Seriously, these negative reviews make me laugh. If you really want to see a horrible Walmart, go to the one on Southern and Rural in Tempe. That one is the worst! Honestly, this Walmart wasn't bad at all! Unless you like being waited on your hand and foot. For late night shopping, this expanded Wal-Mart really does the job. I'd still rather give my money to other companies, but sometimes they are the only place open. The renovated store is much nicer, but some of the items seemed to be in weird, unexpected places. I have to say, they did a nice job with the new bathrooms, and that's a plus. Overall, the staff there seems to be trying to rise above the fact they work at a Wal-Mart and is much friendlier and more professional then they were in the past. read more

Even by Walmart standards this store is bad. It's really dirty and run down, same goes for the employees. I've never seen so many miserable looking employees in one space. Help is impossible to find and when you do find it it's snarky. The only things you can save money on here is their own stuff. Anything with any brand name you would want is actually priced higher than just about anywhere else. They do not price match unless it is for sale on their site AND it shows in stock at that store regardless of weather they have it in the store. So they could have 50 of a certain item in the store priced at $55 but their site sells it for $40. The site said the store was out of stock so no price match. Sound shady to you? Goodbye Walmart. This Walmart is big. I really hate going to the smaller Walmarts because they never have the things you want. They carry half the merchandise and you expect Walmart to carry the basic necessities of all kinds. Well, this one has most things I look for. And like all other Walmarts, there's no employees around when you need one. Especially in electronics... there's one person every time I go. And then there will be 30 people in line at the registers and 2 registers will be open while a bunch of more employees just stand there. Well, at least this one carries more merchandise. read more

This is the closest WalMart to me so I find myself having to come here from time to time. On average though, it's not as clean or as well stocked as other WalMarts out there. The main reason for the review is that I called this morning to see if they had a specific item I saw in their website in store. I got put on hold- waited 5 mins and finally hung up. I called back, explained what had happened only to get put on hold again for ANOTHER 5 mins. At this point I said F it, drove the extra 9 miles out of the way and bought it at another WalMart that I knew would have it in stock. It's not that I have anything against WalMart (though I prefer Target), but the service/quality at this one is such crap that it's not worth coming here. read more

This Walmart is a hellhole, even for a Walmart (and I remember when it was nice and new and Walmart was a place you could buy things made in America!). They hilariously spared every expense in converting it to a SuperCenter, so you can walk around the store and tell where they just bolted more, new store onto the existing, run-down store. It's great. And it still smells weird. Less like pee than it used to, but still not good. read more

This is probably one of the OLDEST Walmarts in the valley. It is obvious due to the conditions in the store. The floors are in need of extensive cleaning or replacement. The shelves are often out of stock of basic items that are always available to other Walmart shows within 5 miles. Personally, this is one of the last places I want to go if I am in a hurry. It's my Walmart...I think most of the reviews are based on how unruly some kids are or how it's parking lot is bare (what the bloody 'ell are they supposed to do to the parking lot?? Put a veteran out there shooting beer from his M-16 while simultaneously cooking bacon and feeding it to his one eyed walrus??) it's a parking lot!!!! It's small, easy to navigate and MOST importantly: they remember my name, ask me if I found all I was looking for and always have fresh fruit. This makes up for EVERYTHING else...but if you want a SAMS club feel with excitement and bite sized entrees to sample... Go to SAMS..just saying. The store manager is a great guy and it's under new management. Stop by and tell him how your shopping experience was..it will shock you as to how quickly he will respond. Yeah Frys is here (they also sell Chinamade products) AND it costs more!!! Never in my wildest dreams would I imagine giving a Walmart 5 stars on a Yelp review, but here goes; So, I'm a little weird when it comes to Walmarts. I don't like the over-crowded, overly-noisy, over-scary stores and, well let's face it, Walmart seems to constantly win the award on that one. But this one, this one, folks, is seriously a winner. I go here probably once a week for household goods, and I've never once felt... intimidated... by this store. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The lines aren't long and slow; can I get a hallelujah?! And there's always a cute little elderly greeter/bag checker by the door, who makes some silly little comment whilst checking your items against the receipt! Finally, a normal Walmart I can add to the books! read more

