For a Friday work lunch, I ducked into the Prudential center and decided to a get a hot bowl of noodles. At noon, the establishment seemed 2/3 full, so I was able to get seated immediately. I ordered one item, the grilled duck ramen ($20). This ramen, according to the menu, had a crispy duck leg, garnished with cilantro and ponzu sauce, served on top of noodles in a rich vegetable broth, with bok choy, fresh chilies, scallions and a tea stained egg. The grilled duck seemed juicy. Interestingly, the garnish tasted more like rosemary. The soup broth had a decent flavor while remaining relatively light. Unfortunately, the tea stained egg arrived refrigerator cold, the marinade had not taken, making this taste like a standard soft-boiled egg made the night before. Additionally, the scallion was cut far too thick. It did not cook while sitting in the broth. Both of these proved quite jarring. Eating a hot bowl of noodles only to bite into something cold, and getting a mouthful of raw scallion is not pleasant. These are simple fixes, but they have an outsized impact on the meal. First time here and we were very impressed from service to the quality of food. The staff and manager was accommodating with our requests. Our food was delicious and came out in a reasonable amount of time considering it was a busy Saturday dinner service. We love the friendliness of the staff and the light vibe of this place. This place was okay. Went on a recommendation from my daughter's friend. We ordered two pineapple boba drinks which were kinda of a mess. Taste was kinda bland. Kept spilling for some reason everytime I drank it. It was filled right to the brim. The straw was overflowing with the drink everytime I finished drinking. Daughter liked the Korean beef bao bun. Near sliced real thin. Not much filling in that one. Sliced mushroom panko eggplant bao bun had a lot of filling but needed more flavor or sauce. Hubby thought poke bowl was nothing special. I got the Chicken Pad Thai and the lady got the Pork Ramen. The Chicken Pad Thai was good, if a bit average. The lady said her ramen was too salty. The service was quick and attentive. The food arrived quickly after we ordered. The ambiance was a modern Asian fusion vibe, I enjoyed it. If you're looking for authentic ramen...this ain't it lol. I've heard about wagamama before but never tried it. We came here for lunch on a Tuesday and it was incredibly busy as there was a conference nearby. Luckily, we made it there before the rush so we were seated right away. We were a group of 6 and we each ordered a dish, I ordered the chili chicken ramen. They messed up the order for one person in our group, so she had to wait an extra 10-15 mins more to get her dish than the rest of us. The food itself was okay, nothing to be too excited about. Especially when you are familiar with authentic ramen and the usual depth of flavor, this may leave you unsatisfied. The food was meh, service was not great, and as it got super busy with the people from the conference, people were just standing around near our table as they weren't able to get a seat, which was annoying. Lovely fast casual spot. Even on a Saturday night this spot was busy but not too hard to get into without reservations. They have a large space and great food for many dietary restrictions. Vegan and vegetarian friendly, although our waiter wasn't too certain about allergen cross contamination (specifically for someone with a but allergy). I like to eat spicy so it was a subtle spice for me. Well seasoned and good balance of sweet and salty. The ramen bowl was okay. Absolutely not a place to get good authentic ramen. The noodles resembled the same quality as instant ramen. Egg is not marinated enough because you can still see the that most of the egg is white rather marinated brown. The pork belly is better than the Bao actually, it is not as fatty but well seasoned. The lettuce wraps were a good appetizer, not too filling but definitely opens your appetite. Had a dinner here on a family staycation and everything was delicious. We had a reservation-highly recommended- and got seated on time. The waitress apologized that the place was slammed and said we might need to wait, but the food came out quickly. They were out of bao buns, but the edamame and gyoza were delicious. Our party of 4 was seated right away and a long wooden table which can fit 3 party of up to 4 people as the benches separates the party or you can have a party of 12. it was around noon-ish and the restuarant had tables with customers already. There is a menu w/ drinks/cocktail menu includes, kids menu and on the paper place mat lists the cocktails. We ordered the kids food first and ask the waitress to give us a few minutes to look over the menu. The following was ordered: 1. 2-kids meal - rice and grilled chicken. Pls note that curry sauce comes with it so we asked for it on the side. It came with thinly sliced strips of cucumbers, shaved carrots and corn. My 8yo loves the chicken and curry sauce while I asked for teriyaki sauce on the side foe my 6yo. It worked out well 2. Edamame with chili garlic salt I thought it was different to try but it was nothing special. Also, I think they may have forgotten to sprinkle the salt as it was very bland. 