I've been coming to the seafood shack for years but have never written a review til now. The wait can be long especially on the weekends but that just shows you how good the food and service are. This is a casual seafood spot that includes everything from chicken tenders, steak, and seafood to crab legs. I ordered the fried catfish plate and it was delicious. The batter was seasoned well and the baked potato I ordered with it was piping hot and the hush puppies we soft and fresh. Our server was absolutely fantastic. I wish I could remember his name. He never let our drinks get low and checked on us many times. It was a little loud at times but then again it was a Friday night so that comes with the territory. Yummmm!!! I'm always happy when I get to go eat seafood at The Seafood Shack in Walkertown! Be ready for a small wait if it's a Sunday afternoon. It gets quite busy. The wait is worth it. The onion rings are good - I forgot to request extra crispy, but since I didn't finish them, I took them home and used the air fryer to rewarm them the next day. Man they were greasy (thank you air fryer for caring for my arteries)!!! But very crisp like I like. I'm not one for a lot of batter in my seafood, so I opted for the salt & peppered version. It's a lot lighter and tastes good seeing it is the only seasoning you'd need on fish. This visit I opted to try the broiled jumbo shrimp with my combo (with an up charge) and I'm so glad I did!! Walkertown seafood shack has been around a while, and a friend recommended it again. We came in for dinner on a Friday and it was packed, which is a good sign. We were waited on by Crystal and she was nice and did a fine job. This place is slightly nicer inside than some of the other chain seafood places. I ordered a fried scallop plate with fries and hush puppies. I should have ordered the scallops broiled because they were way overcooked and rubbery. Probably left in the deep frier for too long. Oh well. The fries and hush puppies were average. Overall, what I ordered was too expensive for the quality and flavor. The service was the best part. Might or might not be back. read more

I didn't realize that I'd not written a review of this fine seafood spot for quite a while now. This is the premier fried seafood spot in triad area in my opinion, stretching from Mebane to Mocksville, from the Virginia line in the north to at least Salisbury in the south. I stop in here for lunch at least twice a month. This is a family operation that began in 2006 when George Paloumbas remodeled a John Deere dealership building, turning it into a casual seafood restaurant, that at the time was in the middle of nowhere. Despite the location, the restaurant prospered, attracting folks from Burlington to Mocksville, and north to the Virginia line, south to Salisbury! Jimmy Shipman, the current general manage, had been a customer for a number of years, often dining with his grandmother. He started busing tables there about 2015, married George Paloumbas' daughter, Maria, in 2019, and was made general manager in 2020. He guided the restaurant through the Covid time frame by concentrating on providing efficient take out orders. He had to hire someone to direct the traffic, it was so popular. This is certainly a family and community operation - a number of the employees have Been there for years, and much that the restaurant sells is sourced in the region. Seafood from Todd's Seafood in Thomasville, and deserts from Cake & All Things Yummy. I almost always get fried seafood, although the Broiled Captain's Platter is very nice as well. If you're looking for fried fish, this is where to come! I had the create your own small with 2 fish choices. I chose grouper (1 solid sized piece with the small) and 6 large shrimp. Both were delicious!!! It was served with a small thing of slaw, hushpuppies and fries (or can choose baked potato). I was extremely hungry and had a little left after eating all in could. The sweet tea was delicious! I was definitely order all this again. Deserts sounded great but didn't try any. Servers were hospitable. The vibe was a southern/beachy vibe. You walk in and immediately greeted with friendly faces and such amazing aromas. You could tell it was a popular place and the best place to be on a Sunday. I had the two combination platter with popcorn shrimp and a spicy crab cake and everything was so delicious and cooked perfectly. Hadn't been here in years. It has the typical nautical decor, what you would expect. We gave it a try on a Saturday evening. We got there about 5:00 and had a 10 minute wait. When we left there was a crowd waiting with people outside too. Our sever was very attentive. Took our order and kept the drinks full. Overall it was not bad, but I'm not a big fried seafood fan. The best items were the