BAD MEAT! 10/27/2012- Go in with the husband and our son, pick up stew meat. No stew meat? Okay, rib meat will work I guess. Pay $8.17. Meat is set to expire on 10/30, that's fine, I'm using it tomorrow. Notice they are selling bad meat for a discount. Health violation? Yuck. Wait in enormous line, as usual. Go home and eat some candy corn, all's well. 10/28/2012- Pull out meat......... Completely rotten. Wtf... I just bought this yesterday. Go to find the receipt. Shit, can't find the receipt. Oh well. Call WalMart, talk to Teresa. Exchange is no issue. Awesome. Drive ALL THE FREAKIN WAY BACK TO WALMART and battle over a parking spot. Go to customer service desk, leave bad meat with Teresa. She looks at the meat I brought in and says, "Ew." Walk to go get stew meat that was not there last night. YAY THEY HAVE STEW MEAT! The only stew meat they have that is comparable to what I bought is $9.77. Haul pregnant butt back to customer service desk. Total comes to $1.60. Conversation went as such. Her: "$1.60" Me: "It should be an even exchange." Her: "It's not." Me: "Why not?" Her: "You don't have your receipt." Me: "I used my card, you can't look it up?" Her: "M'am it's not going to be an even exchange." Me: "So I had to take time out of my Sunday to drive all the way back here when gas is upwards of $4 a gallon because the meat you sold and are continuing to sell, AND guarantee, went bad 2 days before it was supposed to, and you're seriously not going to give me an even exchange?" Her: "It's not going to be an even exchange." Me: "You're willing to lose a customer over $1.60?" Her: "Again, it's NOT going to be an even exchange. What you're purchasing is more." Me: "What was your name again?" Her: "Teresa." Me: "Okay, well I'll talk to the regional manager tomorrow and let them know that Teresa caused them to lose a customer over $1.60." Now, we're not by any means wealthy, but we're not so broke that I can't pay $15 more a week in groceries by shopping at Vons. where the milk, bread, produce, and meat doesn't go bad way before it's supposed to and you end up throwing it out anyway. I was shopping at WalMart because I liked to save that little bit of money, but if I'm wasting gas driving back and forth, and I'm throwing out the money I saved anyway... Not worth the rude, classless morons working there, the lines, and the complete disregard they show for their customers. This isn't the first time that I've had things go bad, but it will be the last. I spend upwards of $7,000 a year at Walmart, and was planning on going there on Black Friday. Nope! Not anymore. This is review is for BAKERY DEPARTMENT Terrible service. I ordered my wedding cake here ($98). I know you get what you pay for. Everything went perfect when filling out information. The issue came about when I went to the pick up the cake the day of my wedding. When filling out info, the lady said if i bought flowers at vons, she could put a few on top as the cake topper. I was so pleased because i was on a tight budget. I came in with roses in hand. We do the exchange but she then states that she can not put the roses on the cake. She refused to claim that she offered the assistance of putting real flowers on the cake. If you are on a tight budget, I recommend going to Albertons or even costco. read more

Reasons why I hate this store: 1.Prices slightly higher than other walmarts in el cajon and santee 2. overcrowding, blocking aisles, and stocking when high volumes of customers are present. 3.Absolute CRAP customer service. More than twice now in the last month I've dealt with terrible service related to spoiled or defective products. Both times I was not helped at all. Here's one of them: Recently I bought fritos scoops. Opened the bag, smelled like dead fish. OK, not gonna eat those..... I go back to exchange them, and I'm told I had to return them within 7 days. OK, I purchased them 5 days ago - what's the problem? Then they try to tell me I didn't purchase them at this store - when its clearly indicated on my receipt. So I call the manager over and explain myself. I ask him to smell the fritos. He opens the bag smells, looks up at me with a straight face and says "these smell fine." "Really? Last time I remember fritos corn chips are supposed to smell like CORN." He then tries the 'I don't think you got these here' story and 'sometimes people buy things at other stores and try to return them here for credit.' "I just want to exchange them," I explained. " I have no desire to rip you off for a 3 dollar bag of chips. I'm not that desperate." He tells me that he can't do it again. At this point, I ask for the corporate office number to complain to them and tell them I'll be shopping elsewhere. Really? All for a f*@#ing bag of chips? You could have just exchanged it for me, save a bunch of my and company time, set the bag in the defect or returns and Frito Lay would have picked up the defective merchandise on next delivery and exchanged it for the store. Grocery stores do it ALL THE TIME! My wife worked for one for more than 6 years. Grocery outlet is open nearby. I'll go there instead. If for whatever reason I have to go to a walmart - I will go to the Santee or El Cajon one. I refuse to give my business to assholes. read more

