Service was good. Cold noodles had a great texture and dipping sauce was very tasty- Tan tan was ok as was the garlic soup base- the potatoe mochi tastted like a tasty hash brown and the gyoza was also delicious and it was perfectly cooked.

Food was amazing. Service was super friendly. The parking sucks but it ain't their fault. The Shiro broth was much lighter than the Tantan but both were great! Potato mochi was sweet crunchy and chewy. Very interesting but it tasted great! 9.32/10

Wagaya is one of my favorite comfort food spots! While their ramen is great, the real star of the show is the corn tempura. The corn tempura is always perfectly crispy. I also got the garlic tsukemen. I like the texture of the noodles, and the sauce is so flavorful. The parking lot here is pretty small, but I was lucky to get a stall. I always join their waitlist when they open and am able to get seated when I get there. Service here is quick and friendly. I would definitely recommend coming here if you're craving ramen and want to have corn tempura!

The corn tempura here is my absolute favorite. It's so good and honestly addictive. The balance of sweet and salty is perfect and the corn stays super juicy inside that crispy fried coating. The karaage is also really good, with a light breading that keeps it crispy without feeling heavy. The tonkotsu is great too. I love that you can customize everything from the saltiness to the firmness and thickness of the noodles, and even the spice level. The soft boiled egg was incredibly flavorful, definitely one of the best eggs!

Small shop with maybe a dozen tables but comfy and decent size lot shared with other shops. The waitress was very quick and friendly. Our food came pretty quick even though the app we ordered said it takes time to make. The food was really good. Ramen noodles were good. The broth was so tasty but I could eat it all. That means good, healthy portions. My wife said the Yuzu Sake was refreshing. Will definitely be back and try another flavor Ramen.

I saw that Wagaya is one of the best ramen spots here so I wanted to give it a try! We tried coming here for dinner a while ago but saw that the waitlist had 80+ parties ahead of us so this time we went for lunch right when it opened and got seated right away! We ordered the calamari isobeage, house made gyoza, and each got the garlic Wagaya ramen. We enjoyed the calamari, it was crispy and I liked how it was a bit different with the seaweed type of batter. The gyoza was like your standard gyoza, still good though! The ramen was flavorful with a great broth that wasn't too heavy. Service was quick and it does get busy because of how popular it is so come early! Overall, a nice ramen spot and I would come here again.

    screamy :)

In all honesty, this would be my favorite ramen shop if Broth Bar hadn't opened up recently. The service is great, the ambiance is what you'd expect from a sit down ramen shop, and the food is top notch. It's just the wait time and parking that we don't love so much. All in all, if you're willing to wait a bit, it's a great spot any day of the week.

Wagaya is one of my favorite ramen spots in Honolulu! The servers are always so nice, they have a waitlist in-person and online to help you gauge how crowded the restaurant is, and their ramen is so delicious! I got the Vegetarian Hiyashi, which comes with a refreshing sesame-style broth and toppings that make it even more flavorful than their other popular ramen dishes. I also love their lunch sets, which are surprisingly filling. I got the C Set with the gyoza and tart, but umami-filled daikon salad. Vibe: The restaurant has many tables and bathrooms in the back. The music isn't loud, so it's easy to have conversations at the table. Parking: They have a small free parking lot in front of the store. The stalls fill up when the area is busy, but there's also street parking available on South King Street.

First time here. Very small space, So be prepared to wait if it's crowded. Tried the Wagaya ramen (shiro). Got it with extra noodles, but it didn't seem like there were extra noodles, So I wonder what the regular amount of noodles looks like. The ramen was flavorful and the noodles were delicious too. Also tried the daikon salad with the gyoza, That was delicious. I wanted to try the beef tounge and calamari appetizers but they didn't have any fried foods that day. I gave 3 stars for the little amount of extra noodles I received and for getting the waiters attention to order an extra soft egg for my ramen, But got ignored by him, So I ended up not ordering an extra egg. Oh well. Other than that food was tasty.

I came here with a group of four at around 11:50 AM. There was already a waitlist however it moves quickly. The restaurant opens at 11:30 and they're usually is already align. Also be aware of parking, the parking lot is shared with a church so make sure you do not park in the church parking lot or else you are at risk of being towed. Anyway, the restaurant is relatively small so if you have to wait, you'll be asked to wait outside. We put our names down again at 11:50 AM and waited. Probably about 15 to 20 minutes. As we were seated, there was already water, napkins, and chopsticks waiting at the table. Since we were waiting outside for our table, we were already able to know what we wanted to order and wasted no time in ordering. The food comes out very quickly and is full of flavor and aroma. The pictures don't do it justice. Each bite was so flavorful and so delicious. It was definitely worth the wait. I ordered the tan tan men, which was spicy however for the day that it was today, it had me sweating. The food portions are relatively large so we left very full. We had four appetizers to share and that might've been a little bit too much food. If you are coming to this restaurant with the group, the receipt allows, you to split the check evenly amongst the group, which is nice. Or you can just pay with the card and your server, whatever is easier for you. This was a great spot to visit if you're in the mood for ramen.

