First time coming to this place and the place is very clean. I like how they have their oven in front of the store and it gives off that authenticity. Food wise the portions are big and they know how to cook their bbq. Sauces are on point and not too overwhelming. They have a good amount of beer and drink selection too. Our family shared two meals, the tri tip and brisket with Mac and cheese, beans and corn bread, the ribs and pulled pork with mac and cheese, coleslaw and garlic bread and we had the bbq spud. It is a big potato and we had it with the burnt ends. We called in a to go order at 11:30 on Sunday. Food was ready in 20 minutes. Food was warm when we got home. They gave us regular bbq and spicy bbq sauce. All the meat was good but better dipped in bbq sauces. Beans were different, not completely soft and not really bbq flavored. I thought the mac and cheese was too mushy and not my favorite flavor. Corn bread was good. Garlic bread smelled delish but soft. It was to go. Potato was cooked thru and my favorite. I love baked potatoes. Three tables were occupied, a couple, a father and two kids and one person alone. I saw one person in the kitchen and one was at the counter. I have had takeout from this little spot several times while staying at a nearby hotel. I have to say that the ribs are absolutely delicious and the brisket is great as well. My latest order was the 4 rib meal with potato salad and garlic bread. I have to say on the negative side that the cornbread is not good at all. It's not sweet like normal cornbread. The potato salad is pretty good and the coleslaw is way under seasoned and very disappointing but the meat is really great. the garlic bread is edible. Came here right before the Korn concert at Shoreline. Order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. Brisket Sandwich (large): a ciabatta like roll stuffed with flavorful and juicy brisket. They do the brisket real well here, and the sandwich is served up real simple with just brisket on the buttered roll with some pickles and pickled onions on the side. I thought it was excellent! I love how you step into this restaurant, and it smells like smoked meat! We were quickly greeted by friendly employees. We had a reservation, but there was enough seating on a Sunday morning for customers to drop in. We ordered a Mother's Day special, where you pick your meats and sides. Everything was served family style: brisket, pork ribs, tri-tip, garlic bread, mac and cheese, coleslaw, and potato salad. It also came with homemade sweet pickled cucumbers, jalapeños, and red onions (really tasty, esp those jalapeños!). The meal was delicious! Meat is flavorful and well seasoned. We enjoyed trying the two barbecue sauces they offer (original and spicy). Sides were fine, but not the highlight; we thought it was still nice to have something to eat with the meat. We came as a party of 6, and everyone had good things to say about the restaurant. You're also given moist towelettes and Andes mints! Lovely! Everything was DELICIOUS. Their bbq sauce on the table was great too. The pulled pork wasn't the saucy sloppy joe-esque kind but more like smoky juicy meat that didn't need sauce. When we first came here nearly a year ago we were blown away by the quality of meat. The last couple of times we have been there it just hasn't been the same. The service is still great, the sides are still delish, but the meat has really been sliding. My wife's go to was the burnt ends and brisket. This latest batch just wasn't....Good. The burnt ends were tough, almost crunchy. Brisket was bland, fatty, and cut to thick. The pulled pork was ok, but no spectacular. At the end of the day it was really a let down, especially for $64 for dinner. It has gone from a place I wanted to use for work catering for 100 down to me taking the menu out of my bosses drawer. For some reason, it's pretty hard to find a good BBQ place in the Bay Area. Luckily, I had a good time at Wagon Wheel BBQ and would definitely come back again. [[ Parking / Location ]] I haven't seen this mentioned in other reviews but I advise you to park in the BACK of the restaurant since that is actually a paved parking lot rather than the parking lot out "front" where it's just gravel. Google Maps will lead you to the gravel parking lot so again, just travel to the back of the restaurant for more standard parking. There is an entrance from the back as well so you don't have to walk around. [[ Food ]] I got the 3-meat combo so I could sample more meats and decided to try the following 3: 1.) Tri-Tip 2.) Brisket 3.) Burnt Ends The Tri-Tip and Brisket were both really good in my opinion. Both moist and juicy and the brisket with some nice fatty pieces. The Burnt Ends were also cooked well with a lot of flavor but a bit dry in my opinion. I'm not sure I would get the Burnt Ends again in the future and stick with more Brisket and Tri-Tip. I also got the fountain drink because they do not have the standard Coke/Pepsi Machine. Their soda is from "Stubborn" and I love all the unique flavors they have. I tried the Black Cherry with Tarragon and Citrus Hibiscus Orange and thought they were super good. Well worth the $3.50 since there are unlimited refills. read more
