Way better than the ghetto Walmart Broadway. No crowded obstacle to walk a tightrope through. It's smaller than the average Walmart. And doesn't have the biggest selection of items. But this is way better hands down then Broadway. Lines are faster workers aren't seen gossiping or chit chatting inside the stores. I typically don't review places like Wal-Mart but this one deserves a review. Not based on greatness or terrible-ness of certain occasions but everyday happenings. First off lock your car here, this parking lot is wild! People peddle tamales and stereo systems here in the parking lot. The front of the store near the entrance always has solicitors of some variety asking you to donate, sign a petition, or begging for your change. I've never once had a solicit free visit here. The store has some groceries, some craft beer, and decent sections all around. We're near the border and this walmart is somewhat of a destination so be wary as to the lines and how the store is kinda crazy, this place gets more traffic than your average super Wal-Mart. All in all its a very needed addition to the IB area, just know what your getting into coming here. read more

I think this Walmart has the worst customer service. I asked electronics for an item and instead of doing a visual check or even checking online the lady said "oh no we don't have it". I think the issue was that maybe she didn't understand me because she had a heavy accent. But the whole issue is that she didn't even bother to look. I've worked customer service for almost 9 years and that's the worst answer you can give a customer. What can I say about this Walmart that hasn't been said about every other Walmart ever. Traffic (vehicular and pedestrian), long checkout lines, screaming children, car alarms going off randomly in the parking lot, and the faint smell of urine near the cart stalls. But it is nice to see business in an area that has been fairly dead for many years. I also like that this Walmart will help ease congestion at the other nearby Walmart locations, especially the one on Broadway - that place traumatizes me every time I drive into the lot. Warning: there's plenty of parking, but be careful when entering and exiting the lot. It gets crowded way too easily. read more