My lunch bud and I go out searching for either deals or really good grinds at least once a week. One of our regular spots Hokkaido Ramen in Kaimuki has recently closed, and while we are fond of Onoya, we decided to expand our horizons. Reading Chelsea's ramen reviews always gets the juices flowing... so this week we decided on Wagaya. I had been to Wagaya when they first opened. While I thought it was good, I also thought it was pricey. Of course that was years ago. Looking over the menu today, it seems the prices are quite reasonable. Maybe I was even cheaper back when. But let me tell you, the food was good. I had a tan tan, side karaage chicken, and a Sapporo. The ramen was really tasty. The noodles had a real "bite" to them and the chicken was ono. This cute lady next to us even commented that, it didn't look like karaage... and it didn't. They were rather big pieces, and breast meat. But it was fried perfectly and was very moist. The add-on even came with gyoza. That was good too. Not Taiyo () good, but tasty. I notice that Wagaya, Onoya, Junpuu, and golden pork all have similar ratings. I love all of them. Can't go wrong with any of these. Manichi also.

Gyoza...this was delicious but the corn tempura and potato mochi outshine this dish

Service was excellent. Food came out faster than Mcds. I have to say for my First-time, this not so hidden gem really impressed me. I passed by so many times thinking...ugh the parking is small and junk. Im glad I finally tried this place and 100% will be back. As of this post, best ramen in Honolulu. Thank you Wagaya staff for making my dinner a very delicious and positive experience

As a self-proclaimed Hakata ramen connoisseur (i loooove Hakata ramen and have tried some of the best Hakata ramen shops in NYC, LA and Tokyo) I was really excited to try Wagaya! However, between the service and taste of ramen, I can only give this place 3 stars. Though they did have a few stand out dishes, aka their appetizers. Appetizers: Potato Mochi & Corn Tempura. These were the best part of our meal! They were very unique and yummy. The chasiu rice bowl was pretty standard, nothing special, and didn't have much flavor. Ramen: So-so. I can't give it 5 or even 4 stars. Mainly because of three things. 1) the noodles were not firm as we had ordered (server told us they make them firm, but they were most definitely soft) 2) the meat in their ramen is really lacking, compared to other ramen shops (they don't give much). 3) the broth isn't very tasty... it's just not impressive. Service: Not great. We waited a long time to be served and have our orders taken & we're not checked in on often enough. My husband wanted to order extra noodles, but they brought us the check without checking in on us once during our meal. Oh well! I did like that they had a lot of tables inside to be seated quickly. Parking: Minimal for the building. There's honestly not a lot of parking and my family had to wait a while for a stall (we had 3 cars total).

SERVER told us they don't use MSG - we have sensitivity to MSG & didn't have any reaction after eating their yummy foods .

I am so intrigued by the sodium % option with the noodles here. I have been looking for that in a ramen place. How does this work? Any other ramen places in Honolulu offer the variable degree of sodium levels?

I've ordered "less salty" for my favorite tan tan ramen. It still has great taste, but I believe they use less of the broth paste. The soup is visibly lighter in color. I'm happy that the taste isn't compromised.

Overall, the ramen was very good, but I want to share an important tip about their waiting system so others don't get caught off guard. When your name gets close to the top of the list, do NOT wander away. They will call your name three times, and if you're not standing there, they'll cross your name off immediately. What surprised me was that they start calling names before the current customers have even finished eating or paid their bill. I had made eye contact with the host, pointed to my name and party size, and he acknowledged me. There were still people sitting at the counter eating, and it looked like it would be another 10-15 minutes before seats opened up. I stepped away briefly and came back, only to find my name had already been crossed off the list. The party that was supposedly leaving hadn't even paid yet and was still sitting in their seats. When I explained the situation, the host simply said, "Sorry, your time passed already. I called your name three times." Their sign says they will wait 3 minutes, but in our case it felt more like they called the name three times in quick succession and then removed it. Thankfully, after some discussion, he agreed to seat us anyway. So my advice: once your name is within a couple spots of being called, stay close and pay attention. As for the food, we ordered the Oxtail Ramen (spicy) and the Cashew Pork Ramen. The ramen itself was excellent. The oxtail was tender, although it didn't have a lot of flavor on its own in the soup. They provide a separate bowl with ginger and what appeared to be a ponzu-based sauce, and the intended way to eat it is to remove the oxtail from the soup and dip it into the sauce. That definitely enhanced the flavor. The restaurant is set up with bar-style seating in a half-oval arrangement. Your party will be seated shoulder-to-shoulder, and guests will be sitting directly across from you on the other side of the counter. I'd estimate there are about 25 seats total. Service is efficient, food comes out quickly, and most customers finish and leave fairly fast. For reference, we arrived at 8:38 PM on a Tuesday with 17 people ahead of us. We were seated around 9:15 PM, our food arrived by about 9:30 PM, and we left around 10:00 PM. Overall, this would have been a 5-star experience if not for the confusion with the waiting list. The ramen is absolutely worth trying, but understanding how their queue system works will save you from a potentially frustrating experience.

