Way shine has excellent customer service, and for the past year the food has been sooo delicious. However this past week it seems like there's a new chef and this chef has changed the recipes. My orange chicken was too sour, and soggy, which was shocking, Who ever this new chef may or may not be, I sure hope they go back to the original recipes!! Exceptionally good service here. From the moment we walked in, the hostess greeted us and let us sit anywhere. Our server was also very polite and provided us with great service. She was very detailed and brought us more napkins, more water, and extra plates, without me even asking! As if she knew what I was thinking. I ordered a Sichuan Beef lunch special plate with chow mein, and my mother had lemon chicken with fried rice special plate. Our server brought out the plates within 5-10 minutes after ordering it. Food quality was good. I really liked the Lemon Chicken, the Fried Rice, and both me and my mother really liked their salad and soup. The Chow Mein was a little more on the wet side than I had liked, and the Sichuan Beef wasn't spicy at all. But couple of things. One, you could have asked the server to tell the chef to make it very spicy which I did not know how spicy the dish was going to be since this was my first time ordering it. Or two, just ask for hot chili paste and she will bring a bottle out for you which was what I did. Ambience was good today. Again, we did come later in the afternoon so good chance we missed the busy lunch crowd. Easy to get to location Just right off Peabody behind Weinershnitzel hot dog place. Very dated interior - dark and depressing. Not a place I'd go to have a meal. Ordered combo chow mein which was bland and just noodles in a light brown sauce - no flavor at all. Same for the Mongolian beef - only saving grace was a lot of beef that was tender. The only flavor was the red chili peppers. Cooked in the same old fashioned brown sauce. The food reminded me of the old fashioned American Chinese food, i.e. cooked for Americans who don't like strong flavors or spicy food. Needless to say I won't go back. NOT RECOMMENDED! read more

Decided to finally try this spot as I've heard good things about their soups especially when being sick. I ordered take out through the phone and they let me know my order would be ready in 10 minutes. Wow so fast! I ordered the Lemon Chicken lunch plate and the Broccoli Beef lunch plate as well as egg drop soup for my husband since he's sick. We brought the food home and it was still pretty hot! We always worry that our food wouldn't be as hot after driving from the restaurant to home so we were impressed we didn't have to reheat it. My husband ate a good amount of the soup and said how it helped his throat! As for my lemon chicken, I definitely devoured it but I have had better lemon chicken plates before. I will definitely come back and maybe try something else on their menu because they have so many options! I will also make sure to bring my debit or credit card in handy next time since their Apple Pay seems to be glitchy and they don't take American Express cards. My mom and step dad visit this place weekly and absolutely love it. I came for the first time this week. It was really good! And the price is really reasonable. For my mom and I to get lunch which Includes, rice or chow mein, an entree, an egg roll and a cream cheese puff it was $26 for both of us. The food was really good. It didn't taste salty or greasy. It was a large amount of food as well. There were plenty of people having lunch, so it's clearly a pretty popular place. The service was great too. They know my mom and came up and chatted with her. It was nice to see they remembered the customer. If your in the area, make sure and give this little place a try. read more

