Our first time visiting was when they had a sit in restaurant in Eagle River. One Sunday we planned on stopping by and it was closed! I started to follow them on Facebook and they have now relocated to NorthEast Anchorage off of Muldoon! I honestly haven't had a bad plate from here. Veteran/family owned, I love to support locally owned establishments. My favorite dish so far has been their garlic Mac and cheese with chicken strips. It was creamy, melty, flavorful, seasoned correctly? What more could you ask for. I also love their sweet waffles (cookie butter and Nutella please!). What you may want to consider when coming here is there is a single line at the order window, and the only menu to order from is above the window, that requires a quick look to make your selection. It was a busy Saturday morning and our food was ready pretty quickly. Painted picnic tables, paper plates and plastic cutlery makes it easy cleanup tossing it all in the trash on your way out. I would like to suggest to them 1/2 sheet of paper menus as hand outs for patrons in line and to take with them. There is a menu on line as well, we did not know of until we sat down and a placard had it for us to scan. We can now say "we tried it". read more

Yelp 100 Challenge 2017 - # 70/100 Their food truck was at the Japanese Summer Festival 2017 at UAA (University of Alaska Anchorage). The big boy wolfed down the waffles and wings, I didn't even get to take a picture. So I ordered bananas with Nutella and dolce de leche waffles. Both were good although nothing really stood out to me. I was expecting the dolce de leche to be the better choice but when it came out, the sauce was too runny it tasted more like condensed milk. I also didn't like that it was topped with strawberries and drizzled with chocolate. Mind you I love chocolate so I know that, that was all I would taste. I like strawberries too but this pairing didn't do it for me, imho. Then again it just might be my own personal taste. The price was about how much I'd pay for waffles in LA so I wasn't really surprised. Maybe I'll check out their other offerings, next time. read more

In short... this is as 5 star as 5 star could be. It is 5 star in every category (service, staff, food, creativity, uniqueness, etc.) In long... I live in Las Vegas and during our travels word around town was that we had to try out this cool waffle joint. So we did. Waffles, Whynot ? I was having a hard time understanding how there could be hoopla over a specialty shop focusing on the humble waffle. With a strong recommendation from the Baron of Brisket, Mrs. B and I embarked on a pilgrimage to Eagle River to investigate further. We arrived at 10 o'clock on a Sunday morning and we're not surprised to see a 20 minute wait for a seat. The place was operating at 110% capacity (all seats full with people waiting). The interior design was sufficient to keep people from sitting on the floor, nondescript booths and tables. Some art hanging on the walls. I didn't see anything that gave me any concerns regarding sanitation, it also didn't come across as sterile. I would stamp it as comfortable. Our server was very knowledgeable and very comfortable with representing the restaurant. Come to find out, she was the owner's wife (co-owner?). I was amazed that she was able to give us the personal attention that she did as well as every other table in the restaurant. I would have to classify her simply as a dynamo! One of my favorite experiences to come out of the kitchen is when a person with a great deal of passion takes a simple dish and elevates it to magnificence. Well, they nailed it! I don't care what kind of dietary restrictions you may have but they have figured out how to make a waffle that you will be able to enjoy. I believe there are over half a dozen options. Gluten free. Sugar free. Dairy free. My guess is, if you were allergic to dimples, he would figure out how to make a dimple free waffles. The folks in the kitchen seem to be regular Picassos with the toppings. Whether you choose to go sweet or savory, you'll find something to enjoy. If you don't care for waffles, they have plenty of options fitting more traditional tastes. Be ready to be amazed. read more

Food I got was pretty good. I'm from the south and heard this place was a pretty close replication of how good southern food is at home. They were "out" of sweet tea - not sure why more was not made or what the situation was. They were also out of frying oil so could not order any fried chicken or fries or any of that. While we were looking for lunch options for we were tempted by the "best chicken and waffles you've ever had" statement. that's a bold statement to make, especially since we are from the south...but they were right!