There was a couple in front of us who said they come here every time they visit Hawaiʻi and that it's a must-do stop on every trip. When you walk in, it's a small place. You can watch a team member washing the noodles and portioning them into bowls right in front of you. Then you choose your bowl size, small or large, and select your broth. After that, you get to choose from a variety of fried items and other à la carte options displayed on a warmer. Seating can be limited because of how busy this place gets. You line up to get your food, pay for it, grab your condiments, utensils, and a cup of water, then find a seat and enjoy. (They also have a cold vegan ramen) I waited until I tried all three of the warm vegan ramens to post this review. Each one has a different broth but all are topped with charred fresh vegetables that remain crisp yet melt in your mouth. Mmmmm! Love that they have eggplant and kambocha, simply brilliant! And the noodles are medium with a slight curl. They have great texture and a bouncy bite. But let's get to the broths. The first one I tried was the clear broth. It was light yet complex, fresh yet savory. The next one was the tan tan. It was creamy and nutty, rich but not gritty (like some tan tan ramens). The last one was the tomato broth, so unique and distinct. It was tangy yet sweet and aromatic. (note: they serve this with a shaker of Parmesan cheese to use as a topping, makes culinary sense, but I also don't consume dairy so passed on the topping). Now you're probably wondering which was my favorite. I don't have one. They are all different and delicious! No complaints. Only praise for three impeccably crafted dishes cooked with care. I adore that I can come back and eat whatever suits my flavor fancy. They also serve a vegan karaage. Crunchy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside but enough texture to make it feel 'meaty.' They do a great job with this dish serving it with a small salad tossed lightly with a goma-ish dressing. There is also a side sweet chili dipping sauce. I also am in love with their chips. Seems like a quirky item for a ramen menu but once you have it you realize how much sense it makes. Cut thin like air, the potatoes are cooked to golden perfection and sprinkled with Himalayan sea salt. It's a great crunchy starter before a bowl of warm sumptuous ramen and something other than your typical gyoza... Speaking of gyoza, they don't have a vegan option but my hubby tried it and always orders a side. They have options with cheese and garlic toppings too. Hubby has also tried their tonkatsu and shoyu ramen and slurped it ALL up. He was especially impressed with the shoyu ramen. All this deliciousness is enjoyed in an air-conditioned restaurant with an industrial steam-punk vibe. High and low tables accommodates seating for couples to groups. They also have a lovely lanai if you prefer eating outside. Street metered parking is easy to find, and they also have validated parking in the small lot. Junpuu is right across the Blaisdell Center so it is a great option if you're there for a fair, concert, or other event. The servers are courteous and efficient, and I give their playlist 5 plus stars. I usually find myself tapping my feet or humming along to the well-curated songs, classic and retro. If you are Gen-X you will totally understand! I came to Junpuu looking for a warm vegan ramen, I found three. And I'll keep coming back and rotating through their stellar selection of amazingly tasty noodle soups. Well, that and the karaage and chips. If you are vegan or vegetarian this is a MUST-try place. But you don't have to be to enjoy the bowls of culinary comfort that comes out of the kitchen of Junpuu.

I thought it would be just Ward Warehouse but now Ward Centre. Now I'm wondering about the Ward Theatre area. Some have found new locations but I'm not too sure about Kamitoku Ramen. I remembered they were selling from their food truck and one time offered their ramen for $5? When they opened their restaurant at Ward Centre, a bunch of us got in for the $8 ramen with a can of soda. They are always busy so I did order take out one time. I was more interested in the appetizers! Crispy beef gyoza, taro tempura and even garlic tempura. They have tofu prepared in different ways. I still haven't tried their Beefy King ramen with all the items on top! I did try their beefy seabura. I want to try here again especially the appetizers before they close this month.

The Good: * One of my favorite dishes is the cold chicken noodles with dipping sauce. It comes on a bed of freshly cut cucumbers & noodles if you wish. Literally is such a clean delicious dish. No one else makes this kind of dish. I highly suggest if you don't wanna eat ramen that day, but you want a good stack of noodles and protein. * The tan tan ramen is the basic good stuff that never gets old. * I have also tried the sour/spicy clear brother ramen and that was real interesting and good, but I gotta be in the mood for that one The Bad: * sometimes it's so busy! gotta wait for a table The Weird: * the menu is getting larrrrrrrrrge, screaming that the restaurant is run by Chinese really lol

Food was decent and Portion was reasonable. What I didn't like was how they kept coming up to our table and trying to take away our plate and bowl as if we were finish. Not once but 3x. Seriously, I still had ramen and char sui in my bowl. Let me finish!!!. It felt like they they were trying to rush us and mind you it wasn't busy at all. To add to it, when did they start automatically adding 15% gratitude for a party of 2. I get if its a big party but for 2 or even if by yourself is unbelievable. Save yourself the trouble and eat at another ramen spot. There is a few good ones around ala moana area or in the food court as well.
