Unfortunately, the service we received from our server, Christina V., was disappointing and took away from what we hoped would be a special experience. When I asked Christina if the restaurant did anything for birthdays, she simply replied, "Just flan," and walked away. She never asked whose birthday it was, whether we would like the flan, or if I wanted her to put in a birthday request. I was surprised by the lack of interest or effort, especially since I was clearly asking because we were celebrating someone at our table. Throughout our meal, Christina was not very welcoming, engaging, or hospitable. At times, it honestly felt as though our table was a nuisance or that she had some sort of issue with us. We weren't expecting anything extravagant, just friendly service and a little acknowledgment that we were there celebrating a special occasion. Despite our experience, we still left Christina a 20% tip because we believe in tipping our servers. So I was looking to tryout the new place across the street from Rodrigo's , Frida's restaurant but saw a very long line and decided not to wait and ended going to Rodrigo's. The place was looking good and the atmosphere was pretty nice. They had mariachi which was not expected because it was around 11am. I ordered the chile relleno with chile rojo plate and my wife order the chilaquiles.. My food was ok not what I expected I was hoping for something tastier. My wife's chilaquiles were actually good. I honestly wanted menudo but for some weird reason they don't serve menudo here.. I don't recommend this place because the food is not great and the service was average. My michelada drink was ok just nothing to brag about ,I've had better.. Go here if you like bland average Mexican food. read more

We come here frequently and have always had a good experience, which is exactly why today's experience was so unbelievably disappointing. After today, I will seriously question whether we come back. Our waiter was terrible from start to finish. He was slow to come to our table, slow to take our drink order, slow to take our food order, slow to refill our drinks, and somehow even slower when we asked for a booster seat for our baby. We had to ask MULTIPLE times for a booster seat before he finally brought one. Then came the food. It took OVER 30 MINUTES from the time we ordered for our food to reach the table. This was TWO adults and ONE kids meal. Thirty-plus minutes. That's ridiculous. And after waiting all that time, the food wasn't even hot when it came out. Normally, we absolutely would have sent it back, but our baby was already getting increasingly angry and hungry after being forced to wait that long. We weren't about to sit there for another 30 minutes waiting for replacement food, so we ate it. Then, when we were finished, we waited for our check. And waited. And waited some more. Eventually, we had to flag down one of the busboys just to get the check. At that point, I was done. I went up front and paid because apparently getting our waiter to come back to our table was asking too much. I understand that a large party came in after us. What I don't understand is how having a large party apparently gives you an excuse to completely forget that your other customers exist. We were sitting right there. We shouldn't have had to repeatedly ask for basic things, wait over 30 minutes for food, eat lukewarm food because we couldn't reasonably wait any longer, and then hunt someone down just to PAY. And honestly, it was pretty obvious where his priorities were. He had a big table, and apparently our little table wasn't worth his time. So congratulations -- he can get his tip from the large party he was so busy attending to, because he certainly didn't earn one from us. What makes this even more frustrating is that WE COME HERE REGULARLY. We've always enjoyed coming here and have had good experiences in the past. One bad server can absolutely ruin an otherwise nice dinner, and tonight he managed to do exactly that. We came here to have a nice dinner, not spend the entire evening waiting for someone to remember that we're customers. We grew up coming to Rodrigos, we love their Sunday brunches, live music and upbeat environment but we went during the week for their lunch special & it was an over worked server trying her best to get to every table & almost inedible food. I honestly should have sent my plate back but I felt bad. The rice was dry & crunchy as though it what been scrapped from the bottom of the pot & my shredded beef tacos had a couple pieces of shredded beef hidden under a pile of cheese (& I love cheese but this was too much to overcompensate for the lack of meat) the meat was pure fat, chewy & hard to swallow. We have been here many times and it's been a pretty good experience, but today was awful! After we were seated we were ignored for a long time, the waiter finally brought us some burnt chips - salsa, and took our order. We ate a few chips but we wanted better ones, since we couldn't get the waiters attention, we asked the busser (Harvey) for some better chips, he got them for us, but glared at us and kept giving us dirty looks! I got a 2 item combination: Crispy shredded steak taco, cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. Lots of cheese on the enchiladas, tacos and over the beans just how I like it. Service was quick on Saturday lunch time. The ambiance is amazing, the architecture of the restaurant is really nice. Also on the outside is an amazing patio, perfect for celebrations. We got there a little late so everyone was starting on their drinks and had out there food order in but the waitress was kind and got our order drinks in as soon as we sat down. I ordered the combination plate with the chili Colorado and a chicken crispy taco($19). Our food took about 10 min to come out. The food was so good and plentiful that I took a good amount home. The chicken tortilla soup was DIVINE! It was hearty and a meal on its own. The Mexican Caesar salad was .... weird. The dressing was sweet. Like Cool Whip sweet. Not what I expected for a salad. The chicken was very very gamey. No seasoning AT ALL and VERY DRY. I took it home to try to fix it, but the chicken was just inedible. I had to throw it out. Something is VERY WRONG in the kitchen. I know the owner has been responding to similar reviews that these are family recipes, but y'all need to take a closer look at what is going on in the kitchen at the Corona location. Your chef doesn't even salt ANYTHING. I am not one to salt my food but even the chips needed salt. The salsa needed salt and some lime. It was literally mushed tomatoes. I asked for the spicy salsa and it was mushy peppers, but still NO FLAVOR. One person in our party ordered a margarita. He's had one at this location before, many times before, and he couldn't even handle one sip. It was all sugar (simple syrup). He had to flag our server down and ask her to re-make in, in which she protested and said that's just the recipe. He asked her politely again to remake it with significantly less simple syrup. When it came back, it was fine. Owners, management: if you're reading this.....your dining room was EMPTY at 7pm on a Saturday night. The reviews are saying the same thing. Something is VERY WRONG in your kitchen. Go spend a week there, side by side with your kitchen staff. Put a spoon in each dish and taste test them. Food was okay. Dont recommend getting dessert. I ordered the mud pie and it was frozen solid. They got it from their deep freezer and slapped it on a plate. There werent many options and I think they ran out of some choices. Before you say I could of sent it back, I would have but our server was not around often enough for that to be possible. The restaurant wasn't busy. We did have a reservation for 8 I put a note that it was my dads bday. My 5 stars go to our server Desiree. She has been our server several times and each time she is friendly and very personable. She works incredibly hard juggling many tables at the same time as well as outside dining too. If I could give 1 star it would be to the bar manager as he came by, took my sons nearly finished soda and asked him if he'd like another which my son replied yes. He then disappeared only to return 15 mins later asking if we needed anything else. No mention of the soda he obviously forgot about and when I said yes he'd like the soda you forgot about he just said Oh Ok... no Oh I'm sorry or offer any type of apology. I was actually shocked to find out he was a manager, I honestly thought he was new and didn't know customer service skills yet.
