I recently moved to Marin and the Walgreens pharmacy in downtown SR is ATROCIOUS.Their pharmacist technician lacks empathy and motivation!! Every time I go to this pharmacy there is some sort of problem or delay with my prescription. The pharmacy technician does NOTHING to try and resolve. Just says - come back later!!! I've had to take it upon myself to trouble shoot and get issues resolved that she could have handled with a simple call to another Walgreens pharmacist. I am officially moving my business to another pharmacy. Walgreens doesn't deserve any more chances and it is all based on this Pharmacist Technician at this location. Good riddens! read more

I have gone to this pharmacy for years, and I have loved the drive-thru and the extended hours. I've noticed the staff getting more and more busy the past couple of years and figured it was the stress and extra work due to Covid. But last week I was sent home with the WRONG medication. I was told I was being given a generic drug for something, and after 4 days and some unexpected side effects, found out the generic drug was a pain med (not what I was prescribed!) I realized because this different drug is not supposed to be taken when you have any alcohol. I had one glass of wine and was completely knocked out. Thank goodness I was not allergic to what they gave me. After hours of waiting in line and on hold, and talking to them in person, they insist the Dr. called in this wrong order. She did not. I brought in the handwritten prescription for the different drug in person. I have asked them to file an error report but who knows if they will. In the meantime, I'm heading to a different pharmacy from now on. read more

Why the hell do I continue to come back to this store with it's merry band of incompetents? Last time. I ordered a photo order online. I received an email that the order is ready. I go to the store to pick up. They can't find my order (this is the usual state of events here so no surprise). But I show him the email saying the order is ready. "That means nothing," says the clerk. Really? Then why the hell did I get it? He then tells me the one-hour service means nothing, too. Come back later when it's ready. Hmmmmmm...WHEN EXACTLY WILL THAT BE? I already got the email SAYING IT WAS READY. Will I be receiving another email saying "no, seriously. It's REALLY ready this time." Here's a thought. I have been going to Walgreen on 3rd for years so I familiar with all the people who work inside the pharmacy, however today was different I went to the drive-through as I have always do and there was someone in front of me and there was no one in the 2nd lane in which I stayed behind the person knowing I would be next, the person drive off and all of a sudden this car drive up in the 2nd lane and by time I reached the window I let the guy "Erick" know I was next do you know what that little shit did? He put up is hand in my face and I said to him I am next and he still ignore me and put his hand up to my face, in today societee a man treating a woman like that is unacceptably rather yet the guy who he was serving could have said to him she is next, but no he take the service and drive off. This is how other people get run over by after and no one can stand up and say it's wrong. I stand up for me, I tell him "Erick" to fuck himself, then he let me know if you want service you need to go around here is it a person with a underline condition and that's why the drive-through is there for people who have a underlying condition not to go into the pharmacy and make contact with other people. I did go around and talk to the pharmacies where she apologized to me the other 2 gentleman that was in the pharmacy do know me and said there sorry also this person have no reason to be in customer service if he cannot manage the public he should get out of the pharmacy. The pharmacy is not dependable. I have a specific medicine I need to take regularly, which I was originally able to get from them. I tried to use the telephone refill line, which was cheery and said it would be ready by 11am the next day. I came in the day AFTER it was supposed to be ready, however, and they couldn't even find it in the system, then ARGUED with me about it. Finally they refilled it with me waiting - but when I got home I found they had filled it with a GENERIC which has ingredients to which I am allergic. No mention of this at the time. I went back today and they said, "Oh yes, I told you it was a generic". No friggin' way. Then they tell me the medicine is on back-order. Had I known that at the beginning I could have found it elsewhere without being concerned of running out. So I said, "I'm not paying $70 for a medication I can't take". They said, "We'll refund it ONLY if you have the receipt (which I had already handed to them), but the Manager is not here and we can't process it until she is, tomorrow." It wouldn't even be so bad if they were not so belligerent about it, as if I am the problem. I am finding another pharmacy so I never have to deal with these moron's again. read more