Pedicure done and walked next door to this delightful place. Staff is very courteous and friendly. We sat down and enjoyed lunch dinner/linner...lol Cheese puffs, egg rolls, fried rice, mushroom beef, egg foo young, and soup....mmm.... Very quiet inside...I enjoyed my time eating with my bestie. We've been coming here on occasions, especially during Halloween. It became our family tradition to have dinner here after Trick 'o Treating and whenever we're craving for Chinese cuisine. This restaurant has been a staple in Vacaville. Mind you, this is the only Chinese restaurant that has the most awesome and friendliest owners and staff. They remember their customer no matter how long it's been since you came in, and when they ask how you are, you can feel the sincerity. I always feel at home here. I also love the warm and cozy atmosphere of the place. When it comes to food, the taste is on point. I love every dishes I have tried on the menu. And this day, we've got Chicken Corn Soup, Double Bean Curd in Spicy Garlic Sauce, Orange Chicken (sauce on the side, because one of our kids love the plain breaded chicken pieces), Mu Shu Pork, Chicken Chow Mein-no vegetables and plain rice. Ordered ahead for pick up to get some combination fried rice. Restaurant was about half full at 1:30 on a Saturday. My food was ready earlier than expected and I was in and out in less than five minutes. As you can see from the picture, it was HEAPING with food. So disappointed! I was expecting the quality I had almost a year ago. I ordered *Sesame chicken (chefs special) which really was sweet and sour chicken with a little bit of sesame seeds sprinkled on it *egg foo young that had an extremely sweet sauce instead of the brown savory sauce *wor wonton soup with the veggies that were uncooked and the wontons were very doughy. Even the chicken mu shu had such large chunks of chicken in it that it couldn't roll up in the rice cake without out it tearing.I will not go back or ever recommend Wah Shine again. I ordered over the phone for pickup and she read it back correctly so it's the quality. I raved about the food here again so disappointed . read more

Some pros about my recent visit 01/2021 -the hostess that took my order was great, she allowed me to tweak my order -pickup was on-time -food was great. I prefer the honey walnut to be more crispy (I requested to me crispier but that didn't help). -each of the containers were heavy with food (I loved that) it was enough for 2 meals. OMG! This is by far my favorite place in the world to get Chinese! I started going to Wah Shine when they had there restaurant in Citrus Heights, Ca back in the 1980s! Same menu, same GREAT FOOD! I drive nearly two hours each way in traffic to get my "fix"! If they had a restaurant near Roseville I'd eat there every single day! The restaurant is normal Chinese Restaurant vibe, nothing "FANCY" but clean & well kept! Large tables and booths. Very fairly priced! Now, on to the FOOD ..... I recommend the egg rolls, pork pan fried pot stickers, BBQ Pork Chow Mein, BBQ Pork Fried Rice, Sweet & Sour Chicken, all of the soups & appetizer's, but my two FAVORITE DISHES that I can only get here.....DRUM ROLL PLEASE.....the Peking Beef and THE HOT PEPPER CHICKEN DICE (it is only listed on the lunch menu but they will make it any time by request, and I say REQUEST!!! But BEWARE! They will tell you it's spicy and that is an understatement! I always ask for it MILD with an extra side of the thick & delicious Sweet & Sour Sauce (Trust me, if you accidentally eat one of those death peppers, the S&S Sauce helps the pain in your mouth! This is my Go To place for some great food! I make it a point to pick up their Won Ton soup when I am ill or don't want to cook LoL I am in Vacaville several times out of the month and make it a point to grab a small container before jumping on the freeway. Additionally they also have other entrees that are Amazing! I had dinner the other night there. And was promptly seated. Water was quickly served as we were sitting and orer was taken withing 3 minutes?!?! I think I blinked, had a few swallows of water and Boom here comes the order (seriously 5 min tops!) It's a hit & missed. Last Friday, I was craving for MoShu for it reminds me of our fresh Lumpia. I decided just to call for take-out. Kinda hard to read the Menu order in the Phone so I asked if they have the $12.99 Special for dinner. Came to find out it's now $19.99 for 2 choices. So I picked beef broccoli & chicken almond that comes in Wonton soup w/ rice or fried rice. Fried egg rolls & cheese puff. And Moshu as side order. Total of $60 including tip. For some reason the food I got was bland & not too good. When I got there food was ready & I took the take-out Menu. I saw that I could have just upgrade my order with Moshu by adding a dollar instead of paying more than $10 for a side order. To sum it up I don't go back to a Resto that I can cook better. It needs more seasoning to make it flavorful. read more

Very impressed. We stopped in for lunch. The service was impeccable. The food was really good. It was served quickly and a healthy portion that was fairly priced. There were 4 of us, we had lemon chicken (5/5), sweet & sour shrimp (3.5/5) and sesame beef (4.5/5). The fried rice we all preferred over the lo mien but the lo mien wasn't bad. There were some other folks we talked to who were local and said they come there all the time. Definitely will be back again!!!! read more
