Only once I had an issue with my food and the staff were very friendly and they made sure that I felt taken care of by offering me free chips n salsa. We went on A Friday night and parking was scarce. Once we finally found a parking spot we went in and ordered. there wasn't a lot of people so we walked right up. I don't eat here often and there were many food options, I guess you should know what you want. Wahoo's is the best, my overall favorite is the citrus slaw tacos with fish. Everything is delicious, and the staff is very friendly. At one time they switched chicken providers and it tasted really chewy but they have reset it back to its old provider. The place is very kid friendly and the stickers posted all around the store and sportsTVs surrounding your so everyone can see it makes it a really rad dining experience. They usually bring out the food in no less than 8 minutes which is to good to be true but it always tastes yummy. Okay, I'll start with the bad first but finish with the great things about Wahoo's. So what makes this place short of perfect is obviously an unjustified price point (for tacos, but not some of the other entrees), the fact that they use friggin burrito sized double wrapped flour tortillas for the tacos when you request flour, but use regular sized corn tortillas for the other tacos. (We flour lovers get double the flour, but at what cost to personal health?) The service is kinda sit down and have your food brought to you, with no service thereafter, there is no trash can as well so be sure to leave a 5-10% tip for the cleaning of your food, as well as the serving of your food. The food itself is great, the shrimp of good size, The fish of higher quality, and the preparation is healthy. The salsas are great. I visited this location with my wife on Saturday! 6/19/2020 around 4:30 pm! The food was good and Rosa at the front counter was very nice! Here is the problem- I decided to use the restroom before I left. The cook went in to relieve himself before me. He was in there less than a minute and I never heard the hand dryer go off and he came out with dry hands! What does tell you -poor personal hygiene during the time of the COVID 19 is unacceptable! No hand washing by the cook after using the bathroom matter! I don't recommend eating there because obviously food and personal hygiene is not a priority for the cooks and management team! read more

This is a pretty good chain restaurant that's great to go to on a quick lunch break during your work day or with the family on a weekend. I'll start off by saying that my mom never eats at these types of restaurants; and she enjoyed it! First time at this Wahoo's, since its a chain I imagine they are all pretty much the same. Service was great, very friendly and courteous staff. I ordered 2 grilled fish tacos and my mom got 2 enchiladas with the banzai veggies. Food came out pretty quick so that was a big plus since we were hungry. Seeing the low price on the tacos I expected to get some meager portions and end up still hungry....not so! Dont come here during lunch hour on a weekday. the parking and business crowd is ridiculous. i only come here as a last resort if im already in the plaza working out at the gym and i have to meet someone for lunch. i've had the regular chicken kale kai salad which was really good and filling. but now they have a slim kale kai salad that was posted on the wall. so i asked the cashier what the difference was between the slim kale kai and the regular kale kai salad. she had no clue. so i ordered it anyway (with tofu this time) so i didnt hold up the line. apparently, they just take the tortilla chips out (-_-), the price was $8.99. if you want a fancy looking salad, order for dine-in, because when it's take out, it just looks like a box of a mess. read more

For two years I lived in the bay area--a region that totally dismisses all chain restaurants. I remember distinctly asking about a Chinese restaurant that had three locations in San Francisco only for it to be dismissed as "just a chain restaurant." Seriously...three locations in the whole United States. The religious war against chains is not all bad. It makes for a lot of very tasty food and a sense of place--of exclusivity to the food you are eating. But the one negative is that bay area locals will never experience the convenience of a truly superior chain like Wahoo's. It's not bay area style Mexican food. It's not even SoCal style mexican food. I'm not sure what style it is, but it works and it works well. My usual is the spicy chicken wet green burrito with white beans. The style is pretty original as well. Very indie-skater, very SoCal. But at the same time, not pretentious or self-conscious. Just cool. I don't live in the bay any more, so good food is a little harder to come by. But Wahoo's is one of those things that I can't go too long without. And fortunately, there are a number of locations with no noticeable difference in quality. read more