Stopped in early morning to stock the pantry for the "new place" in the "Cajon Zone." The only crowd to speak of at o'dark thirty is the night crew wrapping up after a long night of stocking shelves. After nearly two hours, and with two full baskets, we headed for the check stands. At first it looked like self check was the only option, which is not an option with two full shopping carts. Then from above came a voice, "No waiting at register 18." I wasn't sure how it was going to go with their turnstile set up for bagging the groceries, as we had such a large order. Much to my surprise, she rang it up and bagged it up in a quick fashion. The store was clean and everyone we came across was very friendly, trying their best to keep their pallets of groceries out of our way as they were stocking the shelves. This is the first time in a long time I have done "full-blown grocery shopping" at Walmart. I was very impressed with the variety and the prices. We got everything from paper plates and cleaning supplies to meat and vegetables and of course, beer. This could become a regular grocery stop while in the San Diego area. I will definitely be back. One of the best Walmart experiences I have ever had. read more

The store is huge and has alot of variety. Yesterday was my second time there. The bakery section looked great. My roommate and I was looking at the colorful donuts in a see through rectangular package thinking about getting it when I saw something move inside the box. Guess what it was? A COCKROACH!!!! Eww. This has go to be the Walmartiest of all Walmarts. EVER. This is Red Neck Country, and this Walmart most certainly is their store. Walmartians hold a parade from the moment it opens to the time it closes. You have fat women in purple spandex and green tube tops, cowboys with stetsons, skin tight jeans and ballet shoes. I've seen roving bands of emaciated tweekers staggering through the parking lots trying car doors, and you can see security following them at a safe distance. Its just a wonderful place to shop at if you're into floor shows in the toilet paper aisle. Prices are noticeably lower than the Walmart at the mall. read more

I came here today to get tires for my vehicle. They have great pricing for their tires. The employees are nice but work in a broken system. First I stood out side at 9am in the cold between rain clouds waiting for the 1 guy inputting customers to take an oil change in-15 minutes. Then I stood for 15 more minutes for the same guy to take my vehicle in for tires. By this time my toes were ice cold. He was trying but how Walmart has their system makes the customers stand in the cold(winter-down to low 30's) or the heat(summer-it gets up to 100 degrees here) to process their vehicle. This needs to be fixed ASAP 3 other cars pulled up behind me and were told to wait 10-15 minutes just to be helped. I would have left personally if I wasn't being helped already. I am questioning coming back for oil changes. I live close and the price is right. read more

They are always packed the aisles are soo small and they are always out of a lot of the stuff i need. They have a very tiny shampoo aisle. the milk is cheap. i took two coupons for milk bought 2 milks gave her my two coupons and when i got to the car i looked at the receipt and she only took of one milk coupon. I went back in because it was a $1 coupon went to customer service desk and she went to the register i was at came back and said there was only one milk coupon in her drawer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im wondering where the other coupon went. i checked my purse and it wasnt in there. i think she stole it. why else would i get two milks!! i wont go to this store anymore. with the double coupons at vons right next door vons is cheaper!!!! read more

Three? Really? Yep. So this once 'regular' WalMart is a staple of East County. A constant in this part of town a few years it followed the Corporate plan and expanded into what is today, a Supercenter; complete with grocery. Whether entering via the Main Entrance, Garden Center, or AutoCenter you walk into what is a 'normal' WalMart. Not as nice as the Otay Ranch Walmart, but not nearly as bad as the Santee Walmart, this Walmart stands alone as the Far East County Staple. With the always fair pricing, ample parking, and anything you need to find (though extremely cheap quality) shopping, this Walmart provides the necessaties needed to live east of East County. Couple the shopping needs of Walmart with the surrounding businesses in the same shopping center you can grab groceries, a hair do, lunch, and taxes all in the same trip. read more

