready but I was like the first customer and they did look like they were just opening up so it was forgivable. Once it was ready, it was place in a styrofoam doggie bag and wrapped in a Walmart grocery bag. It reminded me of how I take my lunch to work on a daily basis! The food was all piping hot which I love. The eggs melted in my mouth and I could taste the sharp cheddar in every bite. The bologna was seasoned to perfection and wasn't burnt at all, plus it was he thick cut bologna as well which I love. The hash browns make could have been cooked a little longer but they were still really good and mixed with onions for flavor. The toast was great and was even better after I placed the jelly on it. I also got some OJ. They put ice in it which I don't usually like but it tasted like that Bright and Early orange juice my grandma used to buy when I was a child. It was still good and all gone in no time. They had a sanitation grade of a 93 which I would like to be a little higher (96+) but the overall experience was great and I'll be back for sure! *Note: Look at the picture of the menu and you will see what I mean when I say they serve a little bit of everything, but soul food related! Even chitterlings, and one of my all time favorites: fried okra! Go visit this place! They open as early as 6AM and close at 8PM but not sure what days they are closed though. One more thing, they serve BREAKFAST ALL DAY! Check it out, and thank me later!

I loved this place! I've been trying to make it out forever and finally had the chance. It was busy…read moreon a Sunday morning, we waited a good 30-40 minutes, but it was well worth the wait and once we were sat the food came out impressively fast! My friend ordered the breakfast burrito, it was huge! For a side she had the sweet potato tots. She let me steal a bite of both and yum! I opted for the Hot Honey Chicken with Pimento Benedict and wow! I was nervous the pimento cheese would be overpowering, but it wasn't at all! It was a nice, creamy complement to the spicy crispy chicken. The hollandaise cut through some of the richness for a pleasant mellower. Prices are reasonable and our waitress was great! The restaurant is larger than it looks but it does get quite crowded. Can't wait to come back here!

Another of the good downtown restaurants that I have fought the parking to try - downtown WS's…read moresuccess is also a problem going forward - parking downtown needs to be addressed intelligently, which the local officials don't bring to the table, instead they are going to make changes which will just make matters worse! This is a solid restaurant with much to offer in the brunch/breakfast area - an area that has become popular and chic, and it almost always means much will be expensive, usual very expensive considering the less than costly menu ingredients that drive food choices here, and other such brunch spots. Brunch is seen as more than just a meal for some folks who are all into what is trendy, and restaurant are aware of this and prices are raised due to the "experience" element! I have tried several items here including their version of Huevos Rancheros (not a fan of how they make it, pulled pork is a party foul), the Eggs Benedict (decent but over priced for sure, $17 with bacon added), and several Omelette choices, can reach $15. This is obviously a popular spot in downtown Winston, but I find it generally overpriced, loud, and the service is inconsistent. I like a good adventure, but somethings simply are not worth the cost! Note that the prices for individual items are written, very lightly with no $ sign to the right of the item. This is done intentionally to make the customer pay less attention to what they spending. Many restaurants are using some form of this approach!
