I ordered the chicken plate since I don't eat mammals, and it was flavorful, juicy, and cooked perfectly. My partner ordered the large beef rib. At first, he was surprised because the meat was served off the bone instead of on it, but after the first bite, that didn't matter anymore. The flavor was rich, the meat was incredibly tender, and it quickly became one of the highlights of the meal. One thing you shouldn't skip is trying the different BBQ sauces. They offer three varieties, and each brings something different to the table. My personal favorite was the original it complemented everything perfectly. You can tell a lot of thought went into making this place different. The BBQ itself, per usual, was fairly dry. The flavor is there, but I'd love to see the meats come out a little more tender and juicy. The SIDES though!!! BOMB. The corn and bean combo was easily my favorite. And then came the fresh-baked cookies... way better than Crumbl. I said what I said. I also really liked seeing the note from the owners, Steve and Tammy. They explain that they smoke their meats for 16 hours, make their sides, sauces and desserts from scratch, and don't use preservatives, additives, fillers or nitrites. Steve even puts his own number there and asks customers to reach out with suggestions. Whether everything comes out perfect or not, you have to respect owners willing to put their name and number right there and actually ask for feedback. And shoutout to the bartender! I forgot his name, but he usually works the late afternoon/night shift. That dude is awesome. Friendly, attentive and makes you want to hang around for another beer. Then there's Connie. She's apparently a regular. If you see her, you have two options: avoid eye contact... or clear your schedule. If you love conversation, you just found your new best friend. Overall: awesome atmosphere, bomb sides, ridiculous cookies, great bartender, and owners who clearly care about what they're building. I have been passing by this place for quite some time and finally decided to give it a try. It really enjoyed the food here. The atmosphere of the restaurant was amazing and you feel like you are transported to a different era! Kevin was one of the best servers Iv had in a long time, he gets 5 stars!! My wife and I shared the 2 meat plate and added the beef rib bone and a happy hour portion of the brisket fries. I eat a lot and we had a lot left over! The ribs were perfectly smoked and not overwhelming and did not even need sauce on them! The brisket was a little on the dryer side but was still pretty good The beef rib was a little heavy on the pepper for my taste but was still great and not many places offer a Dino sized beef rib The brisket fries were loaded with cheese and brisket and were amazing The Mac n cheese and creamed corn were fantastic however the creamed corn was a little on the sweeter side but was still full of flavor The corn bread is a must to add on! It's not overly sweet but more of a perfect balance of sweet and savory and paired with the special butter, it is perfection! We spent about 100$ total for ALOT of food and had plenty of leftovers. I adjusted the number of ribs in the order for a full rack on each order, which was an $14.99 per order. We also ordered the brisket in both combos. We had 7 people in our party and the amount of food was just right, with a few ribs to take home. The sides that we ordered were: Mac and Cheese, Brisket Beans, Chuckwagon Chili, and Salt Potatoes. We also ordered 3 cornbread muffins on the side to share. The brisket is a 10/10!!! So tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned! The ribs were also delicious but a tad spicy for me. The meats were so good just with the rub! All the sides were yummy but the standouts were the corn bread muffin with the maple butter! Kevin was our waiter-attentive, fast and funny! This place is an unexpected gem hidden in a busy shopping center. I love the interior decor. It felt like being at Knott's or Disneyland with how detailed and immersive it was. There was a wait when we came in for Sunday lunch/brunch but the hostess and our server were very nice and attentive. The food came in big portions and was very delicious. They have a softer fluffier waffle which I enjoyed a lot but may not be ideal if you prefer crunchier or Belgian style waffle. I specifically came for the biscuits and gravy as this is the specialty dish that I rate for every breakfast restaurant. To start off, visually this is a very chunky biscuits and gravy. It is not the prettiest but those chunks of sausage really made the gravy standout. Surprisingly it was not dry despite how chunky it was. As for the biscuits, I would not say that they were your traditional biscuit. They did not have the crumbly flakiness of your traditional southern biscuits. They were more like a corn bread. However, their biscuit bread did have great flavor and softness. The bread was sweet but it balanced really well with the savory sausage gravy. Overall these biscuits and gravy are a 9/10. To start, we ordered the Fried Pickle Chips and they were excellent. We also got the Loaded Brisket Fries which were pretty solid. I was with two other friends, so we decided to split The Platter for our entree. Brisket, Smoked Chicken Breast, Pulled Pork, Pork Ribs, Hot Sausage, and sides of Mac-N-Cheese and Cream Corn. We absolutely love Ruby Red's! Miguel is our favorite waiter; he is always fantastic and attentive, making every visit feel special. The service is consistently on point every time we come in. We visited on Mother's Day, and even with the holiday crowd, they accommodated us within 10 minutes, which we really appreciated. The ribs were incredible, and the cream corn, mac and cheese, and tri-tip beans were all amazing. They even gave out complimentary beignets for Mother's Day, and they were fantastic! Today, we also had the chance to meet the owner, who was so welcoming to us and kind to our children. The meat had just enough sauce and it was on a round, thick toasted bread that looked like a muffin. We also got 3 different pancakes: blueberry compote (it was yummy but the blue food coloring in the fruit cream was a bit too blue), lemon with coconut (my fav) and banana foster. I would have preferred more natural cream with no artificial coloring as they tasted really good. My friend ordered the pastrami with over easy eggs. It was pretty meaty and good too. This review is for breakfast only. We got a postcard from this restaurant we have never tried offering BOGO for breakfast which is my favorite meal. So we had to go. The interior is like a West World saloon. The breakfast choices were many for such a small place. You could see inside the kitchen a little and based how organized and spotless it is, couple with the ambitious menu items like Benedicts, predesigned omelets, and beignets, I knew we were in for a treat. