Googled the closest taco place and saw the pictures. I had the steak tacos and my boyfriend had the ground beef tacos. Both were severely under season. The ground beef had the weirdest texture. Like it was fake. It didn't taste like real meat. The steak was tough and hard to bite through and didn't taste like authentic carne. Also got a side of rice and beans and the rice didn't have one grain of seasoning in it. If you are getting a beer at the place near by it's tolerable but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again. read more

I am not a fan of this restaurant. I've been here three times while attending a gaming group at the Hourglass bar next door. The first time, I had a steak burrito. The steak was tasty, but the rest of the food was off. It was filling, but didn't quite taste right, as other reviews have alluded to. I did have the fried ice cream tacos for dessert, which were pretty fantastic. Unperturbed, I decided to try something else on my next visit. This time, I decided to have nachos. The queso tastes too much like alcohol and not enough like cheese. The decried beans also have a really odd, almost rancid taste. They ruin the flavor of everything else in the same bite, and there wasn't much flavor there to begin with. I was extremely disappointed with this scone visit. I decided to give the restaurant one last try on my last visit. This time, I was seeing quite peckish, so I elected to have a chicken chimichanga. Once again, none of the food had much flavor other than the weird-tasting retried beans. I didn't even make it halfway through my chimichanga before I began to feel slightly ill. I stopped eating and threw the rest out. I will definitely be seeking alternative food options on my future visits to the bar. I give the place two stars because at least they don't screw up the fried ice cream tacos, but I'd stay far away from anything else. read more

Taco salad should never have rice and refried beans. That is the first time I ever had a taco salad with rice or refried beans. The meat was good but the rice and refried beans completely ruined my meal. I won't be back. For the price I would much rather go to Chipotle! read more

I love this place. I usually get the taco salad which comes in a fried tortilla and is always amazing. I switch it up every time, adding or removing various things and they always get it right. The service is prompt and friendly and the food is fantastic. Great quality and so fresh and tasty. They also have some self serve really yummy sauces you can add. If you've never been before you should know it is adjacent to a wonderful brewery and you can order your food here and they will bring it to you at the brewery. read more

Can a quesadilla have too much cheese? The answer is NO. Wako taco does everything they can to push the limit. It could have used some more carne asada but overall it was delicious. They have 2 sauces, hot and sweet. The hot was good, but the sweet was just ok. My date got the burrito with the carnitas and man that was really good too! Really big! The location is connected to Hourglass Brewery. They will bring your food in there if you want to sit there and grab a beer. If the front lot is full, there is more parking in the rear. read more

This is a pretty decent taco/Tex Mex spot located off of the busy part of Longwood. I came in for lunch super hungry and craving tacos. Based on previous reviews, I ordered the pork tacos. The employee behind the counter was very friendly and the food was out fairly quick. The tacos were good, the pork was a little too oily, but over all still good. I'm not an expert on how much tacos should cost, but for $7 (lunch price), I guess I was expecting some ah-mazing tacos. The food was good, but did not amaze me. The interior has a nice set up and a connecting brewery next door which I think is a genius idea for the two businesses. Although I felt the food was pricey, three tacos had me full and taco craving was satisfied. I don't know if I'd come here on a regular basis, but I would encourage others to stop by and try it out for themselves. read more

I didn't know nothing was an actual flavor. I ordered a chicken burrito and started eating some of the foil just to see if it would add some flavor. It didn't. I might give them another chance but if I do I'm bringing my own seasoning next time. Might bring extra and just leave them in the kitchen. Oh and please work on customer service. If you want a quesadilla that actually has lots of cheese in it this is the place to go!! The quesadilla is so big I usually end up taking some home. Their burritos and chimichangas are a good size and delicious too! They have a few choices of meat and all are good. Their mild sauce is sweet and I really like it. My husband likes their hot sauce. Pretty much everything we've had here (which is often) is good! The guys here have always been friendly. They are attached to Hourglass Brewery and will bring your food to you while you grab a good beer or two. So be sure to visit Wako Taco! read more

One of my favorite casual restaurants in the area. Each option can easily be made vegetarian and food is consistently good. I'm surprised by the negative reviews. The only thing they could improve in my opinion is the guacamole. I like thick and chunky guacamole but theirs is actually "wakomole"- thin and cream based. read more

