Vegan review: I had a friend who had been raving about Wah May for a couple of months so when they invited me to join I took them up on the offer. I ordered the general Gao's tofu (with no celery!). When I came out it was pretty good, better than Ying Dynasty in my opinion. Some 40-something woman who slammed our plates down, acted like we were bothering her, and spent 30-45 minutes sitting behind us clicking away on her cell phone and never asked us if we needed anything, refills, etc. Had to get the hostess to get her attention to pay the bill. Best word to describe this place is "YUCK!" I have been here twice. First time was for a snack and I had crab rangoons. Delicious. Then again, it's hard to mess up crab rangoons. So I went for a second time and ordered an entrée. Garlic Shrimp. I think I had six shrimp on a bed of lettuce. No sauce. Disgusting. The shrimp was dry and do they expect me to eat the bed of lettuce which essentially had nothing on it? If I get the craving for crab rangoons I might go back to get that since I live close by. First time I went it wasn't great but I always give places at least 2 tries because no place is perfect sometimes there are good days and bad days. I recently went with my family for the 2nd try and it was a completely different experience. It was much better. The waitress was very nice and the food was good. The wait time wasn't very long either which is always great. I gave 3 stars because I feel the combination plate selections to choose from aren't as good as other places so it made it hard to choose what to order and the prices I feel were on average a $1 more per combination plate compared to other Chinese restaurants. read more

This place has been around forever in Fairhaven, and should be recognized for the excellent food they serve. When I worked down the street, I sometimes needed a quick lunch. The chow mein sandwiches are the quick (and cheap) way to go, but they have a good mix of appetizers and lunch specials to keep your stomach and pockets full. Not awful. Edible, but wouldn't go back. Sesame chicken tastes like frozen, processed chicken chunks with horribly honey sweet sauce. Fried rice was really dark brown, had no flavor and the rice was over cooked. Chow fun noodles (wide rice noodles) were also overcooked and almost falling apart and had no "chewiness" the dish is known for. The "shrimp" in the Chow Fun were a so small they looked like processed canned shrimp and the sauce had no flavor. I should have known when I walked in. Place was dark, smelled like a musty basement and there were 2 white girls working the register and waitressing. Definitely threw me off. read more

Frequent customer every Thursday or Saturday night every week. It is Saturday night July 4th 2015 my wife and I decided quick dinner from wah mays and go see the fireworks. Yeah ok! I ordered 34 dollars worth of Chinese food 2 large chicken rice soups. Well when I arrived in my driveway, pulled the bag out and BOOM all the food on my driveway!!! I called said what happened after I shoveled it off my driveway into the garbage. They told me they wanted the food back and I said I took a picture of what happened but according to the manager it wasn't enough. He really wanted me to pick through my garbage to get it. So I did. All was ok they were going to redo my order until they told me they weren't going to refund me my beef teriyaki because it wasn't in the bag. I forgot to pick it out of the trash so they made me go all the way back a second time. At this time I was fuming. So I picked the food out once again and brought it back only to request to speak to the owner. The owner tells me it's not his fault and that I probably took a sharp turn going home. Yeah ok! I live around the corner. So he brought me out this big package of food said he doesn't normally do this I'm the first customer this has happened to yada yada yada. So I told him I want my refund and he can take the food and shove it straight up his you know what and that I'll boycott wah mays until the day I die. Do not go to wah mays ever! The food is always good. But tonight was another of the exceptional experiences we've had here. Most of the night we had the joy of hearing the waitress that was serving us talk about how underpaid she was and how she needs a raise. While the rest of the staff was out sitting at a table yelling back and forth to other members of the staff. Towards the end of our night our waitress came by to let us know she was leaving and left the check with us without asking if we were even done. Fabulous. Just fabulous. Great food poor service. Wah May is definitely one of my favourite locations for a quick meal, and I mean that literally--the food is usually always ready in 15 minutes or less when I call ahead for takeout. I've only dined in once or twice, but the atmosphere is very positive and as clean as a restaurant could be. I definitely agree with a previous review--there's certainly a Pulp Fiction vibe that I'm in love with. I'm not very adventurous when it comes to trying new things from favourite locations, so I usually always pick up a combination plate or a lunch combo of General Tso chicken and fried rice, which is absolutely delicious and never fails to disappoint. Service is outstanding and super friendly, down to earth and positive. I think my only complaint is that portions seemingly differ in size between dining in and eating out. read more

Especially love the wonton soup and egg foo young and many of the other delicious dishes they offer and priced very reasonable. This is easily the best Chinese food I've ever had. The fried rice is very dark and full of flavor. Everything is very fresh and delicious. The chicken wings, the pork strips, the chicken fingers, I could go on and on. The egg rolls are also amazing; no frozen, bland crap like you get everywhere else. When I visit Wah May's my first thought is, "there's no place like home". This establishment has been a staple in Fairhaven for my lifetime. The first place I eat upon entering the town and I visit every couple years. Sandy, our favorite server, always is pleasant and continues to surpass all expectations in service excellence. She sets the pace for the meal and with a "relax and enjoy" attitude. She returns often for refills and to check on our progress without interrupting the flow.
