This place is hit or miss.....sometimes the food is good, sometimes it leaves me wanting more..... They have a lot of healthy options on the menu as well as their calorie count avaliable...(I'm weird and I like things like that). If you're looking for healthy, you should order the wahoo salad with your choice of meat or fish, with cilantro dressing, the blackened fish tacos, or the tortilla soup. The bowls that they have are a big portion size and will fill you up.....I especially like the maui bowl....with black beans and whtie rice...but I usually get the kids size so I don't waste food. The rice and beans are a bit bland and plain, so I mix a whole thing of salsa in with them to spice them up a little. The employees are usually nice......there's one guy in particular. the guy that delivers the food, I forgit his name, but he is really really really nice...almost TOO nice.But it's good to know that the employees are genuinely happpy....(where do you ever see that these days?) Been to many Wahoo's and this one is on the bottom of my list! Ordered my food, local behind me orders and gets his food in 3 minutes. I waited over 15 minutes and still no food! Nobody in there...8pm, only ordered $20 worth the food!. Ask the guy that took my order if i could get some chips and salsa while i wait for my order...twice. Second time, finally shakes his head NO! I frequent Wahoos and order the same thing every time. This time we placed our order as a group. I asked for 2 wet classic burritos with green sauce and a side of rice and beans while my party ordered other items. The male cashier repeated our order and missed a couple things. So we repeated our order and also repeated that we wanted the burritos wet with green sauce. They start bringing food to our table and we ask the waitress if they have cheese, she replies no. We go to the front counter and ask for cheese and the manager teaches us to order it at the counter next time. Once we got our burritos they were completely wrong. They were not wet, they had the beans and rice inside the burrito and not on the side. We tell the waiter and he says he'll fix it. I go up to the counter to clarify with the cashier. The cashier was really rude saying that I did not tell him that's what I wanted. I was extremely nice and civil this whole time but he was being very condescending. I clarified that a classic burrito was meat and lettuce inside, no beans or rice. He said that's not what I said but he would fix it. I go back to my table and a couple minutes later the cashier comes and embarrasses me in front of my group saying that I didn't tell him I wanted a wet burrito and it was an extra $2.16. I was so embarrassed that I started fumbling for my wallet while he was staring at me. After paying him, we wait for our burritos. When they came to the table they were still wrong. All they did was put green sauce on the old burrito and it still had the beans and rice inside. Embarrassed to say something again we just ate it. I work in retail and I completely understand that mistakes happen but I have never had anyone go out of their way to embarrass me or tell me I'm wrong. The cashier and manager embarrassed me, they treated me rudely and had no regard to correcting a mistake. I had such a bad experience but I was very polite and kind to them even when I was frustrated. Unfortunately, they couldn't do the same for me. read more

I'm not sure what has happened to this wahoo's location....but, stay away. They started using a different type of beef. The other day we ordered three Maui bowls and all three were inedible. The meat tasted as though it had been frozen. Thawed. Frozen. And thawed again. Disgusting. I will not be back. I used to love wahoo's. Great fish and shrimp tacos. Delicious enchiladas with green and red sauce. Top notch service especially to the guy who served our food and happily got us more salsa, limes, and hot sauce. Been going there for many, many years and I still like their take on baja food! Good and sometimes decent quality for a decent price.

I am a fish taco connoisseur and literally get them when ever and where ever on the menu. I have been to 20 states and eaten fish tacos in the fanciest of restaurants down to street vendors and Wahoos is still # 1. The taco to get is Blackened Fish Taco a la carte with citrus slaw, and the rest of the regular ingredients (sauce, etc.). You MUST ask them to cook it in the Mr Lee's sauce and get Mr Lee's sauce on the side. That is the final touch and is the perfect fish taco. I only eat one of the two tortillas an the flavor is perfect that way...also takes 75 calories out of the picture. read more

