Decent food but pretty upset by the "rule" that customers who have never been "aren't allowed to choose." Uhm...what? I heard that this is because the owner thinks he apparently knows better than the customers, that he can open their minds to new food. It is breakfast waffles. Chill. Maybe just list on the menu to ask about creative options. I only came here for the chicken and waffles. Didn't enjoy thr confrontational server who insisted I couldn't pick, then stared awkwardly while I sampled the ..."creation." This is our NEW favorite spot on Muldoon. We stopped by Waffles and Whatnot for the first time yesterday. Lear told us she would pick from the menu for my wife and I, so we didn't make a mistake... haha! I'm so happy we trusted her - the waffle sandwich was so perfect. And the Baby was a perfect way to appreciate the chicken by itself, with a waffle on the side. These are the best waffles I have had outside Belgium. And the chicken was moist and flavorful throughout. And MOST IMPORTANT with the chicken fingers? No nasty joints or tendons. I love it! I really appreciate what Randy and Lear are building here together. I am a life-long East Anchorage resident. I knew of W&W but had never made my way inside the restaurant - and then the DeBarr location was gone. I was so happy to see them back on Muldoon, and opening a new place in the old Paris Cafe spot! Delicious! We enjoyed everything we had here...waffles were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, good bacon, fresh fruit, and amazing whipped cream. We had a couple chicken strips just to try them. Good flavor, moist, and crispy on the outside. Looking forward to trying more things! The atmosphere was fun and comfortable and the service was wonderful! The lady who took our order was very patient with us as this was our first visit and we had many questions. Whatever you do, don't tell them it's your first time at the restaurant. They will REFUSE to let you place an order and INSIST that you accept the chef's choice (considering any allergies) with the promise that if you don't like it, they will let you order what you really want. She absolutely wouldn't budge when I told her I didn't like this idea and I really wanted the meal I had chosen while in line. I don't mind them offering, but this went too far. This is horrible marketing! And how wasteful for a small business. I returned the chef's choice, and ordered what I wanted to eat for my meal. After sitting awkwardly while watching my group eat, I had to rush to finish my meal so my friends wouldn't have to wait overlong. Come on! That said, when I got the order I wanted, it was delicious. Owners: if you want to show off and introduce your menu to customers, maybe pass out samples of the chef's choice at tables periodically? Then the cashier had the nerve to say that all must be okay because I was smiling. What am I suppose to do? Be mad through the entire meal? Sorry ma'am, that smile was not for you! I'm giving 3 stars because I'm so put off by the experience. But if only focusing on food, atmosphere, clean bathrooms and good blues music, it would be a 4. My experience was similar to Cristine G.'s as I also ordered from the Waffles and Whatnot food truck at the UAA Japanese Summer Festival. They were supposed to have some kind of special waffle for the festival. I didn't see it on their menu so I asked if they had it, and the lady there told me they didn't have the ingredients for it. That was disappointing. Instead I ordered a dulce de leche waffle. It was...underwhelming. The waffle itself was okay but the sauces ruined it for me. The supposed dulce de leche sauce was runny and way too sweet and I'm pretty sure the chocolate sauce was just Hershey's syrup. The sauces combined with the strawberries and whipped cream was not the best combination. I'd be willing to give this place another chance since the prices were reasonable, especially compared to another waffle truck in town whose name I will not mention. But only if I happen to be in the same area as them coincidentally. read more

Unfortunately when our party arrived on August 3, 2019 the doors were locked, the phone number was disconnected, and the website is taken down. There was no sign on the door, and the inside of the restaurant appeared to have been vacated/abandoned for quite some time. I remember this place being really good, to the point, and was excited that it had a physical location. I am sorry to report that it closed. I would like to have been able to have more to say, and I would have liked to have seen at least a sign up on the door or an announcement. It's sad and hard to close your business, but our whole group of people drove 20-40 minutes to meet to eat there and there was no way of knowing. Very unfortunate. read more

I tried the Muldoon store front location today and was impressed. My food was hot, fresh and very tasty. I was impressed with how quickly it was prepared and presented. I ordered the breakfast stack and it really hit the spot. The waffle was slightly sweet which of course made a perfect pairing with the salty bacon. read more

Super tasty! Fast service even on a busy Sunday and the chicken and waffles is on point. Large pieces of chicken and all white meat. I visited Anchorage for the Iditarod this spring, and got to experience Waffles & Whatnot on my trip--and am still contemplating moving to Anchorage JUST so I can go back. I have some specific dietary needs--and they met ALL of them. AND THE FOOD WAS STILL DELICIOUS. Somehow, they've managed to come up with a way to make grain-free, sugar-free, legume-free waffles THAT ARE AMAAAAAZING. I had the savory keto waffle with reindeer sausage--and took two sweet waffles to go. (And ate them out on the lake while I watched mushers pass as the Iditarod started...) 10/10. When I return to Anchorage, I will return to Waffles & Whatnot. For sure. 100%. read more

Pros: Waffles and French Fries is amazing but everything else was terrible. I would do a to go order of waffles but that was it. Cons: Service is a 1 star, our waitress kept on coming back every 2 minutes until we ordered. After we ordered, she was not their anymore. Another lady gave our food to us and never saw our waitress again until it was time to tip. She did not refill our water and gave us the jug to fill our water ourselves. She never refilled the jug, she was talking to her boyfriend and the three guy customer that were there while ignoring us the whole time. She never asked how was our food. There was a few issues with my food and tried to flag her down but she was ignoring us. I got another waitress to get all the ingrediants that were in stir fry since some of it was missing. When it was time to tip, she came back and was all giggly and nice to us. I wanted to give her 10% but only option was 15% or higher or no tip. I did the 15% but usually tip 20% or higher. Never coming back. The guys that were there got better service then us. If you are a guy and single I guess the service would be great! Stir Fry, 1 star: Everything was not fresh. All frozen, some of the spinach was yellow which is due to cold temp or aging. It was supposed to come with avocado but did not even though it says on there menu. I had to ask for it and our second waiter gave it to us. My food was cold when I got it. It was supposed to be warm. The avocado was frozen since I ate some of it and it was ice cold. I had to spit it out because it was that bad. No seasoning and bland. I was supposed to have a waffle bit never got it until I asked our second waiter and she asked if I wanted to go or not since we were done with our food. I ate it there. The waitress never apologize for the mistake or anything. They just want to talk to boys and not want to work. Worst customer service I have ever had in Alaska. Been here for 23 years. Waffle and fries, 5 stars: Best vegan waffles I have ever had, would take a to go order of those waffles and fries and that's it. Only thing that saved the resturant. I came here for the first time on July 22, 2023. When we were ordering, my brother mentioned that it was our first time here, and the cashier said that first-time customers get random items on the menu and if they don't like what they get within two bites, then the chefs fix up another item. I didn't hear anything about whether or not those items were free-of-charge. Now, we agreed, and the workers either did an extremely pinpoint accurate job of judging what we'd like, or we're incredibly easy to please, but our two random items were so bomb. 5/5 stars for the food. The building itself has a nice open plan, and the walls were very cute and brightly colored. read more

Food is great but the service could be better. My wife and I both received the wrong orders on our visit. We also had to ask for napkins multiple times before receiving it. The server also ask me to pay in the middle of my meal. I said no and she followed it up with "can I get you a box?"