For lunch I decided on a new to me taco place today. I just transferred to Longwood, so I'm exploring, this city is ripe with small joints like this. I got the taco (soft) it came with 3 tacos. I got steak, chicken and pork. I asked for no pick, but they put it on anyways, which was no big deal I just didn't want to deal with onion and dealing with the public. The tacos were amazing! I went here about a month ago, and had great night AFTER leaving so I didn't even think to write a review until I drove past it again yesterday. To start off, they wouldn't give us tap water. After we'd already ordered food. Even if they don't have filtered water to give us, I'm pretty sure they're legally required to give us unfiltered tap water without us having to pay for bottled water, and even if they're not, who the heck doesn't provide tap water? It's been years since I've been to any sort of eating establishment that operates that way, and we were paying customers at that point. Most places don't give it to you for "free", but do factor that in to the cost of their items (you know, just add $0.05, that should do it) We went next door to the bar and got some instead. For free. Next off, the food. It was good! Mostly. My girlfriend had some sort of fish taco that they had on special, and she absolutely loved it. For me however, my steak burrito, while large, really wasn't very flavorful, I probably should have gotten the pork since I know now that that's their specialty. We also got some Wakamole and chips. There were not a lot of chips (for the price), there was not a lot of Wakamole (for the price), and frankly it tasted and had the consistency of guac-powder-mix & water. Two stars for the atmosphere (pretty cool), the acceptable staff (besides the water), and the acceptable food. It costs 50% MORE than an equivalent meal at TFlats and we got slighly LESS food and much LESS satisfaction. We won't be back. I might have been willing to try their Choco Taco or Wako Taco on a return visit too, but oh well. P.S., Seriously though, install a filter and provide tap water. And ice. With a name like Wako Taco how can I not try? Let me say was I pleased, with the food and service. I happened to be next door at Hourglass Brewery when hunger called. There is a large door that connects both these business ( so clever taking the drunks money) I placed my order, they gave me a number and said I could go back to brewery and they would come to me. The food was exceptional and not overpriced and delivered with speed. Cant forget the Chips and Salsa, the Chips where seasoned and perfectly salted and CHEAP! If you are in the area give both this establishment and there neighbor next door, they are both great. read more

I've waited a while to try this spot as it seems like it's usually pretty busy. We went in for a late lunch, 3 of us in total. One had a burrito, it was a burrito, I mean it's kind of hard to mess up a burrito. He had the beef burrito with the toppings it comes with. He liked it. Hubby had soft tacos, beef was ok and chicken was dry and in desperate need of salt. I had chicken and steak. Steak has more flavor, but need some help in flavor but the texture was great and not chewy. Again the chicken, dry, dry, dry! Needed some serious flavor. I had to drown the tacos is sauce to get some flavor. We also ordered some chips with Queso and Pico. Pico and chips were great. Queso tasters like something you dip a pretzel in. Not chips. Whenever I order from Wako Taco, I get the taco salad. I usually make a lot of revisions and they accommodate and accurately execute every time. The salad has been tweaked overtime on Wako Tacos part in a positive way from the packaging/presentation to the flavor, showing me that they are constantly evolving and never settling. We decided to make a stop here for tacos on the way home from St. Augustine. I'm really glad that we did. My daughter and I had tacos, my husband had a chimichanga, and my little one had a quesadilla. We also ordered guac and chips. The staff/owners are very kind and accommodating. They suggested we try the meats before we decide on what we wanted and provided us samples. Then, they continued to check on us while we were eating. Customer service is A+. Everything is very well seasoned. From the seasoned chips and guac (which has strong cilantro and lime flavors and is more like a smooth purée sauce...it's a unique but wonderful version of guac). The carne asada and chicken are tender and have good flavor. But, the star of the place is the PORK. Wow. VERY flavorful. But, the tacos were still light and didn't feel to heavy. The chimichanga was a little different than the traditional version, with a more doughy texture...it was almost like a flash fried Mexican calzone. The kicker is the Hourglass brewery, which has an extensive beer selection, has an open door policy with Wako Taco. The interior doors are literally open between the two establishments and we were able to walk over to the brewery after we ordered our food and got beer to drink with our lunch. 4 years later and same amazing flavor! This place use to be my lunch to go place weekly. Their soft tacos (pork and chicken) are to die for. Ask for the sweet sauce to pour over it and you got yourself a winner! The port meat is so tender is basically melts in your mouth.