This pharmacy has the WORST customer service I've ever encountered. Any time of the day or evening, they have one poor clerk handing the counter, phone and drive through, so the usual wait to pick up a prescription is over a half hour. Try calling on the phone to do a reorder: the phone system can't find the prescription, so they put you on hold for over 45 minutes, then it hangs up on you. Wow, Walgreens, get your act together or you'll go out of business. The store is a dump as well. It's Marin. Remodel it already. Needless to say, I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

If I could give a ZERO or a MINUS TEN rating for customer service I would. I dropped off a prescription with Walgreen's 3 weeks ago and realized today I hadn't heard back from them confirming it was ready. When I called, they informed me the prescription wasn't filled, they didn't know why there was a delay, and "unfortunately the prescription requires approval and pickup within a month" or I have to go back to my doctor and start the process again. The best part? The person on the pharmacy's phone says, "Sorry, but it wasn't me who didn't call you." Way to take responsibility for your actions Walgreens. This particular Walgreens is why I moved my business to Elephant Phamacy. I've been going to Walgreen's forever, wherever I've lived. It's been convenient, decent service, knowledgeable staff, it's a pharmacy...what more can one expect? Sadly, I have the joy of regular monthly prescriptions. EVERY SINGLE MONTH I would go to get the SAME boring prescriptions filled and they would time and again screw it up. Let me clarify: they'd screw it up with a healthy dose of attitude. I can't even imagine how hard it must be to deal with a crabby public, who is either in pain, or in need of something, or potentially even trying to scam you for meds. Having said that, I'm none of those people I've just listed. I'm friendly, I smile and say hello. I would like my stupid drugs please, the same ones I get every month, without having to correct the people constantly or be treated with disdain. So I took my business to Elephant! They've been incredible. Plus they give you a gift card for switching your prescriptions. And it costs the same. You'll never have to deal with a***oles again. I will never go there again. My doctor called in a prescription 2 hours before I arrived. They hadn't filled it. They think 2 hours is normal. But, on top of that, the pharmacist Adam is a sadist. He will bait you if you complain about their service. He told me to go to another pharmacy if I did not like it. So there is a complete breakdown in the pharmacy culture. AVOID THIS PLACE!! Clueless and incompetent staff, No way to put this in a better way!, I don't really care if the store is open 24/7 if when I get there the staff members are like zombies. I went there last Tuesday at midnight, because my wife was feeling sick, so i went directly to the pharmacy counter to ask for an advice, There she is!!! the old grumpy lady typing in her computer, says "one minute".... I wait five, just next to her, then I say: "I only need an advice" she snorts and ask what I need, After my very short explanation she just picks up the intercom and call assistance in row 9, and asks me to go there. I do as she says, I wait five minutes there (there is no other costumer in the store) I go back to the lady and ask, please for an advice, she picks up the intercom again, and calls for the same and directs me to row 9 again. Second time, no assistance came, I get mad, grab whatever I think suits what my wife need and head to the cashier, there I found the general manager, who after my complain, goes to the lady, ask her to attend me, and she says "COMPAZINE" she needs COMPAZINE... and complains about having to much work. It only took her 5 seconds to say that word!!!!.. and you have to pay the parking! AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! read more

Waited in the drive through pharmacy line for 15 minutes behind another car with nothing happening before I decided to go inside and see if I might get better service in there. Inside there were three people in line and two waiting in chairs for prescriptions to be filled. I left the store without my prescription. The pharmacists and pharmacy techs are usually nice, however they take FOREVER and have absolutely no sense of urgency regardless of how long the line gets. After tonight's experience, in addition to probably 3 hours of waiting for their pharmacy so far this year, I will be switching my prescription to a different pharmacy. Maybe CVS will do better. read more