3. Chili Calamari I love squid/octopus and this appetizer was great! The sauce that came with it was not expected but it paired very well with the calamari. 4. Grilled Duck Ramen My husband says it was good. Duck was soft and came apart easily. However, broth slightly on the saltier side for us. 5. I initially wanted the Short Rib Beef Ramen, but it was not available so I asked the server what she recommends and it was the Tantanmen Beef Brisket Ramen. The brisket is a lightly sweetened BBQ flavor sliced in thin strips. It was very good but broth is slightly on the saltier side. I like spicy food so I asked for chili on the side and that made my ramer even tastier. My husband had the Buddha beer and I had 2 cocktails (Blossom and Thai Chili Margarita). The Blossom was very delish and the alchy was definitely there. The margarita did not live up to its name being Thai Chili as I barely tasted any spiciness but it was still good and the alchy was there. Sometimes cocktails lack alcohol so I definitely enjoyed the drinks. Service was good and our server checked on us often. Plates were removed and water was refilled as needed. I've eaten at Wagamama a lot over the years, and always look forward to revisiting an old favorite and the interesting spices and flavors I remember from my days living in London. Tonight I drove out of my way to Prudential to hit up some of my favs. Unfortunately it was a bad experience and big let down. The Boa bun's appetizer was good, but arrived about 5 minutes after my main dish had arrived and I was working on that, until I hit a land mine. It felt like a sharp rock, luckily I didn't bite into it full strength otherwise could have broken a tooth easily. I spat it out on the table, and kept eating cautiously. Not long after the manager was walking by and enquired if I was enjoying my meal, I explained about the piece of bone in my chicken, and long story shorter he looked at it for a while and then wanted to show his head chef. He came back later and said it was mostly cartilage with a piece of sharp bone attached, which should never be in food you are serving. And that was kinda it, I made my way through the rest of my meal cautiously, and it just didn't really have much flavor, felt bland, and after all that i was over it. Nice guy, didn't actually apologize I don't think, just shared my amazement that it was in my meal. Didn't comp my bone in chicken noodle dish, or offer anything. A great place to stop by for lunch or dinner inside the mall. There is plenty of seating available inside and outside (inside the mall). We opted for a booth table. The staff tended to us right away. We ordered the Korean BBQ beef Bao and crispy cauliflower for appetizers. They were both tasty but the meat was a bit on the dry side. Really enjoyed the cauliflower and would love to to lessen how to make it. It was crisp but not oily, with the proper mix of spicy and sweetness. For the main dish we ordered the ryokucha soba which is served with two miso glazed cod fish. The fish was just lovely and tasted so soft and buttery. The soba was flavorful and prepared right. It was a bit on the salty side and would have liked it a bit less salty. The other entree was the short rib beef ramen. The beef was so tender and tasty, you could easily make it fall apart with a fork!! The ramen was perfect and we really enjoyed it. If it wasn't for the dry Korean beef and the salty soba, I would have given it a solid 4 stars... I do like the open kitchen, I love sitting close to the kitchen and watching the kitchen staff work. I remembered Wagamama to be a lot better so not sure if it was my taste that changed over the years or their dishes but the curry was not as good as I remembered and I tried some of the Bulgogi beef and it was just ok as well. For the price and the smiling faces of those inside the location when I arrived, I felt that I would have good food and a good experience. Not a big fan nor got a good impression of wagamama, but it's OK. We always wanted to try while browsing shops in Prudential Center. The restaurant is pretty large with long tables and benches, so you might be sitting pretty close to other diners. The menu is pretty extensive though, offering a lot of options for lunch. We started with 2 orders of bao and I'm not a fan. They are not worth the money (2 for $8) because you don't get a lot of filling. I like my bao overstuffed, thank you. One slice of pork and one slice of apple just doesn't cut it. Tori Kara Age was eh. My wife and son had the Ginger Chicken Udon and Chicken & Shrimp Yaki Soba. It did not look like soba to me and both looked like udon noodles. Tasted OK though. Their saving grace was my wagamama Ramen. It had decent amounts of shrimp, mussels, chicken and sliced pork in a decent broth and noodles. Luckily, I did not leave hungry or this review would have turned out a lot differently. Note: A new wagamama is set to open on 39th St and 3rd Ave in Manhattan. We pass it almost every week coming out of the Midtown Tunnel.