It's a very nice store, just a little pricey for groceries. Only problem I had was with Betty the cashier. We said Hello, and asked how her day was going and she just stared at us with the most annoyed look on her face. After that, my very little sister asked Betty to bag her jolly ranchers separately very politely, and even said ma'am. Betty looked at her and said "What?!" like it was the biggest inconvenience in the world, She glared at her, sighed, and slammed the Jolly Ranchers right back onto the conveyer belt behind everything else. When she eventually got to the Jolly Ranchers, after sighing and aggressively bagging every other grocery. She quite literally slammed the bag of Jolly Ranchers onto the counter. It was such a hateful act that it genuinely made my sister cry, after winning a race at her school. So ridiculous to be so awful to a child who just wanted to eat her little treat. read more

It's quick. It's affordable. Parking sucks sometimes but all in all it's a pretty good location. I have no complaints

Since they stopped being open 24 hours one would think they could stock the shelves during hours closed. Yet shoppers still have to dodge the carts filled with product to avoid being run over. Also the stock employees will block the entire aisle preventing shoppers from passing or getting the needed items. Usually have 2 or 3 actual cashiers working even during busy times. The lines will go back through the clothing section but no one is called to open additional registers and God forbid one of the "manager associates" open a register. Wal-Mart used to be a lot more customer service orientated but no more. They frozen food sections are empty and they move the products around so as to make it look like there's more there. Most, and I emphasize most, if the employees can't make correct change, know where items are located or if they carry what you ask for and are the slowest people I've ever dealt with in a retail setting. It's sadly obvious they don't give a damn about anyone or anything except getting their paycheck. C'mon Wal-Mart! We may as well shop at Frys or Safeway. . .their hour are better (open more hours) and customer service has Walmart beat by 1000%. Doesn't matter what day or time you shop there, you get the same non-existent service and selection. Just because they turned an old store into what they call a "super walmart" doesn't make it super in any way, shape or form. Selection is about 1/2 of the actual super stores. They pretty much lost my business as well as many other shoppers. read more

Subsequent to my review of Wal-Mart, I was contacted by one of their store managers who apologized to me for my unsatisfactory experience at Wal-Mart. The manager asked me details of what happened the night I was at the store and advised me that it is not Wal-Mart's policy to make customers retrieve carts from the parking lot. I was also sent a gift card and an invitation to come back to Wal-Mart. I give Props to Wal-Mart for good response to a negative review and handling it well. read more

I'd like to update my review and drop this location down by a star. I stood in front of the customer service area for 20 minutes and none of the 4 employees that were behind the counter said hello, greeted me in any manor or even ask me to be patient because none of them know how to do their job and someone will get to me eventually. I finally got service, the poor lady that was stuck helping everybody while all the other lazy employees employees stood around, was decent at customer service but I wouldn't say she would ever go the extra mile. Hats off to Walmart really lowering their standards in customer service. I wonder if the $10 an hour pay increase is to blame, can't wait to see what $15 an hour brings read more

There's not much to put for this, it's a Wal-Mart , if you've been to one you have basically been to all. This is a Wal-Mart that is on the smaller side so if you need something that is a little strange, go to the walmart on Country Club. Their staff is pretty helpful for a Wal-Mart. They don't have a Subway or McDonalds but they have a pretty good Deli. Careful for the tamales there though. Being in Phoenix I thought " Oh real Mexican tamales"... did I forget I was at Wal-Mart and the chance of me becoming a millionaire was greater than the chance of those being homemade?! Their pharmacy is both accusatory and ignorant. They question you about your purchases to the point that they might as well just come out and ask you if you are a drug user. I understand that there are rules to follow, but it can be done professionally and employed through common customer service skills. Simple questions like "oh, your a diabetic, what kind of insulin do you use" or "so, can you tell me a little about why you need the longer needles" rather than literally arguing with us for several minutes about the purchase of insulin supplies and accusing their customer of being a heroin junkie. Professionalism fail. Knowledge of medicine fail. Customer service fail. If there were an option for no stars at all I would have taken it. I will never go back to another Walmart again after the way we were treated here. read more

