Driving to visit family in San Diego over the Xmas weekend, I had the hankering for a lunch detour. Being from Las Vegas, we have no Wahoo's in sight. Wouldn't you know it, a little over an hour away from San Diego what do we see from the 15 freeway? A big sign saying 'Wahoo's Fish Tacos' on it! Thanks, Norco, CA! We got off the drive to get us some fresh eats. Good thing too...because on Xmas eve Wahoo's closes at 3 PM! Just made the closing time by half an hour. I like the relaxing, chill vibe you get from Wahoo's. Reminds me of the little eateries back home in Hawaii where all the skaters and surfers hang out. I find it pretty endearing. I like the menu, nothing overly complicated but most everything is done well. We usually get an order of the Maui Onion rings (ah, my hometown) and this time they came out nice and fried right, not overly oily or mushy at all. Me, missing fresh fish (hard to get from the desert in LV) ordered my usual, the Banzai Burrito with mahi mahi, rice, black beans, Banzai veggies (peppers, onions, zucchini, broccoli, mushrooms, and cabbage), fresh salsa, and extra teriyaki sauce. I also like to douse it with a little Tapatio hot sauce...so tasty! Totally my fave when I come here! We also ordered the No. 2 combo platter, one with the enchiladas, and one with two of their famous fish tacos. Both platters come with rice and black beans or spicy cajun white beans. Muy delicioso! The fresh grilled fish with the salsa, and the cold shredded cabbage on warm corn tortilla really hit the spot. Great lunch indeed. Driving the last hour to San Diego after that was a breeze. I love Wahoo's. I've never been disappointed with anything here. It's almost like a healthier option of Mexican food (though not traditional Mexican food, and depending on what you order, of course.) I really love their grilled fish tacos with brown rice and black beans. They have really delicious salsa. SERIOUSLY, really good. I also just recently tried their wafu bowl, which is marinated tofu and vegetables on a bed of brown rice and black beans. It was so tasty! OH, AND, they also have really good chicken tortilla soup. And three different kinds of iced tea. I have nothing bad to say about this place. Great atmosphere, food, and service. Definitely one of my favorite chains. Possibly my all time favorite. read more

I havent eaten at wahoos in probably over 10 years. But after reading Travis Barkers book, I was CRAVING fish tacos. So I ordered for pick up and after speaking with two different associates, my order was taken. I went to pick it up and he read my order (2 fish tacos) back to me, I paid and then left. When I got back home and half way through my first taco I thought to myself, "wow, this place has gone downhill...their fish takes like chicken, its extremely bland".... and then I realized they gave me the wrong order.... chicken instead of fish. Normally I would give two stars for an experience like this, but when I called and told the cashier my situation, he was very apologetic and polite and offered me free FISH taco's next time I come in. Mistakes happen, and I believe that true customer service is revealed in how mistakes are handled. And this place was great. So two stars for my experience and overall taste. And one star added for the customer service.... Plus, Travis Barkers drums are on the ceiling for you to look at, which is pretty cool. read more

First time trying Wahoo's and I must say it's pretty good for the price. I liked how when you walk it, it's a beachy feel with all the stickers and wooden stand and the menu is on the wall right before the cashier so you can take your time with what you want, instead of feeling pressure of standing right in front with the cashier looking at you. I got the bowl with white rice, spicy chicken and black beans and it was a pretty decent dish. I wish the chicken were a little bit spicier and they gave more pico de gallo with it. The chicken also somewhat looked like microwave packaged chicken, not like freshly made grilled chicken. Also the proportions for chicken to rice were were off, I had way more rice than I had chicken. My boyfriend got the maui teriyaki beef bowl and the flavor for that was pretty good. I wish I tried the fish tacos that it's famous for but the bowl was still ok. The food came out really fast, I'm not sure if it's just as fast on a normal business day because when we came it was pretty empty with not a lot of people there. While entering the restaurant I noticed on the door that if you purchase a meal for more than $10.99 you were given a drink. After placing my order I asked about my free drink. He said that offer was for July 1 to July 6. I told him today's the 9th and the sign is still posted. He said that they had forgotten to remove the sign. He also said he couldn't honor the drink because his register no longer had the feature for the free drink. It had already been 3 days!! He refused to honor what was advertised. read more

I wish they had a drive thru, I'm always in a rush to get good food but fast and usually on my lunch break. I Love their Salmon enchiladas with green sauce -delicious. I got this with black beans and white rice. Beans\rice are ok, nothing fantastic and I understand especially with seafood that it much be cooked for a certain amount of time, but be prepared to wait at least 15 for your food-the food it fresh and never over or under cooked. I was not impressed with the mango tea, and will probably opt for a sofa next time. Staff is friendly and restaurant is clean. I will definitely go back. read more

Great staff great service wonderfull selection for everyone even if you dont like fish there is Chicken & Beef as well as vegatarian opptions. This location i have never had any issues. First of all I love Wahoo's. But what sets this location apart from the rest is the customer service. I work on a project close by and I come here often for lunch. They're welcoming and you can tell they love what they're doing. One particular employee that stood out to me? was Alfredo. That man is the definition of a hard worker. He greets every single person, asks what he can help with and always has a smile on his face. My order was taken by Miriam who was equally as great and greeted me with a smile. This is my all time favorite spot to go to after class since it's right up the street from my school I usually get the #2 with two tacos and a side of rice and beans but after I tried their spicy chicken enchiladas I can never go back! Their tacos are delish but their enchiladas are my absolute favorite! The staff is always so nice, very welcoming and attentive. Their churro chips are a hit or miss depending on who makes them I guess, but when they are made right they make a yummy sweet treat. read more

Vegetarian banzai bowl was what the person at the counter suggested to this first timer and I was not disappointed. Had the Fish as my meat option and although I would get it again it was a little on the dry side. Teriyaki sauce fixed the dryness problem. Will definitely be coming back. read more

I loooooooooooooove the fish tacos. I come here all the time, at least once a week when I'm in the area! The food is always consistent and the staff is friendly. I've always wanted to try this restaurant. I LOVE fish tacos!!! I assumed they specialized in fish tacos and offered mainly fish tacos (different varieties of fish tacos). There was only one type of fish taco. I was not very impressed with the fish tacos. They seemed a little bland, bitter and dry. Maybe it was just an isolated incident. There should also be a condiment bar with salsa, onions, cilantro, etc. in my opinion. The service was great though and the restaurant was clean. read more

hmmm i think wahoo's is alright food but its kind of overpriced for what you get i got a chicken bowl and it only comes w/ rice, beans and chicken, and i didn't even want beans. so it was about 8 bucks for just a bed of rice and chicken pieces on top? eh not worth it. they dont have a salsa bar or anything. and all the toppings are extra. i'd rather go to Rubios or Chipotle if i wanted good food at a better price read more

They specialize in smothering green sauce, instead of white sauce, onto their Wahoo/Mahi-Mahi foundation. It is a mildly-picante cilantro-seasoned salsa that yearns to marry the charbroiled or blackened textures, mixed with lettuce and pico de gallo. That's a mouthful, and so are the tacos.