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, fried green tomatoes, bacon and eggs plate. I had to as it was the only dish on the menu that featured southern gravy. When it came out I got really excited. The scrambled eggs and bacon looked standard. The tomatoes were perfectly golden brown and looked thick like crab cakes. The B&G platter was enormous - just the way I like it. The biscuits were completely covered with spotty chunky gravy. I believe it was smoked ham in a gravy that is housemade with sausage base. The biscuits underneath were the pan style cake-like biscuits and not the flaky buttermilk kind, but they were very good. The eggs were uniformly yellow and soft scrambled. The bacon was fully rendered but not crisp. Many people like their scrambled eggs soft and their bacon chewy, so no problem here. Just note to order "well done" for both next time if that's what you like. My dining partner ordered the brisket breakfast with pancake. Again, multiple plates - enough for two people - came out. The eggs were perfectly medium. The potatoes were expertly cubed, deep fried, then roasted with onions and two colors of bell peppers. Someone forgot to season them but after I salted them, they were perfect. The mound of brisket was impressive - at least half a pound of gorgeous beef with two bbq sauces on the side. The brisket tasted of smoke right away - I like beef forward then smoke aftertaste but I've been to Texas a lot. This is still very good and 10/10 for Orange County. The pancake brought back memories of the bran muffin from Claim Jumper. I could taste the buckwheat, or is it molasses, in the pancake? Whipped butter and maple syrup on the side in its own dishes instead of a sticky dispenser. Nice touch. The cooks, our server and the proprietor of this beautiful restaurant make me glad they sent that postcard. I will be back soon for sure. The leftovers we took home made two more meals so I would say even the pricing is right. read more

I had seen this restaurant before from the outside, but had never tried it. From the outside, you have no idea how different it looks inside! I would describe visiting this restaurant as an amazing immersive experience! The moment you step inside you are no longer in south cal! They have plenty of parking nearby and have their host(ess) right at the entrance. They have 2 main seating areas and a bar top. These areas have booths which include screens displaying sceneries or stand alone tables. Even the restrooms are on theme! The tables are super unique and some have a plaque which shows the type of wood it was made out of. They offer brunch and dinner menus. We have only tried their menu, but brunch looks interesting. The staff were super helpful on both occasions that we have visited and service was great. On our first visit we went for a combo with 3 meats and 2 sides. We LOVED everything we tried! We had brisket, sausage links and ribs. When you get the combo, you get the different sauces which are all very unique on their own way. My favourite was the hot one. For the sides, the chilli was amazing with brisket in it! The potato salad was very refreshing. We added the cornbread which was really good as dessert. Overall it was such a great first experience that we had to be back! We came back for a small meal so we decided to share the brisket French fries and they were AMAZING! We did ask for an extra sauce as we felt like we wanted more. Because we had shared that, I had room for dessert and ordered the beignets. They were big and tasty. This restaurant also has frequent customer club so don't forget to sign up and earn points for your visit! They also have a senior menu for brunch which is really reasonably priced. We've always enjoyed Ruby Reds, so we decided to give their breakfast a try for the first time. Unfortunately, it will probably be our last. Despite plenty of open tables, we waited a long time to be seated because there was only one server who was also acting as the hostess. The manager arrived late, and we were told this is a common occurrence. Even after the manager showed up, the restaurant remained understaffed, leaving the employees in a difficult position and making it nearly impossible to keep up with guests--especially on day right next to a popular holiday when higher traffic should be expected. Something to note. Initially it seemed like there was only two people there working which was the bus boy and the waitress. The food was equally disappointing. We requested crispy bacon, but it was undercooked. The potatoes were overcooked, and our eggs, bacon, pancakes, and even the maple syrup were all served cold. After waiting so long for our meal, we chose to eat it as-is rather than wait another 30 minutes for replacements. This experience felt like a management issue more than a staff issue. The employees were doing the best they could under difficult circumstances. Better management, communication with guests, and proper staffing would go a long way toward improving the overall experience. read more

Celebrated my birthday with my sister at Ruby Reds last night. Due to last minute appointment, we weren't able to go eat until 7:25pm. We felt guilty since they were closing at 8pm, but they were so sweet and took care of us. They were out of the brisket so we ordered a 1/3lb rack of ribs and five sides to share. Everything was so delicious, we barely talked during the meal. The Mac and cheese, fries, and creamed corn was my favorite. My sister told them it was my birthday while I was in the bathroom so they brought out a box of beignets to take to-go since it was past 8pm when we finished eating. We ate it in the car the car and we were in awe. It was better than cafe du Monde's and Disneylands beignets. It was incredibly hot and yummy with the lemon curd sauce.