fried Flounder, salt and pepper catfish, and jumbo shrimp. The oysters were mostly bread as were the popcorn shrimp. The scallops were not that great either. Sirloin and Popcorn shrimp with a baked potato tonight and I ate every bite! It was so yummy! The steak was well-done like I ordered, without being tough and chewy. It was perfect! Although the waiting area was full upon arrival, we were seated rather quickly and a waitress was at our table immediately! We drove 45 minutes to eat here. My little is already asking to come back. Guess we all enjoyed ourselves and have found our new seafood place. We've passed by this place so many times when we were traveling to see family, but it took us moving away to finally pause and eat here. Our criteria for searching for a seafood place were do they have broiled/grilled shrimp, and do they have salt and pepper catfish. They check both of those boxes, so we trekked on up for a lunch meal. The inside of the restaurant is simplistic in design, without massive wall murals like the fish places I'm used to. It was refreshing. Unlike most other seafood restaurants, the bathrooms are in the back and not the front near the cash register. Our table ordered the salt and pepper catfish, broiled shrimp platter, and chicken wings. The chicken wing eater ended up eating more catfish and shrimp than what they ordered, but all of it was good. For the price, I thought the portions were adequate and the food was cooked well. There are closer seafood places to where we live than this, but none offer the atmosphere, quality of food, and service as this. This will be our new seafood place for the time being. read more

All the fish was cold and literally had no taste. The fries with fish and chips were not cooked fully. We ordered fried pickles and had to wait 10 minutes to get ranch dip, then when dinner arrived we wanted another 10 minutes for butter for the baked potato that was with my wife's fish, which also had no flavor. OMG! I'm in town for the Thanksgiving holiday, and my family suggested that we eat here. There are a number of places that I grew up on that I always like to visit when I come home ("Beef Burger" and Libby Hill) that are now closed. However, some of the other seafood restaurants are not the same. With that said, this place knocked my socks off! The fish was fresh the grease that it was fried in was clean, and it tasted good! As a seasoned Seafood oficianado this has got to be one of the best in 5 counties. Always has the fresh seafood that you can eat and buy. My other seafood choice is Coronet Sefood and it's great too. Every single time I have eaten at this place and have been pleased,the wait staff is spot on and has a big smile to greet you with. I've heard so many good things about this place but we never seemed to be in the area at dinner time. Well the stars lined up Tuesday night and we were not disappointed! I had the broiled stuffed flounder which was fresh flounder stuffed with their spicy crab cake. It was excellent. My wife had the broiled 'pick any two' combo and had the scallops and jumbo shrimp. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Our server made sure the cold stuff came out cold and the hot stuff came out hot. Drinks stayed full. From the Moment I walk into this place- I feel transported to the beach. But I'm in the country? The food and service are always on point. The best onion rings I've had in the south. Hidden gem although I'm sure it's well known by the locals (as evidenced by the after church crowd on Sunday afternoon when we went). Food was hot and fresh and the service was good. Portions were consistent with most fried fish house style restaurants and everything was seasoned and cooked well. The house salad was actually really good so I would recommend adding to your meal to help break up all of the fried goodness. I frequent this place a lot, sometimes I eat in or just do a pick up in their drive through. Their fish is always fresh, I'm allergic to shrimp so can't speak on that. They always give nice portions and the waiters/waitresses are always so nice. The ambiance is pretty chill. I just wish they were closer to my side of town. First things first ... I have to be totally honest so that I don't mislead anyone! I've been to this eating establishment many, many times. The first couple times was pretty dang good and their prices aren't bad either. Every time I've been there it's always been clean and the waitresses are usually o top of their game. When we ate there this time, I couldn't eat my food. There was a fly, which I told my waitress about to no avail. It walked all over my baked potato. I, again, told my waitress and she gave me a new one ... thank you!! When we left we both had this great film kinda stuck to the roof of our mouths and teeth.