I have not been to a Wahoo's since I use to drive to Huntington Beach in high school... Tonight, my husband and I ventured to the Irvine Spectrum to partake in the gym and a little shopping. We wanted to get dinner and make sure we were making healthy choices and had planned on just heading to Subway, but instead found ourselves at Wahoo's. The experience was quite enjoyable. I had the Wahoo's Salad with veggies and spicy fish and my husband had the carnitas burrito with brown rice and black beans. He enjoyed the passion tea and I downed the water. I really liked the bonzai veggies that I added to my salad. I chose balsamic and the cilantro dressing on the side, but really didn't need either one. If I had to choose dressing again, I would go with the balsamic. Wahoo's fit our casual dress and mood. We did discuss the limited brand capability of the restaurant filled with stickers and a surfer/skater laid back quality perfect for a lazy California day. Could you imagine eating at a Wahoo's in Fargo? Or maybe it would be unique and a hit... The service was friendly and it wasn't too busy that there weren't good seats and only messy tables. My husband was also excited that the lady behind us in line hit on him (she just asked him a question, and joked a little, but who am I to dash a dream). We felt we made decently healthy choices without actually seeing the calorie, fat and fiber intake. It only took my boyfriend and I 4 years living across the street to finally stop in for dinner. We always say we're going to try it out but just never got around to it. First impression is that the place has awesome decor. It's very trendy and has a good vibe. Fortunately there was no line and we ordered our food quickly. I ordered a salmon bowl and my boyfriend did the 2 taco plate. We also shared an order of carnitas nachos. (Plus 2 beers!) we wanted to sit outside because it was a beautiful day, but unfortunately they don't allow alcoholic beverages outside. Our food came super quick and the service was great. Overall, the food was alright. I was mostly disappointed with the nachos. They seemed to be just chips with melted cheese on them and not much else. The upside was that my salmon bowl was delicious (just wish it didn't come with mushrooms) lastly, we got a $5 off coupon for spending over $30 which was pretty cool. okay what was I thinking? I should've stuck with the regular, the Maui Bowl. It was originally what I was going to order until I saw their "Special" on the board. I had the steak burrito and didn't like it. It had so much more greens inside than anything else. So for this visit, 3 stars. Next time, I'll stick with the fave! It seems as though all the girls at work are on the Weight Watchers diet and all of the girls are counting their points and omitting carbs.... I've heard people bitch in the past that they can't understand the staff because of their heavy accents... Whatever.. It's incredible that Wahoo's can provide the same quality and consistency of good food at all of their locations (53, can you believe it???) I've been to this location a couple of hundred times (ok, maybe 40 times). The food is always fast and accurate and most importantly, it is good! Plus the staff is very nice, always making sure that you have everything you need during your meal. (Be sure to tip!!!) Today, we went to dinner at this location. It was empty, not a single person asides from the staff. I had the usual #4 combo, cajun spiced fish burrito and chicken enchilada with brown rice and spicy white beans w/ extra salsa and mr lee's. I only recently started to order the brown rice, but the white ahi rice is so much tastier. The beer specials are cheap and cold. I love Wahoo's! Random thought, but have you noticed how much calories are in a combo? Holy crap, my combo dinner and beer was 1292 calories. It's been a long time since I've eaten at Wahoo's. So wha happened? I remember loving the #1 fish tacos with black beans, so that's what I ordered. I split the filling between the two tortillas like always, but I think the tortillas were reheated or something 'cause they fell apart. The cabbage was unappealingly pale. The fish wasn't all that. The rice was clumpy and sorta cold. Wahoos is a hit or miss on what you order. It is one of the most white washed Mexican food place next to El Torito. Most of the stuff here is pretty bland as far a real Mexican food goes. I get that they are kinda of trying to be healthy...I guess? I would steer clear of the Fish Tacos here, unless you cover them in salsa they can be dry. I brave the parking and crowds because I love the food. However, the service could definitely use some work. I walked in and up to the phone/online order register and didn't even get an acknowledgement. Mind you-I was the only one in line. Then, I'm looked at like I'm an idiot because I'm standing over there. The cashier calls me over to the regular register and asks me what I want. Its wahoos. That is about it. and everyone seem to know what is good and what is not. Its one of the OC spots. I like their rice, Lees spicy garlic sauce(ask for it when you order... its free). their blacked anything is tasty. chicken or fish. You have to ask for extra salsa and such, but they dont show any attitude to give you extras. Price - Cheap and affordable, doesn't break the bank. Service - Typical for any establishment like this. Environment - Beach theme with a specialization in surfing. Not sure if this were the food I'd want to be eating out on the sand. So anyways, I've been to Wahoo's a few times but one time, I must've gotten the wrong thing because I ended up throwing up that night -- I was the only one in my group to use the silverware actually. It didn't hit me until after we finished the movie that we caught that afternoon (Ocean's Twelve while that one theatre was still there). Love wahoos! This place is always a good healthy option. They have a lots of options and ways you get great flavor and being healthy. You can alwAys see the the plate in not greasy after you eat. After a long day of kayaking a bunch of us decided to grab some Wahoo's fish tacos. It definitely hit the spot. I love how they had the rice with the fish tacos. I can't believe another reviewer complained about having too much rice. You can never have too much rice and the fish tacos really complimented the serving. It also helps knowing the owner. The three brothers are really altruistic and grew up in the surf culture. They really know their stuff. The owners are super-cool guys. Altruistic and great businessmen? Good product? I used to come here and get the banzai bowl with tofu. Apparently now this combination is popular enough to have its own name: the "wafu bowl". So now I get the wafu bowl. The tofu and veggies are cooked in the ubiquitous teriyaki sauce, and it's a thing of beauty. Well, actually, it's not much to look at, just veggies and tofu on rice with beans. (I highly recommend the white rice and spicy white beans.) But it's simple and scrumptious. The staff here is super attentive. They usually check in at your table at least once after bringing out your food, and they're quick to clear the plates away when you're done. The tea is hit or miss, and being an amateur iced tea connoisseur I get unhappy about this. Wahoo's definitely puts forth an effort, however. There's a wide variety of sweeteners, plenty of lemon, and if the tea tastes funky they're usually happy to brew a new batch. Major kudos for that. The biggest problem with this particular Wahoo's is that it's impossible to come here for lunch, because it's in a shopping center that doesn't have nearly enough parking.