I went to this Walmart and was f****** stoked. They have literally everything here compared to the Encinitas location which is where I live, although I grew up and spent most of my life in Lakeside..I guess they upgraded the hell out of it or something cause it waaay better than when I lived there! But the actual reason I wrote this five star review is solely for the purpose of showing how much I appreciated the patience and understanding of their adorable female cashier Waafa..hopefully I remembered how to spell it, its such a cute little name! Anyways, Waafa waited calmly and patiently waited as my Walmart Pay payment method failed three times and had to suspend my transaction THREE F****** TIMES..AAAND after the second suspension actually had to re-ring everything back up..all the while having a smile on her face and reassuring me that everything was fine and not to feel bad..because I did feel bad..and embarrassed. She really deserves some recognition because I've honesty never had a Walmart employee treat me so kindly in my entire 26 years on Earth. Like for reals. Thanks Waafa you're the best! read more

I am a very regular customer at this particular Walmart. Im actually in this store sometimes every day and im usually treated well. About a week ago I came in there to do some shopping and purchase 4 new tires for a ford ranger I just bought the day before. This is where my story begins. I walked in the auto department and I was asked what I wanted. I told this person I wanted to purchase 4 new tires and then I told him the size which is a 14 inch rim. now he started poking at the computer which seemed forever. Now another person shows up and asked me what I needed and now I had to repeat the entire story once again. now he gets on the computer and types and types and types. At this time he asked me again what was that tire size and what model car was it for. I told him again it was for a 1998 ford ranger with 14 inch rims and a 4 cylinder engine. Now he repeats the typing event for probably 25 minutes or so. now he turns to me and askes if I wanted those tires mounted??? I couldn't resist and answered him with NO I WILL JUST CARRY THEM OUT IN MY POCKETS!!! Now he replys that I should just go to Discount tire and make my purchase. I could not believe that an employee would say such a thing and still be employeed there. Now another employee shows up to see what I wanted and I told the story once again. Now we have waisted about an hour doing nothing to help me. She now asks me where my vehicle is and I told her in the back in line and she advised to go back there and she would meet me back there and start the paper work. I went to back of the store outside and waited again. She finally shows up and believe it or not asked me if I wanted those tires mounted??? at this time im sure my blood pressure was way over 250. I then told her that I have never had this trouble just trying to purchase 4 new tires. I also said that I was just about ready to get in my truck and just leave. I also told her what the number 2 useless tire salesman had told me about just going to Discount tire and make my purchase. She said he tells lots of customers that. I then said to her that I couldn't believe that he still works there treating customers that. And then I repeated that I was just about ready to just leave again. She then said that she didn't care what I did or not and that she only cared about going on her break. That's all I needed to hear, I then said to her to just go on her break and probably stay there on her break. I then left and took the number 2 useless sales person and went to Discount Tire and made my purchase without being treated like a bum and had the tires installed without any problem and was on the road in less than an hour. That was enough for one day. I will say that I highly recommend Discount Tire to everyone. They know what customer relations and quality service is all about. This is the only SuperCenter (meaning its a Walmart PLUS a full grocery) in San Diego that I'm near... and there many local Walmart stores around. You just can't beat Walmart's overall pricing. With their ad-match policy, I don't have to go all over to get the items I want at the sale price. But had to go to great extremes to get this store to honor the website policy. They were creating their own rules on it. Had to complain twice to district manager and finally got floor manager's cell phone number if I had problems in the future. Had to use it once. I really want to compliment their employee/cashier, Steven, on how he handled my many ad-match items. i am very organized so that when I get to the cashier, all my ad-matches are at the beginning. Steven closed his register to other customers until he completed my ad match items. Now that's smart! Why should my shop aggravate others behind me? Many times I've been embarrassed to look behind me because of the disgusted looks that I get. Stocking this store is evidently overwhelming task at this store. They are always running out of popular products that I use. When I ask, it's like they just realized they are out. It takes three weeks to get the item in! Seems like they need to double up the order. Then reorder when the one order is left in the warehouse. My big complaint: They are not stocking the items that I have been buying at Walmart for years! I shop here bc it's one exit from my house, and is cheaper than Hagan. Almost every time I shop here.... The clerks are USUALLY rude. Last night would be the same. At least 2 of my purchases ring up more than what is listed. Also, with SavingsCatcher-they slip some by. So check up-if you use it. Last night, was pretty empty. Unusually, esp for a mon @ 7pm. Anyway, most of the areas were barren. The coffee creamers, ice creams, any/all salads. It's odd. I think it's a shady store...for sure! read more