DO NOT USE THIS STORE. i too have monthly medications - sometimes running into the hundreds of dollars - i use walgreens because they had ExpressPay which allowed my dad to help pay for some of the meds every month (he lives in NYC)... i was also accused of stealing by JUAN MARTINEZ and called to complain at walgreens corporate. they were nice enough but in truth i am still pissed off since the last time i went in they told me there was a problem with my ExpressPay account and they couldnt charge any of my meds... they claimed that a number was "missing" from the account info - i inquired how that could be since i have been using the same account for over a year and indeed had used it at this walgreens just 10 days ago. they treated me like i was completely insane and good old Juan stood over me with his arms crossed like he was ready to have me arrested right there. i insisted that they try to run the meds thru even tho they were convinced that my account info was "missing a number" but they refused. When i called walgreens corporate the next day they explained that, no I was NOT missing a number on my account - it was simply because we were using an American Express card which has less numbers than a MC or Visa - a fact which i had SPECIFICALLY mentioned to all the idiots at walgreens that evening. Needless to say i was not happy. i filed my complaint about the management and the fact that they refused to even TRY to run the transaction and corporate said they were sorry and it would never happen again etc etc. all i can say is i am exploring alternatives and if you have any other choices DO NOT USE THIS STORE. read more

If I could give 5 NEGATIVE STARS for the abhorrent treatment I received from the pharmacy manager, a woman named Alex on July 12th, I would. I was being waited on by the pharmacist when Alex butted into the conversation, then walked away from me mid-sentence, then ignored me keeping her back turned, thus leaving the matter unresolved. She and the pharmacist refused to provide her manager's name when I asked for it, and the pharmacist added that she has no boss when I asked for it. I have been a 12-year customer/patient in Alameda and merely wanted to give them a heads-up about some things. I took my prescription and have vowed never to give that store my business. I've now learned of this nasty persons boss who will be hearing from me. read more

The store is fine, but the Pharmacy is terrible. Why? 1. They don't refill prescriptions properly. 2. They seldom get around to calling the doctor's office, and if any pertinent information about your prescription has changed(like a fax number) they don't update their computer information. Its a cluster, seriously, two stars only because they literally are trying, just not trained. Two visits to the pharmacy and I seriously just wish I could jump back there and help them. They don't have enough staff, and most of the staff they do have are overwhelmed and don't know how to help the couple of people who do know what they are doing. This is for the pharmacy only: stunningly horrific customer service. They literally treated my dog better than they did me. At least he got a milkbone from the girl who refused to help transfer my prescriptions to another pharmacy. (Yes, Kaiser requested that I contact Walgreens myself and try to have my Rx's transferred, this is another problem in and of itself). Not looking forward to medical care via Kaiser, but super happy that I don't have to ever go back to this Walgreens for my stupid birth control pill. I had a bad experience at San Rafael Walgreen's yesterday. I went there to get a flu shot. I presented my current valid Medicare card for payment. They refused to accept my card and wanted the old number saying their system would not accept the new number. We were issued new Medicare cards about 3 months ago. It is way beyond time for Walgreen's to get their system working with the new cards. CVS had no problem taking my medicare card. What Walgreens did is very inconsistent with other pharmacies practices and possibly against the law. Please take your business elsewhere. I was also mocked by the staff for not knowing my old number and they would not make any helpful suggestions for resolving the problem. read more

It's really sad what is happening here. I am a north shore Chicago native and have grown up a huge loyalist of Walgreens. This location has caused me to nearly leave Walgreens as my pharmacy and go to a competitor such as CVS or rite aid. Sometime over the past few months, the level of service at the pharmacy has basically evaporated. They are perpetually understaffed and fail to request Rx refills from doctors on more now multiple occasions. They do not answer the phone and when they have, they have picked up literally only to hang up he phone. I had once to call the store to get a manager to get someone to pick up. This is one of the only 24 local pharmacies making this situation even further more complicated. Hopefully at some point, the powers that be will fix this deplorable operating system. read more

The worst service I have ever received in a store or Pharmacy. I needed somebody to open a locked item by the pharmacy. The Pharmacist barely acknowledged me after asking several times if she could help. After waiting for 10 min told me she has no key. Told me to go to the front registry. The woman at the front registry her name is Bianca was by herself , no customers. She asked me what key ? I don't know what key they use. I said since there was no customers maybe she could ask or find somebody to help. I asked to talk to the store manager .She said " I am not going to help you " in a rude way .Apparently the store manager just quit . Walked to this Walgreens the morning of Saturday, June 25th while visiting San Rafael for the Italian Street Painting Festival. Discovered (to my horror) that I'd left an important piece of my special needs son's tube feeding equipment at home --a syringe. The Pharmacy Technician was terrific & found me a small syringe, although not the same as our missing one, that worked beautifully to save the day! The store is in a tough location with some seedy characters about but this review is for GREAT SERVICE to a very panicked mom. Thank you! read more