I am reviewing the San Clemente Wahoo's only. If you've been to Wahoo's you know what to expect. I usually get the fish tacos or Maui bowl; both are great. The food is good and the prices are ok (around $8-$9 for whatever plate I normally get). The only issue I have with this Wahoo's is when I place an order over the phone. If you call in to place an order, call in about 5-10 minutes before you think you need to, because no matter when you call, you will be placed on hold right away. Wahoo's usually has a ton of people working in the restaurant, but for some reason they have the people that take the orders from the in-restaurant customers also take the phone orders, while other workers are standing around in the back. Therefore you only get to speak with someone when they are not busy taking orders from people inside (which rarely happens). Other than this the food and service is great. read more

Always a great dinning experience at this and all Wahoo's locations, with high quality fresh and healthly fare along with friendly and fast service. Food is quickly and cheerfully delivered to your table and wait staff checks in upon diners often during the meal. My favorites are the salmon entree, the SCReaM'n burrito, the Bonzai Burrito wet and the #2 combo. At a restaurant chain known for its cheerful, very friendly and engaging staff, a special mention needs to be made about the server Chris at the San Clemente location whose infectious smile and friendliness stand out among 10+ Wahoo's locations I've eaten at. He oftentimes brings me samplings of new fresh salsas. I alway look forward eating when Chris is working at Wahoo's SC. Mahalo! read more

Truthfully, I can only review the 2 fish taco combo platter ...cajun style. It's all I get with no plans to mix it up (learned that lesson at Pedro's when I strayed from the fish). I find that Wahoo has more and better quality fish than other chains. The downside...the shredded cabbage is about 4x as much as needed and the tacos can be a bit dry. They could easily solve the latter if they added a mayo-esque sauce (chipotle or something) like the one used at Chronic. That green sauce they are using here is pretty weak. All in all, I think the staff and atmosphere are very nice and the food is fairly healthy and quick for the price. I could eat this often and it feels fresh and light. read more

This review is for the amazing staff at the Wahoo's fish taco in San Clemente... the at all wahoo's is pretty much the same but the service in san clemente is the best! I wish I were writing a better review but as a wahoos fan this wahoos consistently disappoints. I'm too a point that if I don't physically go through the order item by item to see if/ what was wrong with it I will not have my full order when I get home. I'm 3 to go orders in a row that they have screwed up. Today we ordered two salads and they gave us no dressing what so ever. When I go to substitute salsa as my forced salad dressing replacement I find they provided no salsa for our entire order (which included chips and salsa). I'm a huge wahoos fan in general but am wildly disappointed with the quality of service of this location. It's very frustrating to pay for a family dinner only to get home and find that you have to patch together half your order with what I can find in the fridge. read more

If you love mankind as we know it, do not visit this restaurant. Let me start with the low quality of food. The unauthentic Mexican cuisine tastes as if they just pulled it out of the freezer. Overpriced and overrated, this scam of an eating institution should be burnt to the ground. Now the waiters; the overpayed insects that touch my food. One of the most disgusting meals I've eaten was made by these scum. When I took a bite of this bland burrito, I found myself with a mouthful of disgust and hair, yet no satisfaction. This is a regular lunch place for me and my co-workers. I've never been disappointed and even when they are busy the service is fairly quick and all of the staff are super friendly and helpful. Tip for hot sauce lovers: ask your server for some Cholula sauce and they'll bring it out. They don't normally have it on the tables. read more

I give this one star because I can't give zero stars. I have been a fan of wahoos for a long time now but for some reason this location specifically can't seem to get it together. The first incident I ordered a Maui bowl with steak and when it arrived it had beef which is fine, everyone makes mistakes but when I told them they told me I was wrong and order the beef which I clearly remember ordering steak. Then I came another time to grab a quick bite with my boyfriend before he had to leave for work. We ordered who Maui bowl then sat down. A big group of about 4 adults and five kids comes in and ordered after us, they got all their food before we got ours. We had waited over 30 minuets and the waiter just kept telling us it was coming, we finally had to say something to them and had to take it to go because we couldn't wait any longer. Then the last time I ordered yet another Maui bowl but it barley had any beans or steak, it was so ridiculous. I went up to them and showed them that the only thing I was eating was rice. They looked like I was crazy and were so rude. They finally said they would give me some extra beans and when they brought it they said they will only do it this once. They don't have to worry about doing it another time because this was the last and final time I'm ever eating here again. The staff is so incredibly rude all for except one waiter. read more