Went in to buy a few things including new blades for an electric razer. Apparently, the $40 blades are a "high dollar" item that I have to be escprted to the register with. Asked to speak to a manager because I had other items to buy too and got "if I can find one" as a response. I shop at this Walmart in mostly two departments, the grocery section and the pharmacy section. I do this for one reason and that is for the savings! When I can save well over a dollar when purchasing the margarine I like, a gallon of milk for 10 cents less than the other cheapest store, a half dollar on my grape tomatoes, less on my prescriptions, and vitamins, etc. I save a lot of money compared to my local Fry's and Safeway stores. Haven't seen the "wild" looking people and the staff smiles and is helpful and the store is clean. It is a bit narrower between the aisles of the newer Walmart stores but this has never been an issue. I understand how they drive smaller businesses out but my wallet tells me to keep shopping here! read more

OMG this location is nasty. I went to this walmart for the first time and was the last time. Being that I just moved to the area and this is the closest walmart I was excited going in w/ high hopes but as I started walking in from the parking lot I noticed the parking lot was unmaintained. I walked in and noticed the people who work there, they were just deeply staring at me like they never seen a women before and made me feel really uncomfortable. As I was shopping I noticed this walmart isn't very big compared to the avarage supercenter so I got what I needed and as I was checking out the cashiers were very unprofessional, didn't know what they were doing and felt the vibe like they just didn't care about their job. I now go the extra mile to go the better cleaner walmart instead of this one. read more

Blah. Not the best Walmart around. I only go for Location but I've been to plenty better. Some of the staff at this location aren't exactly the brightest or the friendliest compared to other walmart stores in the valley. Wait times can be absolutely ridiculous even late at night. Store could be kept up much nicer if any effort was put in at all, right now it looks like they hired a bunch of 12 year old boys to clean it. Messy. May be due to understaffing and I get that one person cannot keep up with a 24 hr store of that size. My advice pick a different walmart to go to or another store. This is not a complaint against JUST this particular WalMart! Consumers beware! I believed their ads about cashing checks for $3 each. I went to WalMart to cash my payroll check (because my bank was closed and I need the $ to pay my rent). I put in my social security number and was refused. Of course they don't tell you why; I'm thinking it has to do with the company I work for. Turns out...WALMART will ONLY cash checks for people with superior credit. NOW, shouldn't they say that in their ads instead of wasting my time finding a place to park and then waiting in line as customer service just to be refused? I was humiliated! This Wal-Mart was converted into a SuperCenter a few years back but I gotta say they still don't carry a lot of items that other "true" SuperCenters offer. And I mean A LOT. I have found myself on several occasions having to drive to another Wal-Mart just to pick up certain things that this store should but does not carry. And to top it all off I don't think I've ever witnessed more than 5 or 6 cashiers on duty at any given moment. They always seem to be understaffed so if you decide to stop by be ready for at least a 5 to 10 minute wait in line depending on what time you go. (P.S. This one doesn't have self checkout lines.) read more

I shop at this Wal-Mart frequently because the associates are nice and helpful.It's supposed to be a super walmart but its too small so they don't have everything a REAL super walmart has but its still nice to shop here.I go to this one specifically for the meat because they have some good sized steaks and other meats without much fat.Overall my experiences here are always good and if there's ever any problem at all, the Manager always makes it right. read more

For a Walmart in the valley, this location is pretty awesome. I never knew of this location till yesterday and I'm glad I found out about it. The only reason I'm doing 2 stars is because the manager that I spoke to after was very helpful. Try to make this as short as possible, my son is sick and the peeds prescribed him an over the counter nasal spray. I come to my 3rd Wal-Mart and grab the ticket from the shelf to show the pharmacist exactly what I'm looking for and see if it's in stock somewhere else or whatever. The stock girl yells at me for moving her precious ticket then she just doesn't help, won't look it up, won't check and see if it's anywhere just becomes a bitch and I'm done I walk away and grab a manager. She did this in front of my sick 9yr old son and I refuse to shop here anymore. The manager afterwards was helpful but I would love to know if anything actually happens to that wench in the back. Won't shop here anymore found the item at Walgreens after they found it right away at another store. Gonna head to target to get my elf on the shelf for the same price as Wal-Mart as well! read more