I have gotten most of my prescriptions filled there for years. The pharmacist overcharged me by about $50 for a prescription (he forgot to run it through my insurance) and I did not figure it out until the following year when I got it refilled, and suddenly it was only $6 instead of the previous price. A nice woman pharmacist apologized and filled out pages of paperwork to get me a refund and said it would take 6 to 8 weeks. Ten weeks later, I hadn't heard anything so called the Sacramento office phone number that she had given to me. I was told that too much time had passed; I should deal with the store manager. I called and the store manager (or so he sounded) who told me I had to deal with the pharmacy manager, who was out on maternity leave and not due back for some time. I had a hard time believing no one could handle this, so I spoke to someone in the pharmacy who said to deal with the store manager, (again), who then turned me over to someone named Jason in the pharmacy, who said he would take care of it. He wanted copies, so I copied the pages and gave them to him. When I had not heard that it was resolved, I called him and he said he was working on it. Then a couple of weeks later I called and he said he would have to deal with the pharmacy manager, who was still on maternity leave. (Honestly, a major drug store like this, and everything comes to a halt because someone is on maternity leave? Do they NOT have a second in line capable of handling such a small issue?) What a way to run a business! Long story short -- I have still not heard a thing and this whole thing started in MARCH. It is now FIVE months and these people still can't square away a PROBLEM THEY CREATED, and no one even has the decency to let me know what is going on. It isn't even the money at this point, but the annoyance at their complete inability to rectify their mistake. I'm moving my prescriptions. There is no excuse for this keystone-cops way of running a major drug store. They also aren't the best deal in down for non-insurance covered medications. My dog gets polydex eye drops every day for life and my dog's eye doctor gave me a prescription so I could have it filled locally. I was floored when this particular Walgreen's wanted to charge me over $50 for a bottle of these eye drops, when the veterinary specialist charges less than $15 -- and Costco charges about $13 for the very same thing!!! read more

Probably the worst Pharmacy in town. The only reason I come here is because it's the closest 24-hour with a drive-thru to me. I don't see why every time I come no matter if I'm in my car or in the store there's at least a 20-minute wait even when there's only one person in front of me. There's no reason everything should take this long, if there are this long of weights for everyone they should hire one more person. Not that the people are having bad customer service it's just the managers having Staffing problems. Figure it out or I know myself and a few other people that are thinking of finding other places to do business. Absolutely the worst pharmacy experience ever! Three visits in one day to: 1. Be given the wrong $94 medication, and 2. Returning home and discovering it was incorrect, after phoning in and explaining the mistake, Walgreens told us to return it the same day 3. Returning said $94 medication, only to be scolded and told by pharmacist that their mistakenly administered medication could NOT be returned. After 30 minutes and additional scolding by pharmacist Yumi, they did take back their mistake. At this visit, picked up another medication for my husband, only to discover that they had given us the SAME exact prescription three days earlier. After pointing this out, they did not want to take the medication back. Excuse me, do they not keep track of what they are administering here? The mistakes are one thing, not to mention how extremely dangerous this is, but the rudeness, scolding, passive aggressive behavior by this pharmacist, and ridiculous amount of waiting is impossible. This location is OK in terms of selection and the service is generally friendly. The downsides are the parking and the beggars. Parking is metered. I get it on one hand because they are downtown, but couldn't they just mark it 20 minute parking and loop through regularly with chalk tires and ticket if people are using for longer parking? As a store patron, I only go here if I absolutely have to because I feel like I'm paying extra sales tax in the form of parking. The other issues is that from time to time there are beggars outside. It's been better lately, but it makes it uncomfortable, especially later at night. read more