My lord!!! The two stars are for these two ...First the lady on reg 14 was kind and polite! The old man that was off the clock was kind enough to go to the back of the store to find the price of the bike. NOW the 4 people she asked before the old Man went ignored her, shrugged their shoulders and walked away saying "call" the issue was she didn't know the extension!! Someone should have given it to her! Then the lil black man I think is a supervisor did the same thing! And walk away Not communicating to her he was going to go get the price. Poor lady was stressed out about making me wait. I was upset that they all had an I don't care attitude! My boyfriend had to go to the back just to get the price and the little black man came back with the price! So I had to text my man to say never mind! my goodness I hate Walmart. this location is lucky it's on my way out of Imperial Beach, where I live, otherwise I would never step foot inside. I am a loyal target shopper for good reason and this experience reminded me why. I ran here really quickly on a Saturday for a birthday card and the gift card for a party I was attending. The selection of gift cards at the registers was very limited but I was able to find a $25 visa gift card, the only one for that amount. I went to the very last register where the bottles of liquor are to pay for both the gift card and the birthday card. I thought it was odd that the cashier asked me to pay for the visa gift card and the birthday card separately. she claimed the visa wouldn't work unless I did. well apparently that didn't work either because she told me something was wrong with the gift card and if I could pick out another one. as I mentioned before this was the only one for that amount. I then asked her where they had their gift card Center like most stores do and she directed me to electronics. I went to electronics, picked out an entirely different gift card, and paid in electronics. it wasn't until the following Monday I checked my account to realize I was charged for both the visa gift card initially and the gift card I left with. when I first saw the charge I thought well maybe she was new, she didn't know what she was doing, but in retrospect I think that Walmart hires thieves. this girl rang up the visa and probably kept it for herself. I called Monday morning and spoke to a manager she took all my information the time I was there the register I was at everything and said she would call me back in about 10 minutes. it wasn't until the end of my workday I realized she never called me back so I called again to follow up. I was transferred to Laura, a manager or assistant manager I'm not sure. she was less than helpful if I'm putting it nicely. if I am able to give you the last four numbers of my card the exact time I was there because I have the receipt for the other purchase and what register I was at, why would I need to come in and show you my bank statement? you can watch the cameras and see me go from that register to electronics and then pay in electronics I'm sure if you're looking at cameras as well you'll notice your employee keep the visa. I work 11 or more hours a day and then take my daughter to cheer practice into the evening, I do not have time to stop at Walmart at any point in the day nor do I want to. especially when none of this is my mistake. I did you the courtesy of calling, not once, but twice before disputing the charge with my credit card company, the least you can do is look into this without making me go down there. that's what customer service is. as a sidenote to the manager Laura- if you hate your job that much maybe you should do something else because customer service is definitely not your thing. not so much because you couldn't help me any other way but just the unapologetic attitude received through the phone was ridiculous but that's the quality of employees Walmart hires, obviously. you pay for quality that's why I go to target. If I could give zero stars I would. I'm literally standing in front of their security cameras right now writing this review. I pressed the help button to get an item that is locked up, and I've been waiting for over 10 minutes. The light finally turned off, so I pressed the button again only to see the light turn off right away this time. They are clearly not staffed adequately enough to handle every day business. It is sad that Walmart has turned into a nightmare. Total lack of respect by lady working in the money center. Here picking up a money transfer with my passport and the lady says she needs a government I'd. How much official is a passport? I told her that my license is lost but she insists on asking for something with an address per "policy" and that it's always been that way. Luckily I had a picture of my license on my phone and hand it to her along with my passport. Normally when you give someone something into their hands, especially in a store, the representative is supposed to do the same. Went to Walmart on Friday. I went to the checkout line that was for speedy checkout where people can buy alcohol and checkout if have 20 items or less. A woman in front of me had 60 or more things in her basket. Anna the cashier did not says anything and the line was long. Please teach your cashiers to redirect people that have more than the 20 item limit. Also, there was another employee Palacia or some name that started with a P just standing there watching. I came here to do the site to store pick up at the Photo Center for a matress. Two people were ahead of me waiting and no worker to be found servicing the photo center. The other two people were waiting for a half hour waiting for help they had sought when someone said they called for help through another employee. Bad service! I expect to be in and out or at least for workers to be covering their assigned areas. Lack of coverage is frustrating with a wait. I recommend getting orders delivered to the house. I absolutely loath this store! I The majority of the employees act as is you are nothing more than a huge distraction! That is if they even notice you! The level of their rude customer service is just amazing! This Walmart is a smaller one - not a superstore so you might not find the selection you would at the larger ones. I don't mind it - in fact, I prefer this one over the one down the street in National City. I made the mistake of going to the National City store on payday Friday where cash is king. The store is clean and has a decent variety of items. I want to know why my Revlon hair color is sold out at all Walmarts? Does that mean millions of asian and latino ladies are walking around with my hair color in Chula Vista? I was spoiled by the awesome Walmarts I had in Phoenix metro. I've been coming to this Walmart for as long as they have been open and today was not one of my best check out experiences. They had one register open with a working cashier and of course it was the 20 items or less and the rest you had to do a self checkout. I checked myself out but what are these people getting paid to do, stand around and watch us scan our own items? That doesn't make sense to me. Next time I'll be getting in line at the 20 items or less even if I have more. I'm a paying customer and they are paid employees that have to do their job. Not only that but they don't match their online prices. What? Since when! I have been shopping at Walmart over 20+ years and have not had an issue with that but of course, one of the workers who get paid to watch us, says they don't do that. A sad store rarely has my size of shirts advertised products never in stock, shelves emptied not filled with products, looks sad and I feel bad for employees over work underpaid. They're working hard and the only bright spot is they help but store has empty shelves or has no money orders and won't serve customers! Often blocking isles with employees carts boxes or displayed products of unwanted crap not cool! Dogs ugly large and huge stinky non-service animals allowed an overwhelming sickening experience! It should not be allowed to have huge dog! I prefer a dog free environ safe from being attacked by huge dogs! It would be you is responsible if a bite occurs on your property! Thanks good shopping! Don't bother to come in here during the weekday right when they open. I work nearby and have had to stop by and pick up a couple of things for school. Each time i have been disappointed with the management in this place. usually the self checkout lines are open, thats it. The last 3 times i have come, the person overseeing these was worthless and refused to help out the customers beyond fixing the machine errors. The last time i came in, there was 1 cashier open, the self checkout person was talking with someone instead of getting the lanes up. The manager was walking around attempting to trail a new person, completely oblivious to the rest of the customers in the store. One person in line even asked him to open another line. He responded rather snotty. He told the customer that the self checkout would be open soon. read more

Caution: Be aware. Be polite. Be patient. I am starting to believe this is an issue with all WAL-MARTs and its not cool. You go into a Wal-Mart and you immediately get a headache. The workers are ill prepared and uncaring with a huge attitude as if you've wronged them in some way. And they do everything in their power not to help you. I am a very positive person and this store and its workers have a lot of growing to do. I believe in change and in the good, so hopefully one day they can get it together and really fix the problem. Wal-Mart if you are reading, please stop hiring the same type of people. There are some people out there that will be proud to have a job no matter what it is. I've worked in the direct customer service business and I understand it gets difficult, but it doesn't have to be lazy and it doesn't have to be a horrible experience for either parties. This is more like a mini Walmart as opposed to a super Walmart. It's small and one can easily do a lap around the store. As a result, the selection inside is limited (for example, check out the entertainment dept - it's small). I do like the fact that it is conveniently located near IB, but agree that traffic congestion can be a problem depending on what day/time you go. Unlike other Walmarts, there's no garden area, no McDonald's inside, and no optometry dept. There is a pharmacy though. Strangely enough even after a few days since opening day, you can smell a whiff of urine upon entering. Lovely! read more

Closest Walmart to me (Just outside of Imperial Beach). Few choices in this Walmart, shelves are half empty most of the time, Parking lot is HUGE, but it is also shared with other stores in the strip mall. Listen, they have all the basics and even some groceries, decent parking. But getting in and out of the parking--well, that is a nightmare not just for the parking lot, but for all the streets surrounding it. Long lights. Long lines of traffic. And it's right along the I-5 so it affects everyone. If they would put in a 2nd access road like the said they would years ago if it got to this point, they would get my and many other shoppers' FIVE stars. FIX IT. Thanks! read more
