Simply put - It's about quantity, quality is a different story.
I had ordered from Wah Shine once before, a three item item to-go order which overall I was relatively happy with. (Beef Chow Fun, Sweet & Sour Prawns, but the Egg Rolls - "M'eh")
After my initial visit, I thought that I just may have found a Chinese restaurant that just might make my list of "Go-to" spots BUT after my second visit it was just not meant to be. The last order left much to be desired especially after dishing out sixty dollars for such a mediocre meal.
The customer service was good, no problems, friendly, personable and helpful in answering my usual plethora of "I'm new here," questions. The issue I have is more with the overall quality and consistency of the food.
The order:
Lemon Chicken - Okay; dry; good portions
Sweet & Sour Pork - Alright; mushy meat; good portions; did not taste fresh

Beef & Broccoli - "M'eh..."; meat was stringy; good portions; did not taste fresh
Pork Chow Mein - "M'eh..."; meat was stringy; good portions; did not taste fresh
Egg Rolls - Should have been labeled "Nothing BUT Cabbage Rolls" ('Or as I call them, "Krauts in a Blanket.") Zero meat.

Sczchewan Eggplant - Good; cooked perfectly; good portions; NO HEAT - not spicy
Steamed Rice (2 orders) - Okay
Total: $60
One word: Inconsistent
I was surprised at how hit & miss the dishes were but mostly miss. The best item was the Sczchewan Eggplant but unfortunately for being a spicy dish, the eggplant had zero heat. - "Uhm, this is the spicy Sczchewan Eggplant, is it not?..." It was cooked perfectly, good portions, but missing the kick. - "Where's the heat?"
The Sweet & Sour Pork and Lemon Chicken were just "alright," but did have decent portions. (The pork was a bit on the mushy side and the chicken, dry.) The Beef & Broccoli along with the Pork Chow Mein were amazingly "M'eh," at best. The meat in both orders was stringy and did not taste fresh but again, good portions. (Here, quantity is king.)
For the money, highly disappointed in the overall quality. What I anticipated and hoped to be good especially after my first visit was more mediocre, middle-of-the-road. The most disappointing item of the meal was the "Cabbage Rolls," extremely passable. (DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT 200 YEN!) Waste money.

Overall, Wah Shine is a very luke warm, "Eh," wavering between two - three stars with its so-so quality, Chinese food served in bulk. However, for about the same $$ with smaller portions I'd make no hesitation ordering from Yen Xing. Yes, it's pricey BUT given the huge difference in consistent, overall quality, no contest. I would pay good $$ for quality over quantity every time, at least you know what to expect. If I was feeding a bunch of prepubescent teens whose only criteria is that it can fill their gullet then we're ordering Wah Shine! However, if you expect more than bok choy in bulk you may want to reconsider. The food reminded me of what one might find in an AYCE Chinese restaurant less the food troughs, where the stir fry is served with a shovel.
I have not been back to Wah Shine since but I may give them another try and stumble in after a night of drunken debauchery... 'Maybe that's the problem, eating while sober? I'm kidding, I could never be THAT drunk. Again, clichés exist for a reason, "You get what you pay for." ('Or to the contrary, "You don't get, what you DON'T pay for," like quality.)
Final rating: 2 1/2 stars (Rounding up due to the customer service - 3 stars)