this Walmart is a mess. Trying to shop for a bra, which happens to be by the dressing rooms. This means ALL OF THE CLOTHES THAT PEOPLE DIDN'T TAKE AFTER TRYING ON, END UP IN A BASKET, IN THE AISLES OF THE BRA'S AND OTHER LINGERIE. It seems everytime i go to buy food there, they are out of half of the stuff we need (today was packaged apples). the aisles are jam packed, to the point where you can't get through an aisle without getting stuck behind someone. and the handicapped parking sucks. The back door by garden isn't always open anymore, so you have to struggle to open the door to get your cart in. such a shame read more

This is in regards to the Auto Service Center. They changed my oil and shorted me the required amount of oil for my vehicle. It requires 7 quarts. It was 3 quarts low. I'm glad I checked before my trip. This vehicle doesn't burn oil or leak oil. I use synthetic oil and it costs about $9 a quart. So there rotating staff evidently can't read a dipstick or measure out 7 quarts of oil. Or do they pocket the difference and keep the synthetic oil for there own vehicles? $27 shortage adds up when you multiply it by how many oil changes they do a day there.Glad we caught it before we had an engine failure. We will never again use their oil change service. Will pay a little more and go back to the dealer or a competitor. read more

Another one of my favorite Walmarts, until recently. This location is in the process of being converted into a Mega store and ever since they decided to do this, it has been complete chaos!! Every time I'm in there, I hear at least one person complaining about not being able to find anything. I feel their pain. I'm not sure how they decided on the layout of the store, but I don't feel like it flows at all. Beauty products next to groceries, pets products next to drinks, shoes next to home, huh?! This place is a definite life saver when it comes to groceries and saving money. The price difference in every grocery they sell makes a Huge difference when your pinching pennies. Ground Turkey 3lb is $7 here and at Von's it's $10 that's a big difference and it's the same product. Yes I know the lines are long and some of the people that go in there are unsavory but if you go early in the morning like I do it is pretty much an empty store. I like to give 5 Stars to the Auto Center for an excellent job they did on my oil change and checking all the fluids in my car. The greeter is very nice and personable and they let you know when your car is ready so you can shop or browse. My only complaint is the parking! They should have signs up saying that big lifted trucks that take up two spaces need to park in the rear where the RV's park. They block the view of all cars and they stick out into the driving area of the isles. Get a grip on parking situation and this Walmart would be not so bad. read more

They literally do it all here from oil changes to my Garden I can't get it all. I like that I can get my oil change on my truck and do all my shopping in one stop. They are usually pretty quick too. Can buy dog food there too which is super convenient. Self-checkout makes it a breeze too! read more

This five star review is for the nice girl at the merchandise pickup area ONLY. Not for the store. My wife had ordered a new futon mattress online and I went to pick it up with her SUV. When I got there the box was huge and would not fit in the SUV. So I went back in with it and asked the girl at the pick up window if I could leave it there while I went home and got my truck. She said that she was not supposed to take back anything once it is picked up but said she would take it if I hurried back. I have noticed that the best time to shop at this Walmart is late at night. The crowds are gone. We have gone there in the morning/mid day and its a zoo. We prefer Walmart over Target as Walmart prices are cheaper. I like that they have many lines open for check out, however here is my concern. If you know the lines are going to be long, take it upon yourself to help the cashier by bagging your own stuff. I have seen so many times people just standing there doing nothing while the cashier does all the work. Get off your ass and help them out and maybe the lines will go quicker. Gotta love the ones who strategically place their groceries on the conveyor and specifically telling the cashier to group everything together. Oh my god, i want to tell that person who cares. If they are service dogs I understand the these dogs are trained but don't tell me your dog is fine around my kids and then your dogs is on attack mode barking in the store! I took my 2017 Jeep Rubicon therefor an oil change. Shortly after getting home from the oil change I discovered a loose drain plug. When I talked to the clerk in the automotive department about it he basically shrugged his shoulders like he didn't care. Additionally customer service throughout the store is below average. read more