On Friday, December 22nd I went to the pickup counter of my local Walmart to get my daughters Christmas presents.... And the bikes were not there. I was informed at the pickup counter that they would not be delivered until Tuesday, December 26th... the day after Christmas. This was of course a huge let down. I stood there and stared blankly at the man at the pickup counter and then at my phone - with the email that clearly stated "DELIVERY BY FRIDAY DECEMBER 22nd" in big bold font.... and could not process what he was telling me. What would I do for Christmas?! Right there in front of everyone in the pickup section of the store the tears came and would not stop. How could I explain to my girls that Santa was not going to bring them what they wanted? What was I going to do? The man at the pickup counter could not care less about the dilemma Walmart put me in and informed me there was nothing I could do but call 1800Walmart. He did not even offer an apology and quickly wrote done the number to get rid of me. I immediately called the customer service number right there in the pickup section of the store. The first women I talked to was able to offer no solutions and seemed to be trying to get through the call hurriedly. I asked to speak to her manager - and the next guy I was transferred to was a complete asshole. He had no emotions in is voice and it felt like he was reading off of a script as I sat there crying on the phone with him asking him to help me find a solution and try to help me save Christmas for my children. Finally, he was able to transfer me to someone in another department. This women was the first person I spoke to who was empathetic. She patiently listened to me as the stress of the holidays vomited out of my mouth in the form of dry heaving cries as I frantically tried to picture how I would explain to my daughters that Santa was not able to deliver their gifts. I asked to receive a refund for the bikes for this dilemma and still receive the bikes on Tuesday. She gladly processed this and apologized for the inconvenience I was experiencing. As I sat in a bench in the pickup counter of the store ugly crying to this women on the phone - there was a Walmart employee named Bradley working at the pickup counter. He was kind enough to give me sympathetic glances as he overheard this conversation on the phone. Unlike the first man I encountered at the store, Bradley was willing and eager to help me in any way he could. He even started looking on his phone to see if this item was at any other Walmart in the phoenix metro area. I was also frantically trying to search for anywhere that sold balance bikes in the area on my phone. Unfortunately, Walmart and every other major store did not carry this item in stores. Bradley sat there with me and listened as I cried to him about the pressures of being a perfect mom around the holidays and how I felt like such a failure because I was letting my girls down. He came up with the great idea of having me purchase helmets, kneepads and elbow pads and wrapping those up with a printed picture of the bike so my girls knew it was coming. Christmas came and my daughters opened up their presents, including the helmets, kneepads and elbow pads and they were ecstatic when they learned they were getting the bikes they asked for. I explained to them that Santa wanted them to pick it up in the store themselves and that we were going to go on Tuesday to get them at the pickup counter at Walmart where Santa had them waiting just for us. I received an email from Walmart.com Tuesday morning detailing that my order was ready for pickup at Walmart. I packed up my 1 year old son and my 3 year old daughter and off we went to go see Santa's special delivery with plans to pick up Maddie afterward and test out the new bikes. When we arrived we found out that only one bike was there. I told the guy at the counter that the order was for two bikes not one. He went in the back to get a manager as I pulled up the email clearly stating "Quantity: 2". My old friend Bradley came out and informed me that only one bike had made it to the store and the other one was being delivered later in the day and that he would personally call me when it came. Disappointed, and trying to figure how I was going to explain to Maddie that Santa only had one bike not two at the store - I left to go home and wait for a call to head for a third time to Walmart to pick up this impossibly challenging Christmas present. Later that day I got a voicemail from Bradley as I was putting my kids down for their naps. He let me know that the bike had arrived, but that I was not allowed to come pick it up because it was not being released for pick up because the order was refunded. So now I have only one bike... yet two girls expecting bikes... read more

We've been shopping here for a while and tonight, a "over aged bag boy" asks my wife for ID, when we bought a bottle of wine. She didn't have her purse, and he took an attitude, told her to go home and get her ID. I had mine, I'm in my 40's, but he said state law says everyone needs to show ID. Make sure you have something for your children if you decide to buy a six pack. Better yet, go someplace else. very immature staff. read more
